699,830. Cathode-ray tubes. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 11, 1952 [Feb. 15, 1951], No. 3718/51. Class 39(i) A magnetic lens for electron microscopes and diffraction cameras is formed by one end cheek 1 of the winding bobbin 2 which is sealed to the envelope and is drilled with radial holes which extend into a non-magnetic spacer 4 between the pole pieces 5, 7 but do not penetrate the vacuum space, the field between the pole pieces being adjusted by the screwed axial rods 9 at least the inner ends of which are formed of soft iron. Eight rods symmetrically arranged may be provided.
