  • SiO2 is a component that forms the skeleton of glass. It is also a component that can be particularly involved in the likelihood of phase separation. If the SiO2 content is too low, the linear thermal expansion coefficient tends to be high, making it difficult to obtain glass with excellent heat resistance and thermal shock resistance. Furthermore, chemical durability tends to be reduced. Therefore, the lower limit of the SiO2 content is 45% or more, preferably 50% or more, and more preferably 53% or more, 55% or more, 56% or more, 57% or more, 58% or more, 59% or more, and particularly preferably 60% or more. On the other hand, if the SiO2 content is too high, the homogeneity of the glass melt is likely to decrease.

  • Al 2 O 3 is a component that forms the glass skeleton. It is also a component that can affect the likelihood of phase separation. If the Al 2 O 3 content is too low, the linear thermal expansion coefficient tends to be high, making it difficult to obtain glass with excellent heat resistance and thermal shock resistance. Furthermore, chemical durability is reduced, and the glass surface is more likely to be altered. As a result, the surface irregularities deteriorate, making it difficult to obtain glass with the desired transmittance. Furthermore, rare earth elements are not sufficiently dispersed in the glass, causing concentration quenching and reducing laser amplification and laser oscillation efficiency.

  • B2O3 Since B2O3 is easily mixed in as an impurity, if B2O3 is to be completely removed, the raw material batch becomes expensive and the manufacturing cost tends to increase. In order to suppress the increase in manufacturing cost, B2O3 may be contained in an amount of 0.0001% or more, 0.0003% or more, particularly 0.0005% or more.
  • Li 2 O is a component that reduces the viscosity of glass and improves the meltability and formability of glass. It is also a component that can be involved in phase separation of glass. If the Li 2 O content is too high, the linear thermal expansion coefficient becomes too high, making it difficult to obtain glass with excellent heat resistance and thermal shock resistance. Furthermore, the homogeneity of the glass melt is likely to decrease. In addition, the chemical durability of the glass is reduced, making the glass surface more likely to be altered. Description

 Ln(Lnは、Ce、Nd、Yb、Er、Pr、Sm、Eu、Tb、Dy、Ho及びTmから選択される少なくとも1種)はレーザー発振イオンとしてガラス中で機能する。

={n―n(W/W)}×{W/(W―W)}
