Abstract

Los inventores han descubierto que las hidantoinas parcialmente halogenadas exhiben una superior eficacia antimicrobiana y menores rangos de descomposicionde los aditivos mejoradores en comparacion con las hidantoinas completamente halogenadas, tal c omo la diclorodimetil hidantoina (DCDMH). Las hidantoinasparcialmente halogenadas son soluciones que contienen monocloro hidantoina y, opcionalmente, hidantoina dihalogenada o hidantoina no-halogenada. La presente esun método para reducir limo en un lodo de agua circulante que comprende materia orgánica y uno o más aditivos mejoradores, tal como abrillantadores opticos,mientras se minimiza la descomposicion de los aditivos mejoradores. El método comprende agregar una o más hidantoinas parcialme nte haloagenadas, tal como Cl1,1-clorodimetil hidantoina, al lodo. La concentracion de la hidantoina parcialmente halogenada mentenida en el lodo generalmente está en el rango que va desdealrededor de 0,01 a alrededor de 50 ppm (expresado como Cl2). Este método es particularmente util para lodos de agua circulante en los procesamientos de papel.
