Abstract
Una prensa mecánica es adaptada para realizar una operacion de hidroformacion. La prensa incluye una base estacionaria que sostiene un soporte que portauna seccion de matriz inferior, una guía movible que porta una seccion de matriz superior, y un mecanismo de accionamiento para elevar y hacer descender demanera selectiva la guía en relacion a la base. Una bolsa inflable es dispuesta entre la base y el soporte. Inicialmente, el mecanismo de accionamiento esoperado para hacer descender la guía hasta su posicion en punto muerto en el fondo, de manera tal, que las secciones de matriz rodean una pieza de trabajodentro de la cavidad de la matriz. Luego, el fluido presurizado es proporcionado dentro de la pieza de trabajo para expandir la misma hacia fuera, conforme conla cavidad de la matriz. Al mismo tiempo, también se proporciona fluido presurizado hacia el interior de la bolsa inflable. La aplicacion de dicho fluidopresurizado causa que la bolsa inflable sea físicamente expandida, causando que el soporte que porta la seccion inferior de la matriz sea elevada en relacion ala base. La magnitud de esta fuerza es con preferencia seleccionada para que sea aproximadamente igual a la magnitud de la fuerza dirigida hacia fuera ejercidapor la pieza de trabajo contra la seccion inferior de la matriz, y en consecuencia, la bolsa. Como resultado, la seccion inferior de la matriz es compelidahacia arriba para permanecer en posicion relativa a la seccion superior de la matriz durante la operacion de hidroformacion. En efecto, la bolsa inflablepre-tensiona el marco de la prensa y llena cualquier espacio extra creado por las desviaciones de los diversos componentes del marco, por lo tanto, retiene lassecciones de matriz en posicion durante la operacion de hidroformacion. Como resultado, la prensa puede ser adaptada para efectuar la hidroformacion de laspiezas de trabajo relativamente grandes y de paredes gruesas, tales como los componentes de chasis de vehículos.
