The invention can be used for cleaning outer contamination from shoes or for applying coloring, polishing or protective agents to the surface of shoes. Mechanical damage to the surfaces of leather articles during treatment is prevented. A device for treating leather articles comprises a rigid, hollow body and a porous element secured on the inside of the body. The free edge of the body walls is rounded.
