Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Elektrolysevorrichtung (1) zur Herstellung von Wasserstoff durch elektrochemische Reaktion aus einer wässrigen, alkalischen Lösung, wobei die Elektrolysevorrichtung (1) eine anodische Halbzelle (2) und eine kathodische Halbzelle (3) umfasst. Die anodische Halb zelle (2) und die kathodische Halbzelle (3) sind mittels einer Membran (4) getrennt und die kathodische Halbzelle (3) ist von der alkalischen Lösung durchflutbar. Die anodische Halbzelle (2) umfasst eine anodische Elektrode (5) und die kathodische Halbzelle (3) umfasst eine kathodische Elektrode (6), wobei die anodische Elektrode (5), die kathodische Elektrode (6) und die Membran (4) eine Membran-Elektroden-Einheit (7) bilden. Weiters ist eine initiale Füllmenge an alkalischer Lösung in der kathodischen Halbzelle (3) im Normalbetrieb der Elektrolysevorrichtung (1) ausschließlich durch Diffusionsvorgänge durch die Membran-Elektroden-Einheit (7) und/oder durch elektrochemische Reaktion der alkalischen Lösung in der Membran-Elektroden-Einheit (7) veränderbar.
