Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a cathode-ray tube having good picture quality by adding the process for heating the desired part of the second grid before or after ordinary cleaning process and completely removing a stray-emission source.
CONSTITUTION: A stationary voltage is impressed onto the cathode 17 of an electron gun 16, and earthening voltage is impressed onto the first grid 18 and the third grid, and the potential of 400W500V is impressed onto the second grid 19, and the second grid is red-heated. At a result of this heating during 2W3min, the stray emission source is destroyed due to the red-heating of the second grid 19, and the electron beam through-hole of the second grid 19 and its vicinity are perfectly cleaned. In this case, if the voltage is at the degree that the second grid 19 is red-heated, the dangers such as crack of insulated supporting body and generation of in-tube glow are almost eliminated.
