Abstract
521,439. Cathode-ray tubes. KOLSTERBRANDES, Ltd., and SMYTH, C. N. Nov. 18, 1938, No. 423. [Class 39 (i)] Focusing in a cathode-ray tube is effected by an electromagnet whose poles G for producing the focusing flux are supported by a constriction S ; an auxiliary air gap GS of higher reluctance than the main gap localizes the major part of the leakage when the constriction is saturated. The length of the constriction is great compared with the air gap GS. A magnetic tube T slidable in the core adjusts the main flux.
