Abstract

The stepping motor for electronic clocks according to the invention supplies a higher load torque with a lower power consumption at the same time, and makes it possible to use cheaper permanent-magnet materials, primarily ferrite, for the rotor. The pole pieces of the stator laminates 1a, 1b are designed to be non-concentric with respect to the rotor 2 and have diametrically opposite recesses 11b whose height corresponds either to the thickness of a stator laminate layer 1c, 1d, at least two laminate layers being provided, or whose height is less than the thickness of the stator laminates, and only a single laminate layer need be provided. The recesses 11d are bounded by two straight lines X' and X'', the straight line X'' running through the rotor axis dividing the air gap 4 into two halves and enclosing an angle beta , which is greater than 15 DEG , with the Z-Z' axis. The straight line X' encloses an angle alpha of less than 130 DEG with the Z-Z' axis. Stator laminates without and with both types of recesses may be of different thickness. The invention can be used in all types of crystal-controlled electronic clocks having an analogue time display. <IMAGE>
