Abstract
The device having at least one heat exchanger (7) axially arranged concentrically in a pressure vessel (2) and a catalyst bed (5) surrounding the heat exchanger consists of an essentially centrally arranged feed bell (9) for feeding the gas to the tube bundle of the heat exchanger (7) and deflecting the gas leaving the heat exchanger tubes, so that it flows radially from the outside inwards through the first catalyst bed. In the interior of the first tube bundle heat exchanger (7), a concentric centrally located discharge tube (12) is provided for the gas which flows upwards, as viewed in the direction of gravity, around the heat exchanger tubes (7) and leaves the first catalyst bed (5), the central discharge tube (12) being provided with upper collection orifices (11) for this gas.
