Abstract

También se describen aparatos y procesos relacionados.A method and apparatus for manufacturing a distinctively formed metal container body to enhance its visual presentation to consumers includes, in one embodiment, the steps of presenting a draft can body having a side wall of substantially constant diameter; producing a mold unit having at least one mold wall defining a mold cavity that conforms to a desired final shape of the can body; place the can body project using a base holder inside the mold cavity; and applying a pressurized fluid by supplying fluid to the mold cavity so that the can body project is formed by pressing against the lapping of the mold, causing the can body project to take the desired final shape of the body From the can. Axial compression is preferably applied to the can body project to reduce internal deformations during packaging molding. A second embodiment includes the steps of radially deforming the can body project into selected areas in selected quantities to obtain an intermediate can body that is radially modified, although still symmetrical about its axis; and superimposing a preselected pattern of mechanical deformations having an axial component on the intermediate can body. Related apparatus and processes are also described.
