이를 위해 단말은 기지국으로부터 SSB(Synchronization Signal Block)를 수신한다. SSB는 PSS(Primary Synchronization Signal), SSS(Secondary Synchronization Signal) 및 PBCH(Physical Broadcast Channel)를 포함한다.
UCI는 HARQ ACK/NACK(Hybrid Automatic Repeat and reQuest Acknowledgement/Negative-ACK), SR(Scheduling Request), CSI(Channel State Information) 등을 포함한다. CSI는 CQI(Channel Quality Indicator), PMI(Precoding Matrix Indicator), RI(Rank Indication) 등을 포함한다.
각 슬롯은 CP(cyclic prefix)에 따라 12개 또는 14개의 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 심볼을 포함한다.

* Nslot symb:
* Nframe,u slot:
* Nsubframe,u slot:
SCS (15*2u) Nslot symb Nframe,u slot Nsubframe,u slot
60KHz (u=2) 12 40 4
PDCCH는 DCI(Downlink Control Information)를 운반한다.
Positioning
- E-CID Location Information Transfer.
- OTDOA Information Transfer.
- Reporting of General Error Situations.
TBS (terrestrial beacon system), UTDOA (Uplink Time Difference of Arrival)
OTDOA (Observed Time Difference Of Arrival)
OTDOA (observed time difference of arrival)
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000001
E-CID (Enhanced Cell ID)
- UE 측정: E-UTRA RSRP (Reference Signal Received Power), E-UTRA RSRQ (Reference Signal Received Quality), UE E-UTRA 수신-송신 시간차 (Rx-Tx Time difference), GERAN/WLAN RSSI (Reference Signal Strength Indication), UTRAN CPICH (Common Pilot Channel) RSCP (Received Signal Code Power), UTRAN CPICH Ec/Io
(Timing Advance; TADV), Angle of Arrival (AoA)
TADV Type 1 = (ng-eNB 수신-송신 시간차)+(UE E-UTRA 수신-송신 시간차)
TADV Type 2 = ng-eNB
UTDOA (Uplink Time Difference of Arrival)
Multi RTT (round trip time)
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000002
NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network)
HAPS(high altitude platform)과 ATG (air to ground)등의 시나리오도 포함한다.
Transparent payload는 Radio Frequency filtering, Frequency conversion and amplification 등의 역할을 수행하며, 따라서 전송 payload의 waveform 신호는 바뀌지 않는다. 반면에, Regenerative payload의 경우, Radio Frequency filtering, Frequency conversion and amplification as well as demodulation/decoding, switch and/or routing, coding/modulation의 역할을 수행한다.
GEO (Geostationary Earth Orbiting) 위성은, 위성에 의해 타겟팅된 커버리지(e.g. regional or even continental coverage)에 배치되는 하나 이상의 sat-gateway에 의해 공급된다. 셀 내의 단말은 오직 하나의 sat-gateway에 의해 서빙(serving)됨이 가정됨;

High Elliptical Orbit (HEO) satellite 400 - 50000 km Elliptical around the earth 200 - 3500 km
HEO (Highly Elliptical Orbiting)

도 13을 참조하면 지원하는 cell의 type에 따라서 (a) earth fixed beam/cell과 (b) moving cell으로 나눌 수가 있다.
- S-band (n256): UL 1980-2010MHz / DL 2170-2200 MHz
- L-band (n255): UL 1626.5-1660.5MHz / DL 1525-1559MHz
도 14을 참조하면 K_offset 은 uplink time synchronization reference point (RP)의 RTT를 의미하는 offset 값이다. 이것은 service link RTT와 the common TA (if indicated)의 합을 의미한다.
K_mac은 the RP와 the gNB 사이의 RTT를 의미하는 offset 값이다.
1) Position and velocity state vector ephemeris format: 132 bits (<17 bytes)
- The field size for position (x, y, z) (m) is 78 bits
- The field size for velocity (vx, vy, vz) (m/s) is 54 bits
2) Orbital parameter ephemeris format: 164 bits (<21 bytes)
- Semi-major axis “α” (m) is 33 bits
- Eccentricity “e” is 20 bits
- Argument of periapsis “ω” (rad) is 28 bits
- Longitude of ascending node “Ω” (rad) is 28 bits
- Inclination “i” (rad) is 27 bits
- Mean anomaly “M” (rad) at epoch time to is 28 bits
Timing advance without GNSS in NTN
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000004
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000005
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000006
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000007
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000008
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000009
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000010
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000011
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000012
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000013
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000014
Figure PCTKR2024017974-appb-img-000015

UE specific TA (and/or common TA) UE specific TA (and/or common TA) time duration/윈도우를 설정/지시할 수 있다.

따라서, NTN은 상기 satellite 뿐 아니라, aerial vehicle (Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) encompassing tethered UAS (TUA), Lighter than Air UAS (LTA), Heavier than Air UAS (HTA), all operating in altitudes typically between 8 and 50 km including High Altitude Platforms (HAPs) 등을 포함하여 구성될 수도 있다.
Satellite(410)는 bent pipe payload 또는 regenerative payload telecommunication transmitter를 장착한 우주 이동물체(space-borne vehicle)로 LEO(low earth orbit), MEO(medium earth orbit), GEO(Geostationary Earth Orbit)에 위치할 수 있다. NTN gateway는 TNL(transport network layer) 노드에 해당한다.
또는, UE는 동시에 둘 이상의 NTN(e.g. LEO NTN+GEO NTN 등)을 통해 5GCN에 연결될 수 있다.
예를 들어, VSAT(450)는 NTN gateway(420)/ BS로 동작할 수 있다. 예를 들어, NTN gateway(420)이 satellite(410)과 연결되고, satellite(410)이 VSAT(450)와 연결될 수 있으며, VSAT(450)가 UE(430)와 연결되어 서비스를 제공할 수 있다.
