Abstract
La presente invencion proporciona un esquema de ARQ flexible. Se establece un canal de comunicacion entre un transmisor y un receptor. Se selecciona un valor para un parámetro ARQ para los paquetes de datos a transmitir por el canal de comunicacion. El valor del parámetro de ARQ puede seleccionarse de acuerdo con un intercambio entre el rendimiento u objetivo deseado, por ejemplo, un rendimiento específico de paquetes de datos transmitidos por el canal de comunicacion, y uno o más recursos de comunicacion requeridos para soportar el rendimiento u objetivo deseado. Un ejemplo de parámetro ARQ es una cantidad de paquetes de datos pendientes a ser reconocidos por el receptor antes de que puedan enviarse más paquetes al receptor. Otro ejemplo de parámetro es un retardo asociado con el esquema ARQ. Un ejemplo de realizacion que se prefiere- aunque no es el unico - el primer y el segundo valor de parámetro de ARQ se seleccionan para un intercambio deseado. De manera acorde, pueden seleccionarse una cantidad específica de paquetes de datos pendientes a ser reconocidos por el receptor y un retardo de reconocimiento o retransmision para así lograr un rendimiento deseado, por ejemplo, un rendimiento deseado de paquetes de datos a un costo de recurso particular. Debido a la flexibilidad proporcionada por la presente invencion, un instrumento de comunicacion puede establecer sus propios objetivos para una conexion particular basada en uno o más requisitos de rendimiento, recurso de comunicacion u otros requisitos.
