Abstract
Un método para aportar dureza superficial a una superficie metálica y un lodo preparado por dicho método. Un lodo de aleación resistente al desgaste enforma de polvo fino y una solución de alcohol polivinílico (PVA) es aplicada sobre lasuperfi cie metálica de una herramienta, implemento o lo similar paraaportar dureza superficial. Alternativamente un recubrimiento adherente de solución PVA puede aplicarse a la superficie metálica después de la aplicaciónde una capa dealeación en polv o. Después que el lodo o el recubrimiento adherente de PVA se ha secado, dejando una capa seca de aleación en la matrizde PVA, la superficie metálica es calentada a la temperatura de fusión de la aleación en vacío, en unaatmósfera de gas i nerte, o en una atmósfera dehidrógeno. La pieza metálica con el recubrimiento fundido es tratada térmicamente para impartir las propiedades mecánicas deseadas al materialsubstrato de la pieza. El método de la presenteinvención otorga un recubrimiento suave, denso de revestimiento endurecedor de superficieresistente al desgaste sin inclusiones no metálicas.
