Description
本開示は、複合多孔質体およびその製造方法に関する。本出願は、2024年7月10日に出願した日本特許出願である特願2024-110977号に基づく優先権を主張する。当該日本特許出願に記載された全ての記載内容は、参照によって本明細書に援用される。
ポリテトラフルオロエチレン(PTFE)からなる多孔質体は、ろ過フィルターなどの各種分離膜に用いられている。
非特許文献1には、PTFE多孔質体からなる基材上に、カーボンナノチューブ中間層およびポリアミド層を積層した溶剤分離用の複合膜が開示されている。カーボンナノチューブ中間層は、カーボンナノチューブおよびバインダー成分のポリドーパミン(PDA)を含む。
非特許文献2には、PTFE多孔質体からなる基材上に、カーボンナノチューブ固定化膜を積層した膜蒸留用の複合膜が開示されている。カーボンナノチューブ固定化膜は、カーボンナノチューブおよびバインダー成分のポリフッ化ビニリデンを含む。

本開示の複合多孔質体は、第一面を有する基材と、前記第一面の少なくとも一部を被覆するカーボンナノチューブ層と、前記基材と前記カーボンナノチューブ層とを結合させる親水性ポリマーと、を備える、複合多孔質体であって、前記基材は、前記第一面を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層を含み、前記基材と前記カーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T1は、0.4N/20mm以上であり、前記剥離強度T1は、温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で、JIS Z 0237:2009に準拠して測定される、複合多孔質体である。
溶剤分離膜や水処理膜の分野において、ろ過対象の流体から除去できる物質の大きさを更に小さくすることが望まれている。
非特許文献1の複合膜では、PTFE多孔質体からなる基材と、カーボンナノチューブ中間層との密着力が弱い。このため、複合膜に外力が加わると、基材からカーボンナノチューブ中間層が容易に剥離し、複合膜の使用の際に支障が生じる。
非特許文献2の複合膜では、カーボンナノチューブ層がバインダー成分としてポリフッ化ビニリデンを含む。ポリフッ化ビニリデンは疎水性であるため、非特許文献2の複合膜を水処理膜の用途に使用すると、ろ過効率が低下してしまう。
そこで、本開示は、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体を含む基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上し、かつ、カーボンナノチューブ層の表面が親水性である複合多孔質体およびその製造方法を提供することを目的とする。
本開示によれば、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体を含む基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上し、かつ、カーボンナノチューブ層の表面が親水性である複合多孔質体およびその製造方法を提供することが可能となる。
[本開示の実施形態の説明]
最初に本開示の実施態様を列記して説明する。
(1)本開示の複合多孔質体は、第一面を有する基材と、前記第一面の少なくとも一部を被覆するカーボンナノチューブ層と、前記基材と前記カーボンナノチューブ層とを結合させる親水性ポリマーと、を備える、複合多孔質体であって、前記基材は、前記第一面を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層を含み、前記基材と前記カーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T1は、0.4N/20mm以上であり、前記剥離強度T1は、温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で、JIS Z 0237:2009に準拠して測定される、複合多孔質体である。
最初に本開示の実施態様を列記して説明する。
(1)本開示の複合多孔質体は、第一面を有する基材と、前記第一面の少なくとも一部を被覆するカーボンナノチューブ層と、前記基材と前記カーボンナノチューブ層とを結合させる親水性ポリマーと、を備える、複合多孔質体であって、前記基材は、前記第一面を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層を含み、前記基材と前記カーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T1は、0.4N/20mm以上であり、前記剥離強度T1は、温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で、JIS Z 0237:2009に準拠して測定される、複合多孔質体である。
本開示によれば、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体を含む基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上し、かつ、カーボンナノチューブ層の表面が親水性である複合多孔質体を提供することが可能となる。
(2)上記(1)において、前記親水性ポリマーは、架橋していてもよい。これによると、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が更に向上する。
(3)上記(1)または(2)において、前記剥離強度T1に対する、前記複合多孔質体を25℃の水に3分間浸漬後の前記基材と前記カーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T2の百分率(T2/T1)×100は、30%以上でもよい。前記剥離強度T1および前記剥離強度T2の単位は、N/20mmである。前記剥離強度T1および前記剥離強度T2は、温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で、JIS Z 0237:2009に準拠して測定される。
これによると、親水性ポリマーが架橋しており、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が更に向上する。
(4)上記(1)から(3)のいずれかにおいて、前記親水性ポリマーは、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリアクリル酸、ポリアクリルアミド、ポリエチレングリコール、ポリアリルアミン、ポリエチレンイミン、ポリビニルピロリドン、ポリスチレンスルホン酸、ポリオキサゾリン、酢酸セルロース、および、エチレンビニルアルコール共重合樹脂からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含んでもよい。これによると、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が更に向上する。
(5)上記(1)から(4)のいずれかにおいて、前記親水性ポリマーは、ポリビニルアルコールおよびポリエチレンイミンの一方または両方を含んでもよい。これによると、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が更に向上する。
(6)上記(1)から(5)のいずれかにおいて、前記カーボンナノチューブ層を25℃のN-メチル-2-ピロリドンに45日間浸漬後の前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面の接触角α2が25°以上65°以下であり、前記浸漬前の前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面の接触角α1に対する、前記接触角α2と前記接触角α1との差α2-α1の百分率{(α2-α1)/α1}×100は、40%以下でもよい。これによると、複合多孔質体は、優れた耐溶剤性を有することができる。
(7)上記(1)から(6)のいずれかにおいて、下記の条件で行われる剥離評価試験において、カーボンナノチューブのポリテトラフルオロエチレン製の丸棒への付着が確認されなくてもよい。
剥離評価試験の条件
ステンレスプレートに、防水両面テープを用いて、前記複合多孔質体からなるサンプルを貼り付ける。この時、前記防水両面テープは、前記サンプルの前記基材側の主面に貼り付けられている。前記サンプルを水に2分間浸漬後、水から取り出す。その後、30秒以内に、前記サンプルの前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面に、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン製の直径5mmの丸棒の先端面を7gfの力で押し付けながら、前記丸棒を前記カーボンナノチューブ層の前記表面に沿って50mmスライドさせる。その後、前記丸棒を前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面から離して、前記丸棒の前記先端面を目視で観察し、前記丸棒へのカーボンナノチューブの付着の有無を確認する。
剥離評価試験の条件
ステンレスプレートに、防水両面テープを用いて、前記複合多孔質体からなるサンプルを貼り付ける。この時、前記防水両面テープは、前記サンプルの前記基材側の主面に貼り付けられている。前記サンプルを水に2分間浸漬後、水から取り出す。その後、30秒以内に、前記サンプルの前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面に、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン製の直径5mmの丸棒の先端面を7gfの力で押し付けながら、前記丸棒を前記カーボンナノチューブ層の前記表面に沿って50mmスライドさせる。その後、前記丸棒を前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面から離して、前記丸棒の前記先端面を目視で観察し、前記丸棒へのカーボンナノチューブの付着の有無を確認する。
これによると、複合多孔質体が水に濡れた状態においても、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上している。
(8)本開示の複合多孔質体の製造方法は、上記(1)から(7)のいずれかの複合多孔質体の製造方法であって、第一面を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層を含む基材を準備する工程と、カーボンナノチューブ分散液に親水性ポリマーを混合してカーボンナノチューブ混合液を得る工程と、前記基材の前記第一面に、前記カーボンナノチューブ混合液を塗布して、カーボンナノチューブ層を成膜して、複合多孔質体を得る工程と、を備える、複合多孔質体の製造方法である。
本開示によれば、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体を含む基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上し、かつ、カーボンナノチューブ層の表面が親水性である複合多孔質体を提供することが可能となる。
(9)上記(8)において、前記複合多孔質体を得る工程は、前記カーボンナノチューブ層が成膜された前記基材を、親水性ポリマーに浸漬する工程、または、前記カーボンナノチューブ層に、親水性ポリマーを塗布する工程を含んでもよい。これによると、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が更に向上する。
(10)上記(8)において、前記複合多孔質体を得る工程は、前記親水性ポリマーに浸漬する工程の後、または、前記親水性ポリマーを塗布する工程の後、前記親水性ポリマーを架橋する工程を含んでもよい。これによると、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が更に向上する。

本開示の複合多孔質体およびその製造方法の具体例を、以下に図面を参照しつつ説明する。本開示の図面において、同一の参照符号は、同一部分または相当部分を表すものである。また、長さ、幅、厚さ、深さなどの寸法関係は図面の明瞭化と簡略化のために適宜変更されており、必ずしも実際の寸法関係を表すものではない。

本明細書において「A~B」という形式の表記は、A以上B以下を意味し、Aにおいて単位の記載がなく、Bにおいてのみ単位が記載されている場合、Aの単位とBの単位とは同じである。
本明細書において化合物などを化学式で表す場合、原子比を特に限定しないときは従来公知のあらゆる原子比を含むものとし、必ずしも化学量論的範囲のもののみに限定されるべきではない。
本開示において、数値範囲下限及び上限として、それぞれ1つ以上の数値が記載されている場合は、下限に記載されている任意の1つの数値と、上限に記載されている任意の1つの数値との組み合わせも開示されているものとする。
本開示において、「備える」、「含む」、「有する」、および、これらの変形は、オープンエンドの用語である。オープンエンドの用語は必須要素に加えて、追加要素をさらに含んでいてもよいし、含んでいなくてもよい。「からなる」との記載はクローズドの用語である。ただしクローズドの用語で表現される構成であっても、通常において付随する不純物であったり、対象技術に無関係であったりする付加的な要素は含み得る。
[実施形態1:複合多孔質体(1)]
本開示の一実施形態(以下「実施形態1」とも記す。)に係る複合多孔質体について、図1および図2を用いて説明する。図1および図2に示されるように、実施形態1に係る複合多孔質体1は、シート形状である。実施形態1に係る複合多孔質体1は、第一面21を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層2Aを含む基材2と、第一面21の少なくとも一部を被覆するカーボンナノチューブ層3と、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3とを結合させる親水性ポリマー5と、を備える、複合多孔質体である。基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との剥離強度T1は、0.4N/20mm以上である。剥離強度T1は、温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で、JIS Z 0237:2009に準拠して測定される。
本開示の一実施形態(以下「実施形態1」とも記す。)に係る複合多孔質体について、図1および図2を用いて説明する。図1および図2に示されるように、実施形態1に係る複合多孔質体1は、シート形状である。実施形態1に係る複合多孔質体1は、第一面21を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層2Aを含む基材2と、第一面21の少なくとも一部を被覆するカーボンナノチューブ層3と、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3とを結合させる親水性ポリマー5と、を備える、複合多孔質体である。基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との剥離強度T1は、0.4N/20mm以上である。剥離強度T1は、温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で、JIS Z 0237:2009に準拠して測定される。
実施形態1の複合多孔質体は、基材、カーボンナノチューブ層、および親水性ポリマーからなってもよい。実施形態1の複合多孔質体は、本開示の効果を損なわない限り、基材、カーボンナノチューブ層、および親水性ポリマーに加えて、不可避不純物を含んでもよい。不可避不純物としては、例えば、カーボンナノチューブ製造に用いられるコバルト、鉄等の触媒由来の金属元素または埃に由来するケイ素、アルミ元素等の物質が挙げられる。
<基材>
実施形態1において、基材2は第一面21を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層2Aを含む。図2に示されるように、基材2はシート形状である。図2に示されるように、基材2は複数の空孔2hを備える。図2は断面図であるため、基材2の各空孔2hは独立しているように見えるが、各空孔2hは他の空孔2hにつながって、第一面21から第二面22に至る無数の流路を形成している。基材2には、第一面21から第二面22に至る無数の流路が形成されている。
実施形態1において、基材2は第一面21を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層2Aを含む。図2に示されるように、基材2はシート形状である。図2に示されるように、基材2は複数の空孔2hを備える。図2は断面図であるため、基材2の各空孔2hは独立しているように見えるが、各空孔2hは他の空孔2hにつながって、第一面21から第二面22に至る無数の流路を形成している。基材2には、第一面21から第二面22に至る無数の流路が形成されている。
基材2はポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層2Aを含む。PTFEは耐熱性および耐薬品性に優れる。従って、複合多孔質体の耐熱性および耐薬品性が向上する。第一層2Aは、本開示の効果を損なわない限り、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン以外の成分を含んでいてもよい。該成分としては、例えば、パーフルオロアルコキシアルカン(PFA)、テトラフルオロエチレン-ヘキサフルオロプロピレン共重合体(FEP)が挙げられる。
基材2の厚さは、第一面21と第二面22との間の長さである。基材2の平均厚さは1μm以上100μm以下でもよく、10μm以上90μm以下でもよく、または20μm以上50μm以下でもよい。平均厚さが1μm以上の基材2を備える複合多孔質体1は優れた強度を有する。平均厚さが100μm以下の基材2を備える複合多孔質体1は可とう性に優れる。また、複合多孔質体1によるろ過時間が長くなり過ぎない。
基材2の平均厚さはSEM-EDX(Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy)によって求められる。SEM画像の倍率は、10000倍である。SEM画像のサイズは、8μm×11μmである。基材2の平均厚さは、基材2における異なる5点以上の厚さを平均したものである。走査型電子顕微鏡(SEM)としては、日本電子社製の「JSM-7800F」(商標)を用いることができる。測定時の加速電圧は3.0kVである。エネルギー分散型X線分析装置(EDX)としては、AMETEK社製の「OCTANE PLUS-A」(商標)を用いることができる。後述のSEMおよびEDXを用いた測定は、同一の装置を用いることができる。
基材2の第一面21における平均孔径は、20nm以上2000nm以下でもよく、50nm以上450nm以下でもよく、または200nm以上350nm以下でもよい。基材2の第一面21における平均孔径が20nm以上であると、基材2を含む複合多孔質体1は通液性に優れる。通液性が高い複合多孔質体1は、ろ過時間を短縮できる。基材2の第一面21における平均孔径が2000nm以下であると、カーボンナノチューブ層3を構成するカーボンナノチューブ6が第一面21上に引っ掛かり易く、第一面21上にカーボンナノチューブ層3が適切に構成され易い。基材2の第一面21における平均孔径が2000nm以下であると、基材2を含む複合多孔質体1は強度に優れる。基材2の第一面21における平均孔径は、カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径よりも大きい。
第一面21には複数の空孔2hが形成されている。第一面21の上にカーボンナノチューブ層3が形成されていると、第一面21の空孔2hの平均孔径を測定することは難しい。本開示において、第一面21の平均孔径は、基材2の厚さ方向に沿った断面のSEM画像から求められる。本開示において、基材2の厚さ方向とは、第一面21から第二面22に向かう方向を意味する。SEM画像の倍率は、5000倍である。SEM画像のサイズは、8μm×11μmである。SEM画像を二値化処理し、SEM画像における各空孔2hを抽出する。SEM画像中の各空孔2hの円相当径を求め、全ての空孔2hの円相当径の算術平均を求める。円相当径は、空孔2hの面積と同じ大きさの真円の直径のことである。この円相当径の算術平均を基材2の第一面21における平均孔径とみなす。
第一面21における空孔2hの平均短径は、4nm以上400nm以下であってもよい。第一面21における空孔2hの平均短径が4nm以上の空孔2hを有する第一面21は、複合多孔質体1の通液性を向上させる。第一面21の空孔2hの平均短径が400nm以下であれば、カーボンナノチューブ層3を構成するカーボンナノチューブ6が第一面21上に引っ掛かり易く、第一面21上にカーボンナノチューブ層3が適切に構成され易い。第一面21における空孔2hの平均短径は例えば10nm以上300nm以下でも良い。
本開示において、第一面21の空孔2hの平均短径は、基材2の厚さ方向に沿った断面のSEM画像から求められる。SEM画像の倍率は、5000倍である。SEM画像のサイズは、8μm×11μmである。SEM画像を二値化処理し、SEM画像における各空孔2hを抽出する。SEM画像において、各空孔2hに外接する最小の長方形を求める。SEM画像中の全ての長方形の短径の平均が、空孔2hの平均短径である。
基材2は、図2に示されるように、複数の層を備えていてもよい。基材2は、第一層2Aと第二層2Bとを備えることができる。図2では、第一層2Aと第二層2Bとの境界を二点鎖線で模式的に示している。第一層2Aは、第一面21を含む。第二層2Bは、第一層2Aに隣接する。実施形態1において、第二層2Bは、第二面22を含む。第二層2Bの平均孔径は、第一層2Aの平均孔径よりも大きい。平均孔径が大きい第二層2Bを備える基材2の通液性は、基材2と同じ厚さを有し、かつ第一層2Aのみからなる基材2の通液性よりも優れる。従って、基材2が第一層2Aと第二層2Bとで構成されることで、基材2を厚くしても複合多孔質体1のろ過時間が長くなり難い。第二層2Bの平均孔径は、例えば、第一層2Aの平均孔径の2倍以上2000倍以下、または10倍以上1000倍以下であってもよい。第一層2Aの平均孔径は、カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径よりも大きい。基材2が3層以上の層からなる場合、第一面21から遠い層ほど平均孔径が大きくてもよい。本例とは異なり、基材2は、第一層2Aのみから構成されていてもよい。この場合、第一層2Aは第一面21と第二面22とを含む。
第一層2Aの平均孔径と、第二層2Bの平均孔径は、基材2の厚さ方向に沿った断面のSEM画像から求められる。第一層2Aと第二層2Bとは、基材2の作製時に熱融着される。そのため、第一層2Aと第二層2Bとの境界はSEM画像において確認することができる。SEM画像において、境界を挟んで第一面21を含む領域に存在する各空孔2hの円相当径の算術平均が、第一層2Aの平均孔径である。同様に、SEM画像において、境界を挟んで第一層2Aに隣接する領域に存在する各空孔2hの円相当径の算術平均が、第二層2Bの平均孔径である。
第二層2Bは、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなってもよい。第二層2Bは、ポリエチレンテレフタラート、ポリプロピレン、または、ポリフェニレンサルファイドからなる不織布からなってもよい。
<カーボンナノチューブ層>
実施形態1において、カーボンナノチューブ層3は、複数のカーボンナノチューブ6を含む。カーボンナノチューブ層3は、基材2の第一面21の少なくとも一部を被覆すればよく、基材2の第一面21の全部を被覆してもよい。カーボンナノチューブ層3は、基材2の第一面21の直上に配置されてもよい。図1および図2では、基材2上にカーボンナノチューブ層3のみが設けられているが、本開示の効果を損なわない限り、カーボンナノチューブ層3上に他の層が設けられていてもよい。
実施形態1において、カーボンナノチューブ層3は、複数のカーボンナノチューブ6を含む。カーボンナノチューブ層3は、基材2の第一面21の少なくとも一部を被覆すればよく、基材2の第一面21の全部を被覆してもよい。カーボンナノチューブ層3は、基材2の第一面21の直上に配置されてもよい。図1および図2では、基材2上にカーボンナノチューブ層3のみが設けられているが、本開示の効果を損なわない限り、カーボンナノチューブ層3上に他の層が設けられていてもよい。
カーボンナノチューブ6としては、炭素の層(グラフェン)が1層だけ筒状になっている単層カーボンナノチューブ、炭素の層が複数層積層した状態で筒状になっている二層カーボンナノチューブ又は多層カーボンナノチューブ、あるいは、底が抜けた紙コップの形をしたグラフェンが積層をした構造を有するカップスタック型ナノチューブなどを用いることができる。カーボンナノチューブ層3がカーボンナノチューブ6を含有することは、走査型電子顕微鏡での観察により確認することができる。走査型電子顕微鏡での観察倍率は10000倍であり、加速電圧は3.0kVである。
カーボンナノチューブ6の長さは、特に制限されない。カーボンナノチューブ6の長さは、例えば、0.1μm以上50μm以下でもよく、または、0.5μm以上30μm以下でもよい。カーボンナノチューブの長さは、原子間力顕微鏡または走査型電子顕微鏡での観察により測定することができる。原子間力顕微鏡としては、日立ハイテク社製の「SPI4000」(商標)を用いることができる。
カーボンナノチューブ6の径は、特に制限されない。カーボンナノチューブ6の径は、例えば、1nm以上100nm以下でもよく、または、3nm以上80nm以下でもよい。カーボンナノチューブの径とは、一のカーボンナノチューブの平均外径を意味する。一のカーボンナノチューブの平均外径は、走査型電子顕微鏡または透過型電子顕微鏡によりカーボンナノチューブの投影像を直接観察することで測定し、算出することができる。透過型電子顕微鏡としては、日立社製の「HF-2000」(商標)を用いることができる。透過型電子顕微鏡での測定条件は、加速電圧200kVである。
カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径は、基材2の第一面21における平均孔径以下の大きさであれば、特に制限されない。カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径は、例えば、1nm以上100nm以下でもよく、5nm以上80nm以下でもよく、または、20nm以上60nm以下でもよい。カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径が1nm以上であれば、カーボンナノチューブ層3の可とう性が確保される。また、複合多孔質体1によるろ過時間が長くなり過ぎない。カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径が100nm以下であれば、カーボンナノチューブ層3によって効率的に不純物を分離できる。
カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径は非常に小さいため、カーボンナノチューブ層3の断面のSEM画像から求めることが難しい。本開示において、カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径は、通液試験によって求められる。図4は通液試験に使用される試験装置7の概略図である。試験装置7は、真空引き可能なフラスコ70と、両端が開口した筒状のチャンバー71とを備える。チャンバー71の下端開口部71Dとフラスコ70の上端開口部70Uとの間に複合多孔質体1が挟まれている。複合多孔質体1のカーボンナノチューブ層3は、チャンバー71を向いている。
カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径を求める手順は以下のとおりである。まず、既知の平均粒径を有する複数のポリマーまたは粒子を含む試験液を作製する。ここで、平均粒径とは、ポリマーの場合はストークス直径の値、粒子の場合は個数分布の最頻値を意味する。試験液におけるポリマーの平均分子量または粒子の濃度(g/cm3)は既知である。後述の通り、ポリマーの平均分子量に基づき、ポリマーの平均粒径(ストークス直径)が算出される。
試験液は、異なる平均粒径のものを複数作製する。例えば、平均粒径が0.8nm~5nmの間は、平均分子量200、300、600、1000、2000、4000、または、6000のポリマーの試験液を作製する。平均粒径が5nm~20nmの間は、5nm間隔で粒子の試験液を作製する。平均粒径が20nm~60nmの間は、10nm間隔で粒子の試験液を作製する。平均粒径が60nm~100nmの間は、20nm間隔で粒子の試験液を作製する。
試験液に含まれる平均粒径0.8nm~5nmを有するポリマーとしては、ポリエチレングリコール(以下「PEG」とも記す。)を用いる。ポリエチレングリコールの平均粒径(ストークス直径)は、分子量に基づき、下記式により算出される。

試験液に含まれる平均粒径5nm~100nmを有する粒子としては、アルドリッチ社製の「金ナノ粒子」を用いる。
試験液をチャンバー71に入れる。フラスコ70内を真空引きすることで、複合多孔質体1を透過したろ液がフラスコ70に貯まる。真空度は、80Pa以下である。ろ液に含まれる粒子の濃度を測定する。
試験液がPEGを含む場合、試験液は、PEGの質量基準の濃度が3000ppmの溶液を用いる。この場合、ろ液に含まれるポリマー濃度(以下「ろ液濃度」とも記す。)は、試験液およびろ液の全有機体炭素測定により得られた炭素量[mg/L]に基づき、下記式により算出される。

粒子の平均粒径の小さい試験液から順に、上記の手順で通液試験を行う。ろ液における粒子の濃度が、試験液における粒子の濃度の10%以下になる試験液の粒子の平均粒径のうち、最小の粒子の平均粒径をカーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径とみなす。例えば、粒子の平均粒径が10nmの試験液では、ろ液における粒子の濃度が試験液における粒子の濃度の90%であり、粒子の平均粒径が15nmの試験液では、ろ液における粒子の濃度が試験液における粒子の濃度の5%であり、粒子の平均粒径が25nmの試験液では、ろ液における粒子の濃度が試験液における粒子の濃度の5%である場合、カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径は15nmである。
基材2の第一面21における平均孔径に対するカーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径の比率は、例えば0.01以上1以下ある。上記比率が0.01以上であると、基材2の第一面21における平均孔径とカーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径との差が大きくなり過ぎず、第一面21上にカーボンナノチューブ層3が適切に構成され易い。上記比率が1以下であると、カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均孔径が基材2の第一面21における平均孔径と同じまたは基材2の第一面21における平均孔径よりもが小さくなり、カーボンナノチューブ層3によるろ過性能が向上する。上記比率は、0.05以上0.8以下、0.1以上0.5以下、または0.2以上0.4以下であってもよい。
カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均厚さは、100nm以上10000nm以下でもよく、500nm以上5000nm以下でもよく、または、1000nm以上3000nm以下でもよい。カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均厚さが100nm以上であると、カーボンナノチューブ層3によって効率的に不純物を分離し易い、つまりろ過性能が向上し易い。カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均厚さが10000nm以下であると、カーボンナノチューブ層3を含む複合多孔質体1によるろ過時間が長くなり過ぎない、つまり通液性が向上しやすい。カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均厚さが5000nm以下であると、カーボンナノチューブ層3を含む複合多孔質体1は可とう性に優れる。
カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均厚さは、基材2の平均厚さと同様の求め方で求められる。SEM-EDXによって求めた基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との境界からカーボンナノチューブ層3の表面30までの距離がカーボンナノチューブ層3の厚さである。SEM画像の倍率は、10000倍である。SEM画像のサイズは、8μm×11μmである。カーボンナノチューブ層3の平均厚さは、カーボンナノチューブ層3における異なる5点の厚さを平均したものである。カーボンナノチューブ層の厚みがSEM-EDXで測定困難な場合は、FIB-SEMによって基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との境界からカーボンナノチューブ層3の表面30までの距離を測定する。この距離がカーボンナノチューブ層3の厚みに該当する。画像倍率はカーボンナノチューブ膜厚に応じて適宜設定する。例えば、画像倍率は、×8000、×15,000または×30,000とする。
カーボンナノチューブ層3は、例えば、複数のカーボンナノチューブをシート化したカーボンナノチューブシートを含んでもよい。カーボンナノチューブシートは、本開示の効果を損なわない限り、カーボンナノチューブ以外の成分を含んでいてもよい。該成分としては、分散剤、バインダー成分が挙げられる。分散剤としては、例えば、ドデシル硫酸ナトリウム、ドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸ナトリウム、カルボキシメチルセルロース、ポリカルカルボン酸等のカーボンナノチューブを媒体へ分散させる化合物が挙げられる。バインダー成分としては、例えば、アクリル系、シリコン系樹脂が挙げられる。
カーボンナノチューブ層3は、カーボンナノチューブと、親水性ポリマーとを含んでもよい。カーボンナノチューブ層3は、カーボンナノチューブと、親水性ポリマーとからなってもよい。カーボンナノチューブ層3は、カーボンナノチューブと、親水性ポリマーと、上記のバインダー成分、とを含んでもよい。カーボンナノチューブ層3は、カーボンナノチューブと、親水性ポリマーと、上記の分散剤、バインダー成分、とからなってもよい。
<親水性ポリマー>
実施形態1において、複合多孔質体1は、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3とを結合させる親水性ポリマー5を含む。本開示において、複合多孔質体1が、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3とを結合させる親水性ポリマー5を含むことは、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との剥離強度T1を測定することにより確認される。本開示において、基材とカーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T1は、JIS Z 0237:2009の「粘着テープ・粘着シート試験方法」に準拠して、90°剥離試験を行うことにより測定される。複合多孔質体がシート形状の場合、測定条件は以下の通りである。

10個のサンプルのそれぞれにおいて剥離強度(単位:N)を測定する。各サンプルにおいて、3mm幅の剥離テープに付着したカーボンナノチューブの幅(単位:mm)をマイクロスコープで評価する。剥離強度(単位:N)を、テープに付着したカーボンナノチューブ幅で割った値を20倍して、剥離強度(単位:N/20mm)を求める。10個のサンプルの剥離強度(単位:N/20mm)の算術平均を求める。該算術平均が、複合多孔質体の剥離強度T1に該当する。
基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との剥離強度T1が0.4N/20mm以上である場合、複合多孔質体1が、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3とを結合させる親水性ポリマー5を含むことが確認される。また、本開示において、剥離強度T1が0.4N/20mm以上である場合、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上していると判断される。
なお、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる基材2の直上にカーボンナノチューブ層3が配置され、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3とを結合させる親水性ポリマー5が存在しない場合は、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との剥離強度T1は0.4N/20mm未満、または、0.3N/20mm以下である。また、非特許文献1のように、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる基材2の直上にカーボンナノチューブ層3が配置され、カーボンナノチューブ層3がバインダー成分のポリドーパミンを含む場合は、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との剥離強度T1は0.3N/20mm以下である。
実施形態1において、基材とカーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T1は、0.4N/20mm以上であり、0.6N/20mm以上でもよく、0.7N/20mm以上でもよく、1.0N/20mm以上でもよく、または、1.1N/20mm以上でもよい。剥離強度T1は、4.0N/20mm以下でもよく、3.0N/20mm以下でもよく、2.8N/20mm以下でもよく、2.5N/20mm以下でもよく、または、2.2N/20mm以下でもよい。剥離強度T1は、0.4N/20mm以上4.0N/20mm以下でもよく、0.7N/20mm以上3.0N/20mm以下でもよく、または、1.0N/20mm以上2.5N/20mm以下でもよい。
本開示の理解を深めるために、親水性ポリマー5の存在形態について、図3を用いて説明する。なお、説明の便宜のため、図3には、カーボンナノチューブは示されていない。図3に示されるように、親水性ポリマー5は、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との界面(図3では、第一面21に相当)をまたいで存在し、これにより、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3とが結合している。親水性ポリマー5が、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との界面をまたいで存在することは、基材2、および、カーボンナノチューブ層3が親水性ポリマー5を含み、親水性ポリマー5が、カーボンナノチューブ層3と基材2とにわたり界面をまたいで連続して存在するとも表現することができる。
親水性ポリマー5は、基材2、および、カーボンナノチューブ層3の全体に存在していてもよい。また、本開示の効果を損なわない限り、親水性ポリマー5は、基材2の少なくとも一部の領域に存在していなくてもよい。
複合多孔質体1に含まれるポリマーが親水性であることは、カーボンナノチューブ層3の表面の接触角α1を測定することにより確認される。本開示において、カーボンナノチューブ層3の表面の接触角α1が、65°以下の場合、複合多孔質体1に含まれるポリマーが親水性であり、また、カーボンナノチューブ層3の表面が親水性であることが確認される。本開示において、カーボンナノチューブ層3の表面の接触角α1の測定は、カーボンナノチューブ層3の主面において、JIS R 3257:1999「静適法」に準拠して測定される。水滴容量は1μlとし、カーボンナノチューブ層3に着滴から1s後の接触角を10点測定する。これらの測定値の算術平均をカーボンナノチューブ層3の表面の接触角α1とする。
複合多孔質体1において、カーボンナノチューブ層3上に他の層が形成されており、カーボンナノチューブ層3の主面が外部に露出していない場合は、他の層を除去してカーボンナノチューブ層3の主面を外部に露出させた後、カーボンナノチューブ層3の表面の接触角α1を測定する。他の層の除去方法は、例えば、薬液除去やミクロトーム、イオンミリングを用いた研磨除去である。
親水性ポリマー5は、架橋していてもよい。親水性ポリマー5が架橋していることは、基材とカーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T1に対する、複合多孔質体を25℃の水に3分間浸漬後の基材とカーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T2の百分率(T2/T1)×100を測定することにより確認される。本開示において、百分率(T2/T1)×100が30%以上の場合、親水性ポリマー5が架橋していることが確認される。ここで、剥離強度T1および剥離強度T2の単位は、N/20mmであり、剥離強度T1および剥離強度T2は、温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で、JIS Z 0237:2009の「粘着テープ・粘着シート試験方法」に準拠して、90°剥離試験を行うことにより測定される。
剥離強度T1は、複合多孔質体を25℃の水に3分間浸漬する前に測定され、その測定条件は、上記の剥離強度T1の測定条件に記載の通りである。剥離強度T2の測定条件は、複合多孔質体を25℃の水に3分間浸漬後に測定する点以外は、基本的に剥離強度T1の測定条件と同一である。BASUS板にアクリル系粘着剤の両面テープを貼り付け、その上に、水から取り出した複合多孔質体からなるサンプルのカーボンナノチューブ層3を貼り付ける。両面テープへのサンプルの貼り付けは、サンプルを水から取り出した後、即時行われる。更に、サンプルの上に剥離テープを貼り付け、2kgのローラーを3往復させる。両面テープへサンプルを貼り付けた後、3分以内に剥離強度T2の測定を行う。
実施形態1において、上記百分率(T2/T1)×100は、30%以上でもよく、40%以上でもよく、50%以上でもよく、または、60%以上でもよい。百分率(T2/T1)×100は、90%以下でもよく、81%以下でもよく、80%以下でもよく、または、75%以下でもよい。百分率(T2/T1)×100は、30%以上90%以下でもよく、40%以上80%以下でもよく、または、50%以上75%以下でもよい。
親水性ポリマー5は、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリアクリル酸、ポリアクリルアミド、ポリエチレングリコール、ポリアリルアミン、ポリエチレンイミン、ポリビニルピロリドン、ポリスチレンスルホン酸、ポリオキサゾリン、酢酸セルロース、および、エチレンビニルアルコール共重合樹脂からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含んでもよい。親水性ポリマー5は、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリアクリル酸、ポリアクリルアミド、ポリエチレングリコール、ポリアリルアミン、ポリエチレンイミン、ポリビニルピロリドン、ポリスチレンスルホン酸、ポリオキサゾリン、酢酸セルロース、および、エチレンビニルアルコール共重合樹脂からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種からなってもよい。
親水性ポリマー5は、生産性の観点から、ポリビニルアルコール(PVA)およびポリエチレンイミン(PEI)の一方または両方を含んでもよい。親水性ポリマー5は、ポリビニルアルコールおよびポリエチレンイミンの一方または両方からなってもよい。
親水性ポリマー5は、ポリエチレンイミンの架橋体を含んでいてもよい。親水性ポリマー5は、ポリエチレンイミンの架橋体からなってもよい。
本開示の効果を損なわない限り、不可避不純物を含んでもよい。不可避不純物としては、例えば、カーボンナノチューブ製造に用いられるコバルト、鉄等の触媒由来の金属元素または埃に由来するケイ素、アルミ元素等の物質が挙げられる。
親水性ポリマー5の組成比は、X線光電子分光法(XPS)、飛行時間型二次イオン質量分析法(TOF-SIMS)、および、固体NMRの分析を組み合わせて測定される。X線光電子分光法(XPS)の測定装置はアルバック・ファイ社製の「PHI Quantera SXM」(商標)を用いることができる。測定条件はビーム径100μmφであり、加速電圧は15kVである。飛行時間型二次イオン質量分析法(TOF-SIMS)の測定装置はアルバック・ファイ社製の「PHI nano TOF II」(商標)を用いることができる。測定条件は一時イオンがBiであり、加速電圧は30kV、照射領域は100μm角である。固体NMRの測定装置は日本電子社製の「ECA700」(商標)を用いることができる。
<カーボンナノチューブ層の接触角の変化率>
実施形態1において、カーボンナノチューブ層を25℃のN-メチル-2-ピロリドンに45日間浸漬後のカーボンナノチューブ層の表面の接触角α2が25°以上65°以下であり、浸漬前の前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面の接触角α1に対する、接触角α2と接触角α1との差α2-α1の百分率{(α2-α1)/α1}×100は、40%以下でもよい。本開示において、接触角α1およびα2が上記の条件を満たす場合、複合多孔質体は、優れた耐溶剤性を有すると判断される。
実施形態1において、カーボンナノチューブ層を25℃のN-メチル-2-ピロリドンに45日間浸漬後のカーボンナノチューブ層の表面の接触角α2が25°以上65°以下であり、浸漬前の前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面の接触角α1に対する、接触角α2と接触角α1との差α2-α1の百分率{(α2-α1)/α1}×100は、40%以下でもよい。本開示において、接触角α1およびα2が上記の条件を満たす場合、複合多孔質体は、優れた耐溶剤性を有すると判断される。
接触角α2は、30°以上60°以下でもよく、または、35°以上60°以下でもよく、または、41°以上60°以下でもよい。百分率{(α2-α1)/α1}×100は、3%以上40%以下でもよく、5%以上30%以下でもよく、または、10%以上25%以下でもよい。
接触角α1および接触角α2は、カーボンナノチューブ層3の主面において、JIS R 3257:1999「静適法」に準拠して測定される。接触角α2の測定は、サンプルをN-メチル-2-ピロリドンから取り出した後に、純水でN-メチル-2-ピロリドンを置換した後、乾燥したサンプルで行われる。測定装置は、サンプルがシート形状の場合、協和界面科学社製の「DMo-502」(商標)を用いることができる。測定条件として温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で水1μLがサンプルに接触してから1秒経過後の接触角を測定する。測定装置は、サンプルがチューブ形状の場合、協和界面科学社製の「MCA-4」(商標)を用いることができる。測定条件として温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で水300pLがサンプルに接触してから1秒経過後の接触角を測定する。
<剥離評価試験>
実施形態1の複合多孔質体は、下記の条件で行われる剥離評価試験において、カーボンナノチューブのポリテトラフルオロエチレン製の丸棒への付着が確認されなくてもよい。
剥離評価試験の条件
ステンレスプレートに、防水両面テープを用いて、複合多孔質体からなるサンプルを貼り付ける。この時、防水両面テープは、サンプルの基材側の主面に貼り付けられている。サンプルを水に2分間浸漬後、水から取り出す。その後、30秒以内に、サンプルのカーボンナノチューブ層の表面に、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン製の直径5mmの丸棒の先端面を7gfの力で押し付けながら、丸棒をカーボンナノチューブ層の表面に沿って50mmスライドさせる。その後、丸棒をカーボンナノチューブ層の表面から離して、丸棒の先端面を目視で観察し、丸棒へのカーボンナノチューブの付着の有無を確認する。
実施形態1の複合多孔質体は、下記の条件で行われる剥離評価試験において、カーボンナノチューブのポリテトラフルオロエチレン製の丸棒への付着が確認されなくてもよい。

ステンレスプレートは、特に制限されず、従来公知のステンレスプレートを用いることができる。防水両面テープは、特に制限されず、従来公知の防水両面テープを用いることがでいる。防水両面テープとしては、例えば、ニトムズ製の「強力両面テープ(防水用)」(商標)が挙げられる。
PTFE製の丸棒の先端面がカーボンナノチューブ層に接するように、カーボンナノチューブ層に丸棒を押し付ける。
複合多孔質体がシート形状の場合、カーボンナノチューブ層の表面において、PTFE製の丸棒をスライドさせる方向は特に制限されない。後述の実施形態2に記載の通り、複合多孔質体がチューブ形状の場合、カーボンナノチューブ層の表面において、PTFE製の丸棒をスライドさせる方向は、複合多孔質体の長手方向に沿う方向とする。
[実施形態2:複合多孔質体(2)]
本開示の一実施形態(以下「実施形態2」とも記す。)に係る複合多孔質体について、図5を用いて説明する。図5に示されるように、実施形態2に係る複合多孔質体1は、チューブ形状である。実施形態2に係る複合多孔質体1は、チューブ形状である点以外は、実施形態1の複合多孔質体1と同一の構成を有することができる。
本開示の一実施形態(以下「実施形態2」とも記す。)に係る複合多孔質体について、図5を用いて説明する。図5に示されるように、実施形態2に係る複合多孔質体1は、チューブ形状である。実施形態2に係る複合多孔質体1は、チューブ形状である点以外は、実施形態1の複合多孔質体1と同一の構成を有することができる。
複合多孔質体1の基材2はチューブ形状である。チューブ形状の基材2の第一面21は基材2の外周面を構成する。第一面21上に形成されるカーボンナノチューブ層3は、チューブ形状の複合多孔質体1の外周面を構成する。
チューブ形状の基材の外径および内径は、用途によって適宜設定することができる。チューブ形状の基材の外径は、例えば、1.0mm以上2.5mm以下でもよい。チューブ形状の基材の内径は、例えば、0.3mm以上1.5mm以下でもよい。
[実施形態3:複合多孔質体の製造方法]
本開示の一実施形態(以下「実施形態3」とも記す。)に係る複合多孔質体の製造方法について説明する。実施形態3の複合多孔質体の製造方法は、実施形態1または実施形態2の複合多孔質体を製造する方法である。図6に示されるように、実施形態3の複合多孔質体の製造方法は、第一面を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層を含む基材を準備する工程(以下「基材準備工程S1」とも記す。)と、カーボンナノチューブ分散液に親水性ポリマーを混合してカーボンナノチューブ混合液を得る工程(以下「カーボンナノチューブ混合液準備工程S2」とも記す。)と、基材の第一面に、カーボンナノチューブ混合液を塗布して、カーボンナノチューブ層を成膜して、複合多孔質体を得る工程(以下「複合多孔質体を得る工程S3」とも記す。)と、を備える。
本開示の一実施形態(以下「実施形態3」とも記す。)に係る複合多孔質体の製造方法について説明する。実施形態3の複合多孔質体の製造方法は、実施形態1または実施形態2の複合多孔質体を製造する方法である。図6に示されるように、実施形態3の複合多孔質体の製造方法は、第一面を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層を含む基材を準備する工程(以下「基材準備工程S1」とも記す。)と、カーボンナノチューブ分散液に親水性ポリマーを混合してカーボンナノチューブ混合液を得る工程(以下「カーボンナノチューブ混合液準備工程S2」とも記す。)と、基材の第一面に、カーボンナノチューブ混合液を塗布して、カーボンナノチューブ層を成膜して、複合多孔質体を得る工程(以下「複合多孔質体を得る工程S3」とも記す。)と、を備える。
<基材準備工程S1>
基材準備工程S1では、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層2Aを含む基材2を用意する。基材2は、実施形態1に記載の基材2と同一である。

基材2の作製方法は特に限定されない。例えば、特開2010-94579号公報に開示される製造方法によって、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層が作製されても良い。PTFEからなる薄膜が延伸されることで、薄膜が多孔質化する。その結果、PTFEの多孔質体からなる第一層2Aが得られる。基材2の平均孔径は、延伸の条件によって変化する。第一層2Aをそのまま基材2として用いてもよい。第一層2Aを、第二層2Bと貼り合わせて、基材2を作製してもよい。第二層2Bの詳細は、実施形態1に記載の通りである。
<カーボンナノチューブ混合液準備工程S2>
カーボンナノチューブ混合液準備工程S2では、カーボンナノチューブ分散液に親水性ポリマーを混合してカーボンナノチューブ混合液を得る。基材準備工程S1およびカーボンナノチューブ混合液準備工程S2は、いずれか先に行われてもよいし、同時に行われてもよい。
カーボンナノチューブ混合液準備工程S2では、カーボンナノチューブ分散液に親水性ポリマーを混合してカーボンナノチューブ混合液を得る。基材準備工程S1およびカーボンナノチューブ混合液準備工程S2は、いずれか先に行われてもよいし、同時に行われてもよい。
カーボンナノチューブ分散液では、分散媒中にカーボンナノチューブが分散されている。分散媒は、例えば、水、エタノール、イソプロピルアルコール、アセトン、ジメチルスルホキシド、酢酸ブチル、および、メチルエチルケトンからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種が挙げられる。分散媒は、さらに界面活性剤を含んでいてもよい。カーボンナノチューブ分散媒中のカーボンナノチューブの含有率は、0.01質量%以上15質量%以下でもよい。
親水性ポリマーは、実施形態1に記載の親水性ポリマーと同一である。カーボンナノチューブ混合液中の親水性ポリマーの含有率は、0.01質量%以上0.5質量%以下でもよい。カーボンナノチューブ混合液中の親水性ポリマーの含有率が0.01質量%以上であると、カーボンナノチューブ層がポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体から剥離しにくくなる。カーボンナノチューブ混合液中の親水性ポリマーの含有率が0.5質量%以下であると、混合液中のカーボンナノチューブの凝集が抑制され、均一なカーボンナノチューブ層が得られやすい。
カーボンナノチューブ混合液中のカーボンナノチューブの含有率は、0.01質量%以上0.5質量%以下でもよい。カーボンナノチューブの含有率が0.01質量%以上であると、カーボンナノチューブ混合液中のカーボンナノチューブの量が十分であるため、第一面21にカーボンナノチューブが堆積され易い。カーボンナノチューブの含有率が0.5質量%以下であると、カーボンナノチューブの分散性を損なわず均一に第一面21上に塗工することができる。
<複合多孔質体を得る工程S3>
複合多孔質体を得る工程S3では、基材2の第一面21に、カーボンナノチューブ混合液を塗布して、カーボンナノチューブ層3を成膜し(以下「CNT層成膜工程S31」とも記す。)、複合多孔質体1を得る。カーボンナノチューブ混合液は、例えば、バーコーターを用いて第一面21上に塗布することができる。
複合多孔質体を得る工程S3では、基材2の第一面21に、カーボンナノチューブ混合液を塗布して、カーボンナノチューブ層3を成膜し(以下「CNT層成膜工程S31」とも記す。)、複合多孔質体1を得る。カーボンナノチューブ混合液は、例えば、バーコーターを用いて第一面21上に塗布することができる。
複合多孔質体を得る工程S3は、CNT層成膜工程S31によりカーボンナノチューブ層3が成膜された基材2を、親水性ポリマーに浸漬する工程、または、カーボンナノチューブ層に、親水性ポリマーを塗布する工程(以下、「浸漬または塗布工程S32」とも記す。)を含んでもよい。これにより、基材2の空孔内部およびカーボンナノチューブ層の内部に親水性ポリマーが侵入する。ここで用いられる親水性ポリマーは、カーボンナノチューブ混合液中の親水性ポリマーと同一である。
複合多孔質体を得る工程S3は、親水性ポリマーを架橋する工程(「架橋工程S33」とも記す。)を含んでもよい。
複合多孔質体を得る工程S3は、親水性ポリマーに浸漬する工程の後、または、親水性ポリマーを塗布する工程の後(浸漬または塗布工程S32の後)、親水性ポリマーを架橋する工程(「架橋工程S33」)を含んでもよい。複合多孔質体を得る工程S3が浸漬または塗布工程S32を含まない場合でも、カーボンナノチューブ層を成膜した後、架橋工程S33を行うことができる。
架橋工程S33では、基材2が浸漬された親水性ポリマーに、架橋剤を添加することにより、親水性ポリマーを架橋してもよい。また、架橋工程S33では、親水性ポリマーに浸漬する工程の後、または、親水性ポリマーを塗布する工程の後(浸漬または塗布工程S32の後)、架橋剤を含む架橋液へ基材2を浸漬することにより、親水性ポリマーを架橋してもよい。
架橋剤の種類は、親水性ポリマーの種類により、適宜選択される。架橋剤は、例えば、グルタルアルデヒドまたはエポキシ化合物でもよい。エポキシ化合物は、エチレングリコールジグリシジルエーテルでもよい。具体的には、エポキシ化合物は、ナガセケムテックス社製の「デナコール」(商標)でもよい。
本実施の形態を実施例によりさらに具体的に説明する。ただし、これらの実施例により本実施の形態が限定されるものではない。
[複合多孔質体の作製]
以下の手順で、各試料の複合多孔質体を作製した。

基材準備工程S1では、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる基材を用意した。基材の平均厚さは130μmであった。基材の平均孔径は300nmであった。各試料の基材の形状は、表1に示されるとおりである。基材がチューブ形状の場合、基材の外径は1.6mmであった。

カーボンナノチューブ混合液準備工程S2では、カーボンナノチューブ分散液に親水性ポリマーを混合してカーボンナノチューブ混合液を得た。カーボンナノチューブ分散液の分散媒は水であった。カーボンナノチューブ分散媒中のカーボンナノチューブの含有率は、3質量%であった。カーボンナノチューブ分散媒中の親水性ポリマーの含有率は、0.03質量%であった。
カーボンナノチューブ混合液準備工程S2では、カーボンナノチューブ分散液に親水性ポリマーを混合してカーボンナノチューブ混合液を得た。カーボンナノチューブ分散液の分散媒は水であった。カーボンナノチューブ分散媒中のカーボンナノチューブの含有率は、3質量%であった。カーボンナノチューブ分散媒中の親水性ポリマーの含有率は、0.03質量%であった。
各試料で用いた親水性ポリマーの種類は、表1に記載の通りである。なお、試料1-1では、親水性ポリマーに代えて、ポリドーパミン(PDA)を用いた。ポリドーパミンは、親水性ポリマーではないが、便宜上、表1の「親水性ポリマー」欄に記載されている。
<複合多孔質体を得る工程S3>
基材の第一面に、カーボンナノチューブ混合液を塗布してカーボンナノチューブ層を成膜した。カーボンナノチューブ混合液は、バーコーターを用いて第一面上に塗布された。

表1の「親水性ポリマーへの浸漬」欄に「有」と記載されている試料では、カーボンナノチューブ層3が成膜された基材2を親水性ポリマー(ただし、試料1-1では、ポリドーパミン)に浸漬することにより、複合多孔質体を得た。ここで用いられた親水性ポリマーは、カーボンナノチューブ混合液中の親水性ポリマーと同一であった。同欄に「無」と記載されている試料では、該工程を行わなかった。
次に、表1の「架橋液への浸漬」欄に「有」と記載されている試料では、複合多孔質体を、架橋剤(親水性ポリマーがPEIの場合はナガセケムテックス社製の「デナコール」(商標)、親水性ポリマーがPVAの場合はグルタルアルデヒド)を含む架橋液に浸漬させて、親水性ポリマーを架橋させた。同欄に「無」と記載されている試料では、該工程を行わなかった。
[評価]
<カーボンナノチューブ層の厚さおよび平均孔径>
各試料のカーボンナノチューブ層の厚さおよび平均孔径を実施形態1に記載の方法で測定した。カーボンナノチューブ層の厚さの測定結果を表2に示す。全ての試料において、カーボンナノチューブ層の平均孔径は、20~60nmの範囲内であった。
<カーボンナノチューブ層の厚さおよび平均孔径>
各試料のカーボンナノチューブ層の厚さおよび平均孔径を実施形態1に記載の方法で測定した。カーボンナノチューブ層の厚さの測定結果を表2に示す。全ての試料において、カーボンナノチューブ層の平均孔径は、20~60nmの範囲内であった。

各試料の複合多孔質体において、カーボンナノチューブ層を25℃のN-メチル-2-ピロリドンに45日間浸漬後のカーボンナノチューブ層の表面の接触角α2、および、浸漬前のカーボンナノチューブ層の表面の接触角α1を、実施形態1に記載の方法で測定した。測定値に基づき、接触角α1に対する、接触角α2と接触角α1との差α2-α1の百分率{(α2-α1)/α1}×100を算出した。結果を表2に示す。接触角α1が65°以下の場合、カーボンナノチューブ層の表面が親水性であることが確認される。接触角α2が25°以上65°以下であり、百分率{(α2-α1)/α1}×100が40%以下の場合、複合多孔質体は、優れた耐溶剤性を有すると判断される。
<剥離強度T1の測定>
各試料の複合多孔質体において、基材とカーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T1を、実施形態1に記載の方法で測定した。結果を表3に示す。剥離強度T1が0.4N/20mm以上である場合、複合多孔質体が、基材とカーボンナノチューブ層とを結合させる親水性ポリマーを含むこと、および、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上していることが確認される。
各試料の複合多孔質体において、基材とカーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T1を、実施形態1に記載の方法で測定した。結果を表3に示す。剥離強度T1が0.4N/20mm以上である場合、複合多孔質体が、基材とカーボンナノチューブ層とを結合させる親水性ポリマーを含むこと、および、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上していることが確認される。
基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3との剥離強度T1が0.4N/20mm以上である場合、複合多孔質体1が、基材2とカーボンナノチューブ層3とを結合させる親水性ポリマー5を含むことが確認される。また、本開示において、剥離強度T1が0.4N/20mm以上である場合、基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上していると判断される。
<水に浸漬後の剥離強度T2の測定>
各試料の複合多孔質体において、複合多孔質体を25℃の水に3分間浸漬後の基材とカーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T2を、実施形態1に記載の方法で測定した。測定値に基づき、剥離強度T1に対する、剥離強度T2の百分率(T2/T1)×100を算出した。結果を表3に示す。百分率(T2/T1)×100が30%以上の場合、親水性ポリマーが架橋していることが確認される。
各試料の複合多孔質体において、複合多孔質体を25℃の水に3分間浸漬後の基材とカーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T2を、実施形態1に記載の方法で測定した。測定値に基づき、剥離強度T1に対する、剥離強度T2の百分率(T2/T1)×100を算出した。結果を表3に示す。百分率(T2/T1)×100が30%以上の場合、親水性ポリマーが架橋していることが確認される。
<剥離評価試験>
各試料の複合多孔質体において、下記の条件で剥離評価試験を行った。

ステンレスプレートに、防水両面テープを用いて、複合多孔質体からなるサンプルを貼り付ける。この時、防水両面テープは、サンプルの基材側の主面に貼り付けられている。サンプルを水に2分間浸漬後、水から取り出す。その後、30秒以内に、サンプルのカーボンナノチューブ層の表面に、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン製の直径5mmの丸棒の先端面を7gfの力で押し付けながら、丸棒をカーボンナノチューブ層の表面に沿って50mmスライドさせる。その後、丸棒をカーボンナノチューブ層の表面から離して、丸棒の先端面を目視で観察し、丸棒へのカーボンナノチューブの付着の有無を確認する。
各試料の複合多孔質体において、下記の条件で剥離評価試験を行った。
≪剥離評価試験の条件≫

結果を表4に示す。
[考察]
試料1~試料6の複合多孔質体は、実施例に該当する。試料1-1の複合多孔質体は、比較例に該当する。試料1~試料6の複合多孔質体は、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上し、かつ、カーボンナノチューブ層の表面が親水性であることが確認された。
試料1~試料6の複合多孔質体は、実施例に該当する。試料1-1の複合多孔質体は、比較例に該当する。試料1~試料6の複合多孔質体は、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる基材と、カーボンナノチューブ層との密着力が向上し、かつ、カーボンナノチューブ層の表面が親水性であることが確認された。
以上のように本開示の実施の形態および実施例について説明を行なったが、上述の各実施の形態および実施例の構成を適宜組み合わせたり、様々に変形したりすることも当初から予定している。今回開示された実施の形態および実施例はすべての点で例示であって、制限的なものではないと考えられるべきである。本発明の範囲は上記した実施の形態および実施例ではなく請求の範囲によって示され、請求の範囲と均等の意味、および範囲内でのすべての変更が含まれることが意図される。

Claims (10)
- 第一面を有する基材と、
前記第一面の少なくとも一部を被覆するカーボンナノチューブ層と、
前記基材と前記カーボンナノチューブ層とを結合させる親水性ポリマーと、を備える、複合多孔質体であって、
前記基材は、前記第一面を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層を含み、
前記基材と前記カーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T1は、0.4N/20mm以上であり、
前記剥離強度T1は、温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で、JIS Z 0237:2009に準拠して測定される、複合多孔質体。 - 前記親水性ポリマーは、架橋している、請求項1に記載の複合多孔質体。
- 前記剥離強度T1に対する、前記複合多孔質体を25℃の水に3分間浸漬後の前記基材と前記カーボンナノチューブ層との剥離強度T2の百分率(T2/T1)×100は、30%以上であり、
前記剥離強度T1および前記剥離強度T2の単位は、N/20mmであり、
前記剥離強度T1および前記剥離強度T2は、温度25℃および相対湿度50%の雰囲気中で、JIS Z 0237:2009に準拠して測定される、請求項1または請求項2に記載の複合多孔質体。 - 前記親水性ポリマーは、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリアクリル酸、ポリアクリルアミド、ポリエチレングリコール、ポリアリルアミン、ポリエチレンイミン、ポリビニルピロリドン、ポリスチレンスルホン酸、ポリオキサゾリン、酢酸セルロース、および、エチレンビニルアルコール共重合樹脂からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含む、請求項1から請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の複合多孔質体。
- 前記親水性ポリマーは、ポリビニルアルコールおよびポリエチレンイミンの一方または両方を含む、請求項1から請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の複合多孔質体。
- 前記カーボンナノチューブ層を25℃のN-メチル-2-ピロリドンに45日間浸漬後の前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面の接触角α2が25°以上65°以下であり、
前記浸漬前の前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面の接触角α1に対する、前記接触角α2と前記接触角α1との差α2-α1の百分率{(α2-α1)/α1}×100は、40%以下である、請求項1から請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の複合多孔質体。 - 下記の条件で行われる剥離評価試験において、カーボンナノチューブのポリテトラフルオロエチレン製の丸棒への付着が確認されない、請求項1から請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の複合多孔質体。
剥離評価試験の条件
ステンレスプレートに、防水両面テープを用いて、前記複合多孔質体からなるサンプルを貼り付ける。この時、前記防水両面テープは、前記サンプルの前記基材側の主面に貼り付けられている。前記サンプルを水に2分間浸漬後、水から取り出す。その後、30秒以内に、前記サンプルの前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面に、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン製の直径5mmの丸棒の先端面を7gfの力で押し付けながら、前記丸棒を前記カーボンナノチューブ層の前記表面に沿って50mmスライドさせる。その後、前記丸棒を前記カーボンナノチューブ層の表面から離して、前記丸棒の前記先端面を目視で観察し、前記丸棒へのカーボンナノチューブの付着の有無を確認する。 - 請求項1から請求項7のいずれか1項に記載の複合多孔質体の製造方法であって、
第一面を有するポリテトラフルオロエチレン多孔質体からなる第一層を含む基材を準備する工程と、
カーボンナノチューブ分散液に親水性ポリマーを混合してカーボンナノチューブ混合液を得る工程と、
前記基材の前記第一面に、前記カーボンナノチューブ混合液を塗布して、カーボンナノチューブ層を成膜して、複合多孔質体を得る工程と、を備える、複合多孔質体の製造方法。 - 前記複合多孔質体を得る工程は、前記カーボンナノチューブ層が成膜された前記基材を、親水性ポリマーに浸漬する工程、または、前記カーボンナノチューブ層に、親水性ポリマーを塗布する工程を含む、請求項8に記載の複合多孔質体の製造方法。
- 前記複合多孔質体を得る工程は、前記親水性ポリマーに浸漬する工程の後、または、前記親水性ポリマーを塗布する工程の後、前記親水性ポリマーを架橋する工程を含む、請求項9に記載の複合多孔質体の製造方法。
