Definitions
- the present disclosure relates to a compression device and a control method for the compression device.
- High-pressure hydrogen gas compressed to several tens of MPa is generally used as fuel gas for fuel cell vehicles.
- This high-pressure hydrogen gas can be obtained, for example, by generating low-pressure hydrogen gas from water using an electrochemical reaction using a water electrolysis device, and then compressing hydrogen to a high pressure using a mechanical compression device.
- Patent Documents 1 and 2 a low-pressure hydrogen-containing gas containing hydrogen as a main component is supplied to the anode, and only hydrogen is electrochemically permeated through the electrolyte membrane, so that at the cathode, Electrochemical compressors have been proposed that can purify and pressurize hydrogen.
- an electrolyte membrane is used in order to compress a low-pressure hydrogen-containing gas, and anode and cathode electrode catalyst layers are provided on both sides of the electrolyte membrane. Further, an anode power feeder and a cathode power feeder are respectively arranged on each of the electrode catalyst layers.
- An electrochemical cell is constructed by holding a laminate of an anode feeder, a cathode feeder, and an electrolyte membrane with an anode separator and a cathode separator.
- the anode separator is provided with a flow path for supplying a low-pressure hydrogen-containing gas from the outside to the anode and for discharging surplus hydrogen-containing gas from the anode to the outside.
- the cathode separator is provided with a channel for leading out the high-pressure cathode gas (hydrogen gas) compressed at the cathode.
- Patent Document 1 when compressing a hydrogen-containing gas in an electrochemical cell, the dew point of the hydrogen-containing gas increases when the cell temperature rises due to the heat generated by the condensation heat of water vapor and the IR loss caused by the resistance of the electrolyte membrane.
- the electrolyte membrane can be appropriately humidified when the system is started.
- Patent Document 2 proposes timely raising the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode or the cathode gas at the cathode during the hydrogen compression operation of the compressor. Specifically, in order to reduce the decrease in the moisture content of the electrolyte membrane caused by the outflow of moisture present in the electrochemical cell due to the hydrogen compression operation, the above gas is intermittently or based on a signal such as a voltage increase. Controls for increasing relative humidity have been proposed.
- An object of the present disclosure is to provide, as an example, a compression device and a method of controlling the compression device that can adjust the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode more appropriately than before.
- a compression device moves hydrogen in a hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode to the cathode through the electrolyte membrane and compresses it by applying a voltage between the anode and the cathode.
- a compressor for adjusting the dew point of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode;
- a second adjuster for adjusting the temperature of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode; and
- a controller that controls at least one of the first regulator and the second regulator based on the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas.
- a method for controlling a compression device is to apply a voltage between an anode and a cathode to move hydrogen in a hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode to the cathode through an electrolyte membrane and compress the hydrogen. wherein at least one of the dew point and temperature of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode is controlled based on the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode.
- the compression device and the control method of the compression device according to one aspect of the present disclosure can adjust the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode more appropriately than before.

- hydrogen (H 2 ) at the anode is protonated and transferred to the cathode, and the protons (H + ) are converted back to hydrogen (H 2 ) at the cathode to pressurize the hydrogen.
- H 2 hydrogen
- the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode of the compressor decreases, drying up of the electrolyte membrane may occur. Then, the proton conductivity of the electrolyte membrane decreases due to dry-up, which may increase the diffusion overvoltage of the electrochemical cell.
- the inventors of the present invention have found that, in the compressor, by appropriately adjusting the dew point or temperature of the anode gas in consideration of the pressure of the anode gas, dry-up or flooding occurs more than conventionally. found to be reduced. This is because the pressure of the anode gas supplied to the compressor is higher than that of the fuel cell, and therefore the influence of the pressure of the anode gas on the relative humidity of the anode gas cannot be ignored. In addition, since the current density of the electrochemical cell of the compressor is higher than that of the fuel cell, the flow rate of the anode gas is also increased accordingly. Therefore, in the compressor, the supply pressure of the anode gas is higher than in the fuel cell.
- the compression device of the first aspect of the present disclosure moves hydrogen in the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode to the cathode through the electrolyte membrane by applying a voltage between the anode and the cathode, and compresses it.
- a first regulator for adjusting the dew point of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode;
- a second regulator for adjusting the temperature of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode;
- a hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode a controller that controls at least one of the first regulator and the second regulator based on the pressure of the gas.
- the compression device of this aspect can adjust the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode more appropriately than before.
- the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas changes.
- the higher the pressure the lower the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas. Therefore, dry-up or flooding may occur unless the dew point and temperature of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode are adjusted in accordance with the pressure change of the hydrogen-containing gas.
- the compression device of this embodiment controls at least one of the first regulator and the second regulator based on the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode, thereby achieving such control.
- the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode can be appropriately adjusted compared to the case where the step is not performed.
- the compression device of this aspect can reduce the occurrence of dry-up of the electrolyte membrane or flooding at the anode as compared with the case where this control is not performed.
- the controller controls the first regulator and is supplied to the anode You may raise the dew point of hydrogen containing gas.
- the dew point of the hydrogen-containing gas at the inlet of the anode rises. Higher than the saturated water vapor pressure of the hydrogen containing gas corresponding to the dew point of the containing gas.
- the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode is represented by the ratio of the amount of water vapor to the amount of saturated water vapor at that temperature. Therefore, as shown in the following formula (1), the relative humidity Rh (%) of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode inlet, which takes into account the pressure P of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode, is hydrogen It is lower than the relative humidity Rh 0 (%) of the contained gas.
- Rh Rh 0 ⁇ (P 0 /(P 0 +P)) (1)
- P 0 is atmospheric pressure (0.1013 MPa).
- Rh 0 is represented by the following general formula (2) with the temperature T0 and the dew point T of the hydrogen-containing gas as variables.
- Rh 0 10.0 (C/(B/T+1.0)-C/(B/T0+1.0)) (2)
- C and B are predetermined constants.
- the compression device of this aspect raises the dew point of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode, thereby preventing the electrolyte membrane from drying up. can be reduced.
- the controller controls the second regulator to The temperature of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to may be reduced.
- the compression device of this aspect reduces the temperature of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode when the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode increases, thereby preventing the electrolyte membrane from drying up. can be reduced.
- the compression device of the fourth aspect of the present disclosure is the compression device of any one of the first to third aspects, when the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode decreases, the controller causes the first regulator to The dew point of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode may be controlled to lower.
- the dew point of the hydrogen-containing gas at the inlet of the anode decreases. It is lower than the saturated water vapor pressure of the hydrogen containing gas corresponding to the dew point of the containing gas.
- the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode is expressed by the ratio of the amount of water vapor to the amount of saturated water vapor at that temperature. Therefore, when controlling the humidification state of the hydrogen-containing gas to be supplied to the anode without considering the pressure change of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode, when the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode decreases, The relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode inlet increases. In this case, for example, since the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas is higher at the anode outlet than at the anode inlet, the higher the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode inlet, the more likely flooding will occur at the anode outlet.
- the compression device of this aspect reduces the dew point of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode, which may cause flooding at the anode outlet. can be reduced.
- the compression device of the fifth aspect of the present disclosure is the compression device of any one of the first to fourth aspects, when the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode decreases, the controller causes the second regulator to The temperature of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode may be controlled to increase.
- the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode decreases.
- the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode inlet then increases. In this case, for example, since the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas is higher at the anode outlet than at the anode inlet, the higher the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode inlet, the more likely flooding will occur at the anode outlet.
- a method for controlling a compression device includes applying a voltage between the anode and the cathode to move hydrogen in the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode to the cathode through the electrolyte membrane, and compressing, wherein at least one of the dew point and temperature of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode is controlled based on the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode;

- the hydrogen (compressed hydrogen) compressed by the cathode power supply 15 is discharged to the outside through gas flow paths provided in the cathode separator 11 at appropriate times. - the hydrogen in the hydrogen-containing gas moves to the cathode CA.
- Approximately 20% of the hydrogen in the hydrogen-containing gas is finally discharged as off-gas at the outlet of the anode AN. That is, the amount of hydrogen in the hydrogen-containing gas introduced into the anode AN decreases sequentially from 100% to about 20% from the anode inlet toward the anode outlet.
- the amount of water in the hydrogen-containing gas is the amount of water that moves from the anode AN to the cathode CA due to the hydrogen entrainment phenomenon and the amount of water that moves from the cathode CA to the anode AN due to the differential pressure between the anode AN and the cathode CA. determined by balance.
- the water distribution within the electrochemical cell depends on the current flowing between the anode AN and cathode CA, the pressure of the compressed hydrogen, and the like.
- the present inventors considered that such an increase in diffusion overvoltage is a phenomenon caused by dry-up of the electrolyte membrane 10 .
- the present inventors have found that the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode AN causes a shift in the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the inlet of the anode. It was presumed that it might be involved in the drying up of the electrolyte membrane 10 .
- the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode AN is represented by the ratio of the amount of water vapor to the amount of saturated water vapor at that temperature. Therefore, as shown in the following formula (1), the relative humidity Rh (%) of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode inlet, which takes into account the pressure P of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode AN, does not take such pressure P into consideration. It is lower than the relative humidity Rh 0 (%) of the hydrogen-containing gas.
- FIG. 3 is a diagram showing an example of actual measurement data of the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas when considering the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode inlet and when not considering it.
- the horizontal axis of FIG. 3 is the pressure P (gauge pressure) of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode inlet
- the vertical axis is the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode inlet.
- P gauge pressure
- FIG. 3 only the pressure P of the hydrogen-containing gas at the anode inlet was changed while the gas volume, temperature (50° C.) and dew point (49° C.) of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode AN were kept constant.
- FIG. 3 also shows data (thin dotted line) of the relative humidity Rh 0 of the hydrogen-containing gas without considering the pressure P of the hydrogen-containing gas at the inlet of the anode.
- the above verification experiment results are data supporting the conjecture that the pressure of the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode AN contributes to the dry-up of the electrolyte membrane 10 by causing a shift in the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas at the inlet of the anode. is. That is, when considering a single test of the electrolyte membrane 10 in which the electrical resistance increases when the relative humidity of the hydrogen-containing gas falls below about 55%, the change in the diffusion overvoltage of the electrochemical cell due to the actual device and the above equation (1) and the calculation result of the relative humidity Rh of the hydrogen-containing gas based on the formula (2) and the change in the relative humidity Rh of the hydrogen-containing gas (FIG. 3) by the actual machine can be understood without contradiction.

Abstract
Description

<制御例1A>
<制御例3A>
