Abstract
本発明の実施の形態に係る試験体は、測定対象の金属から構成された構造体(101)と、構造体(101)の表面に接して配置された模擬狭隘構造(102)とから構成されている。模擬狭隘構造(102)は、例えば、構造体(101)の測定対象面を覆って配置することができる。模擬狭隘構造(102)は、複数の粒子(103)から構成され、隣り合う粒子(103)の間の隙間を狭隘部として備えるものである。粒子(103)は、球状(真球状)とされている。また、模擬狭隘構造(102)は、複数の粒子(103)が最密充填の状態で集合したものである。
Description
本発明は、腐食速度測定に用いる試験体およびその作製方法に関する。
インフラ設備など野外に設置される金属構造物は、雨や風によって運ばれる塩化物イオンCl-、硫酸イオンSO4
2-、硝酸イオンNH3
-などの腐食促進因子および、酸素・水の存在によって腐食反応(大気腐食)が進行して劣化する。この大気腐食には、金属構造物表面に形成される錆膜の下などの狭隘部で進行する場合がある。
狭隘部では、腐食に必要な要素(腐食促進因子・水・酸素)の拡散が抑制され、腐食に必要な要素が金属表面へ自由に出入りすることができない。このため、狭隘部では、「狭隘部へ腐食に必要な要素が到達しづらく腐食速度を低下させる効果」と、「狭隘部へ侵入した腐食に必要な要素が狭隘部から逃げづらくなり腐食速度を上昇させる効果」とが同時に起こるため、開放部よりも複雑な腐食挙動となる。
インフラ構造物ではこのような狭隘部は多くみられ、狭隘部での金属材料の腐食速度を測定し、腐食劣化を予測することは、インフラ構造物の予防保全の観点から重要である。例えば、錆膜下での金属材料の腐食速度を測定する場合、事前に錆を発生させた金属材料に対して腐食速度評価を実施する方法がある(非特許文献1)。

しかしながら、上述した従来技術では再現性に乏しく、狭隘部の体積を測定する手段も存在せず、狭隘部の体積を制御することも困難であり、系統的に腐食速度を評価することができず、腐食劣化の予測をすることができない。
本発明は、以上のような問題点を解消するためになされたものであり、金属構造物表面に形成される狭隘部で進行する腐食を、系統的に評価して腐食劣化が予測できるようにすることを目的とする。
本発明に係る試験体は、測定対象の金属から構成された構造体と、腐食しない材料からなり径が既知の球状とされた複数の粒子から構成され、最密充填の状態で構造体の表面に接して配置され、粒子間の隙間を狭隘部として備える模擬狭隘構造とを備える。
また、本発明に係る試験体の作製方法は、測定対象の金属から構成された構造体を用意する第1工程と、腐食しない材料からなり径が既知の球状とされた複数の粒子を容器の中に充填することで、粒子間の隙間を狭隘部として備える模擬狭隘構造を形成して、模擬狭隘構造を構造体の表面に接して配置する第2工程とを備える。
以上説明したように、本発明によれば、測定対象の金属から構成された構造体の表面に、径が既知の球状とされた複数の粒子から構成された模擬狭隘構造を接して配置したので、金属構造物表面に形成される狭隘部で進行する腐食を、系統的に評価して腐食劣化が予測できる。
以下、本発明の実施の形態に係る試験体について図1を参照して説明する。この試験体は、測定対象の金属から構成された構造体101と、構造体101の表面に接して配置された模擬狭隘構造102とから構成されている。模擬狭隘構造102は、例えば、構造体101の測定対象面を覆って配置することができる。模擬狭隘構造102は、複数の粒子103から構成され、隣り合う粒子103の間の隙間を狭隘部として備えるものである。粒子103は、球状(真球状)とされている。また、模擬狭隘構造102は、複数の粒子103が最密充填の状態で集合したものである。模擬狭隘構造102は、複数の粒子103の集合体(粉粒体)ということができる。
構造体101は、例えば、鋼材である。粒子103は、プラスチックやガラスなどの腐食しない材料から構成することができる。また、粒子103は、径が既知とされている。
例えば、図2に示すように、板状の構造体101を底面とし、枠体111を側面とした容器110に、模擬狭隘構造102を収容して試験体とすることができる。例えば、枠体111と支持基板112との間に構造体101を配置し、枠体111の底部延在部と支持基板112とをクランプ115で固定することで、枠体111に構造体101を押しつけて固定することができる。また、枠体111の底部延在部と構造体101との間にOリング113を配置し、構造体101と支持基板112との間にOリング114を配置することができる。
次に、試験体の作製方法について説明する。まず、測定対象の金属から構成された構造体101を用意する(第1工程)。例えば、図3Aに示すように、板状の構造体101を底面とし、枠体111を側面とした容器110を形成する。枠体111と支持基板112との間に構造体101を配置し、枠体111の底部延在部と支持基板112とをクランプ115で固定することで、容器110とすることができる。
次いで、図3Bに示すように、複数の粒子103を容器110の中に充填することで模擬狭隘構造102を形成して、模擬狭隘構造102を構造体101の表面に接して配置する(第2工程)。
板状の構造体101に、半径rの粒子103による模擬狭隘構造102を接触させる場合、模擬狭隘構造102における狭隘部の総体積Vは次の式(1)により表現することがでる。粒子103の半径rを変えることで、狭隘部の総体積を任意に設定することが可能である。
また、模擬狭隘構造102と構造体101との界面において、1つの粒子103が構造体101と面積sで接しているとし、粒子103の半径rは底面が、長さaの長辺と長さb短辺からなる長方形の構造体101に比較して十分に小さく、端の影響は無視できるものと仮定する。この場合、構造体101が模擬狭隘構造102の狭隘部で大気(空気)に接する面積Sは、以下の式(2)により示すことができ、面積Sは任意に設定することが可能である。
次に、実施の形態に係る試験体を用いた腐食試験について説明する。例えば、板状の構造体101の上に配置された模擬狭隘構造102の上から、塩水を滴下し、滴下した塩水を模擬狭隘構造102に含浸させることで構造体101の表面に作用させ、さらに乾燥させることで、構造体101の表面を腐食させることができる。上述した塩水の滴下・乾燥のサイクルを継続させる中で発生する腐食の速度は、よく知られた水素透過試験法により計測することができる。構造体101の模擬狭隘構造102との界面で腐食が進行すると、この腐食が進行している構造体101の表面で水素が発生する。構造体101の表面で発生した水素は、構造体101を透過する。この構造体101を透過した水素を測定することで、上述した腐食の速度を推定することができる。
例えば、図4に示す試験システムを用いることができる。この試験システムは、ポテンショスタットなどの電気化学測定装置120と、電気化学測定装置120に接続された対極121,参照極122と、対極121,参照極122を浸漬する測定セル123に収容した電解質溶液124とを備える。電解質溶液124は、例えば、水酸化ナトリウムの水溶液とすることができる。また、構造体101と枠体111に充填された模擬狭隘構造102とによる試験体を用意し、構造体101の底面に、測定セル123の開口部123aで、測定セル123に収容されている電解質溶液124を接触させる。開口部123aの周縁部と、構造体101の底面との間に、Oリング116を配置することで、液漏れを防ぐことができる。さらに、構造体101を作用極として電気化学測定装置120に接続する。
構造体101(作用極)、参照極122、および対極121を用いた3極構成で、構造体101の電位を参照極122に対して一定に制御して、構造体101と対極121との間に流れる電流を測定することで、構造体101を透過してきた水素を測定することができる。
ところで、上述では、測定対象の金属から構成された構造体を板状として説明したが、これに限るものではない。例えば、測定対象の金属から構成された構造体は、棒状(柱状)とすることができる。例えば、図5に示すように、容器110aの中に設けられた模擬狭隘構造102に、棒状の構造体101aを突入させることで、模擬狭隘構造102を構造体101aの表面に接して配置することができる(第2工程)。この構成において、棒状とした構造体101aの一部の側面は、模擬狭隘構造102に接した状態となり、これらの界面においては、隣り合う粒子103の間による狭隘部が存在するものとなる。
この場合、構造体101aを突入させている周囲の模擬狭隘構造102に、塩水を滴下し、滴下した塩水を模擬狭隘構造102に含浸させることで、模擬狭隘構造102に突入している部分の構造体101aの表面に、塩水を作用させることができる。また、模擬狭隘構造102より上部空間に突出している部分の構造体101aを、上述同様に電解質溶液に接触させ、ポテンショスタットを用いた3極構成で腐食電位を測定することで、腐食速度の計測が可能となる。
以上に説明したように、本発明によれば、測定対象の金属から構成された構造体の表面に、径が既知の球状とされた複数の粒子から構成された模擬狭隘構造を接して配置したので、金属構造物表面に形成される狭隘部で進行する腐食を、系統的に評価して腐食劣化が予測できるようになる。
従来、全く同一の条件で腐食促進試験を行ったとしても、全く同一の錆膜を得ることはできず、また、錆膜により形成される狭隘部の総体積や、錆膜との界面の金属構造物表面の大気に触れている面積を知ることができないため、狭隘部で進行する腐食を、系統的に評価することができなかった。本発明によれば、模擬狭隘構造を用いるので、狭隘部で進行する腐食を、系統的に評価することができるようになる。
なお、本発明は以上に説明した実施の形態に限定されるものではなく、本発明の技術的思想内で、当分野において通常の知識を有する者により、多くの変形および組み合わせが実施可能であることは明白である。
