- the branch point detection unit 150 detects multiple branch points corresponding to multiple recommended spots
- the control unit 180 determines the timing to start providing information for each spot information so as to provide in advance the spot information of the recommended spot corresponding to the guidance route that branches off from the branch point that takes the shortest time for the mobile body to arrive at the branch point.
- the method for determining the timing to start providing information will be described below. ⁇ Method 1 for determining the timing to start providing information>
- the branch point detection unit 150 detects multiple branch points (branch point P1/branch point P2) corresponding to multiple recommended spots (recommended spot A/recommended spot B), and the method for determining the timing of providing information is explained using this as an example.
- the information provision time includes at least the time required for the audio guidance of the spot information and the time required for the occupant to consider whether or not to visit the recommended spot.
- the information provision time is set to a specific time for each recommended spot.
- the control unit 180 obtains voice guidance information (playback files) of the recommended spots extracted by the recommended spot extraction unit 130 from the recommended spot server 200, and obtains the time required for the voice guidance of each recommended spot and the time required for the occupant to consider whether or not to visit the recommended spot. These two time periods are each set appropriately for each recommended spot depending on the length of the voice guidance and the difficulty of deciding whether or not to visit the spot.
- the control unit 180 calculates the total time for each recommended spot including the time required for voice guidance of the spot information and the time required for the occupant to consider whether or not to visit the recommended spot (occupant's consideration time), and sets the calculation result as the information provision time for each recommended spot.
- the time required for the occupant to consider whether or not to visit a recommended spot may include the time required for the information providing device 100 to interactively confirm the occupant's consideration.
- the control unit 180 calculates the information provision start time for each recommended spot based on the calculated predicted arrival time at the branch point and the information provision time.
- the control unit 180 determines the information provision start time to be the time that is the information provision time back from the expected time of arrival at the branch point so that the voice guidance of the spot information and the passenger's consideration of whether or not to visit the recommended spot can be completed by the time the mobile body arrives at the branch point.
- the information provision start time (TA) of the spot information of recommended spot A can be calculated by substituting the predicted arrival time at branch point P1 (TP1) and the information provision time (LA) of recommended spot A into the following equation 1.
- the control unit 180 similarly calculates the information provision start time (TB) of the recommended spot B extracted by the recommended spot extraction unit 130, and transmits an audio signal of the voice guidance of the recommended spot obtained from the recommended spot server 200 to the provision unit 170 at the information provision start time determined for each recommended spot.
- control unit 180 is not limited to the above-mentioned method, as long as it can determine the timing to start providing information based on the time required to travel from the current location to the branch point and the information provision time, which is the time required to provide spot information of a recommended spot.
- the information provision start time is calculated to determine the timing to start providing information, but the information provision start timing may also be determined by calculating the number of seconds after which information provision is to be started.
- the control unit 180 determines the timing to start providing information based on the required time and the total information provision time for each recommended spot. As shown in FIG. 7 , the control unit 180 determines the information provision start time (TBC) for recommended spots B and C to be the time that is the sum of the information provision time (LB) for recommended spot B and the information provision time (LC) for recommended spot C from the estimated branch point arrival time (TP2) at branch point P2 so that the provision of information for recommended spots B and C and the consideration of whether or not to visit the recommended spots by the occupant can be completed by the estimated branch point arrival time (TP2) at branch point P2 when the mobile body arrives at branch point P2.
- TBC information provision start time
- LB information provision time
- LC information provision time
- the information provision start time (TBC) of the spot information of recommended spot B and recommended spot C can be calculated by substituting the predicted time of arrival at branch point P2 (TP2), the information provision time (LB) of recommended spot B, and the information provision time (LC) of recommended spot C into the following equation 2.
- the information provision start time (TBC) will be 10:01 minute 30 seconds.
- the information provision start time is determined to be the time obtained by retroactively adding up the information provision times of each recommended spot from the predicted time of arrival at branch point P2 (TP2).
- the control unit 180 may provide in advance spot information for the recommended spot that has a short distance from the branch point to the recommended spot along the guided route.
- the control unit 180 detects multiple recommended spots (recommended spot B and recommended spot C) for which a guided route has been calculated by branching off at branch point P2, it provides the spot information of recommended spot B, which has a shorter guided route distance from branch point P2 to the recommended spot, first at the information provision start time (TBC).
- TBC information provision start time
- the control unit 180 starts providing spot information of recommended spot B at the above-mentioned information provision start time (TBC), and starts providing spot information of recommended spot C at the information provision time (TC).
- control unit 180 may be configured to insert a predetermined time interval between the spot information when spot information for multiple recommended spots is output in succession, etc. In this case, the control unit 180 determines the timing to start providing information based on the time required to travel from the current position to the branch point, the information provision time, and the interval time to be inserted.
- the current location acquisition unit 120 acquires the current location information of the moving object (step S110) and transitions to step S120.
- the recommended spot extraction unit 130 extracts recommended spots that are located in the vicinity of the current location based on the current location information of the mobile object acquired in step S110 (step S120).
- the control unit 180 determines whether or not a recommended spot that is recommended to the occupant of the mobile object to visit has been extracted based on the extraction result received from the recommended spot extraction unit 130 (step S130). If the control unit 180 receives information from the recommended spot extraction unit 130 indicating that no recommended spots have been extracted ("NO" in step S130), the control unit 180 returns the process to step S110 and continues the process.
- control unit 180 receives the name of a recommended spot from the recommended spot extraction unit 130 and determines that a recommended spot has been extracted ("YES" in step S130), it transitions the process to step S140.
- the guided route calculation unit 140 calculates a guided route from the current position of the mobile object to the recommended spot extracted by the recommended spot extraction unit 130 (step S140), and moves the process to step S150.
- the guided route calculation section 140 calculates guided routes to all the recommended spots in order.
- the branch point detection unit 150 detects a branch point based on the guide route calculated in step S140 (step S150), and causes the process to proceed to step S160.
- the branch point detection unit 150 detects branch points for each of all the guided routes.
- the required time acquisition unit 160 calculates the required time for the mobile object to arrive at the branch point detected in step S150 (step S160), and causes the process to proceed to step S170. When there are a plurality of branch points detected by the branch point detection unit 150, the required time acquisition unit 160 calculates the required time for the mobile body to arrive at each of all the branch points.
- the control unit 180 determines the timing for providing information about each recommended spot, transmits the spot information about each recommended spot to the providing unit 170 at that timing (step S170), and ends the process.
- the control unit 180 of the information providing device 100 in this embodiment provides in advance information about the recommended spots to which the vehicle will be guided by branching off from the branch point that has the shortest travel time from the current position of the mobile body to the branch point.
- the control unit 180 determines the timing to start providing information based on the time required to travel from the current location to the branch point and the information provision time, which is the time required to provide the spot information of the recommended spot, so that the provision of the spot information of the recommended spot can be completed by the time the mobile object arrives at the branch point to the recommended spot.
- control unit 180 calculates the estimated time of arrival at the branch point based on the time required to travel from the current location to the detected branch point and the current time, and determines the time that is the information provision start time as the time that is the information provision time back from the calculated estimated time of arrival at the branch point. This makes it possible to complete provision of information about recommended spots by the time the mobile object arrives at the branch point leading to the recommended spot. Furthermore, the information providing device 100 provides the spot information in the order of the recommended spots to which the vehicle is guided by branching off from a branch point that takes the shortest time to reach the branch point from the current position of the mobile body.
- the information providing device 100 provides the spot information for each recommended spot in order, starting with the recommended spot to which the driver is guided by branching off from the branch point that has the shortest travel time from the current position of the mobile body to the branch point. This allows the driver of the mobile vehicle to concentrate on driving since spot information is provided in order from the recommended spot where the user has less time to decide whether to stop by, and spot information for multiple recommended spots is not provided at once.
- the information provision time includes at least the time required to provide the spot information and the time required for the occupant to consider whether or not to visit the recommended spot.
- the information providing device 100 determines the timing to start providing information so that the provision of spot information about the recommended spot and the consideration of whether or not to visit the recommended spot can be completed before the mobile body reaches the branch point.
- a unique information provision time is set for each recommended spot.
- the control unit 180 sets the information provision time to the total time required for voice guidance for each recommended spot and the time required for the occupant to consider whether or not to visit the recommended spot. This allows the occupant of the mobile body to complete the provision of information about the recommended spot and the decision as to whether or not to visit the recommended spot before arriving at the branch point to the recommended spot, and when the occupant decides to visit the recommended spot, the occupant can smoothly head to the recommended spot.
- the branch point detection unit 150 of the information providing device 100 in this embodiment does not detect a branch point corresponding to the guidance route. This provides only spot information about recommended spots that can be visited without changing the direction of travel on the road currently being traveled, so that when a passenger of the vehicle decides to visit a recommended spot, the passenger can head to the recommended spot smoothly.
- the control unit 180 of the information providing device 100 determines the timing to start providing information based on the time required to travel from the current position of the mobile object to the branch point and the total information provision time for each recommended spot. In other words, when multiple recommended spots are detected to which the occupant is guided by branching off at the same branch point, the control unit 180 determines the timing to start providing information so that the provision of spot information for the multiple recommended spots and the consideration of whether or not to visit the recommended spots can be completed by the time the mobile object reaches the branch point.
- the provision of information on the multiple recommended spots and the consideration of whether or not to visit each of the recommended spots can be completed before the vehicle arrives at the branch point to the recommended spots, so that when the vehicle occupant decides to visit a recommended spot, the vehicle occupant can head smoothly to the recommended spot.
- the control unit 180 of the information providing device 100 in this embodiment provides spot information of the recommended spots that have a short distance from the branch point to the recommended spots. This makes it possible to provide preferentially the spot information of recommended spots that are located at positions that are a short travel distance from the branch point and that are easy for the occupants of the mobile body to stop at.
- the information providing device 100 may be realized by installing application software that executes the above-mentioned information providing method on a smartphone carried by a user. This makes it possible to provide information about recommended spots to users who are traveling and carrying a smartphone. Furthermore, the information providing device 100 may be realized by incorporating application software for executing the above-described information providing method into the software of a navigation device installed in a mobile object (such as a motorbike or an automobile). This enables the navigation device to provide information on recommended spots and provide route guidance to the recommended spots.
- a mobile object such as a motorbike or an automobile
- ⁇ Modification 2> As shown in Figure 10, in a situation in which recommended spot A, for which a guide route is calculated by branching off at branch point P1, and recommended spots B and C, for which guide routes are calculated by branching off at branch point P2, have been detected, if the above-mentioned information provision start time (TBC) is earlier than the predicted time of arrival at branch point P1 (TP1), the information provision time (TA) of recommended spot A is set to a time that is the information provision time (LA) back from the information provision start time (TBC).
- the control unit 180 starts providing information about recommended spot A from a time that is the information provision time (LA) earlier than the predicted time of arrival at the branch point (TP1), the information provision time (LA) cannot end before the information provision start time (TBC), and as a result, the provision of information about recommended spot B and recommended spot C cannot be completed by the time the moving body arrives at branch point P2.
- the information provision time (TA) of the recommended spot A is set to a time preceding the information provision start time (TBC) by the information provision time (LA).
- the processing of the recommended spot extraction unit 130, the guided route calculation unit 140, the branch point detection unit 150, the required time acquisition unit 160 and the control unit 180 of the above-mentioned information providing device 100 is high-speed calculation processing, and therefore the processing may be executed in a server. This allows high-speed calculation processing to be executed in the server, thereby reducing power consumption of the information providing device 100.
- a mobile terminal such as a smartphone that uses a secondary battery as a power source is operated as the information providing device 100, the power consumption of the mobile terminal can be reduced, thereby extending the continuous operating time of the mobile terminal.
