- the printer 20 accesses the router 2 via the external communication unit 22 by wireless communication conforming to the Wi-Fi (registered trademark) communication standard using the SSID and encryption key input by the user. 2 (S23). This allows the printer 20 to communicate with the mobile terminal device 10 and the server 30 via the external communication unit 22 and the router 2 .
- Wi-Fi registered trademark
- the printer 20 executes reading from the IC card 41 (S25).
- the printer 20 reads the card ID from the IC card 41 attached to the attachment portion 28 .
- the printer 20 transmits the read card ID and the device identification information 27C of its own device to the server 30 (S27).
- the printer storage unit 27 stores information (URL and global IP address) of the access destination of the vendor's server 30 .
- the printer 20 accesses the server 30 based on the access destination information stored in advance in the printer storage unit 27, and transmits the card ID and the like (S27). Note that the printer 20 may inquire of the mobile terminal device 10 or the like about the information of the access destination.
- the server 30 When the server 30 receives the information of S27 from the printer 20, it determines whether the IC card 41 and the printer 20 are genuine based on the received information (S29). If the card ID and device identification information 27C received in S27 are registered in the identification information data 33C, the server 30 determines that the IC card 41 and printer 20 are genuine (S29: YES). If one of the card ID and device identification information 27C received in S27 is not registered in the identification information data 33C, the server 30 determines that the product is not genuine (S29: NO). When the server 30 executes the genuine product determination process in S29, the server 30 notifies the printer 20 of the result of the determination of the genuine product, that is, information on whether or not the product is registered in the identification information data 33C (S31).
- the method of determining whether or not the product is genuine is not limited to the method using the identification information data 33C described above.
- the server 30 controls so that one IC card 41 (card ID) is associated with one printer 20 .
- the server 30 may determine that the card is not genuine.
- the server 30 may control one IC card 41 so that one printer 20 whose activation information is in the ON state. If the card ID received in S27 is already associated with another printer 20 in the management DB 33B and the associated activation information is ON, the server 30 may determine that the card is not a genuine product. This makes it possible to prevent the use of the forged IC card 41 or the like.
- the server 30 may transmit the information received in S27 to the vendor or the like and execute processing to inquire whether or not the information is registered. Confirmation results may be accepted.
- the printer 20 and the IC card 41 may be associated in advance and registered in the management DB 33B or the like.
- the vendor bundles the printer 20 and the IC card 41 associated with the device identification information 27C and the card ID and ships them to the user. Accordingly, if the card ID and the device identification information 27C received in S27 are associated and registered in the management DB 33B, the server 30 may determine that the product is genuine (S29: YES). Alternatively, the server 30 may receive only one of the card ID and the device identification information 27C from the printer 20 and determine whether or not the product is genuine.
- a device other than the server 30, for example, the printer 20, may determine whether or not the product is genuine.
- the card ID of the IC card 41 pre-associated with the printer 20 is stored in the printer storage unit 27 .
- the printer 20 After reading the card ID of the IC card 41 in S25 of FIG. 5, the printer 20 combines the read card ID with the card ID (pre-associated card ID) stored in the printer storage unit 27, as shown in S33 of FIG. ID) match, it may be determined that the proper IC card 41 has been inserted, and the processes after S37, which will be described later, may be executed.
- the initial introduction is, for example, preparation processing for executing printing by the printing unit 23 .
- an operation of causing the ink in the ink containing portion 23A to flow to the inkjet head 23C can be adopted. More specifically, the valve 23H (see FIG. 1) of the printer 20 is closed as shipped from the vendor and prior to performing the initial installation.
- the inkjet head 23C side is filled with the shipping liquid.
- the shipping liquid is, for example, a liquid that is filled in the ink flow path in a state of being shipped from the factory, and that maintains the state of the flow path such as a tube.
- the printer 20 opens the valve 23H and allows ink to flow from the ink containing portion 23A to the inkjet head 23C.
- the inkjet head 23C is driven to discharge the shipping liquid until the liquid filled in the flow path of the inkjet head 23C is replaced with the ink. Things are mentioned.
- the maintenance unit 23G In addition to driving the inkjet head 23C, for example, the maintenance unit 23G (see FIG.
- the shipping liquid may be discharged from the nozzles of the inkjet head 23C by sucking the shipping liquid. Also, a printing operation (test printing) for discharging the shipping liquid from the inkjet head 23C may be performed.
- the printer 20 may execute a process of checking for clogging of the nozzles of the inkjet head 23C or test printing as an initial introduction. Further, when the printing unit 23 is configured to print by the electrophotographic method, the printer 20 performs, as an initial introduction, an operation of rotating the toner stirring member in the toner storage unit for a certain period of time, that is, rotating the toner cartridge. Alternatively, the toner may be agitated and supplied to the developing roller.
- the printer 20 fills the inkjet head 23C with ink from the ink container 23A and ejects the ink (including the shipping liquid) from the inkjet head 23C. After starting ejection, the printer 20 determines whether ejection has been performed for a predetermined time (S39). The printer 20 continues ejecting ink until the predetermined time elapses (S39: NO). When the predetermined time has passed (S39: YES), the printer 20 terminates ejection of ink, that is, terminates the initial introduction (S41).
- the printer 20 After completing the initial installation in S37, S39, and S41, the printer 20 transmits the result of the initial installation to the server 30 (S43). For example, the printer 20 detects the ejection amount of ink by the ejection amount detection unit 23F in the initial introduction of ejecting ink after S37, and transmits the detected ejection amount to the server 30 as the result of the initial introduction. For example, after the printer 20 starts ejection, the increase in the ejection amount detected by the ejection amount detection unit 23F decreases and the ejection amount at the time when the amount of change stabilizes is transmitted to the server 30 as a result of the initial introduction. .
- the printer 20 may detect the discharge amount per unit time after a preset time elapses, for example, the work time required to replace the shipping liquid with the ink, and transmit the detected amount to the server 30 . . Further, the printer 20 may transmit the total ejection amount detected during execution of the initial introduction to the server 30 as the result of the initial introduction. As will be described later, the server 30 determines whether the initial introduction has been completed normally based on the ejection amount received from the printer 20 . Therefore, the predetermined time determined in S39 is the time during which the ejection amount in the initial introduction can be detected. It's time.
- the printer 20 transmits the card ID and device identification information 27C to the server 30 together with the results of the initial installation.
- the server 30 may transmit only one of the device identification information and the card ID to the server 30 .
- the server 30 determines whether or not the result of the initial installation is normal for the printer 20 that is the transmission source (S45). For example, when the received discharge amount is within the range of a predetermined threshold value, the server 30 determines that the initial introduction has been completed normally (S45: YES).
- the lower limit value that defines the range used in the determination process of S45 is, for example, the lower limit of the discharge amount that can detect a decrease in the discharge amount when the discharge amount is reduced due to clogging of the tube or nozzle.
- the upper limit value is the upper limit of the discharge amount that can detect an increase in the discharge amount when the ink is excessively discharged from the inkjet head 23C due to, for example, damage to the nozzles. Therefore, the range of the threshold value can be set to the range of the ejection amount normally ejected from the inkjet head 23C without causing the abnormality described above. Note that the server 30 may determine the ejection amount using only the lower limit value or the upper limit value.
- the server 30 determines in S45 that the initial installation has been completed normally (S45: YES), it notifies the printer 20 of the determination result of the normal completion (S47). Further, when the received discharge amount is outside the range of the predetermined threshold value, the server 30 determines that the initial introduction has not been completed normally (S45: NO), and informs the printer 20 (S47).
- the content of the initial installation process and the method of determining whether the initial installation was completed normally are not limited to the above methods.
- the printer 20 performs test printing after filling the inkjet head 23C with ink.
- the printer 20 displays on the printer operation unit 24 a message requesting scanning of the printed test page.
- the user confirms the message and scans the test page with the printer 20 scanner.
- the printer 20 transmits the scanned image data of the test page to the server 30 .
- the user may capture an image of the test page with the camera 16 of the mobile terminal device 10 and transmit the captured image data to the server 30 .
- the server 30 analyzes the image data received from the printer 20 or the mobile terminal device 10 to determine whether the initial installation has been completed normally. For the test pattern printed on the test page, the server 30 determines, for example, if the desired test pattern is formed without missing dots, dot misalignment, or the like, or if the dot formation is successful at a certain rate or more. In this case, it may be determined that the initial installation was completed normally. Further, the printer 20 and the server 30 may use both the method of determining the ink ejection amount and the method of analyzing the image data to determine whether the initial installation has been completed normally.
- the initial installation and the process of confirming it include, for example, the process of confirming whether or not the touch panel of the printer operation unit 24 is normally displayed, and the setting information such as clock information can be received and displayed normally on the touch panel. It may be a process of confirming whether or not (whether the setting can be reflected) or not. Also, the initial introduction and confirmation processing may be processing for confirming whether or not physical mechanisms such as the transport roller and the inkjet head 23C operate normally and the paper can be transported and printed.
- a device other than the server 30, for example, the printer 20, may determine whether the result of the initial installation is normal. For example, the printer 20 may notify the user or the server 30 of an error or the like when the ejection amount detected at the initial installation is out of the range of the threshold. Further, the printer 20 may notify the server 30 that the initial introduction has been completed normally when the ejection amount detected in the initial introduction is within the range of the threshold value. Then, when the printer 20 receives a response to the notification from the server 30, the printer 20 may execute the processes after S53 described later (such as writing the number of printable sheets).
- the printer 20 enters a print executable state in which the printing unit 23 can print within the range of the number of printable sheets.
- the printer 20 uses the number of printable sheets stored in the printer storage unit 27 to execute print processing and the like. For example, when the printer 20 completes printing based on the print command received from the mobile terminal device 10, the printer 20 subtracts the number of printed sheets (hereinafter sometimes referred to as the number of printed sheets) from the number of printable sheets in the printer storage unit 27. . In addition, the printer 20 updates the information on the number of printable sheets in the IC card 41 with the number of printable sheets after the subtraction. In addition, the printer 20 notifies the server 30 of information on the number of printable sheets after subtraction. Based on the number of printable sheets received from the printer 20, the server 30 synchronizes the number of printable sheets by updating the number of printable sheets associated with the device identification information 27C of the printer 20 of the transmission source in the management DB 33B. Run.
- S53 and S54 are an example of the migration process of the present application.
- the printer 20 may have a configuration that does not use activation information. For example, the printer 20 may transition to the print ready state simply by executing S53 and writing the number of printable sheets in the printer storage unit 27 . That is, the printer 20 may complete the migration process of the present application by executing S53 and writing the number of printable sheets. In this case, the printer 20 may be configured not to execute S54. Also, the server 30 does not need to manage activation information. In addition, the printer 20 may read the number of printable sheets from the IC card 41 as appropriate without writing it from the IC card 41 to the printer storage unit 27 .
- the printer 20 reads the number of printable sheets from the IC card 41 and executes printing before starting print processing. When printing is completed, the printer 20 may subtract the number of printed sheets from the number of printed sheets of the IC card 41 and update the number of printed sheets of the IC card 41 with the subtracted value.
- the number of printable sheets may be set to zero.
- the printer 20 may write zero sheets to the printer storage unit 27 .
- the printer 20 may charge the IC card 41 .
- the printer 20 may write the predetermined number of printable sheets in the IC card 41 when receiving the determination result of normal completion from the server 30 in S47.
- the printer 20 After executing S54, the printer 20 notifies the user that printing is ready (S55). For example, the printer 20 may display a message such as "Ready to execute printing" on the printer operation unit 24 to inform the user that printing is ready. Alternatively, the printer 20 may turn on or off a specific indicator lamp to notify that it is ready for printing.
- the printer 20 After executing S55, the printer 20 transmits the printer information to the server 30 (S57).
- the printer 20 transmits to the server 30, for example, as printer information, the card ID, the number of printable sheets, activation information, the device identification information 27C, and the remaining ink amount information detected by the remaining ink amount detecting section 23E.

- the server 30 newly registers the card ID and the like received from the printer 20 in the management DB 33B (S59). As a result, the information of the printer 20 for which the initial installation has been successfully completed is registered in the management DB 33B.
- the server 30 may execute the registration in the management DB 33B as appropriate without collectively executing the registration in S59.
- the server 30 registers the card ID and the device identification information 27C in the management DB 33B after judging that the product is genuine in S29, and registers the activation information (ON state) in the management DB 33B after judging that the product is normally completed in S45.
- the server 30 may retain information up to the point of interruption, and restart the setup process from the point at which it was interrupted during subsequent setup processes. The process may be restarted from (judgment of genuine product in S29).
- the server 30 may perform processing for registering user information in the management DB 33B in association with the information of the printer 20. For example, if the printer 20 is accessed from the mobile terminal device 10 during or after the setup processing of FIGS. good. Upon receiving a notification requesting user registration from the printer 20 , the mobile terminal device 10 receives user information from the user via the operation display unit 14 . This user information is, for example, information about the user who uses the printer 20, and includes the user's name, address, age, sex, occupation, contact e-mail address, payment method, and the like. The mobile terminal device 10 notifies the server 30 of, for example, the received user information, the device identification information 27C of the printer 20, and the card ID. As a result, the server 30 can register the user information in the management DB 33B in association with the device identification information 27C of the printer 20 and the like.

- the printer 20 of the first embodiment executes initial installation for executing the printing operation by the printing unit 23 in an initial state in which the printing operation by the printing unit 23 is impossible (S37), and the initial installation is normal.
- S49 When the printer 20 determines that the initial installation has been completed normally (S49: YES), the printer 20 shifts from the initial state to the print executable state (S53, S54). ). According to this, after the initial installation is completed normally, the state is shifted to the print ready state. Therefore, when the initial installation fails, the process of writing the number of printable sheets to the printer storage unit 27 and changing the activation information 27E to the ON state is not executed.

Abstract
