- the positional relationship between the fluid passage 109 of the swirling flow-forming body 1 and the discharge passage 24 of the discharge straightening cover 2 in plan view is not particularly important.
- the supplied air passes through the communication passage 108, the annular passage 107 and the fluid passage 109 and is discharged into the recess 103.
- the air discharged into the recess 103 is straightened by the inner peripheral surface 110 of the recess 103 to form a swirling flow inside the recess 103 (see arrows A1 and A2 in FIG. 9).
- the formed swirling flow reduces the density of the air in the center of the recess 103 due to its centrifugal force.
- the article to be conveyed restricts the inflow of external air into the recess 103 , further reducing the density of the air in the center of the recess 103 . As a result, negative pressure is generated in the center of the recess 103 .
- the generated negative pressure sucks the transported object inside the skirt 3 .
- the sucked object is fixed in contact with the lower opening edge of the cylindrical portion 32 of the skirt 3 .
- the generated negative pressure sucks the skirt body 31 covering the transported object.

- the object to be conveyed shown in the figure is a comb-shaped piece of apple AP.
- the apple piece AP is conveyed while being wrapped in the skirt body 31 .
- a skirt body 31 enveloping the apple piece AP deforms following the shape of the apple piece AP and is in close contact with the apple piece AP.
- the air that has formed the swirl flow in the recess 103 flows out of the recess 103 along the inclined surface 104 of the swirl flow-forming body 1 and flows into the discharge straightening cover 2 .
- the air that has flowed into the discharge straightening cover 2 is discharged from the discharge passage 24 while being straightened by the inner peripheral surface 28 of the discharge straightening cover 2 (see arrows A3 and A4 in FIG. 12).
- the inventor conducted an experiment to compare the performance of the conveying device 100 and the suction device 10 according to the background art described above. According to this experiment, when the air flow rate was 25 slm, the negative pressure of the conveying device 100 was approximately 1.9 times the negative pressure of the suction device 10 . Further, when the air flow rate was 50 slm, the negative pressure of the conveying device 100 was approximately 1.5 times the negative pressure of the suction device 10 .
- the structure of the discharge regulating cover 2 is considered to be the reason why the conveying device 100 has a higher negative pressure than the suction device 10 .
- the discharge straightening cover 2 has a set of discharge passages 24 through which air is discharged.
- the case 12 of the suction device 10 has an annular opening formed in its upper surface, and air is discharged over the entire circumference of this opening. That is, when the discharge straightening cover 2 and the case 12 are compared, the discharge straightening cover 2 has a narrower path for discharging air. Therefore, the exhaust regulating cover 2 restricts the inflow of external air into the recess 103 more than the suction device 10 . As a result, the negative pressure in the concave portion 103 is higher in the discharge straightening cover 2 than in the suction device 10 .
- skirt 3 Another factor is the presence of skirt 3. As described above, the skirt main body 31 of the skirt 3 is deformed following the shape of the transported object and comes into close contact with the transported object. The skirt body 31 in close contact with the object to be conveyed further restricts the inflow of external air into the recess 103 . As a result, the negative pressure inside the recess 103 increases.

- the shape of the skirt main body 31 may be deformed according to the shape of the transported object. For example, when the transported object has a left-right asymmetric shape, the skirt body 31 may have a left-right asymmetric shape.
- the skirt body 31 does not necessarily have to be long enough to wrap the entire transported object.
- the length may be such that it can wrap only a part of the transported object.
- the skirt 3 may be attached to the discharge regulating cover 2 by a method other than the method of engaging the concave portion 33 of the skirt 3 with the convex portion 27 of the discharge regulating cover 2 .
