第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、充放電特性に優れた電池を得るために用いられ得る。当該電池の例は、全固体電池である。全固体電池は、一次電池であってもよく、二次電池であってもよい。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料が上記(A)を満たす場合、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、実質的に、Li、Si、Al、O、およびXからなってもよい。
以上の構成によれば、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、例えば、1×10-4S/cm以上のイオン伝導度を有し得る。
本開示において、「第1実施形態による固体電解質材料が、実質的に、Li、Si、Al、O、およびXからなる」とは、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を構成する全元素の物質量の合計に対する、Li、Si、Al、O、およびXの物質量の合計の比(すなわち、モル分率)が、95%以上であることを意味する。一例として、当該比は、98%以上であってもよい。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、Li、Si、Al、O、およびXのみからなっていてもよい。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、上記(A)を満たす場合、硫黄を含有しないことが望ましい。硫黄を含有しない固体電解質材料は、大気に曝露されても硫化水素が発生しないので、安全性に優れる。特許文献1に開示された硫化物固体電解質は、大気中に曝露されると、硫化水素が発生し得る。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、不可避的に混入される元素を含有していてもよい。当該元素の例は、水素、または窒素である。このような元素は、固体電解質材料の原料粉、または、固体電解質材料を製造あるいは保管するための雰囲気中に存在し得る。第1実施形態による固体電解質材料に不可避的に混入される元素は、例えば、1モル%以下である。

固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(1)において、0.4<c1/(a1+c1)<0.95が充足されてもよく、0.438≦c1/(a1+c1)≦0.906が充足されてもよく、0.643≦c1/(a1+c1)≦0.823が充足されてもよい。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(1)において、e1/(d1+e1)>0.4が充足されてもよい。これにより、結晶中に含まれる酸素の量が過剰にならないため、2価のアニオンである酸素がリチウムイオンの伝導を阻害するのを抑制できる。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(1)において、e1/(d1+e1)<0.95が充足されてもよい。これにより、結晶中に十分な量の酸素が存在するため、酸素の高い結合性により、安定な結晶構造を実現できる。
式(1)において、e1/(d1+e1)の上限値および下限値は、0.4超、0.45、0.5、0.615、0.833、および0.95未満、の数値から選ばれる任意の組み合わせによって規定され得る。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(1)において、0.4<e1/(d1+e1)<0.95が充足されてもよく、0.45≦e1/(d1+e1)≦0.833が充足されてもよく、0.50≦e1/(d1+e1)≦0.615が充足されてもよい。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(1)において、b1/c1>0.05が充足されてもよい。これにより、結晶中で結晶相が安定的に存在できるようになる。すなわち、安定な結晶構造が実現される。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(1)において、b1/c1<1.0が充足されてもよい。これにより、結晶中で結晶相が安定的に存在できるようになる。すなわち、安定な結晶構造が実現される。
式(1)において、b1/c1の上限値および下限値は、0.05超、0.0526、0.111、0.176、0.25、0.8、および1未満、の数値から選ばれる任意の組み合わせによって規定され得る。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(1)において、0.05<b1/c1<1.0が充足されてもよく、0.05<b1/c1≦0.8が充足されてもよく、0.0526≦b1/c1≦0.25が充足されてもよい。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料のX線回折パターンは、Cu-Kα線(波長1.5405Å、および、1.5444Å)をX線源として用いて、θ-2θ法により測定され得る。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、上記(A)を満たす場合、第1-1結晶相を含有していてもよい。第1-1結晶相のX線回折パターンにおいては、14°以上かつ16°以下、18°以上かつ19°以下、19°超かつ20°以下、26°以上かつ28°以下、28°超かつ30.5°以下、および47°以上かつ50°以下の回折角2θの範囲のそれぞれに少なくとも1つのピークが存在し、かつ、30.5°超33°以下の回折角2θの範囲に少なくとも3つのピークが存在する。第1-1結晶相を含有する固体電解質材料は、高いイオン伝導度を有する。
ピークの角度は、SN比の値が3以上で、かつ半値幅が10°以下である山状の部分の最大強度を示す角度である。半値幅とは、ピークの最大強度をIMAXとしたとき、強度がIMAXの半分の値となる2つの回折角の差で表される幅である。SN比は、バックグラウンドノイズNに対する信号Sの比である。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、上記(A)を満たす場合、第1-2結晶相を含有していてもよい。第1-2結晶相のX線回折パターンにおいては、11°以上かつ14°以下、15°以上かつ17°以下、23°超かつ26°以下、26°超かつ28.5°以下、および28.5°超かつ30°以下の回折角2θの範囲のそれぞれに少なくとも1つのピークが存在し、かつ、20°以上かつ23°以下、および30.5°以上かつ33°以下の回折角2θの範囲のそれぞれに少なくとも2つのピークが存在する。第1-2結晶相を含有する固体電解質材料は、高いイオン伝導度を有する。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導度を高めるために、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、第1-1結晶相および第1-2結晶相の両方を含有していてもよい。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、上記(A)を満たす場合、第1-1結晶相および第1-2結晶相とは異なる結晶構造を有する第1-3結晶相をさらに含有していてもよい。

以上の構成によれば、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、例えば、室温近傍において1×10-6S/cm以上のイオン伝導度を有し得る。
上記(C)を満たす場合、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料には、実質的に硫黄が含まれないことが望ましい。第1実施形態による固体電解質材料に実質的に硫黄が含まれないとは、当該固体電解質材料が、不純物として不可避に混入した硫黄を除き、構成元素として硫黄を含まないことを意味する。この場合、固体電解質材料に不純物として混入される硫黄は、例えば1モル%以下である。安全性の観点から、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、硫黄を含有しないことが望ましい。硫黄を含有しない固体電解質材料は、大気に曝露されても硫化水素が発生しないので、安全性に優れる。特許文献1に開示された硫化物固体電解質は、大気中に曝露されると、硫化水素が発生し得る。

第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、実質的に、Li、Cr、Al、O、およびXからなっていてもよい。「第1実施形態による固体電解質材料が、実質的に、Li、Cr、Al、O、およびXからなる」とは、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を構成する全元素の物質量の合計に対する、Li、Cr、Al、O、およびXの物質量の合計のモル比(すなわち、モル分率)が、95%以上であることを意味する。一例として、当該モル比は、98%以上であってもよい。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、Li、Cr、Al、O、およびXのみからなっていてもよい。

固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(3)において、b3=1のとき、0≦c3≦20が充足されてもよく、0≦c3≦9.0が充足されてもよく、4.0≦c3≦9.0が充足されてもよい。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(3)において、b3=1のとき、0<d3≦10が充足されてもよく、1.0≦d3≦10が充足されてもよい。

固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(3)において、b3/(a3+b3)<0.95が充足されてもよい。これにより、結晶中に十分な量のリチウムイオンが存在するため、リチウムイオンが伝導しやすくなる。
式(3)において、b3/(a3+b3)の上限値および下限値は、0.025超、0.0323、0.0625、0.25、0.333、および0.95未満、の数値から選ばれる任意の組み合わせによって規定され得る。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(3)において、0.025<b3/(a3+b3)<0.95が充足されてもよく、0.0323≦c3/(a3+c3)≦0.333が充足されてもよい。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(3)において、e3/(d3+e3)>0.4が充足されてもよい。これにより、結晶中に含まれる酸素の量が過剰にならないため、2価のアニオンである酸素がリチウムイオンの伝導を阻害するのを抑制できる。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(3)において、e3/(d3+e3)<0.95が充足されてもよい。これにより、結晶中に十分な量の酸素が存在するため、酸素の高い結合性により、安定な結晶構造を実現できる。
式(3)において、e3/(d3+e3)の上限値および下限値は、0.4超、0.45、0.75、0.8、0.833および0.95未満、の数値から選ばれる任意の組み合わせによって規定され得る。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(3)において、0.4<e3/(d3+e3)<0.95が充足されてもよく、0.45≦e3/(d3+e3)≦0.833が充足されてもよく、0.75≦e3/(d3+e3)≦0.80が充足されてもよい。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(3)において、0≦c3/b3≦20が充足されてもよい。これにより、結晶中で結晶相が安定的に存在できるようになる。すなわち、安定な結晶構造が実現される。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、式(3)において、0≦c3/b3≦20が充足されてもよく、0≦c3/b3≦15が充足されてもよく、0≦c3/b3≦9が充足されてもよい。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、上記(C)を満たす場合、第3-1結晶相を含有していてもよい。第3-1結晶相のX線回折パターンにおいては、28°以上かつ32°以下、33°以上かつ37°以下、および48°以上かつ52°以下の回折角2θの範囲のそれぞれに少なくとも1つのピークが存在する。第3-1結晶相を含有する固体電解質材料は、高いイオン伝導度を有する。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、上記(C)を満たす場合、第3-2結晶相を含有していてもよい。第3-2結晶相のX線回折パターンにおいては、23°以上かつ27°以下、32°以上かつ35°以下、35°超かつ38°以下、40°以上かつ44°以下、および53°以上かつ57°以下の回折角2θの範囲それぞれに少なくとも1つのピークが存在する。第3-2結晶相を含有する固体電解質材料は、高いイオン伝導度を有する。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導度を高めるために、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、上記(C)を満たす場合、第3-1結晶相、および第3-2結晶相からなる群より選択される少なくとも2つを含有していてもよい。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、上記(C)を満たす場合、第3-1結晶相および第3-2結晶相とは異なる結晶構造を有する第3-3結晶相をさらに含有していてもよい。
固体電解質材料のイオン伝導性を高めるために、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料において、Xは、Clを含んでいてもよい。Xは、Clであってもよい。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料の形状は、限定されない。当該形状の例は、針状、球状、または楕円球状である。第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、粒子であってもよい。第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、ペレットまたは板の形状を有していてもよい。
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料の形状が粒子状(例えば、球状)である場合、固体電解質材料は、0.1μm以上かつ100μm以下のメジアン径を有していてもよく、0.5μm以上かつ10μm以下のメジアン径を有していてもよい。これにより、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、より高いイオン伝導性を有する。さらに、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料が、活物質のような他の材料と混合される場合に、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料および他の材料の分散状態が良好になる。
メジアン径とは、体積基準の粒度分布における累積体積が50%に等しい場合の粒径(d50)を意味する。体積基準の粒度分布は、例えば、レーザー回折式測定装置または画像解析装置により測定される。
<固体電解質材料の製造方法>
第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、例えば、下記の方法により、製造される。

目的とする組成を有するように、ハロゲン化物および酸化物の原料粉が混合される。目的とする組成となるように、原料粉が用意され、混合される。原料粉は、例えば、ハロゲン化物または酸化物であってもよい。
一例として、目的とする組成がLi0.298Si0.0526AlO1.17Cl1.17である場合、LiCl原料粉、AlCl3原料粉、Al2O3原料粉、およびSiO2原料粉が、LiCl:AlCl3:Al2O3:SiO2=0.299:0.292:0.356:0.0528のモル比となるように混合される。合成過程において生じ得る組成変化を相殺するように、原料粉はあらかじめ調整されたモル比で混合されていてもよい。
一例として、目的とする組成がLi3Mg0.1Al0.9OCl4である場合、LiCl原料粉、Li2O原料粉、MgCl2原料粉、および、AlCl3原料粉が、LiCl:Li2O:MgCl2:AlCl3=0.333:0.333:0.0333:0.300のモル比となるように混合される。合成過程において生じ得る組成変化を相殺するように、原料粉はあらかじめ調整されたモル比で混合されていてもよい。
一例として、目的とする組成がLi3CrOCl4である場合、LiCl原料粉、Li2O原料粉、およびCrCl3原料粉が、LiCl:Li2O:CrCl3=0.333:0.333:0.333のモル比となるように混合される。合成過程において生じ得る組成変化を相殺するように、原料粉はあらかじめ調整されたモル比で混合されていてもよい。
原料粉の混合物を、遊星型ボールミルのような混合装置内でメカノケミカル的に互いに反応させ、反応物を得る。すなわち、メカノケミカルミリングの方法を用いて、原料粉を互いに反応させる。得られた反応物は、さらに、不活性ガス雰囲気中または真空中で焼成されてもよい。
あるいは、原料粉の混合物を不活性ガス雰囲気中または真空中で焼成して互いに反応させ、反応物を得てもよい。不活性ガスの例は、ヘリウム、窒素、またはアルゴンである。
これらの方法により、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料が得られる。
固体電解質材料の組成は、例えば、高周波誘導結合プラズマ(ICP)発光分光分析法およびイオンクロマトグラフィー法により決定することができる。例えば、Liの組成はICP発光分光分析法により決定され、Si、Mg、Cr、Al、O、およびXの組成はイオンクロマトグラフィー法により決定され得る。

第2実施形態による電池は、正極、電解質層、および負極を備える。電解質層は、正極および負極の間に配置されている。正極、電解質層、および負極からなる群より選択される少なくとも1つは、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を含有する。
第2実施形態による電池は、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を含有するため、優れた充放電特性を有する。
以下、第2実施形態による電池の具体例が説明される。

電池1000は、正極201、電解質層202、および負極203を備える。電解質層202は、正極201および負極203の間に配置されている。
正極201は、正極活物質204および固体電解質100を含有する。
負極203は、負極活物質205および固体電解質100を含有する。
固体電解質100は、例えば、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を含む。固体電解質100は、例えば、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を主たる成分として含有する粒子である。第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を主たる成分として含有する粒子とは、モル比で最も多く含まれる成分が第1実施形態による固体電解質材料である粒子を意味する。固体電解質100は、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料からなる粒子であってもよい。
正極201は、金属イオン(例えば、リチウムイオン)を吸蔵かつ放出可能な材料を含有する。当該材料は、例えば、正極活物質204である。
正極活物質204の例は、リチウム含有遷移金属酸化物、遷移金属フッ化物、ポリアニオン材料、フッ素化ポリアニオン材料、遷移金属硫化物、遷移金属オキシフッ化物、遷移金属オキシ硫化物、または遷移金属オキシ窒化物である。リチウム含有遷移金属酸化物の例は、Li(Ni,Co,Al)O2、LiCoO2、またはLi(Ni,Co,Mn)O2である。電池のエネルギー密度の観点から、正極活物質204の好適な例は、Li(Ni,Co,Mn)O2である。Li(Ni,Co,Mn)O2は、4V以上の電位で充電および放電ができる。
本開示において、「(A,B,C)」は、「A、B、およびCからなる群より選択される少なくとも1つ」を意味する。ここで、A、B、およびCは、いずれも元素を表す。
正極活物質204の形状は、特定の形状に限定されない。正極活物質204は、粒子であってもよい。正極活物質204は、0.1μm以上かつ100μm以下のメジアン径を有していてもよい。正極活物質204が0.1μm以上のメジアン径を有する場合、正極201において、正極活物質204および固体電解質100が、良好に分散し得る。これにより、電池1000の充放電特性が向上する。正極活物質204が100μm以下のメジアン径を有する場合、正極活物質204内のリチウム拡散速度が向上する。これにより、電池1000が高出力で動作し得る。
正極活物質204は、固体電解質100よりも大きいメジアン径を有していてもよい。これにより、正極201において、正極活物質204および固体電解質100が良好に分散し得る。
電池1000のエネルギー密度および出力を高めるために、正極201において、正極活物質204の体積および固体電解質100の体積の合計に対する正極活物質204の体積の比は、0.30以上かつ0.95以下であってもよい。
電池1000のエネルギー密度および出力を高めるために、正極201は、10μm以上かつ500μm以下の厚みを有していてもよい。
電解質層202は、電解質材料を含有する。当該電解質材料は、例えば、固体電解質材料である。電解質層202は、固体電解質層であってもよい。
電解質層202に含まれる固体電解質材料は、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を含有していてもよい。電解質層202は、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を含有してもよい。電解質層202は、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を50質量%以上含んでいてもよい。電解質層202は、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を70質量%以上含んでいてもよい。電解質層202は、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料を90質量%以上含んでいてもよい。電解質層202は、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料のみからなっていてもよい。
以下、第1実施形態による固体電解質材料は、第1固体電解質材料という。第1固体電解質材料とは異なる固体電解質材料は、第2固体電解質材料という。
電解質層202は、第1固体電解質材料だけでなく、第2固体電解質材料を含有していてもよい。電解質層202において、第1固体電解質材料および第2固体電解質材料は、均一に分散していてもよい。第1固体電解質材料からなる層および第2固体電解質材料からなる層が、電池1000の積層方向に沿って積層されていてもよい。
電解質層202は、第2固体電解質材料のみで構成されていてもよい。
第2固体電解質材料の例は、Li2MgX’4、Li2FeX’4、Li(Al,Ga,In)X’4、Li3(Al,Ga,In)X’6、およびLiX’である。ここで、X’は、F、Cl、Br、およびIからなる群より選択される少なくとも1つである。
電解質層202は、1μm以上かつ100μm以下の厚みを有していてもよい。電解質層202が1μm以上の厚みを有する場合、正極201および負極203が短絡しにくくなる。電解質層202が100μm以下の厚みを有する場合、電池1000が高出力で動作し得る。
負極203は、金属イオン(例えば、リチウムイオン)を吸蔵かつ放出可能な材料を含有する。当該材料は、例えば、負極活物質205である。
負極活物質205の例は、金属材料、炭素材料、酸化物、窒化物、錫化合物、または珪素化合物である。金属材料は、単体の金属材料であってもよく、あるいは合金であってもよい。金属材料の例は、リチウム金属またはリチウム合金である。炭素材料の例は、天然黒鉛、コークス、黒鉛化途上炭素、炭素繊維、球状炭素、人造黒鉛、または非晶質炭素である。容量密度の観点から、負極活物質の好適な例は、珪素(すなわち、Si)、錫(すなわち、Sn)、珪素化合物、または錫化合物である。負極活物質205としてグラファイトのような平均放電電圧の低い活物質を用いることで、電池1000のエネルギー密度を向上させることができる。
負極活物質205の形状は、特定の形状に限定されない。負極活物質205は、粒子であってもよい。負極活物質205は、0.1μm以上かつ100μm以下のメジアン径を有していてもよい。負極活物質205が0.1μm以上のメジアン径を有する場合、負極203において、負極活物質205および固体電解質100が良好に分散し得る。これにより、電池1000の充放電特性が向上する。負極活物質205が100μm以下のメジアン径を有する場合、負極活物質205内のリチウム拡散速度が向上する。これにより、電池1000が高出力で動作し得る。
負極活物質205は、固体電解質100よりも大きいメジアン径を有していてもよい。これにより、負極203において、負極活物質205および固体電解質100の分散状態が良好になる。
電池1000のエネルギー密度および出力を高めるために、負極203において、負極活物質205の体積および固体電解質100の体積の合計に対する負極活物質205の体積の比は、0.30以上かつ0.95以下であってもよい。
電池1000のエネルギー密度および出力を高めるために、負極203は、10μm以上かつ500μm以下の厚みを有していてもよい。
正極201、電解質層202、および負極203からなる群より選択される少なくとも1つは、イオン伝導性、化学的安定性、および電気化学的安定性を高める目的で、第2固体電解質材料を含有していてもよい。第2固体電解質材料の例は、硫化物固体電解質、酸化物固体電解質、ハロゲン化物固体電解質、または有機ポリマー固体電解質である。
硫化物固体電解質の例は、Li2S-P2S5、Li2S-SiS2、Li2S-B2S3、Li2S-GeS2、Li3.25Ge0.25P0.75S4、またはLi10GeP2S12である。
酸化物固体電解質の例は、
(i)LiTi2(PO4)3またはその元素置換体のようなNASICON型固体電解質、
(ii)(LaLi)TiO3のようなペロブスカイト型固体電解質、
(iii)Li14ZnGe4O16、Li4SiO4、LiGeO4またはその元素置換体のようなLISICON型固体電解質、
(iv)Li7La3Zr2O12またはその元素置換体のようなガーネット型固体電解質、または
(v)Li3PO4またはそのN置換体、

ハロゲン化物固体電解質の例は、上述のように、Li2MgX’4、Li2FeX’4、Li(Al,Ga,In)X’4、Li3(Al,Ga,In)X’6、またはLiX’である。
ハロゲン化物固体電解質の他の例は、LipMeqYrZ6により表される化合物である。ここで、p+m’q+3r=6、およびr>0が充足される。Meは、LiおよびY以外の金属元素と半金属元素とからなる群より選択される少なくとも1つの元素である。m’の値は、Meの価数を表す。Zは、F、Cl、Br、およびIからなる群より選択される少なくとも1つである。「半金属元素」とは、B、Si、Ge、As、Sb、およびTeである。「金属元素」とは、周期表第1族から第12族中に含まれる全ての元素(ただし、水素を除く)、および周期表第13族から第16族に含まれる全ての元素(ただし、B、Si、Ge、As、Sb、Te、C、N、P、O、S、およびSeを除く)である。
ハロゲン化物固体電解質のイオン伝導度を高めるために、Meは、Mg、Ca、Sr、Ba、Zn、Sc、Al、Ga、Bi、Zr、Hf、Ti、Sn、Ta、およびNbからなる群より選択される少なくとも1つであってもよい。
ハロゲン化物固体電解質は、Li3YCl6またはLi3YBr6であってもよい。
有機ポリマー固体電解質の例は、高分子化合物およびリチウム塩の化合物である。
高分子化合物は、エチレンオキシド構造を有していてもよい。エチレンオキシド構造を有する高分子化合物は、リチウム塩を多く含有できるため、イオン伝導度を高めることができる。
リチウム塩の例は、LiPF6、LiBF4、LiSbF6、LiAsF6、LiSO3CF3、LiN(SO2CF3)2、LiN(SO2C2F5)2、LiN(SO2CF3)(SO2C4F9)、またはLiC(SO2CF3)3である。これらから選択される1種のリチウム塩が単独で使用されてもよい。あるいは、これらから選択される2種以上のリチウム塩の混合物が使用されてもよい。
正極201、電解質層202、および負極203からなる群より選択される少なくとも1つは、リチウムイオンの授受を容易にし、電池1000の出力特性を向上する目的で、非水電解液、ゲル電解質、またはイオン液体を含有していてもよい。
非水電解液は、非水溶媒および当該非水溶媒に溶けたリチウム塩を含む。
非水溶媒の例は、環状炭酸エステル溶媒、鎖状炭酸エステル溶媒、環状エーテル溶媒、鎖状エーテル溶媒、環状エステル溶媒、鎖状エステル溶媒、またはフッ素溶媒である。環状炭酸エステル溶媒の例は、エチレンカーボネート、プロピレンカーボネート、またはブチレンカーボネートである。鎖状炭酸エステル溶媒の例は、ジメチルカーボネート、エチルメチルカーボネート、またはジエチルカーボネートである。環状エーテル溶媒の例は、テトラヒドロフラン、1,4-ジオキサン、または1,3-ジオキソランである。鎖状エーテル溶媒の例は、1,2-ジメトキシエタンまたは1,2-ジエトキシエタンである。環状エステル溶媒の例は、γ-ブチロラクトンである。鎖状エステル溶媒の例は、酢酸メチルである。フッ素溶媒の例は、フルオロエチレンカーボネート、フルオロプロピオン酸メチル、フルオロベンゼン、フルオロエチルメチルカーボネート、またはフルオロジメチレンカーボネートである。これらから選択される1種の非水溶媒が、単独で使用されてもよい。あるいは、これらから選択される2種以上の非水溶媒の混合物が使用されてもよい。
リチウム塩の例は、LiPF6、LiBF4、LiSbF6、LiAsF6、LiSO3CF3、LiN(SO2CF3)2、LiN(SO2C2F5)2、LiN(SO2CF3)(SO2C4F9)、またはLiC(SO2CF3)3である。これらから選択される1種のリチウム塩が、単独で使用されてもよい。あるいは、これらから選択される2種以上のリチウム塩の混合物が使用されてもよい。
リチウム塩の濃度は、例えば、0.5mol/リットル以上2mol/リットル以下である。
ゲル電解質として、非水電解液を含浸させたポリマー材料が使用され得る。ポリマー材料の例は、ポリエチレンオキシド、ポリアクリルニトリル、ポリフッ化ビニリデン、ポリメチルメタクリレート、またはエチレンオキシド結合を有するポリマーである。
イオン液体に含まれるカチオンの例は、

第2実施形態による電池の形状の例は、コイン型、円筒型、角型、シート型、ボタン型、扁平型、または積層型である。
第2実施形態による電池は、例えば、正極形成用の材料、電解質層形成用の材料、および負極形成用の材料を準備し、公知の方法で、正極、電解質層、および負極がこの順で配置された積層体を作製することによって製造されてもよい。
以下、実施例および比較例を参照しながら、本開示がより詳細に説明される。
(実施例1-1)
[固体電解質材料の作製]
-60℃以下の露点を有するアルゴン雰囲気(以下、「乾燥アルゴン雰囲気」という)中で、原料粉として、LiCl、AlCl3、Al2O3およびSiO2が、LiCl:AlCl3:Al2O3:SiO2=0.299:0.292:0.356:0.0528のモル比となるように用意された。これらの原料粉は、混合され、遊星型ボールミルを用いて、12時間、500rpmでミリング処理された。このようにして、実施例1-1による固体電解質材料の粉末が得られた。固体電解質材料の組成の測定値は仕込み比とほぼ同じであることが予備実験により確認されたため、ここでは得られた固体電解質材料の組成を仕込み比で示す。実施例1-1による固体電解質材料は、Li0.298Si0.0526AlO1.17Cl1.17の組成を有していた。
[固体電解質材料の作製]

-30℃以下の露点を有するドライ雰囲気中で、X線回折装置(RIGAKU社、MiniFlex600)を用いて、実施例1-1による固体電解質材料のX線回折パターンが測定された。X線源として、Cu-Kα線が用いられた。
実施例1-1による固体電解質材料のX線回折パターンにおいては、15.06°、18.53°、19.27°、27.33°、29.74°、30.09°、30.70°、31.27°、31.52°、および48.36°の回折角2θにピークが存在していた。
[イオン伝導度の測定]
図3は、固体電解質材料のイオン伝導度を評価するために用いられる加圧成形ダイス300の模式図である。

加圧成形ダイス300は、パンチ上部301、枠型302、およびパンチ下部303を具備していた。枠型302は、絶縁性のポリカーボネートから形成されていた。パンチ上部301およびパンチ下部303は、電子伝導性のステンレスから形成されていた。枠型302は、絶縁性のポリカーボネートから形成されていた。
図3に示される加圧成形ダイス300を用いて、下記の方法により、実施例1-1による固体電解質材料のイオン伝導度が測定された。
乾燥アルゴン雰囲気中で、実施例1-1による固体電解質材料の粉末(すなわち、図3における固体電解質材料の粉末101)が加圧成形ダイス300の内部に充填された。加圧成形ダイス300の内部で、パンチ上部301およびパンチ下部303を用いて、実施例1-1による固体電解質材料の粉末に、300MPaの圧力が印加された。
圧力が印加されたまま、パンチ上部301およびパンチ下部303が、周波数応答アナライザを搭載したポテンショスタット(Biologic社、VSP-300)に接続された。パンチ上部301は、作用極および電位測定用端子に接続された。パンチ下部303は、対極および参照極に接続された。固体電解質材料のイオン伝導度は、室温において、電気化学インピーダンス測定法により測定された。
図4は、実施例1-1による固体電解質材料のインピーダンス測定により得られたCole-Coleプロットを示すグラフである。
図4において、複素インピーダンスの位相の絶対値が最も小さい測定点でのインピーダンスの実数値が、固体電解質材料のイオン伝導に対する抵抗値とみなされた。当該実数値については、図4において示される矢印Rseを参照せよ。当該抵抗値を用いて、以下の数式(4)に基づいて、イオン伝導度が算出された。

25℃で測定された、実施例1-1による固体電解質材料のイオン伝導度は、2.38×10-4S/cmであった。
[電池の作製]
乾燥アルゴン雰囲気中で、実施例1-1による固体電解質材料および正極活物質であるLi(Ni,Co,Mn)O2(以下、「NCM」という)が、24:76の質量比となるように用意された。これらの材料は、メノウ乳鉢中で混合され、実施例1-1による正極混合物が得られた。
乾燥アルゴン雰囲気中で、実施例1-1による固体電解質材料および正極活物質であるLi(Ni,Co,Mn)O2(以下、「NCM」という)が、24:76の質量比となるように用意された。これらの材料は、メノウ乳鉢中で混合され、実施例1-1による正極混合物が得られた。
9.5mmの内径を有する絶縁性の筒の中で、硫化物固体電解質Li2S-P2S5(以下、「LPS」という)(60mg)、および実施例1-1による固体電解質材料(24mg)が順に積層され、積層体が得られた。この積層体に160MPaの圧力が印加され、固体電解質層が形成された。
次に、固体電解質層に、実施例1-1による固体電解質材料が積層された側から、実施例1-1による正極混合物(9.2mg)が積層され、積層体が得られた。この積層体に360MPaの圧力が印加され、正極が形成された。
次に、LPSから形成された固体電解質層に、金属Li箔(厚さ300μm)が積層され、積層体が得られた。この積層体に80MPaの圧力が印加され、負極が形成された。
正極および負極にステンレス鋼からなる集電体が配置され、当該集電体に集電リードが取り付けられた。
最後に、絶縁性フェルールを用いて、絶縁性の筒の内部が外気雰囲気から遮断され、当該筒の内部が密閉された。このようにして、実施例1-1による電池が得られた。
[充放電測定]
図5は、実施例1-1による電池の初期放電特性を示すグラフである。初期放電特性は、下記の方法により、測定された。

105μA/cm2の電流密度で、正極が負極に対して4.30Vの電圧に達するまで、実施例1-1による電池が充電された。当該電流密度は、電池の理論容量に対して0.05Cレート(すなわち、20時間率)に相当する。充電とは、リチウムイオンがNCMを含む正極からLi金属(すなわち、負極)へ移動する方向に電流が流れる状態のことである。
次に、105μA/cm2の電流密度で、正極が負極に対して1.88Vの電圧に達するまで、実施例1-1による電池が放電された。当該電流密度は、電池の理論容量に対して0.05Cレート(すなわち、20時間率)に相当する。放電とは、LiリチウムイオンがLi金属(すなわち、負極)からNCMを含む正極へ移動する方向に電流が流れる状態のことである。
充放電試験の結果、実施例1-1による電池は、1.03mAhの初期放電容量を有していた。
(実施例1-2から1-5)
[固体電解質材料の作製]
実施例1-2では、乾燥アルゴン雰囲気中で、LiCl、AlCl3、Al2O3、およびSiO2が、LiCl:AlCl3:Al2O3:SiO2=0.251:0.315:0.327:0.108のモル比となるように用意された。

実施例3-2から3-4による固体電解質材料のX線回折パターンが、実施例3-1と同様に測定された。図9は、実施例3-2から3-4による固体電解質材料のX線回折パターンを示すグラフである。観測されたピークの位置は、表7に示される。
(考察)
表1から明らかなように、実施例1-1から1-5による固体電解質材料は、いずれも、室温近傍において、1.0×10-4S/cm以上の高いイオン伝導度を有していた。
表1から明らかなように、実施例1-1から1-5による固体電解質材料は、いずれも、室温近傍において、1.0×10-4S/cm以上の高いイオン伝導度を有していた。
実施例1-1、および実施例1-4から1-5による固体電解質材料は、Cu-Kα線を用いたX線回折測定によって得られるX線回折パターンにおいて、14°以上かつ16°以下、18°以上かつ19°以下、19°超かつ20°以下、26°以上かつ28°以下、28°超かつ30.5°以下、および47°以上かつ50°以下の回折角2θの範囲のそれぞれに少なくとも1つのピークを有し、かつ、30.5°超かつ33°以下の回折角2θの範囲に少なくとも3つのピークを有していた。すなわち、実施例1-1、1-4、および1-5による固体電解質材料は、第1-1結晶相を含有していた。
実施例1-2から1-3による固体電解質材料は、X線回折パターンにおいて、11°以上かつ14°以下、15°以上かつ17°以下、23°超かつ26°以下、26°超かつ28.5°以下、および28.5°超かつ30°以下の回折角2θの範囲のそれぞれに少なくとも1つのピークを有し、かつ、20°以上かつ23°以下、および30.5°以上かつ33°以下の回折角2θの範囲のそれぞれに少なくとも2つのピークを有していた。すなわち、実施例1-2および1-3による固体電解質材料は、第1-2結晶相を含有していた。
表3から明らかなように、実施例2-1から2-4による固体電解質材料は、いずれも、室温近傍において、4×10-7S/cm以上の高いイオン伝導度を有していた。
実施例2-1から2-4を比較例2-1から2-2と比較すると明らかなように、固体電解質材料がMgを含む場合、イオン伝導性が高くなることがわかる。
実施例2-1から2-4による固体電解質材料は、Cu-Kα線を用いたX線回折測定によって得られるX線回折パターンにおいて、28°以上かつ32°以下、33°以上かつ37°以下、および48°以上かつ52°以下の回折角2θの範囲にピークを有していた。すなわち、実施例2-1から2-4による固体電解質材料は、第2-1結晶相を含有していた。
表6から明らかなように、実施例3-1から3-4による固体電解質材料は、いずれも、室温近傍において、1.0×10-5S/cm以上の高いイオン伝導度を有していた。
実施例3-1から3-4を比較例3-1と比較すると明らかなように、固体電解質材料がCrを含む場合、イオン伝導性が高くなることがわかる。
実施例3-1から3-4による固体電解質材料は、Cu-Kα線を用いたX線回折測定によって得られるX線回折パターンにおいて、28°以上かつ32°以下、33°以上かつ37°以下、および48°以上かつ52°以下の回折角2θの範囲にピークを有していた。すなわち、実施例3-1から3-4による固体電解質材料は、第3-1結晶相を含有していた。
実施例3-2による固体電解質材料は、Cu-Kα線を用いたX線回折測定によって得られるX線回折パターンにおいて、23°以上かつ27°以下、32°以上かつ35°以下、35°超かつ38°以下、40°以上かつ44°以下、および53°以上かつ57°以下の回折角2θの範囲にピークを有していた。すなわち、実施例3-2による固体電解質材料は、第3-2結晶相を含有していた。
実施例1-1から1-5、2-1から2-4、および3-1から3-4による固体電解質材料は、硫黄を含有しないため、硫化水素が発生しない。
実施例1-1、2-1、および3-1による固体電解質材料は、正極活物質としてNCMを用いた電池において、良好な放電特性を示した。したがって、本開示の固体電解質材料は、4V以上の電位で充電および放電可能な正極活物質と共に使用されることができる。その結果、本開示の固体電解質材料は、電池のエネルギー密度を向上させることができる。
ハロゲン元素としてF、Br、またはIを用いた場合であっても、上記の傾向は成立する。これらの元素の化学的かつ電気的性質はClによく似ており、Clの一部または全部をこれらの元素に置換可能である。
以上のように、本開示による固体電解質材料は、希土類元素および硫黄を実質的に含有せず、高いイオン伝導度を有し、かつ良好に充電および放電可能な電池を提供するために適切である。
本開示の電池は、例えば、全固体リチウムイオン二次電池などとして、利用されうる。
Claims (32)
- Li、O、およびXを含む固体電解質材料であって、
Xは、F、Cl、Br、およびIからなる群より選択される少なくとも1つであり、
前記固体電解質材料は、以下の(A)から(C)のいずれか1つを満たす:
(A)SiおよびAlをさらに含む。
(B)MgおよびAlをさらに含む。
(C)Crをさらに含む。 - 前記(A)を満たし、
実質的に、Li、Si、Al、O、およびXからなる、
請求項1に記載の固体電解質材料。 - 以下の組成式(1)により表され、
Lia1Sib1Alc1Od1Xe1 ・・・(1)
ここで、a1>0、b1>0、c1>0、d1>0、およびe1>0、が充足される、
請求項2に記載の固体電解質材料。 - 前記組成式(1)において、c1/(a1+c1)>0.4、が充足される、
請求項3に記載の固体電解質材料。 - 前記組成式(1)において、c1/(a1+c1)<0.95、が充足される、

請求項3から5のいずれか一項に記載の固体電解質材料。 - 前記組成式(1)において、e1/(d1+e1)<0.95、が充足される、
請求項3から6のいずれか一項に記載の固体電解質材料。 - 前記組成式(1)において、b1/c1>0.05、が充足される、
請求項3から7のいずれか一項に記載の固体電解質材料。 - 前記組成式(1)において、b1/c1<1.0、が充足される、
請求項3から8のいずれか一項に記載の固体電解質材料。 - 前記固体電解質材料は、第1-1結晶相を含有し、
Cu-Kα線を用いたX線回折測定によって得られる前記第1-1結晶相のX線回折パターンにおいて、14°以上かつ16°以下、18°以上かつ19°以下、19°超かつ20°以下、26°以上かつ28°以下、28°超かつ30.5°以下、および47°以上かつ50°以下の回折角2θの範囲のそれぞれに少なくとも1つのピークが存在し、かつ、
30.5°超かつ33°以下の回折角2θの範囲に少なくとも3つのピークが存在する、
請求項2から9のいずれか一項に記載の固体電解質材料。 - 前記固体電解質材料は、第1-2結晶相を含有し、
Cu-Kα線を用いたX線回折測定によって得られる前記第1-2結晶相のX線回折パターンにおいて、11°以上かつ14°以下、15°以上かつ17°以下、23°超かつ26°以下、26°超かつ28.5°以下、および28.5°超かつ30°以下の回折角2θの範囲のそれぞれに少なくとも1つのピークが存在し、かつ、
20°以上かつ23°以下、および30.5°以上かつ33°以下の回折角2θの範囲のそれぞれに少なくとも2つのピークが存在する、
請求項2から10のいずれか一項に記載の固体電解質材料。 - 前記(B)を満たし、
実質的に、Li、Mg、Al、O、およびXからなる、
請求項1に記載の固体電解質材料。 - 以下の組成式(2)により表され、
