Abstract
Un proceso de refino de azucar que utiliza dioxido de carbono obtenido en un modulo que contiene una pluralidad de membranas de polímero permeables a losgases. El gas de chimenea procedente de una caldera se lava, y se hace pasar luego a través del modulo de separacion de gases. La salida del modulo contieneuna concentracion incrementada de dioxido de carbono, del orden de aproximadamente 20% en volumen. El gas con contenido incrementado de dioxido de carbono sedirige luego a un reactor en el cual el azucar bruto se expone a dioxido de carbono para efectuar la carbonatacion, un paso esencial en la decoloracion delazucar bruto. La misma caldera utilizada para producir el dioxido de carbono se utiliza también para producir el vapor de agua que impulsa la reaccion. Lapresente proporciona el dioxido de carbono para la carbonatacion de una manera muy eficiente, dado que la membrana de separacion de gases carece de partesmoviles y requiere poco mantenimiento. Es especialmente adecuada para la adaptacion de las plantas existentes de refino de azucar, a fin de mejorar sueficiencia, con un coste relativamente pequeno.
