Description

塗布装置及び制御方法
 本開示は、塗布装置及び制御方法に関する。
 従来、インクジェット方式によって基板等の塗布を行う塗布装置が知られている。前記塗布装置においては、インク等の液体を吐出するヘッドユニットの清掃が行われる。

 しかしながら、上述のような従来技術においては、ヘッドユニットが塗布前に位置するホーム位置が、清掃を行う清掃ユニットの位置と遠い場合に、ヘッドユニットの移動距離が長くなることによって、特に複数の基板の塗布に要する時間が長くなるという問題がある。
 本開示の一態様は、上記の問題に鑑みてなされたものであり、各基板の塗布に要する時間を短縮することを目的とする。
 上記の課題を解決するために、本開示の一態様に係る塗布装置は、基板を載置する載置面を有するステージと、前記載置面と平行な第1方向に前記ステージを搬送する搬送部と、前記第1方向と交差し、且つ前記載置面と平行な方向の第2方向に移動し、前記基板に対して液体を塗布する塗布部と、前記塗布部を清掃する清掃部を備え、前記清掃部は、少なくとも前記塗布部の清掃を行っていないときに、前記第2方向において、前記塗布部が移動可能な範囲と、前記ステージ上に前記基板を載置可能な範囲とが重畳する範囲の略中間位置に配置されている。
 上記の課題を解決するために、本開示の一態様に係る制御方法は、基板を載置する載置面を有するステージと、前記載置面と平行な第1方向に前記ステージを搬送する搬送部と、前記第1方向と交差し、且つ前記載置面と平行な方向の第2方向に移動し、前記基板に対して液体を塗布する塗布部と、前記塗布部を清掃する、前記第2方向に移動可能な清掃部とを備える塗布装置を制御する制御方法であって、前記清掃部を、少なくとも前記塗布部の清掃を行っていないときに、前記第2方向において、前記塗布部が移動可能な範囲と、前記ステージ上に前記基板を載置可能な範囲とが重畳する範囲の略中間位置に配置するように制御する。
 本開示の一態様によれば、各基板の塗布に要する時間を短縮することができる。

 以下、本開示の一実施形態について、詳細に説明する。
 〔1.塗布装置の構成例〕
 以下、本開示に係る塗布装置1について説明する。塗布装置1は、インクジェット方式によって液体を吐出し、その液体を基板等に対して塗布する装置である。前記基板は、例えばディスプレイを構成するTFT基板であるが、塗布の対象はこれに限定されず、その他の基板及びその他の塗布対象物であってもよい。
 図1及び図2は、塗布装置1の概略図の一例である。図1は、塗布装置1をz軸負方向側から見た概略図であり、図2は、塗布装置1をy軸負方向側から見た概略図である。多くの場合、塗布装置1は、xy平面が床面と並行な面になるように設けられる。以下においても、図1が上面図であり、図2が側面図であるものとして説明する。
 また、x軸方向、y軸方向、z軸方向は、それぞれ本開示における第1方向、第2方向、第3方向の一例である。
 塗布装置1は、搬送部2、塗布部3、清掃部4、レール5a及び5b、並びに制御部9を備えている。但し、搬送部2については、搬送部2が備えるステージ20のみを図示している。また、図2以降の図においては、制御部9の図示を省略している。
 搬送部2は、基板90を載置面201に載置可能なステージ20と、x軸方向、つまりx軸正方向あるいはx軸負方向にステージ20を搬送する機構とを備えている。前記機構は、リニアガイド又はベルトコンベア等を用いて実現されてもよい。通常、基板90を載置する載置面201は、xy平面と平行な面であって、ステージ20の上面である。
 また、搬送部2は、例えばマニュピレータを備え、基板90をステージ20上に載置する処理、及び載置された基板90をステージ20上から取り除く処理を行う。例えば、搬送部2は、基板90を製造ライン上から取得してもよいし、ステージ20上から取り除いた基板90を製造ライン上に移動させてもよい。
 塗布部3は、塗布に用いる液体をインクジェットヘッド30の吐出孔から吐出するヘッドユニットである。塗布部3は、レール5aにセットされており、x軸方向と交差して且つ載置面201と平行なy軸方向にスライドして移動可能である。
 清掃部4は、塗布部3の前記吐出孔を少なくとも含む範囲を清掃する清掃ユニットである。多くの場合、塗布に用いられる液体は、時間の経過に伴い固まっていくインクである。例えば清掃部4は、インクジェットヘッド30の吐出孔付近において固まったインク、及びホコリ等を清掃によって除去する。
 また、清掃部4は、塗布部3が捨て打ちした液体を回収する捨て打ち部6を備えていてもよい。換言すると、塗布装置1は、清掃部4と一体となった捨て打ち部6を備えていてもよい。これにより、例えば塗布装置1を小型化することに寄与する。また、捨て打ちとは、塗布部3が液体の一部を塗布に用いることなく吐出して廃棄することである。これにより、例えば直近に塗布を行ってから時間が経過して塗布部3内において粘度等が変化した液体を破棄し、粘度等が変化していない新しい液体を用いて塗布を開始することができる。
 また、捨て打ち部6は、吐出された液体を受け止める受け皿等に加え、捨て打ちが行われるときに基板90が位置する方向に液体が飛散することを抑制するためにz軸方向に設けられた壁面を備えていてもよい。図2の壁面40は、この一例である。
 また、図1に例示するように、清掃部4(及び捨て打ち部6)は、少なくとも塗布部3の清掃を行っていないときに、y軸方向において、塗布部3がレール5a上を移動可能な範囲と、ステージ20上に基板90を載置可能な範囲とが重畳する範囲の略中間位置に配置される構成である。ここで、略中間位置とは、厳密な中間位置から若干の誤差を許容した一定範囲内の位置を意味している。当該構成には、清掃部4がy軸方向における前記の略中間位置に固定されている構成に加え、後述するように、清掃部4がy軸方向に移動可能な構成も含まれる。
 また、図2に示すように、清掃部4は、z軸方向に移動可能である。なお且つ清掃部4は、z軸方向において、清掃部4の少なくとも一部が、基板90及びステージ20が占める範囲と、重畳する位置と重畳しない位置とに移動可能である。換言すると、清掃部4は、ステージ20及び基板90がx軸方向に動いたと仮定したときに清掃部4と干渉し得る上方の位置と、ステージ20及び基板90がx軸方向に動いたとしても清掃部4と干渉しない下方の位置とに移動可能である。これにより、y軸方向における清掃部4の位置の自由度を向上させることができる。
 また、塗布装置1が備える一対のレール5a及び5bのうち、レール5aは、塗布部3をy軸方向に移動させるためのレールである。一態様において、レール5aとレール5bとの間の距離は、ステージ20のx軸方向の幅よりもやや大きい幅である。レール5a及び5bの各々には、互いに対向する位置に1以上のアライメントカメラ50が設けられている。アライメントカメラ50は、ステージ20に対する基板90の相対的な位置を調整する処理に用いられるカメラである。
 制御部9は、塗布装置1が備える各部を制御する制御装置である。例えば制御部9は、後述するように、塗布部3のホーム位置の決定、及びステージ20に対する基板90の位置の決定を行う。
 また、塗布装置1は、アライメントカメラ50の撮像画像を記憶する記憶部等を備えていてもよいし、制御部9及び記憶部が、これらを備えるコンピュータ等の装置として実現されてもよい。
 〔2.従来の塗布装置の構成例〕
 続いて、本願の塗布装置1による効果を分かりやすくするために、従来の塗布装置において生じていた問題点について簡単に説明する。
 図3及び図4は、それぞれ従来の塗布装置101の概略図の一例である。図3及び図4に示す従来の塗布装置101が備える部材は、本願の塗布装置1が備える部材に各々対応する。重複する説明については省略するが、具体的には、従来の塗布装置101が備える塗布部103、清掃部104、レール105a及び105b、ステージ120、インクジェットヘッド130、並びにアライメントカメラ150は、本願の塗布装置1が備える塗布部3、清掃部4、レール5a及び5b、ステージ20、インクジェットヘッド30、並びにアライメントカメラ50にそれぞれ対応する。
 図3及び図4の塗布装置101では、レール105aがy軸負方向側に長く、且つ清掃部104が、y軸方向においてステージ120よりもy軸負方向側に固定されており、z軸方向においても位置が固定されている。
 図3及び図4の構成においては、清掃部104とステージ120とが互いに干渉することは無いものの、塗布部103の移動距離が大きくなってしまうことに加えて、塗布装置101そのものが大型化してしまうという問題がある。
 更に図4の塗布装置101は、前述の構成に加え、液体を捨て打ちするための捨て打ち領域180が、ステージ120のx軸方向における両端付近に設けられている。例えば捨て打ち領域180は、廃棄する液体を吸収する吸収材を設置する溝として実現される。図4の当該構成においては、液体が捨て打ちされる際に基板90側に飛散し、飛沫が基板90に付着する虞があるという問題がある。
 〔3.塗布装置の処理例〕
 続いて、従来の塗布装置101における問題点を解決可能な本願の塗布装置1が実行する塗布方法の処理の流れについて説明する。図5は、前記処理の流れを示すフローチャートの一例である。
 図5のフローチャートの処理が開始される時点においては、図1及び図6に示されるように、ステージ20は、レール5aとレール5bとの間の外側に位置し、且つ塗布部3は、塗布対象となる基板90のサイズに応じて制御部9が事前に決定したホーム位置に位置しているものとする。また、制御部9は、塗布対象となる基板90のサイズを例えば製造ラインから取得可能であってもよい。前述のホーム位置は、ステージ20に載置される基板90とy軸方向において重畳しない位置であって、基板90端部の延長線上に近い位置が望ましい。図1及び図6に示す塗布部3の位置は、ホーム位置の一例であって、点線60は、基板90端部の延長線を示している。また、図6に示す塗布部3の位置は、ステージ20上に基板90を載置可能な範囲よりも基板90が比較的小さい場合におけるホーム位置を示している。
 以下の説明においては、基板90が、図1に示すサイズであるものとして説明する。
 S101(ステップS101)において、搬送部2は、塗布対象となる基板90をステージ20上に載置する。
 S102において、搬送部2は、図7に示されるように、レール5aとレール5bとの間にステージ20を搬送する。
 S103において、搬送部2は、ステージ20に対する相対的な基板90の位置を、制御部9がアライメントカメラ50の画像を参照して決定した位置に調整する。例えば搬送部2は、基板90のy軸方向側の辺がy軸と並行になるように基板90の位置を調整する。
 S104において、搬送部2は、レール5aとレール5bとの間の外側にステージ20を搬送する。ステージ20の搬送先は、S102の処理が開始される前と同一であってもよい。後述するS109においても同様である。
 S105において、塗布部3は、図8に示されるように、ホーム位置からy軸方向に移動して、xy平面上において清掃部4と重畳する位置、即ち清掃部4の上方(図8の紙面手前側)に移動する。そして清掃部4は、z軸正方向、即ち上方に移動して、塗布部3の清掃を行う。また、塗布部3は、捨て打ち部6に液体の捨て打ちを行ってもよい。
 また、S104において前述したように、塗布部3が捨て打ちをする前に、搬送部2によって、レール5aとレール5bとの間の外側にステージ20が搬送されている。つまり、搬送部2は、塗布部3が捨て打ちを行うときに、塗布部3とステージ20とが、x軸とy軸とによって構成されるxy平面上で重畳しないようにステージ20を搬送する。これにより、捨て打ちされた液体の飛沫が基板90に付着することを抑制することができるという効果を奏する。加えて、前述したように、捨て打ち部6が壁面40を備えることによって、前記効果が更に顕著となる。
 更に付け加えると、清掃部4は、ステージ20に対する相対的な基板90の位置を調整するS103の処理が行われた後のタイミングであって、且つ基板90の塗布が行われる前のタイミングにおいて、塗布部3を清掃している。これにより塗布装置1は、塗布部3の清掃が完了してから塗布を開始するまでの時間を短縮し、インクジェットヘッド30が潤った状態によって安定した液滴で塗布を行うことができる。
 S106において、塗布部3は、S105の処理に続いてホーム位置に移動する。これにより、塗布装置1が備える各部は、図1に示す位置関係となる。
 S107において、搬送部2は、レール5aとレール5bとの間にステージ20を搬送する。
 S108において、塗布部3は、xy平面において基板90と重畳する塗布開始位置に移動したのち、y軸方向に移動しながら基板90にインクを塗布する。図9に示す塗布部3の位置は、前記塗布開始位置を示している。
 また、塗布部3が基板90の塗布を行っている間、搬送部2は、ステージ20をx軸方向に段階的に搬送する。これにより、塗布部3は、基板90上面の塗布の対象となる領域全体を塗布することができる。
 S109において、搬送部2は、レール5aとレール5bとの間の外側にステージ20を搬送する。
 S110において、搬送部2は、ステージ20上に載置された基板90を、ステージ20上から取り除く。取り除かれた基板90は、例えば当該基板90を用いた製品の組み立てに使用される。また、図10は、S109及びS110の処理が行われるときにおける塗布装置1の概略図を示している。
 S111において、制御部9は、塗布装置1が続けて塗布すべき次の基板90が有るか否かを判定する。制御部9が、前記次の基板90が有ると判定した場合(S111:YES)、前記次の基板90を対象としてS101からの処理が繰り返される。制御部9が、前記次の基板90が無いと判定した場合(S111:NO)、図5のフローチャートに示す処理が終了する。
 また、塗布装置1は、S111に続いてS101の処理を実行する場合であって、次に塗布対象となる基板90のサイズが、直近に塗布した基板90のサイズと異なる場合、S101の処理の前に、次に塗布対象となる基板90のサイズに応じて塗布部3のホーム位置の決定及び移動を行ってもよい。
 このように塗布装置1の構成によって、基板90のサイズに依らず、ホーム位置と清掃部4上との間における塗布部3の移動距離を短縮し、各基板90の塗布に要する時間、及び、或る基板90の塗布が完了してから次の基板90の塗布を開始するまでの時間(タクト)を短縮することができる。また、塗布装置1の構成によれば、塗布装置を小型化することにも寄与する。
 〔4.付記事項〕
 前述した第1方向、第2方向及び第3方向は、互いに1点で交差していればよく、互いに直交しない場合の構成についても本開示に含まれる。つまり一例として、ステージ20の載置面201と平行な面と塗布部3とに対して清掃部4が斜め下方から近づく構成等についても本開示に含まれる。
 また、基板90をステージ20上に載置する処理、及び載置された基板90をステージ20上から取り除く処理は、搬送部2のマニュピレータ等が行う構成に限定されず、塗布装置1とは別の装置若しくはロボット、又は作業員が行う構成であってもよい。
 また、捨て打ち部6は、清掃部4と一体となった構成に限定されず、清掃部4とは別に、例えば清掃部4の近傍に設けられる構成であってもよい。
 また、塗布装置1は、塗布部3が基板90の塗布を開始してから完了させるまでの間に、レール5aとレール5bとの間の外側へステージ20を一旦搬送して塗布部3の清掃を行ったのち、基板90の塗布を再開してもよい。これにより、例えば基板90の塗布を途中で中断した場合であっても、インクジェットヘッド30が潤った状態によって安定した液滴で塗布を行うことができる。
 また、塗布部3に加え、清掃部4(及び捨て打ち部6)も、レール5aにセットされてy軸方向に移動可能な構成であってもよい。但し前記構成においても、清掃部4は、少なくとも塗布部3の清掃を行っていないときにはy軸方向における前述の略中間位置に配置されていることが望ましい。換言すると、制御部9は、清掃部4を、少なくとも塗布部3の清掃を行っていないときにはy軸方向における前述の略中間位置に配置するように制御することが望ましい。前記構成によれば、例えば塗布部3が清掃部4側に移動すると共に清掃部4が塗布部3側に移動して、清掃部4と塗布部3とが重畳したときに清掃部4が塗布部3の清掃を始める制御、及び、塗布部3がホーム位置側に移動しながら清掃部4が塗布部3の清掃を行う制御が可能となる。これにより、各基板90の塗布に要する時間、及び、或る基板90の塗布が完了してから次の基板90の塗布を開始するまでの時間の更なる短縮に寄与する。
 〔5.ソフトウェアによる実現例〕
 制御部9を含む装置(以下、「装置」と呼ぶ)の機能は、当該装置としてコンピュータを機能させるためのプログラムであって、当該装置の各制御ブロックとしてコンピュータを機能させるためのプログラムにより実現することができる。
 この場合、上記装置は、上記プログラムを実行するためのハードウェアとして、少なくとも1つの制御装置(例えばプロセッサ)と少なくとも1つの記憶装置(例えばメモリ)を有するコンピュータを備えている。この制御装置と記憶装置により上記プログラムを実行することにより、上記各実施形態で説明した各機能が実現される。
 上記プログラムは、一時的ではなく、コンピュータ読み取り可能な、1または複数の記録媒体に記録されていてもよい。この記録媒体は、上記装置が備えていてもよいし、備えていなくてもよい。後者の場合、上記プログラムは、有線または無線の任意の伝送媒体を介して上記装置に供給されてもよい。
 また、上記各制御ブロックの機能の一部または全部は、論理回路により実現することも可能である。例えば、上記各制御ブロックとして機能する論理回路が形成された集積回路も本開示の範疇に含まれる。この他にも、例えば量子コンピュータにより上記各制御ブロックの機能を実現することも可能である。
 また、上記各実施形態で説明した各処理は、AI(Artificial Intelligence:人工知能)に実行させてもよい。この場合、AIは上記制御装置で動作するものであってもよいし、他の装置(例えばエッジコンピュータまたはクラウドサーバ等)で動作するものであってもよい。
 本開示は上述した各実施形態に限定されるものではなく、請求項に示した範囲で種々の変更が可能であり、異なる実施形態にそれぞれ開示された技術的手段を適宜組み合わせて得られる実施形態についても本開示の技術的範囲に含まれる。さらに、各実施形態にそれぞれ開示された技術的手段を組み合わせることにより、新しい技術的特徴を形成することができる。

Claims (7)

  1.  基板を載置する載置面を有するステージと、
     前記載置面と平行な第1方向に前記ステージを搬送する搬送部と、
     前記第1方向と交差し、且つ前記載置面と平行な方向の第2方向に移動し、前記基板に対して液体を塗布する塗布部と、
     前記塗布部を清掃する清掃部とを備え、
     前記清掃部は、少なくとも前記塗布部の清掃を行っていないときに、
     前記第2方向において、前記塗布部が移動可能な範囲と、前記ステージ上に前記基板を載置可能な範囲とが重畳する範囲の略中間位置に配置されている、
    塗布装置。
  2.  前記清掃部は、
     前記載置面と交差する第3方向に移動可能であり、
     且つ、前記第3方向において、前記清掃部の少なくとも一部が、前記基板及び前記ステージが占める範囲と、重畳する位置と重畳しない位置とに移動可能である、
    請求項1に記載の塗布装置。
  3.  前記塗布部が捨て打ちした前記液体を回収する捨て打ち部であって、前記清掃部と一体となった捨て打ち部を更に備える、
    請求項1又は2に記載の塗布装置。
  4.  前記塗布部が捨て打ちした前記液体を回収する捨て打ち部であって、前記捨て打ちが行われるときに前記基板が位置する方向に前記液体が飛散することを抑制するための壁面が設けられた捨て打ち部を更に備える、
    請求項1又は2に記載の塗布装置。
  5.  前記搬送部は、
      前記塗布部が捨て打ちを行うときに、前記塗布部と前記ステージとが、前記第1方向と前記第2方向とによって構成される平面上で重畳しないように前記ステージを搬送する、
    請求項3又は4に記載の塗布装置。
  6.  前記清掃部は、
      塗布対象となる前記基板の位置であって、前記ステージに対する相対的な位置を調整する処理が行われた後のタイミングであって、且つ前記基板の塗布が行われる前のタイミングにおいて、前記塗布部を清掃する、
    請求項1から5までの何れか1項に記載の塗布装置。
  7.  基板を載置する載置面を有するステージと、
     前記載置面と平行な第1方向に前記ステージを搬送する搬送部と、
     前記第1方向と交差し、且つ前記載置面と平行な方向の第2方向に移動し、前記基板に対して液体を塗布する塗布部と、
     前記塗布部を清掃する、前記第2方向に移動可能な清掃部と
    を備える塗布装置を制御する制御方法であって、
     前記清掃部を、少なくとも前記塗布部の清掃を行っていないときに、
      前記第2方向において、前記塗布部が移動可能な範囲と、前記ステージ上に前記基板を載置可能な範囲とが重畳する範囲の略中間位置に配置するように制御する、
    制御方法。
