Definitions
- This disclosure relates to connectors.
- the connector disclosed in Patent Document 1 has a male housing and a female housing that can be mated with each other.
- the male housing and the female housing are held in a mated state by the locking projection of the male housing and the locking portion of the female housing.
- a configuration of this type of connector is also known, as disclosed in Patent Document 2.
- the connector disclosed herein was developed based on the above circumstances, and aims to increase the ability to maintain the mated state.
- the connector of the present disclosure comprises: A first housing and a second housing are provided, the first housing has a fitting tubular portion into which the second housing can be fitted, the fitting cylinder portion has a cover wall that covers the second housing from the outside, a pair of ribs that protrude inward from the cover wall and face each other in a width direction that intersects with a fitting direction of the first housing and the second housing, and a lock portion that protrudes inward from the cover wall and is disposed between the ribs, the second housing has a lock arm disposed between each of the ribs when the second housing is fitted to the first housing, the lock arm has an elastically deformable arm body and a lock protrusion protruding from the arm body and engaging with the lock portion, The dimension of the lock protrusion in the width direction is smaller than the dimension of the arm body in the width direction, the first housing has a reinforcing portion that is arranged on an outer side of the locking protrusion in the width direction and at a position that overlaps with the arm body
- This disclosure makes it possible to increase the force that maintains the connector in its mated state.
- FIG. 1 is a side cross-sectional view of a connector according to a first embodiment.
- FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the fitting tubular portion of the first housing as viewed from the front.
- FIG. 3 is an enlarged rear view of a main portion of the first housing as viewed from the rear.
- FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken along line AA in FIG.
- FIG. 5 is a partial enlarged perspective view showing the lock arm of the second housing.
- FIG. 6 is a partially enlarged cross-sectional side view showing the locking portion and the locking arm in a locked state.
- FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view taken along line BB in FIG.
- the connector of the present disclosure comprises: (1)
- the housing includes a first housing and a second housing.
- the first housing has a fitting tubular portion into which the second housing can be fitted.
- the fitting tubular portion has a cover wall that covers the second housing from the outside, a pair of ribs that protrude inward from the cover wall and face each other in a width direction that intersects with the fitting direction of the first housing and the second housing, and a locking portion that protrudes inward from the cover wall and is arranged between the ribs.
- the second housing has a locking arm that is arranged between the ribs when fitted with the first housing.
- the locking arm has an elastically deformable arm body and a locking protrusion that protrudes from the arm body and engages with the locking portion.
- the width dimension of the locking protrusion is smaller than the width dimension of the arm body.
- the first housing has a reinforcing portion that is arranged outside the width direction of the locking protrusion and at a position that overlaps with the arm body in the width direction when fitted with the second housing.
- the reinforcing portion protrudes from the cover wall to the rib.
- the cover wall is reinforced by being connected to the rib by the reinforcing portion, so that even if a force is applied in a direction to separate the first housing from the second housing while the locking protrusion and the locking portion are engaged, the cover wall is less likely to bend. This restricts deformation of the locking protrusion and the locking portion, making it difficult for the engagement to come off.
- the reinforcing portion extends in the mating direction, and that the front end of the reinforcing portion in the mating direction is connected to the locking portion. By connecting the front end of the reinforcing portion to the locking portion, the covering wall is made less likely to bend.
- the rear end of the reinforcing part in the fitting direction is located forward of the rear end of the covering wall. This allows the length dimension of the reinforcing part in the fitting direction to be the minimum dimension required for the covering wall, thereby improving formability.
- the tip of the locking protrusion in the protruding direction is formed with a top surface that intersects with the locking surface facing the locking portion and extends in the mating direction. It is preferable that the top surface is disposed at a position that is included in the formation range of the reinforcing portion in the mating direction when the first housing and the second housing are in the mated state.
- the reinforcing portion is provided in the covering wall in correspondence with the range pressed by the locking protrusion, so that deflection of the covering wall can be effectively suppressed.
- “within the formation range of the reinforcing portion in the mating direction” refers to the range in which the reinforcing portion is disposed in the mating direction.
- FIGS. 1 to 7. A first embodiment of the connector 10 of the present disclosure will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 7.
- the "front side”, “rear side”, “upper side”, “lower side”, “right side”, and “left side” are represented by “F”, “B”, “U”, “D”, “R”, and “L”, respectively.
