Abstract

Disclosed is a toothed edging for textile machines such as combing machines, drafting and opening cylinders for open-end devices and similar, comprising a plurality of bars formed by sawtooth stampings which are disposed next to each other in a parallel manner, are slid in a form-fitting manner onto a holding part by means of a recess that is located in the base area thereof, and are fixed in the longitudinal direction of the holding part by means of cheeks of the supporting segment or the cylinder when placed in the operating position. At least some sections of the recesses (7) of the inventive sawtooth stampings (1) and the cross sections of the holding part (6) are embodied in a T-shaped manner and have two peripheries (8, 10) which run approximately parallel to each other at least in some sections thereof.

Description

” T-- 2004/8952 @
Tooth Clothing for Textil'e-Machine Rollers and Supporting Segments
The invention relates to texxtile-machine tooth clothing, such as for comb- ing machines, drafting and opening rollers of open-end devices and the like, comprising a plurality of bars of parallel, side-by-side saw-tooth cut- outs which, by way of a foot-region recess, are pushed on to a holding . member, having positive fist, and which, in the position of use, are retained in the longitudinal directior of the holding member by cheeks of the sup- porting segment or the roller.
DE 30 07 245 C2 describes tooth clothing of the generic type, the holding member of dove-tail or approximately rectangular cross-sectional shape being provided with side pieces in the shape of a segment of a circle.
This kind of fastening has beeen extraordinarily successful in practice, with however the side-piece surfzaces and circle segments leading to positioning tolerances of the combing ti ps. The same applies to a type of fastening known from EP 0 839 934 AI.
Experience having shown that, for optimal combing results, accurate, uni- form positioning of the tips of combing segments is of outstanding impor- tance, it is an object of the irvention to improve the geometry of fastening in such a way that those tolesrances are considerably reduced.
According to the invention, “this object is attained in that the recesses of the saw-tooth cutouts and the cr.oss section of the holding member are T- shaped at least sectionally, lmaving two defining surfaces of at least section- ally parallel extension.
} ( .
The "T-shaped configuration according to the invention i.e., an arrangement with -two sections in parallel to each other, provides for minimizattion of tolerances in the radial direction, which is the direction that involves the positon in height of the tips and the radial distance from the axis of rota- tion. “Tests have shown that it is possible to reduce the tolerances by half as compoared to prior art embodiments, which improves the combing: result.
The design according to the invention enables the saw-tooth segments to be put imto practice in one piece and at a low cost, ensuring accurate,. exclu- sively positive positioning, there being no need for additional spri:ng- loadimg.
Detai Is of the invention will become apparent from the ensuing description of a pereferred embodiment, taken in conjunction with the drawing, which is a diagrammatic illustration of tooth clothing according to the inve:ntion.
The dirawing illustrates a complete saw-tooth cutout 1 which includes a foot reegion 2 and a plurality of teeth 3. Further teeth 3 of saw-toot-h cutouts
I locaated behind them are roughly outlined on the right in the dravwing, by way oofrecesses 4 and linking rods (not shown) forming a bar S.
DE 30 07 245 A1 describes details of the way in which these saw—tooth cutouns 1 or a plurality of bars 5 are mounted on a combing cylind_er of a combing machine, in particular specifying the job of a holding me=mber 6.
Each ssaw-tooth cutout 1 has a recess 7 so that the saw-tooth cutouts 1 or bars 5 formed by a plurality thereof can be pushed on to the fasten:ing por- tion 8 of the holding member 6.
The fastening portion 8 of the holding member 6 has a cross-sectional shape of a T, which means that it comprises two surfaces 9,, 10 that, related to the combing cylinder, extend approximately tangentially and in parallel to each other and two defining surfaces 11 that, related to tie combing cyl- inder, extend approximately radially and in parallel to each other.
As compared to conventional, dove-tail configurations, thiss helps achieve substantially lower tolerances in the radial direction (radius- R) so that the teeth 3 of the saw-tooth cutouts 1 are positioned accurately and more uni- formly, ensuring improved combing results.
