Definitions
- the present invention relates to a slave device.
- Safety network systems for achieving safety control are known in the field of factory automation (FA) (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
- Safety input/output devices are slave devices in safety network systems that perform signal input/output between safety-related devices. Because they are slave devices, even when safety control is performed using a safety input/output device, control is still performed on the safety control device side, which is the master device.
- safety control settings on the safety control device side are generally performed using dedicated PC software, and various steps are required to build the system, requiring a high level of specialized knowledge. Furthermore, because safety input/output devices wait for control from the safety control device before controlling output, they are unable to achieve high response performance.
- One aspect of the present invention aims to realize a slave device that can perform safety control with high response performance, without the need for advanced specialized knowledge, simply by wiring the equipment and selecting the application.
- one aspect of the present invention provides a slave device that connects to a network for safety control and communicates with a master device, and includes: a communication unit for communicating via the network; a safety input circuit having multiple input ports that receive input signals from an input device; a safety output circuit having multiple output ports that output output signals to an output device; a memory unit that stores multiple safety control applications that include algorithms that determine the output signal based on input information indicated by the input signals; a safety control application designation unit that can designate one of the multiple safety control applications stored in the memory unit; and a control unit; when a safety control application stored in the memory unit is designated by the safety control application designation unit, the control unit loads the safety control application from the memory unit, executes it, and operates the safety output circuit.
- One aspect of the present invention makes it possible to realize a slave device that can perform safety control with high response performance, without the need for specialized knowledge, simply by wiring the equipment and selecting the application.
