Description
本技術は、二次電池に関する。
近年、携帯電話、スマートフォン、又はウェアラブル端末等の電子機器の普及が進んでいる。そのため、これらの電子機器にて電源として採用されている二次電池の重要性が高まっている。
電子機器の高性能化に伴い、二次電池のさらなる高容量化が求められるようになっている。そのため、二次電池では、正極、負極、セパレータ、及び電解液に加えて、正極、負極、及びセパレータにて構成される電極体を収容する外装体についても様々な開発が進められている(例えば、特許文献1~9参照)。
このような二次電池では、外装体の内部体積を増加させ、外装体に収容可能な電池素子の体積を増加させることで、さらなる高容量化を実現することが望まれる。
よって、さらなる高容量化が可能である二次電池が望まれている。
本技術の一実施形態に係る二次電池は、電池素子と、第1底部、第1側壁部および第1開口部を有する器状構造を有し、電池素子を収容する第1収容部材と、第2底部、第2側壁部および第2開口部を有する器状構造を有し、第2底部が第1開口部に対向すると共に、第2側壁部が第1側壁部に外側から結合された第2収容部材と、第1側壁部及び第2側壁部の間に少なくとも挟持され、第1収容部材と第2収容部材とを接着する接着部材とを備える。
本技術の一実施形態に係る二次電池によれば、電池素子を収容する器状構造の第1収容部材と、第1収容部材と対向し、外側から第1収容部材と結合された器状構造の第2収容部材とが第1収容部材及び第2収容部材の間に挟持された接着部材にて接着される。これにより、本実施形態に係る二次電池は、第1収容部材及び第2収容部材にて形成される内部空間をより大きくすることができるため、内部空間に収容される電池素子の体積をより大きくすることができる。したがって、本実施形態に係る二次電池は、高容量化を実現することが可能である。
なお、本技術の効果は、必ずしもここで説明された効果に限定されるわけではなく、後述する本技術に関連する一連の効果のうちのいずれの効果でもよい。
以下、本技術における実施形態について、図面を参照して詳細に説明する。以下で説明する実施形態は本技術の一具体例であって、本技術が以下の態様に限定されるわけではない。また、本技術の各構成要素の配置、寸法、及び寸法比等についても、各図に示す様態に限定されるものではない。

<1.二次電池>
まず、図1を参照して、本技術の一実施形態に係る二次電池に関して説明する。

ここで説明する二次電池は、電極反応物質の吸蔵放出を利用して電池容量を得る二次電池であり、正極、負極および電解液を備える。二次電池では、充電途中に負極の表面に電極反応物質が析出することを防止するために、負極の充電容量は、正極の放電容量よりも大きくなっている。すなわち、負極の単位面積当たりの電気化学容量は、正極の単位面積当たりの電気化学容量よりも大きくなっている。
電極反応物質は、特に限定されないが、アルカリ金属およびアルカリ土類金属などの軽金属である。アルカリ金属は、リチウム、ナトリウムおよびカリウムなどである。アルカリ土類金属は、ベリリウム、マグネシウムおよびカルシウムなどである。
以下では、電極反応物質がリチウムである場合を例に挙げる。リチウムの吸蔵放出を利用して電池容量を得る二次電池は、いわゆるリチウムイオン二次電池である。リチウムイオン二次電池では、リチウムがイオン状態で吸蔵および放出される。
また、本実施形態に係る二次電池は、扁平かつ柱状の形状を有する。具体的には、二次電池は、互いに対向する一対の底部と、該一対の底部を結ぶ側壁部とを有し、底部の外径に対して高さが小さくなるような形状を有する。このような二次電池は、いわゆるコイン型の二次電池、及びボタン型の二次電池などを含む。
<1-1.全体構成>
図1は、二次電池の断面構成を示す模式的な縦断面図である。図1に示すように、二次電池は、電池素子20と、容器部材11と、蓋部材12と、接着部材30とを備える。

電池素子20は、充放電反応を行う二次電池の主要要素である。図示しないが、電池素子20は、セパレータを介して正極及び負極が対向していると共に正極、負極及びセパレータに電解液が含浸されている電極体である。具体的には、電極体は、セパレータを介して正極及び負極が巻回されている巻回型の電極体であってもよく、セパレータを介して正極及び負極が互いに積層されている積層型の電極体であってもよい。電池素子20を構成する正極、負極、セパレータ、及び電解液の具体的構成については、後述する。
容器部材11は、第1底部11A、第1側壁部11B、及び第1開口部11Kを有する器状構造を備え、電池素子20を収容する第1収容部材である。具体的には、容器部材11は、第1側壁部11Bが第1底部11Aの外縁から上方に全周に亘って直立し、上面が第1開口部11Kとして開口した構造を有する。すなわち、容器部材11は、凹型の断面形状を有してもよい。なお、第1底部11Aの平面形状は、円形、楕円形、円形の一部を切り出した半円形若しくは扇形、又は多角形のいずれであってもよい。
蓋部材12は、第2底部12A、第2側壁部12B、及び第2開口部12Kを有する器状構造を備える第2収容部材である。具体的には、蓋部材12は、第2側壁部12Bが第2底部12Aの外縁から上方に全周に亘って直立し、上面が第2開口部12Kとして開口した構造を有する。すなわち、蓋部材12は、凹型の断面形状を有してもよい。
蓋部材12は、第2底部12Aが第1開口部11Kに対向すると共に、第2側壁部12Bが第1側壁部11Bに外側から接着部材30を介して結合されることで、容器部材11に取り付けられる。これにより、容器部材11及び蓋部材12は、第1底部11A、第1側壁部11B、及び第2底部12Aによって、電池素子20が収容される空間を形成することができる。
すなわち、第2底部12Aの平面形状は、第1底部11Aの平面形状と相似となり、かつ第1底部11Aの平面形状よりも大きくなるように設けられる。これにより、容器部材11及び蓋部材12は、第1開口部11Kと第2開口部12Kとを互いに対向させながら嵌合することで、電池素子20を収容する空間を内部に形成することができる。
ここで、容器部材11、及び蓋部材12により画定される立体形状は、扁平かつ柱状の立体形状である。扁平かつ柱状の立体形状とは、上記したように、互いに略平行に対向する一対の底部と、該一対の底部を結ぶ側壁とを有し、底部の外径に対して底部間の距離(すなわち、高さ)が小さい立体形状である。一例を挙げると、二次電池の全体の立体形状は、扁平な円柱形状であってもよい。
なお、容器部材11及び蓋部材12の一方は、電池素子20の負極と電気的に接続されることで負極端子として機能し、容器部材11及び蓋部材12の他方は、電池素子20の正極と電気的に接続されることで正極端子として機能する。
容器部材11及び蓋部材12の各々は、耐腐食性が良好なFe-Cr系又はFe-Cr-Ni系のステンレス鋼材料(一例を挙げると、JIS規格における記号SUS304、SUS305、又はSUS430等のステンレス鋼材料)を含んでもよい。
ただし、充電状態で4.0Vを超える正極単極電位の正極と電気的に接続された容器部材11又は蓋部材12では、ステンレス鋼材料から鉄、クロム、又はニッケル等のイオンが電解液中に溶出することで、ステンレス鋼の耐腐食性が低下することがあり得る。そのため、正極と電気的に接続された容器部材11又は蓋部材12の電池素子20及び電解液と対向する面は、高電位による耐腐食性の低下が生じにくいアルミニウムなどの金属を含むことが好ましい。すなわち、容器部材11又は蓋部材12は、器状構造の内側にアルミニウムを含む層を有していることが好ましい。具体的には、正極と電気的に接続された容器部材11又は蓋部材12は、ステンレス鋼の一面にアルミニウムを積層又は蒸着した材料により構成されてもよく、ステンレス鋼とアルミニウムとを接合したクラッド材により構成されてもよい。なお、正極と電気的に接続された容器部材11又は蓋部材12は、全体をアルミニウムにて構成されてもよいことは言うまでもない。
接着部材30は、接着性を有する有機絶縁体を含み、第1側壁部11B及び第2側壁部12Bの間に挟持されて容器部材11と蓋部材12とを接着する。具体的には、接着部材30は、第1側壁部11Bと第2側壁部12Bとの間、及び第1側壁部11Bの先端と第2底部12Aとの間に鉤状の断面形状を有するように設けられてもよい。接着部材30は、第1側壁部11Bの端部外側に全周に亘って設けられることで、第1側壁部11Bと第2側壁部12Bとを全周に亘って接着する。これにより、接着部材30は、容器部材11と蓋部材12との間を電気的に絶縁しつつ、容器部材11及び蓋部材12にて形成される内部空間を密閉することができる。
接着部材30は、接着性を有する有機絶縁体として、光、熱、又は超音波等の刺激によって硬化する硬化性樹脂を含んでもよい。接着部材30は、接着性を有する有機絶縁体を含むことによって、容器部材11と蓋部材12との間を電気的に絶縁しつつ、容器部材11と蓋部材12とを接着することができる。具体的には、接着部材30は、エポキシ系樹脂、又はアクリル系樹脂などの熱硬化性又は光硬化性のエラストマー樹脂を含んでもよい。また、接着部材30は、ポリプロピレン(PP)、テトラフルオロエチレン・パーフルオロアルキルビニルエーテル共重合体(PFA)、ポリブチレンテレフタレート(PBT)、ポリフェニレンサルファイド(PPS)およびポリイミド(PI)などのエラストマー樹脂を含んでもよい。
<1-2.電池素子の構成>

[正極]
正極は、正極集電体と、正極集電体の両面又は片面に設けられた正極活物質層とを含む。

正極集電体は、アルミニウム、ニッケル、又はステンレス鋼などの導電性材料のうちのいずれか1種又は2種以上を含む。正極集電体は、単層構造であってもよく、多層構造であってもよい。
正極活物質層は、リチウムを吸蔵及び放出可能な正極活物質を1種又は2種以上含む。正極活物質は、リチウム含有複合酸化物、又はリチウム含有リン酸化合物などのリチウム含有化合物であってもよい。リチウム含有複合酸化物は、リチウムと、1種又は2種以上の他元素とを構成元素として含む酸化物であり、層状岩塩型、又はスピネル型などのいずれかの結晶構造を有する酸化物である。リチウム含有リン酸化合物は、リチウムと、1種又は2種以上の他元素とを構成元素として含むリン酸化合物であり、オリビン型などの結晶構造を有する化合物である。上記の他元素とは、リチウム以外の任意の元素の1種類又は2種類以上である。他元素とは、好ましくは長周期型周期表における2族~15族に属する元素であり、より好ましくはニッケル(Ni)、コバルト(Co)、マンガン(Mn)、又は鉄(Fe)のいずれか1つ以上である。これらの他元素を含むリチウム含有化合物が正極活物質として用いられることにより、電池素子20は、より高い電圧を発生させることができる。
ただし、正極活物質は、酸化チタン、酸化バナジウム、又は二酸化マンガンなどの酸化物であってもよく、二硫化チタン又は硫化モリブデンなどの二硫化物であってもよく、セレン化ニオブなどのカルコゲン化物であってもよく、硫黄、ポリアニリン、又はポリチオフェンなどの導電性高分子であってもよい。
また、正極活物質層は、結着材、又は導電材のいずれか1つ以上をさらに含んでもよい。結着材は、スチレンブタジエン系ゴム、フッ素系ゴム、又はエチレンプロピレンジエン合成ゴムなどの合成ゴムであってもよく、ポリフッ化ビニリデン、又はポリイミドなどの高分子化合物のいずれか1種又は2種以上であってもよい。導電材は、黒鉛、カーボンブラック、アセチレンブラック、又はケッチェンブラックなどの炭素材料の1種又は2種以上を含んでもよく、金属材料又は導電性高分子などを含んでもよい。
[負極]
負極は、負極集電体と、負極集電体の両面又は片面に設けられた負極活物質層とを含む。

負極活物質層は、リチウムを吸蔵及び放出可能な負極活物質を1種又は2種以上含む。負極活物質は、炭素材料、金属系材料、又は炭素材料と金属系材料との混合物であってもよい。炭素材料は、易黒鉛化性炭素、難黒鉛化性炭素、又は黒鉛などである。具体的には、炭素材料は、熱分解炭素類、コークス類、ガラス状炭素繊維、有機高分子化合物焼成体、活性炭、カーボンブラック類、低結晶性炭素、又は非晶質炭素などである。炭素材料の形状は、繊維状、球状、粒状、又は鱗片状などである。
金属系材料は、金属元素又は半金属元素のいずれか1種又は2種以上を構成元素として含む材料である。金属系材料は、単体、合金、又は化合物であってもよく、これらの2種以上の混合物であってもよい。また、金属系材料は、2種以上の金属元素からなる材料に加えて、1種又は2種以上の金属元素と1種又は2種以上の半金属元素とからなる材料も含んでもよい。さらに、金属系材料は、1種又は2種以上の非金属元素を構成元素として含んでもよい。金属系材料の組織は、固溶体、共晶(共融混合物)、金属間化合物、又はこれらの2種以上の共存物などである。
金属系材料に含まれる金属元素又は半金属元素は、リチウムと合金を形成可能な元素である。金属系材料に含まれる金属元素又は半金属元素は、マグネシウム(Mg)、ホウ素(B)、アルミニウム(Al)、ガリウム(Ga)、インジウム(In)、ケイ素(Si)、ゲルマニウム(Ge)、スズ(Sn)、鉛(Pb)、ビスマス(Bi)、カドミウム(Cd)、銀(Ag)、亜鉛(Zn)、ハフニウム(Hf)、ジルコニウム(Zr)、イットリウム(Y)、パラジウム(Pd)、又は白金(Pt)などである。
また、負極活物質層は、結着材、又は導電材のいずれか1つ以上をさらに含んでもよい。結着材は、スチレンブタジエン系ゴム、フッ素系ゴム、又はエチレンプロピレンジエン合成ゴムなどの合成ゴムであってもよく、ポリフッ化ビニリデン、又はポリイミドなどの高分子化合物のいずれか1種又は2種以上であってもよい。導電材は、黒鉛、カーボンブラック、アセチレンブラック、又はケッチェンブラックなどの炭素材料の1種又は2種以上を含んでもよく、金属材料又は導電性高分子などを含んでもよい。
[セパレータ]
セパレータは、正極と負極との間に介在し、リチウムイオンを通過させつつ、正極及び負極の接触による短絡を防止する多孔質膜である。具体的には、セパレータは、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン、ポリプロピレン、又はポリエチレンなどの合成樹脂で構成されてもよく、セラミックなどで構成されてもよい。セパレータは、単層膜であってもよく、2種以上の多孔質膜を積層した多層膜であってもよい。
セパレータは、正極と負極との間に介在し、リチウムイオンを通過させつつ、正極及び負極の接触による短絡を防止する多孔質膜である。具体的には、セパレータは、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン、ポリプロピレン、又はポリエチレンなどの合成樹脂で構成されてもよく、セラミックなどで構成されてもよい。セパレータは、単層膜であってもよく、2種以上の多孔質膜を積層した多層膜であってもよい。
セパレータの片面又は両面には、高分子化合物層がさらに設けられてもよい。高分子化合物層は、セパレータと、正極又は負極との密着性を向上させることで、電解液の分解反応、及び電解液の漏液を抑制することができる。高分子化合物層は、物理的強度及び化学的安定性が高い高分子化合物(ポリフッ化ビニリデンなど)の1種又は2種以上を含んでもよい。さらに、高分子化合物層は、安全性を向上させるために、酸化アルミニウム又は窒化アルミニウムなどの無機粒子を1種又は2種以上含んでもよい。
[電解液]
電解液は、溶媒及び電解質塩を含み、正極及び負極を巻回された巻回型の電極体に含浸される。

溶媒は、有機溶剤などの非水溶媒を1種又は2種以上含む。非水溶媒は、炭酸エステル、鎖状カルボン酸エステル、ラクトン、又はニトリル化合物の1種又は2種以上を含む。炭酸エステルは、環状炭酸エステル及び鎖状炭酸エステルの両方を意味する。環状炭酸エステルは、炭酸エチレン、炭酸プロピレン、又は炭酸ブチレンなどである。鎖状炭酸エステルは、炭酸ジメチル、炭酸ジエチル、炭酸エチルメチル、又は炭酸メチルプロピルなどである。鎖状カルボン酸エステルは、酢酸メチル、酢酸エチル、プロピオン酸メチル、プロピオン酸エチル、プロピオン酸プロピル、酪酸メチル、イソ酪酸メチル、トリメチル酢酸メチル、又はトリメチル酢酸エチルなどである。ラクトンは、γ-ブチロラクトン又はγ-バレロラクトンなどである。ニトリル化合物は、アセトニトリル、メトキシアセトニトリル、又は3-メトキシプロピオニトリルなどである。
また、溶媒は、1,2-ジメトキシエタン、テトラヒドロフラン、2-メチルテトラヒドロフラン、テトラヒドロピラン、1,3-ジオキソラン、4-メチル-1,3-ジオキソラン、1,4-ジオキサン、N,N-ジメチルホルムアミド、N-メチルピロリジノン、N-メチルオキサゾリジノン、N,N’-ジメチルイミダゾリジノン、ニトロメタン、ニトロエタン、スルホラン、燐酸トリメチル、又はジメチルスルホキシドなどをさらに含んでもよい。
さらに、溶媒は、添加剤として、不飽和環状炭酸エステル、ハロゲン化炭酸エステル、スルホン酸エステル、酸無水物、ジニトリル化合物、ジイソシアネート化合物、又はリン酸エステルなどのいずれか1種又は2種以上を含んでもよい。これによれば、溶媒は、電解液の化学的安定性を向上させることができる。
電解質塩は、リチウム塩などの1種又は2種以上の塩を含む。ただし、電解質塩は、軽金属塩などのリチウム塩以外の塩を含んでもよいことは言うまでもない。リチウム塩は、六フッ化リン酸リチウム(LiPF6 )、四フッ化ホウ酸リチウム(LiBF4 )、過塩素酸リチウム(LiClO4 )、六フッ化ヒ酸リチウム(LiAsF6 )、テトラフェニルホウ酸リチウム(LiB(C6 H5 )4 )、メタンスルホン酸リチウム(LiCH3 SO3 )、トリフルオロメタンスルホン酸リチウム(LiCF3 SO3 )、テトラクロロアルミン酸リチウム(LiAlCl4 )、六フッ化ケイ酸二リチウム(Li2 SiF6 )、塩化リチウム(LiCl)、又は臭化リチウム(LiBr)などである。
なお、正極、負極、セパレータ、及び電解液の各材料は、上記に示した例に限定されず、他の材料を用いることも可能である。
<1-3.動作>
本実施形態に係る二次電池は、以下のように充放電動作を行うことができる。

<1-4.製造方法>
次に、二次電池の製造方法について説明する。二次電池は、以下で説明する工程にて正極及び負極を作製した後、正極及び負極を含む各構成を組み立てることで製造される。

[二次電池の組み立て]
まず、溶接法などを用いて、正極に正極リードを接続し、かつ負極に負極リードを接続する。次に、セパレータを介して正極及び負極を互いに対向させた後、正極、負極、及びセパレータを巻回することにより、巻回型の電極体を形成する。なお、巻回型の電極体の巻回中心には、センターピンが挿入されてもよい。
まず、溶接法などを用いて、正極に正極リードを接続し、かつ負極に負極リードを接続する。次に、セパレータを介して正極及び負極を互いに対向させた後、正極、負極、及びセパレータを巻回することにより、巻回型の電極体を形成する。なお、巻回型の電極体の巻回中心には、センターピンが挿入されてもよい。
続いて、容器部材11の内部に電極体を収容する。このとき、溶接法などを用いて、負極リードを容器部材11に接続する。次に、容器部材11の内部に電解液を注入することで、電極体に電解液を含浸させる。これにより、正極、負極、及びセパレータの各々に電解液が含侵し、電池素子20が形成される。
その後、容器部材11の第1側壁部11Bの端部外側に接着部材30を塗布し、第1側壁部11Bの外側から第2側壁部12Bが覆うように、蓋部材12を容器部材11の第1開口部11Kに被せる。このとき、溶接法などを用いて、正極リードを蓋部材12に接続する。さらに、光、熱、又は超音波などの刺激を与えることで、接着部材30を硬化させることで、蓋部材12と容器部材11とを接着する。これにより、容器部材11及び蓋部材12にて形成される空間が封止される。以上の工程により、本実施形態に係る二次電池を製造することができる。
<1-5.作用及び効果>
本実施形態に係る二次電池では、接着部材30によって容器部材11及び蓋部材12が接着されるため、容器部材11及び蓋部材12が互いにかしめられていない。すなわち、本実施形態に係る二次電池では、第1側壁部11B及び第2側壁部12Bが内側に屈曲しておらず、第1底部11A及び第2底部12Aに対して垂直方向に延在している。
本実施形態に係る二次電池では、接着部材30によって容器部材11及び蓋部材12が接着されるため、容器部材11及び蓋部材12が互いにかしめられていない。すなわち、本実施形態に係る二次電池では、第1側壁部11B及び第2側壁部12Bが内側に屈曲しておらず、第1底部11A及び第2底部12Aに対して垂直方向に延在している。
これによれば、本実施形態に係る二次電池は、容器部材11及び蓋部材12をかしめ構造によって密着させた場合と比較して、容器部材11及び蓋部材12にて形成される内部空間をより広くすることができる。したがって、本実施形態に係る二次電池は、内部に収納される電池素子20の体積をより大きくすることができるため、高容量化を実現することが可能である。
また、本実施形態に係る二次電池は、接着性を有する接着部材30を容器部材11及び蓋部材12に挟持される領域にのみ設けることで、容器部材11及び蓋部材12の間を封止することができる。これによれば、接着部材30が容器部材11及び蓋部材12にて形成される内部空間に入り込まないため、内部空間に収納される電池素子20の体積をより大きくすることが可能である。したがって、本実施形態に係る二次電池は、高容量化を実現することが可能である。
[効果の見積もり]
次に、図2及び図3を参照して、本実施形態に係る二次電池における電池素子20の体積増加効果の見積もり例について説明する。図2は、本実施形態に係る二次電池の各部の寸法を説明する模式的な縦断面図である。図3は、比較例に係る二次電池の各部の寸法を説明する模式的な縦断面図である。図2及び図3では、二次電池は、それぞれ扁平な円柱形状をしているものとする。
次に、図2及び図3を参照して、本実施形態に係る二次電池における電池素子20の体積増加効果の見積もり例について説明する。図2は、本実施形態に係る二次電池の各部の寸法を説明する模式的な縦断面図である。図3は、比較例に係る二次電池の各部の寸法を説明する模式的な縦断面図である。図2及び図3では、二次電池は、それぞれ扁平な円柱形状をしているものとする。
図2に示すように、本実施形態に係る二次電池において、容器部材11及び蓋部材12にて形成される内部空間40の高さをh、内径をrとする。また、第1側壁部11B及び第2底部12Aに挟持された接着部材30の厚みをa、内部空間40に突出した接着部材30の長さをbとする。このとき、内部空間40のうち電池素子20が利用可能な素子領域の高さxは、「h-a」で表すことができ、素子領域の内径yは、「r-b」で表すことができる。さらに、本実施形態に係る二次電池の素子領域の体積をvで表す。
また、図3に示すように、比較例に係る二次電池は、容器部材11と蓋部材12とがガスケット31によって互いに結合された二次電池である。ガスケット31は、ポリプロピレン等の有機絶縁体で構成されたリング状の部材である。ガスケット31は、容器部材11と対向する側に第1側壁部11Bの端部と嵌合する第1嵌合部31Aと、蓋部材12と対向する側に第2側壁部12Bの端部と嵌合する第2嵌合部31Bとを備える。ガスケット31は、互いに反対側に設けられた第1嵌合部31A及び第2嵌合部31Bの各々にて容器部材11及び蓋部材12と嵌合することができる。これにより、ガスケット31h、容器部材11及び蓋部材12を互いに電気的に絶縁させつつ、容器部材11及び蓋部材12を互いに密着して結合させることができる。
図3に示すように、比較例に係る二次電池において、図2と同様に、容器部材11及び蓋部材12にて形成される内部空間40の高さをh、内径をrとする。また、内部空間40におけるガスケット31の高さをCとし、ガスケット31と第2底部12AとのクリアランスをBとし、ガスケット31の必要高さとして「B+C」をAとする。また、内部空間40におけるガスケット31の幅をDとする。このとき、内部空間40のうち電池素子20が利用可能な素子領域の高さXは、「h-A」で表すことができ、素子領域の内径Yは、「r-D」で表すことができる。さらに、比較例に係る二次電池の素子領域の体積をVで表す。
ここで、容器部材11及び蓋部材12にて形成される内部空間40の大きさを1254サイズで共通として、図2で示す二次電池にて接着部材30の突出長さbを変動させた場合の素子領域の大きさを、図3で示す二次電池にてガスケット31の必要高さAを変動させた場合の素子領域の大きさと比較した結果を以下の表1に示す。

容器部材11及び蓋部材12にて形成される内部空間40の大きさを0954サイズで共通として、図2で示す二次電池にて接着部材30の突出長さbを変動させた場合の素子領域の大きさを、図3で示す二次電池にてガスケット31の必要高さAを変動させた場合の素子領域の大きさと比較した結果を以下の表3に示す。
さらに、容器部材11及び蓋部材12にて形成される内部空間40の大きさを1254サイズで共通として、図2で示す二次電池にて接着部材30の厚みaを変動させた場合の素子領域の大きさを、図3で示す二次電池にてガスケット31の幅Dを変動させた場合の素子領域の大きさと比較した結果を以下の表4に示す。
表1~表4の結果からわかるように、本実施形態に係る二次電池は、ガスケット31ではなく接着部材30を用いて容器部材11及び蓋部材12を結合させているため、比較例に係る二次電池に対して、電池素子20が利用可能な素子領域の大きさをより大きくすることができる。したがって、本実施形態に係る二次電池は、電池素子20の体積をより大きくすることができるため、高容量化を実現することが可能である。
<2.二次電池の用途>
二次電池の用途(適用例)は、特に限定されない。電源として用いられる二次電池は、電子機器および電動車両などの主電源として用いられてもよく、補助電源として用いられてもよい。主電源とは、他の電源の有無に関係なく、優先的に用いられる電源であり、補助電源は、主電源の代わりに用いられる電源、または主電源から切り替えられる電源である。
二次電池の用途(適用例)は、特に限定されない。電源として用いられる二次電池は、電子機器および電動車両などの主電源として用いられてもよく、補助電源として用いられてもよい。主電源とは、他の電源の有無に関係なく、優先的に用いられる電源であり、補助電源は、主電源の代わりに用いられる電源、または主電源から切り替えられる電源である。
二次電池の用途の具体例は、ビデオカメラ、デジタルスチルカメラ、携帯電話機、ノート型パソコン、ヘッドホンステレオ、携帯用ラジオおよび携帯用情報端末などの電子機器、バックアップ電源およびメモリーカードなどの記憶用装置、電動ドリルおよび電動鋸などの電動工具、電子機器などに搭載される電池パック、ペースメーカおよび補聴器などの医療用電子機器、電気自動車(ハイブリッド自動車を含む。)などの電動車両、ならびに非常時などに備えて電力を蓄積しておく家庭用または産業用のバッテリシステムなどの電力貯蔵システムである。これらの用途では、1個の二次電池が用いられてもよいし、複数個の二次電池が用いられてもよい。
電池パックは、単電池を用いて構成されてもよく、組電池を用いて構成されてもよい。電動車両は、二次電池を駆動用電源として作動(走行)する車両であり、二次電池以外の駆動源を併せて備えたハイブリッド自動車であってもよい。家庭用の電力貯蔵システムは、電力貯蔵源である二次電池に蓄積された電力を利用して家庭用の電気製品などを稼働させることが可能である。
ここで、二次電池の適用例の一例に関して具体的に説明する。以下で説明する適用例の構成は、あくまで一例であるため、適宜、変更可能である。
図4は、電池パックのブロック構成を示す。ここで説明する電池パックは、1個の二次電池を用いた電池パック(いわゆるソフトパック)であり、スマートフォンに代表される電子機器などに搭載される。
電池パックは、図4に示したように、電源410と、回路基板420とを備える。回路基板420は、電源410に接続されていると共に、正極端子210、負極端子310および温度検出端子430を含む。
電源410は、1個の二次電池を含む。二次電池では、正極リードが正極端子210に接続されていると共に、負極リードが負極端子310に接続されている。電源410は、正極端子210および負極端子310を介して外部と接続可能であり、正極端子210および負極端子310を介して充放電可能である。回路基板420は、制御部440と、スイッチ450と、PTC素子460と、温度検出部470とを含む。ただし、PTC素子460は省略されてもよい。
制御部440は、中央演算処理装置(CPU:Central Processing Unit)およびメモリなどを含み、電池パック全体の動作を制御する。制御部440は、必要に応じて電源410の使用状態の検出および制御を行う。
なお、制御部440は、電源410(二次電池)の電圧が過充電検出電圧または過放電検出電圧に到達した場合、スイッチ450を切断することにより、電源410の電流経路に充電電流が流れないようにすることができる。過充電検出電圧および過放電検出電圧は、特に限定されない。一例を挙げると、過充電検出電圧は、4.2V±0.05Vであり、過放電検出電圧は、2.4V±0.1Vである。
スイッチ450は、充電制御スイッチ、放電制御スイッチ、充電用ダイオードおよび放電用ダイオードなどを含み、制御部440の指示に応じて電源410と外部機器との接続の有無を切り換える。スイッチ450は、金属-酸化物-半導体を用いた電界効果トランジスタ(MOSFET:Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor)などを含む。充放電電流は、スイッチ450のON抵抗に基づいて検出される。
温度検出部470は、サーミスタなどの温度検出素子を含み、温度検出端子430を用いて電源410の温度を測定すると共に、温度の測定結果を制御部440に出力する。温度検出部470により測定される温度の測定結果は、異常発熱時に制御部440が電源410の充放電制御を行う場合、および残容量の算出時に制御部440が電源410の残容量の補正処理を行う場合などに用いられる。
以上、一実施形態を挙げながら本技術に関して説明したが、その技術の構成は、一実施形態において説明された構成に限定されないため、種々に変形可能である。
具体的には、上記では、電池素子の素子構造が巻回型(巻回電極体)である場合に関して説明したが、電池素子の素子構造は、特に限定されない。電池素子の素子構造は、電極(正極および負極)が積層された積層型(積層電極体)および電極(正極および負極)がジグザグに折り畳まれた九十九折り型などの他の素子構造でもよい。
また、上記では、電極反応物質がリチウムである場合に関して説明したが、電極反応物質は、特に限定されない。具体的には、電極反応物質は、上記したように、ナトリウムおよびカリウムなどの他のアルカリ金属でもよく、ベリリウム、マグネシウムおよびカルシウムなどのアルカリ土類金属でもよい。このほか、電極反応物質は、アルミニウムなどの他の軽金属でもよい。
本明細書中に記載された効果は、あくまで例示であるため、本技術の効果は、本明細書中に記載された効果に限定されない。よって、本技術に関して、他の効果が得られてもよい。
Claims (6)
- 電池素子と、
第1底部、第1側壁部および第1開口部を有する器状構造を有し、前記電池素子を収容する第1収容部材と、
第2底部、第2側壁部および第2開口部を有する器状構造を有し、前記第2底部が前記第1開口部に対向すると共に、前記第2側壁部が前記第1側壁部に外側から結合された第2収容部材と、
前記第1側壁部及び前記第2側壁部の間に少なくとも挟持され、前記第1収容部材と前記第2収容部材とを接着する接着部材と
を備える、二次電池。 - 前記接着部材は、絶縁性を有する、
請求項1に記載の二次電池。 - 前記接着部材は、鉤状の断面形状を有し、前記第1側壁部と、前記第2側壁部および前記第2底部とを接着する、
請求項1または請求項2に記載の二次電池。 - 前記接着部材は、熱硬化性樹脂または光硬化性樹脂を含む、
請求項1ないし請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の二次電池。 - 前記第1側壁部および前記第2側壁部は、屈曲されていない、
請求項1ないし請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の二次電池。 - リチウムイオン二次電池である、
請求項1ないし請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の二次電池。
