Abstract

本発明の弾性波装置1は、相対的に音響インピーダンスが高い少なくとも1層の高音響インピーダンス層6a,6bと、相対的に音響インピーダンスが低い複数の低音響インピーダンス層とを含む、音響反射膜4と、音響反射膜4上に設けられており、互いに対向している第1の主面7a及び第2の主面7bを有する圧電体層7と、圧電体層7の第1の主面7aに設けられており、複数の電極指を有するIDT電極8とを備える。低音響インピーダンス層及び高音響インピーダンス層は交互に積層されている。複数の低音響インピーダンス層は、少なくとも1層の第1の低音響インピーダンス層5aと、少なくとも1層の第2の低音響インピーダンス層15b,15cとを含む。第1の低音響インピーダンス層5aの密度をρ1、ヤング率をE1とし、第2の低音響インピーダンス層15b,15cの密度をρ2、ヤング率をE2としたときに、ρ1>ρ2及びE1>E2のうち少なくとも一方が満たされている。

Description

弾性波装置
 本発明は、弾性波装置に関する。
 従来、弾性波装置は、携帯電話機のフィルタなどに広く用いられている。下記の特許文献1には、弾性波装置の例が開示されている。この弾性波装置においては、支持基板上に音響反射層が設けられている。音響反射層上に圧電体層が設けられている。圧電体層上にIDT(Interdigital Transducer)電極が設けられている。
 音響反射層は、低音響インピーダンス層と、高音響インピーダンス層とが交互に積層されてなる。高音響インピーダンス層の音響インピーダンスは、低音響インピーダンス層の音響インピーダンスよりも高い。特許文献1には、音響反射層が、SiOからなる3層の低音響インピーダンス層と、Wからなる3層の高音響インピーダンス層とにより構成されている例が挙げられている。他の例として、音響反射層が、SiOからなる5層の低音響インピーダンス層と、AlNからなる5層の高音響インピーダンス層とにより構成されている例なども挙げられている。音響反射層を設けることによって、圧電体層に弾性波のエネルギーを閉じ込めることが図られている。

 しかしながら、特許文献1のような弾性波装置においては、不要波を十分に抑制することができないおそれがある。
 本発明の目的は、不要波を抑制することができる、弾性波装置を提供することにある。
 本発明に係る弾性波装置は、相対的に音響インピーダンスが高い少なくとも1層の高音響インピーダンス層と、相対的に音響インピーダンスが低い複数の低音響インピーダンス層とを含む、音響反射膜と、前記音響反射膜上に設けられており、互いに対向している第1の主面及び第2の主面を有する圧電体層と、前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面に設けられており、複数の電極指を有するIDT電極とを備え、前記低音響インピーダンス層及び前記高音響インピーダンス層が交互に積層されており、前記複数の低音響インピーダンス層が、少なくとも1層の第1の低音響インピーダンス層と、少なくとも1層の第2の低音響インピーダンス層とを含み、前記第1の低音響インピーダンス層の密度をρ1、ヤング率をE1とし、前記第2の低音響インピーダンス層の密度をρ2、ヤング率をE2としたときに、ρ1>ρ2及びE1>E2のうち少なくとも一方が満たされている。
 本発明に係る弾性波装置によれば、不要波を抑制することができる。

 以下、図面を参照しつつ、本発明の具体的な実施形態を説明することにより、本発明を明らかにする。
 なお、本明細書に記載の各実施形態は、例示的なものであり、異なる実施形態間において、構成の部分的な置換または組み合わせが可能であることを指摘しておく。
 図1は、本発明の第1の実施形態に係る弾性波装置の模式的平面図である。図2は、図1中のI-I線に沿う模式的断面図である。
 図1に示すように、弾性波装置1は、圧電性基板2と、IDT電極8とを有する。圧電性基板2は圧電性を有する基板である。図2に示すように、圧電性基板2は、支持基板3と、音響反射膜4と、圧電体層7とを有する。具体的には、支持基板3上に音響反射膜4が設けられている。音響反射膜4上に圧電体層7が設けられている。
 支持基板3の材料としては、例えば、シリコンなどの半導体や、酸化アルミニウムなどのセラミックスなどを用いることができる。圧電体層7は、例えば、LiNbOなどのニオブ酸リチウムからなっていてもよく、あるいは、LiTaOなどのタンタル酸リチウムからなっていてもよい。なお、本実施形態では、圧電体層7はニオブ酸リチウムからなる。本明細書において、ある部材がある材料からなるとは、弾性波装置の電気的特性が大きく劣化しない程度の微量な不純物が含まれる場合を含む。
 圧電体層7は第1の主面7a及び第2の主面7bを有する。第1の主面7a及び第2の主面7bは互いに対向している。本実施形態では、第1の主面7a及び第2の主面7bのうち、第2の主面7bが音響反射膜4側に位置している。圧電体層7の第1の主面7aにはIDT電極8が設けられている。
 図1に示すように、IDT電極8は、1対のバスバーと、複数の電極指とを有する。1対のバスバーは、具体的には、第1のバスバー16及び第2のバスバー17である。第1のバスバー16及び第2のバスバー17は互いに対向している。複数の電極指は、具体的には、複数の第1の電極指18及び複数の第2の電極指19である。複数の第1の電極指18の一端はそれぞれ、第1のバスバー16に接続されている。複数の第2の電極指19の一端はそれぞれ、第2のバスバー17に接続されている。複数の第1の電極指18及び複数の第2の電極指19は互いに間挿し合っている。第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19は、互いに異なる電位に接続される。IDT電極8は、積層金属膜からなっていてもよく、あるいは、単層の金属膜からなっていてもよい。
 以下においては、第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19をまとめて、単に電極指と記載することがある。複数の電極指が延びる方向を電極指延伸方向とし、電極指延伸方向と直交する方向を電極指直交方向とする。
 図2に示すように、音響反射膜4は、複数の音響インピーダンス層を含む積層体である。具体的には、音響反射膜4は、複数の低音響インピーダンス層と、複数の高音響インピーダンス層とを有する。低音響インピーダンス層及び高音響インピーダンス層は交互に積層されている。
 なお、少なくとも、音響反射膜4における最も圧電体層7側の音響インピーダンス層の材料は、低比誘電率の材料であることが好ましい。具体的には、該音響インピーダンス層の材料は、比誘電率が30以下の材料であることが好ましい。少なくとも、音響反射膜4における最も圧電体層7側の音響インピーダンス層の材料は、比誘電率が15以下の材料であることがより好ましい。この場合、弾性波装置1のより一層の広帯域化が可能となる。ここでいう広帯域化とは、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の差の絶対値を大きくすることを指す。
 高音響インピーダンス層は、相対的に音響インピーダンスが高い層である。より詳細には、高音響インピーダンス層は、音響反射膜4において隣接する層よりも、音響インピーダンスが高い層である。音響反射膜4における複数の高音響インピーダンス層は、より具体的には、高音響インピーダンス層6a及び高音響インピーダンス層6bである。
 一方で、低音響インピーダンス層は、相対的に音響インピーダンスが低い層である。より詳細には、低音響インピーダンス層は、音響反射膜4において隣接する層よりも、音響インピーダンスが低い層である。音響反射膜4における複数の低音響インピーダンス層は、具体的には、少なくとも1層の第1の低音響インピーダンス層と、少なくとも1層の第2の低音響インピーダンス層とを含む。より具体的には、本実施形態の複数の低音響インピーダンス層は、第1の低音響インピーダンス層5a、第2の低音響インピーダンス層15b及び第2の低音響インピーダンス層15cである。
 本実施形態の特徴は、第1の低音響インピーダンス層の密度をρ1、ヤング率をE1とし、第2の低音響インピーダンス層の密度をρ2、ヤング率をE2としたときに、ρ1>ρ2及びE1>E2のうち少なくとも一方が満たされていることにある。これにより、第1の低音響インピーダンス層の音響インピーダンスと、第2の低音響インピーダンス層の音響インピーダンスとが互いに異なる。すなわち、音響反射膜4は、音響インピーダンスが互いに異なる低音響インピーダンス層を含む、複合化された部材である。このような音響反射膜4に不要波が伝搬すると、不要波は散乱され易い。そのため、不要波は圧電体層7側に反射され難い。それによって、不要波を抑制することができる。
 他方、メインモードは、低音響インピーダンス層及び高音響インピーダンス層の界面のうち、最も圧電体層7に近い界面において反射され易い。よって、メインモードを音響反射膜4により、圧電体層7側に好適に反射させることができる。従って、ロスの低減を抑制することができる。
 本発明においては、音響反射膜は、少なくとも1層の第1の低音響インピーダンス層と、少なくとも1層の第2の低音響インピーダンス層と、少なくとも1層の高音響インピーダンス層とを含んでいればよい。
 もっとも、本実施形態のように、音響反射膜4が複数の高音響インピーダンス層を含むことが好ましい。それによって、低音響インピーダンス層と、高音響インピーダンス層との界面が多くなる。これにより、メインモードが音響反射膜4における最も圧電体層7側の界面を通過した場合においても、メインモードを圧電体層7側により確実に反射させることができる。
 一方で、不要波はメインモードよりも音響反射膜4における界面を通過し易い。そして、音響反射膜4は、第1の低音響インピーダンス層及び第2の低音響インピーダンス層を含む。第1の低音響インピーダンス層及び第2の低音響インピーダンス層においては、密度またはヤング率が互いに異なるため、不要波が伝搬する音速も互いに異なる。これにより、不要波の一部が複数の界面において圧電体層7側に反射されたとしても、各界面において反射される不要波同士の位相などを互いに異ならせることができる。よって、不要波に起因する応答を、より確実に小さくすることができる。
 本実施形態では、上記のように、ρ1>ρ2またはE1>E2である。そのため、図2に示す第1の低音響インピーダンス層5aにおける音響インピーダンスは、第2の低音響インピーダンス層15bの音響インピーダンス、及び第2の低音響インピーダンス層15cの音響インピーダンスよりも高い。これにより、第1の低音響インピーダンス層5aのQ値は高い。よって、第1の低音響インピーダンス層5aにおいては、機械的なダンピングが効果的に抑制される。
 ここで、弾性波のエネルギーの集中度は、圧電体層7に近い層ほど高い。そして、高いQ値を有する第1の低音響インピーダンス層5aが、音響反射膜4において最も圧電体層7側に位置している層である。それによって、弾性波のエネルギーが特に集中している層の内部における弾性波の損失を、効果的に小さくすることができる。従って、弾性波装置1においてロスの低減を効果的に抑制することができる。
 以下において、第1の実施形態の構成をより詳細に説明する。
 弾性波装置1は、厚み滑りモードのバルク波をメインモードとして利用可能に構成された弾性波共振子である。より具体的には、弾性波装置1では、圧電体層7の厚みをd、隣り合う第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19の中心間距離をpとした場合、d/pが0.5以下である。それによって、厚み滑りモードのバルク波が好適に励振される。
 図1に示すように、電極指直交方向から見たときに、隣り合う第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19が重なり合っている領域が交叉領域Fである。交叉領域Fは複数の励振領域Cを含む。より具体的には、隣り合う第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19が電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域であり、かつ隣り合う第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19の中心間の領域が励振領域Cである。なお、図1では、複数の励振領域Cのうち2つのみの励振領域Cが示されている。
 IDT電極8に交流電圧を印加することにより、複数の励振領域Cにおいて厚み滑りモードのバルク波が励振される。厚み滑りモードのバルク波の進行方向は、圧電体層7の厚み方向と平行である。そのため、厚み滑りモードのバルク波をメインモードとして利用可能な弾性波装置1では、図2に示す音響反射膜4により弾性波を反射させる構成が、特に好適である。
 音響反射膜4における低音響インピーダンス層の材料としては、例えば、酸化ケイ素などの誘電体や、アルミニウムまたはチタンなどの金属を用いることができる。
 例えば、第1の低音響インピーダンス層及び第2の低音響インピーダンス層の双方の材料として、酸化ケイ素を用いてもよい。この場合には、以下に示す2つの関係のうち少なくとも一方を満たしていればよい。1つ目の関係は、第2の低音響インピーダンス層に用いられる酸化ケイ素の密度が、第1の低音響インピーダンス層に用いられる酸化ケイ素の密度よりも小さい関係である。2つ目の関係は、第2の低音響インピーダンス層に用いられる酸化ケイ素のヤング率が、第1の低音響インピーダンス層に用いられる酸化ケイ素のヤング率よりも小さい関係である。
 第1の低音響インピーダンス層及び第2の低音響インピーダンス層の材料として酸化ケイ素を用いる場合、これらの層は、例えば、スパッタリング法または真空蒸着法により形成することができる。このとき、第1の低音響インピーダンス層を形成する際の条件と、第2の低音響インピーダンス層を形成する際の条件とを互いに異ならせることにより、上記2つの関係のうち少なくとも一方を満たせばよい。
 もっとも、第1の低音響インピーダンス層及び第2の低音響インピーダンス層は、互いに異なる元素を含む材料からなっていてもよい。
 音響反射膜4における高音響インピーダンス層の材料としては、例えば、窒化アルミニウム、窒化ケイ素、酸化イッテルビウム、酸化ハフニウムまたは酸化タングステンなどの誘電体や、白金またはタングステンなどの金属を用いることができる。
 音響反射膜4における、全ての低音響インピーダンス層及び全ての高音響インピーダンス層が、誘電体からなっていてもよい。あるいは、音響反射膜4における、低密度酸化ケイ素層以外の全ての低音響インピーダンス層及び全ての高音響インピーダンス層は、金属からなっていてもよい。なお、全ての低音響インピーダンス層及び全ての高音響インピーダンス層のうちいずれかが誘電体からなる層であり、他のいずれかが金属からなる層であってもよい。ここでいう層とは、音響インピーダンス層である。
 複数の低音響インピーダンス層が、材料として、酸化ケイ素が用いられている低音響インピーダンス層を含んでいることが好ましい。この場合には、弾性波装置1を弾性波共振子としてフィルタ装置に用いた場合に、回路構成上、該弾性波共振子に並列にコンダクタンスが配置された構成となることを抑制できる。もっとも、例えば、複数の低音響インピーダンス層が、材料としてアルミニウムが用いられている低音響インピーダンス層を含んでいてもよい。
 複数の高音響インピーダンス層が、材料として酸化イッテルビウム、酸化ハフニウム及び酸化タングステンのうち少なくとも1種が用いられている高音響インピーダンス層を含んでいることが好ましい。この場合には、弾性波装置1を弾性波共振子としてフィルタ装置に用いた場合に、回路構成上、該弾性波共振子に並列にコンダクタンスが配置された構成となることを抑制できる。
 もっとも、例えば、複数の高音響インピーダンス層が、材料として、白金またはタングステンなどの金属が用いられている高音響インピーダンス層を含んでいてもよい。この場合には、音響インピーダンス比を容易に大きくすることができる。本明細書において音響インピーダンス比とは、隣り合う高音響インピーダンス層及び低音響インピーダンス層において、高音響インピーダンス層の音響インピーダンスを低音響インピーダンス層の音響インピーダンスにより割った値である。音響インピーダンス比が大きいことによって、音響反射膜4により、弾性波を圧電体層7側に効果的に反射させることができる。この結果、弾性波装置1においてロスを低減させることができる。
 音響反射膜4における少なくとも1組の隣り合う高音響インピーダンス層及び低音響インピーダンス層において、音響インピーダンス比が6以上であることが好ましい。音響反射膜4における全ての隣り合う高音響インピーダンス層及び低音響インピーダンス層において、音響インピーダンス比が6以上であることがより好ましい。それによって、メインモードの電気的特性の劣化をより確実に抑制することができる。例えば、弾性波装置1においてロスを低減させることができる。
 上記のように、第1の実施形態においては、第1の低音響インピーダンス層が、音響反射膜4において最も圧電体層7側に位置している層である。ここでいう層とは、音響インピーダンス層である。なお、第1の低音響インピーダンス層及び第2の低音響インピーダンス層の配置は上記に限定されない。
 例えば、図3に示す第1の実施形態の第1の変形例においては、第2の低音響インピーダンス層15aが、音響反射膜4Aにおいて最も圧電体層7側に位置している層である。本変形例では、第2の低音響インピーダンス層15a以外の低音響インピーダンス層は、第1の低音響インピーダンス層5b及び第1の低音響インピーダンス層5cである。この場合にも、音響反射膜4Aにおいて不要波を散乱させることができる。よって、不要波を抑制することができる。
 図2に示す第1の実施形態の弾性波装置1においては、圧電体層7の第1の主面7a及び第2の主面7bに誘電体膜は設けられていない。なお、圧電体層7の第1の主面7a及び第2の主面7bのうち少なくとも一方に、誘電体膜が設けられていてもよい。図4に示す第1の実施形態の第2の変形例においては、圧電体層7の第1の主面7aに、IDT電極8を覆うように、第1の誘電体膜9Aが設けられている。この場合、第1の誘電体膜9AによりIDT電極8が保護される。これにより、IDT電極8が破損し難い。
 圧電体層7の第2の主面7bには、第2の誘電体膜9Bが設けられている。より具体的には、圧電体層7及び音響反射膜4の間に第2の誘電体膜9Bが設けられている。本変形例では、圧電性基板2Bは、支持基板3、音響反射膜4、第2の誘電体膜9B及び圧電体層7を含む。
 第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bの材料としては、例えば、酸化ケイ素、窒化ケイ素または酸窒化ケイ素などを用いることができる。なお、第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bの材料は同じであってもよく、あるいは、互いに異なっていてもよい。第1の誘電体膜9Aの材料は、低音響インピーダンス層または高音響インピーダンス層の材料と同じであってもよい。第2の誘電体膜9Bの材料も同様である。
 本変形例では、第1の実施形態と同様に、音響反射膜4において不要波を散乱させることができる。よって、不要波を抑制することができる。なお、本変形例における第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bのうち少なくとも一方を有する構成は、本変形例以外の本発明の構成においても適用することができる。
 本発明においては、弾性波装置は、板波をメインモードとして利用可能に構成されていてもよい。図5に示す第1の実施形態の第3の変形例においては、弾性波装置1Cは、板波をメインモードとして利用可能に構成されている。本変形例においては、圧電体層7の第1の主面7aに、1対の反射器12A及び反射器12Bが設けられている。より具体的には、反射器12A及び反射器12Bは、IDT電極8を電極指直交方向において挟み互いに対向している。
 反射器12Aは、1対の反射器バスバー13a及び反射器バスバー13bと、複数の反射器電極指14とを有する。反射器バスバー13a及び反射器バスバー13bは互いに対向している。複数の反射器電極指14のそれぞれにおける一方端及び他方端は、反射器バスバー13a及び反射器バスバー13bにより短絡されている。反射器12Bも、反射器12Aと同様に構成されている。
 圧電体層7の厚みをd、隣り合う第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19の中心間距離をpとしたときに、d≦2pであることが好ましい。この場合には、板波が好適に励振される。加えて、反射器12A及び反射器12Bが設けられていることにより、共振特性を良好にすることができる。なお、板波をメインモードとして利用する場合、交叉領域Fが励振領域である。
 圧電体層7がニオブ酸リチウムからなる場合に、圧電体層7を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、(0°±5°の範囲内,30°±30°の範囲内,0°±5°の範囲内)であることが好ましい。あるいは、圧電体層7を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、(0°±5°の範囲内,0°±30°の範囲内,90°±5°の範囲内)であることが好ましい。それによって、板波の1種である、図6(a)に示すAモードのラム波を好適に励振させることができる。圧電体層7がタンタル酸リチウムからなる場合も同様である。
 圧電体層7がニオブ酸リチウムからなる場合に、圧電体層7を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、(90°±5°の範囲内,90°±5°の範囲内,40°±20°の範囲内)であることが好ましい。それによって、板波の1種である、図6(b)に示すSモードのラム波を好適に励振させることができる。圧電体層7がタンタル酸リチウムからなる場合も同様である。
 本変形例では、図2を援用して示す音響反射膜4において、不要波を散乱させることができる。よって、第1の実施形態と同様に、不要波を抑制することができる。
 第1の実施形態及びその各変形例では、圧電体層の第2の主面は、音響反射膜側に位置している。もっとも、これに限定されるものではない。圧電体層の第1の主面が音響反射膜側に位置している例を、第2の実施形態により示す。
 図7は、第2の実施形態に係る弾性波装置の模式的正面断面図である。
 本実施形態は、圧電体層7の第1の主面7a及び第2の主面7bのうち、第1の主面7aが音響反射膜4側に位置している点において、第1の実施形態と異なる。IDT電極8は音響反射膜4に埋め込まれている。具体的には、IDT電極8は、音響反射膜4の第1の低音響インピーダンス層5aに埋め込まれている。上記の点以外においては、本実施形態の弾性波装置21は第1の実施形態の弾性波装置1と同様の構成を有する。
 本実施形態では、第1の実施形態と同様に、音響反射膜4において不要波を散乱させることができる。よって、不要波を抑制することができる。
 圧電体層7の第1の主面7aが音響反射膜4側に位置している構成においても、図4に示した第1の誘電体膜9A及び第2の誘電体膜9Bのうち少なくとも一方が設けられていてもよい。例えば、圧電体層7の第1の主面7aに第1の誘電体膜9Aが設けられている場合においても、IDT電極8は音響反射膜4に埋め込まれていてもよい。なお、本明細書において、IDT電極が音響反射膜に埋め込まれているとは、IDT電極の電極指間の部分に、音響反射膜の一部が位置していることをいうものとする。
 以下において、本発明における好ましい構成を、図1を用いて説明する。もっとも、以下に示す好ましい構成は、厚み滑りモードのバルク波をメインモードとして利用する、第1の実施形態以外の本発明の構成にも適用することができる。
 第1の実施形態では、圧電体層7の厚みをd、隣り合う電極指同士の中心間距離をpとした場合、d/pが0.5以下である。なお、d/pが0.24以下であることが好ましい。それによって、各励振領域Cにおいて、厚み滑りモードのバルク波がより好適に励振され、かつ弾性波共振子の比帯域の値を十分に大きくすることができる。比帯域は、共振周波数をfr、反共振周波数をfaとしたときに、(|fa-fr|/fr)×100[%]により表される。
 図8は、d/pと、弾性波共振子の比帯域との関係を示す図である。
 図8から明らかなように、d/p>0.5である場合には、比帯域は5%未満である。これに対して、d/p≦0.5である場合には、比帯域を5%以上にすることができる。よって、厚み滑りモードのバルク波の電気機械結合係数を大きくすることができる。d/p≦0.24である場合には、比帯域を7%以上にすることができる。よって、厚み滑りモードのバルク波の電気機械結合係数を効果的に大きくすることができる。
 励振領域Cに対する、電極指のメタライゼーション比をMRとしたときに、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.075を満たすことが好ましい。この場合には、弾性波共振子の比帯域の値が大きくなりすぎず、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間においてスプリアスが生じることを抑制できる。この詳細を以下において示す。
 なお、本明細書では、励振領域Cに対する電極指のメタライゼーション比MRは、平面視したときに、圧電体層7が電極指を構成する金属により被覆されている部分が、励振領域Cにおいて占める割合である。具体的には、平面視したときの、励振領域Cの面積に対する、励振領域C内における第1の電極指18及び第2の電極指19の面積の比が、メタライゼーション比MRとなる。なお、励振領域C内に位置する電極指の幅が一定である場合には、励振領域C内に位置する電極指の幅の合計を、励振領域Cの電極指直交方向に沿う寸法により割ることによって、メタライゼーション比MRを算出することもできる。
 図9は、弾性波共振子における比帯域と、規格化されたスプリアスの大きさとの関係を示す図である。図9では、圧電体層の厚みや電極指の寸法を変化させることにより、比帯域を変化させる毎に、スプリアスの位相回転量を測定した結果を示す。なお、図9における規格化されたスプリアスの大きさは、具体的には、スプリアスのインピーダンスの位相回転量が、180°により規格化された値である。図9に示す結果は、ZカットのLiNbOからなる圧電体層を用いた場合の結果であるが、他のカット角の圧電体層を用いた場合においても、同様の傾向となる。
 図9中の楕円Aにより囲まれている領域では、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間における規格化されたスプリアスの大きさが、1.0となっている。弾性波共振子の比帯域が17%を超えると、規格化された該スプリアスの大きさが、1.0以上となり得る。このことから、比帯域は17%以下であることが好ましい。それによって、共振周波数及び反共振周波数の間におけるスプリアスを抑制することができる。
 図10は、d/pと、メタライゼーション比MRと、比帯域との関係を示す図である。図10では、d/p及びメタライゼーション比MRを異ならせる毎に、比帯域を算出した結果を示す。
 図10中において、ハッチングを付して示した部分は、比帯域が17%以下の領域である。このハッチングを付した領域と、付していない領域との境界は、おおよそ破線Bにより表される。破線Bは、MR=1.75(d/p)+0.075により表される。そして、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.075であることが好ましい。この場合には、比帯域を17%以下とし易い。
 一方で、図10中の一点鎖線B1により、d/pの変化に対するメタライゼーション比MRの変化の傾きが、破線Bの該傾きと同じであり、かつ全ての範囲において比帯域が17%以下となる境界を示す。一点鎖線B1は、MR=1.75(d/p)+0.05により表される。そして、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.05であることがより好ましい。この場合には、比帯域をより確実に17%以下にすることができる。
 図11は、d/pを限りなく0に近づけた場合のLiNbOのオイラー角(0°,θ,ψ)に対する比帯域のマップを示す図である。図11のハッチングを付して示した部分が、少なくとも5%以上の比帯域が得られる領域であり、当該領域の範囲を近似すると、下記の式(1)、式(2)及び式(3)により表される範囲となる。

 圧電体層7を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、上記式(1)、式(2)または式(3)の範囲にあることが好ましい。それによって、弾性波共振子の比帯域を十分に広くすることができる。圧電体層7がタンタル酸リチウムからなる場合も同様である。
 以下において、本発明に係る弾性波装置の形態の例をまとめて記載する。
 <1>相対的に音響インピーダンスが高い少なくとも1層の高音響インピーダンス層と、相対的に音響インピーダンスが低い複数の低音響インピーダンス層と、を含む、音響反射膜と、前記音響反射膜上に設けられており、互いに対向している第1の主面及び第2の主面を有する圧電体層と、前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面に設けられており、複数の電極指を有するIDT電極と、を備え、前記低音響インピーダンス層及び前記高音響インピーダンス層が交互に積層されており、前記複数の低音響インピーダンス層が、少なくとも1層の第1の低音響インピーダンス層と、少なくとも1層の第2の低音響インピーダンス層と、を含み、前記第1の低音響インピーダンス層の密度をρ1、ヤング率をE1とし、前記第2の低音響インピーダンス層の密度をρ2、ヤング率をE2としたときに、ρ1>ρ2及びE1>E2のうち少なくとも一方が満たされている、弾性波装置。
 <2>前記第1の低音響インピーダンス層が、前記音響反射膜において最も前記圧電体層側に位置している層である、<1>に記載の弾性波装置。
 <3>前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面及び前記第2の主面のうち、前記第2の主面が前記音響反射膜側に位置している、<1>または<2>に記載の弾性波装置。
 <4>前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面及び前記第2の主面のうち、前記第1の主面が前記音響反射膜側に位置しており、前記IDT電極が前記音響反射膜に埋め込まれている、<1>または<2>に記載の弾性波装置。
 <5>前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面及び前記第2の主面のうち少なくとも一方に設けられている誘電体膜をさらに備える、<1>~<4>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <6>支持基板をさらに備え、前記支持基板上に前記音響反射膜が設けられている、<1>~<5>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <7>全ての前記低音響インピーダンス層及び全ての前記高音響インピーダンス層が誘電体からなる、<1>~<6>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <8>全ての前記低音響インピーダンス層及び全ての前記高音響インピーダンス層のうちいずれかが誘電体からなる層であり、他のいずれかが金属からなる層である、<1>~<6>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <9>全ての前記低音響インピーダンス層及び全ての前記高音響インピーダンス層が金属からなる、<1>~<6>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <10>前記複数の低音響インピーダンス層が、材料として、酸化ケイ素が用いられている前記低音響インピーダンス層を含む、<1>~<8>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <11>前記音響反射膜が、材料として、酸化イッテルビウム、酸化ハフニウム及び酸化タングステンのうち少なくとも1種が用いられている前記高音響インピーダンス層を含む、<1>~<8>または<10>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <12>前記複数の低音響インピーダンス層が、材料としてアルミニウムが用いられている前記低音響インピーダンス層を含む、<1>~<6>、<8>または<9>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <13>隣り合う前記高音響インピーダンス層及び前記低音響インピーダンス層において、前記高音響インピーダンス層の音響インピーダンスを前記低音響インピーダンス層の音響インピーダンスにより割った値を音響インピーダンス比としたときに、前記音響反射膜における少なくとも1組の隣り合う前記高音響インピーダンス層及び前記低音響インピーダンス層において、前記音響インピーダンス比が6以上である、<1>~<12>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <14>前記圧電体層の厚みをd、隣り合う前記電極指同士の中心間距離をpとした場合、d/pが0.5以下である、<1>~<13>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <15>d/pが0.24以下である、<14>に記載の弾性波装置。
 <16>前記複数の電極指が延びている方向と直交する方向を電極指直交方向としたときに、隣り合う前記電極指同士が前記電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域であり、かつ隣り合う前記電極指の中心間の領域が励振領域であり、前記励振領域に対する、前記電極指のメタライゼーション比をMRとしたときに、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.075を満たす、<14>または<15>に記載の弾性波装置。
 <17>前記圧電体層がニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムからなり、前記圧電体層を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、以下の式(1)、式(2)または式(3)の範囲にある、<1>~<16>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 (0°±10°,0°~20°,任意のψ)  …式(1)

 <19>前記圧電体層がニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムからなり、前記圧電体層を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、(0°±5°の範囲内,0°±30°の範囲内,90°±5°の範囲内)である、<1>~<13>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。
 <20>前記圧電体層がニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムからなり、前記圧電体層を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、(90°±5°の範囲内,90°±5°の範囲内,40°±20°の範囲内)である、<1>~<13>のいずれか1つに記載の弾性波装置。

Claims (20)

  1.  相対的に音響インピーダンスが高い少なくとも1層の高音響インピーダンス層と、相対的に音響インピーダンスが低い複数の低音響インピーダンス層と、を含む、音響反射膜と、
     前記音響反射膜上に設けられており、互いに対向している第1の主面及び第2の主面を有する圧電体層と、
     前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面に設けられており、複数の電極指を有するIDT電極と、
    を備え、
     前記低音響インピーダンス層及び前記高音響インピーダンス層が交互に積層されており、
     前記複数の低音響インピーダンス層が、少なくとも1層の第1の低音響インピーダンス層と、少なくとも1層の第2の低音響インピーダンス層と、を含み、
     前記第1の低音響インピーダンス層の密度をρ1、ヤング率をE1とし、前記第2の低音響インピーダンス層の密度をρ2、ヤング率をE2としたときに、ρ1>ρ2及びE1>E2のうち少なくとも一方が満たされている、弾性波装置。
  2.  前記第1の低音響インピーダンス層が、前記音響反射膜において最も前記圧電体層側に位置している層である、請求項1に記載の弾性波装置。
  3.  前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面及び前記第2の主面のうち、前記第2の主面が前記音響反射膜側に位置している、請求項1または2に記載の弾性波装置。
  4.  前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面及び前記第2の主面のうち、前記第1の主面が前記音響反射膜側に位置しており、前記IDT電極が前記音響反射膜に埋め込まれている、請求項1または2に記載の弾性波装置。
  5.  前記圧電体層の前記第1の主面及び前記第2の主面のうち少なくとも一方に設けられている誘電体膜をさらに備える、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  6.  支持基板をさらに備え、
     前記支持基板上に前記音響反射膜が設けられている、請求項1~5のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  7.  全ての前記低音響インピーダンス層及び全ての前記高音響インピーダンス層が誘電体からなる、請求項1~6のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  8.  全ての前記低音響インピーダンス層及び全ての前記高音響インピーダンス層のうちいずれかが誘電体からなる層であり、他のいずれかが金属からなる層である、請求項1~6のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  9.  全ての前記低音響インピーダンス層及び全ての前記高音響インピーダンス層が金属からなる、請求項1~6のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  10.  前記複数の低音響インピーダンス層が、材料として、酸化ケイ素が用いられている前記低音響インピーダンス層を含む、請求項1~8のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  11.  前記音響反射膜が、材料として、酸化イッテルビウム、酸化ハフニウム及び酸化タングステンのうち少なくとも1種が用いられている前記高音響インピーダンス層を含む、請求項1~8または10のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  12.  前記複数の低音響インピーダンス層が、材料としてアルミニウムが用いられている前記低音響インピーダンス層を含む、請求項1~6、8または9のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  13.  隣り合う前記高音響インピーダンス層及び前記低音響インピーダンス層において、前記高音響インピーダンス層の音響インピーダンスを前記低音響インピーダンス層の音響インピーダンスにより割った値を音響インピーダンス比としたときに、前記音響反射膜における少なくとも1組の隣り合う前記高音響インピーダンス層及び前記低音響インピーダンス層において、前記音響インピーダンス比が6以上である、請求項1~12のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  14.  前記圧電体層の厚みをd、隣り合う前記電極指同士の中心間距離をpとした場合、d/pが0.5以下である、請求項1~13のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  15.  d/pが0.24以下である、請求項14に記載の弾性波装置。
  16.  前記複数の電極指が延びている方向と直交する方向を電極指直交方向としたときに、隣り合う前記電極指同士が前記電極指直交方向において重なり合っている領域であり、かつ隣り合う前記電極指の中心間の領域が励振領域であり、
     前記励振領域に対する、前記電極指のメタライゼーション比をMRとしたときに、MR≦1.75(d/p)+0.075を満たす、請求項14または15に記載の弾性波装置。
  17.  前記圧電体層がニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムからなり、
     前記圧電体層を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、以下の式(1)、式(2)または式(3)の範囲にある、請求項1~16のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。

  19.  前記圧電体層がニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムからなり、
     前記圧電体層を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、(0°±5°の範囲内,0°±30°の範囲内,90°±5°の範囲内)である、請求項1~13のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
  20.  前記圧電体層がニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムからなり、
     前記圧電体層を構成しているニオブ酸リチウムまたはタンタル酸リチウムのオイラー角(φ,θ,ψ)が、(90°±5°の範囲内,90°±5°の範囲内,40°±20°の範囲内)である、請求項1~13のいずれか1項に記載の弾性波装置。
