Domaine technique de l’invention Technical field of the invention
État de la technique antérieure The invention relates to the field of systems and devices on board motor vehicles to enable drivers to monitor the driving environment while driving. The invention relates in particular to a method for managing the operation of an apparatus for monitoring the driving environment of a motor vehicle, said apparatus comprising a first screen arranged to the left of the driving position in the passenger compartment of the vehicle , a second screen arranged to the right of the driving position in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, a first camera arranged on the left side of the bodywork of the vehicle to take shots of at least one space located behind the vehicle and on its left side and a second camera arranged on the right side of the body of the vehicle to take shots of at least one space located behind the vehicle and on its right side. The invention also relates to a computer system implementing such a method. The invention applies, in particular, to cars. State of the prior art
It is known that motor vehicles have traditionally been equipped with mirrored rearview mirrors to allow drivers to monitor the driving environment while driving. We also know, in particular from patent application FR3100178, that, in certain current vehicles, devices for monitoring the driving environment made up of so-called digital mirrors use cameras and screens to replace traditional mirror mirrors.
Résumé de l’invention But it turns out that even these modern driving environment monitoring devices do not solve all the problems. In particular, everyone knows that, in reverse, the driver of a vehicle equipped with traditional mirror mirrors must become aware of the driving environment by looking successively at one and the other of the side mirrors, which implies that There are times during which the driver is unable to monitor one or other of the sides of the vehicle, which undeniably creates a risk of accident. And, on this point, modern surveillance systems, in particular the one described in the aforementioned patent application, do not provide any solution. Summary of the invention
The invention aims to overcome this drawback. The object of the invention is in fact to provide a method and a system which contribute to making it possible to minimize the risk of accident during maneuvers performed in reverse. The invention aims in particular to provide a method and a system which allow an apparatus for monitoring the driving environment to provide more ergonomics in terms of monitoring the driving environment during maneuvers carried out in reverse, for in particular to avoid the driver having to successively give up monitoring one or the other of the two sides of the vehicle. By this means, the invention aims to provide a method and a system which contribute to improving driving safety.
These objects are achieved, according to a first object of the invention, by means of a management method, by a computer system on board a motor vehicle, of the operation of a device for monitoring the driving environment of the vehicle, said apparatus comprising a first screen arranged to the left of the driving position in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, a second screen arranged to the right of the driving position in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, a first camera arranged on the left side of the body of the vehicle to take shots of at least one space located behind the vehicle and on its left side and a second camera arranged on the right side of the body of the vehicle to take shots of at least one space located behind the vehicle and on its right side, the method comprising the steps of: i) determining if the vehicle's gear selector is engaged in the reverse position; and, where it is established that this is the case, ii) causing the broadcasting of a first image created from data generated by the first camera on a first portion of each of the screens, and, simultaneously, the broadcasting of a second image created from data generated by the second camera on a second portion of each of the screens.

According to the invention, a system 100 for managing the operation of an apparatus for monitoring the driving environment of a motor vehicle is a computer system, represented in FIG. 1, which comprises an information processing unit 101 , comprising one or more processors, a data storage medium 102 and an input and output interface 103 allowing the reception and transmission of data. According to certain embodiments, the system 100 according to the invention is embedded in a motor vehicle (eg car, bus, truck, etc.) and it is hosted on one or more of the computers, electronic control units or other telematics boxes of the vehicle. According to other embodiments, the system 100 according to the invention is hosted on a computer of a motor vehicle and it interacts through its input and output interface 103 with a computer of a monitoring device of the driving environment of a motor vehicle. According to the preferred embodiment, the system 100 according to the invention forms an integral part of a computer of an apparatus for monitoring the driving environment of a motor vehicle. Consequently, whatever the embodiment of the invention, the system 100 according to the invention is able to interact, through its input and output interface 103, with the components which, conventionally , form an apparatus for monitoring the driving environment of a motor vehicle. According to the invention, these components include, at least, a first screen arranged to the left of the driving position in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, a second screen arranged to the right of the driving position in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, a first camera arranged on the left side of the body of the vehicle to take shots of at least one space located behind the vehicle and on its left side and a second camera arranged on the right side of the body of the vehicle to take shots at least one space located behind the vehicle and on its right side. Thus, by interacting with or being an integral part of such equipment, the system 100 according to the invention is advantageously able to cause the broadcasting of an image created from data generated by a camera on a portion of each of the screens.
In addition, to implement certain steps of the method according to the invention described below, the system 100 according to the invention is provided with hardware elements (eg CAN network connectors, Ethernet, etc.) and dedicated software for interacting with a gear selector of a motor vehicle. Thus, thanks to these means, the system 100 according to the invention is advantageously able to determine whether the vehicle speed selector is engaged in the reverse position. According to the invention, all the elements described above therefore contribute to enabling the system 100 according to the invention to implement a method for managing the operation of a device for monitoring the driving environment of the vehicle, such as described below in conjunction with Figures 2-4.
According to a first step 201, the system 100 according to the invention determines whether the vehicle gear selector is engaged in the reverse position. To do this, the system 100 according to the invention preferentially interacts with the vehicle gear selector to determine the position in which the gear selector is engaged. And, when it establishes that the vehicle gear selector is engaged in the reverse position, the system 100 according to the invention performs the next step of the method according to the invention described below.
According to a second step 202, the system 100 according to the invention causes the broadcasting of a first image created from data generated by the first camera on a first portion of each of the screens, and, simultaneously, the broadcasting of a second image created from data generated by the second camera on a second portion of each of the screens. Preferably, the first portion occupies the left half of each of the screens and the second portion occupies the right half of each of the screens (FIG. 3). Alternatively, the first portion is embedded within the second portion on the second screen and the second portion is embedded within the first portion on the first screen (FIG. 4), the first portion is juxtaposed with the second portion or the first and/or the second portion occupies half of each of the screens. Thus, thanks to the method and to the system according to the invention described above, a solution exists to allow an apparatus for monitoring the driving environment of a motor vehicle to inform the user in a more ergonomic manner when reverse maneuvers. Indeed, the method and the system according to the invention contribute in particular to, during maneuvers carried out in reverse, preventing the driver from having to successively give up monitoring one or the other of the two sides of the vehicle. By this means, the method and the system according to the invention make it possible to improve driving safety.
