Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for monitoring the manufacture of consumer products.
  • the present invention is described with reference to containers and in particular plastic containers which are in particular fed to a product cycle. It should be noted that the invention can also be used for other types of products. Nevertheless, at least some of the advantages or configurations described are particularly suitable for a product cycle of consumer goods such as bottles, for example plastic bottles.
  • plastic packaging for example, is inorganic products in terms of waste management and can therefore only be fed into the technical cycle after it has been used.
  • the resources are reprocessed chemically and / or mechanically and, depending on the requirements, the resulting products are made available.
  • the simplest way of avoiding waste in the sense of a technical cycle is to reuse the first product, for example a reusable PET bottle.
  • Another variant of recycling is the recycling of plastic packaging (for example down-cycle products or thermal use, etc.).
  • the original resource is gradually lost for both variants.
  • companies today are increasingly striving for a technical C2C cycle economy from a long-term ecological and economic point of view.
  • These companies, governments and complementary independent organizations are trying to promote such a C2C solution in a regulatory and informative manner (“Cradle to Cradle”).
  • the circular economy can be viewed as a series of independent value chains belonging to different industries, B2B (business-to-business), B2C (business-to-consumer) (e.g.
  • a C2C circular economy requires a high degree of vertical company concentration, which is being tried on the market, for example, by integrating recycling companies and thus increasing controllability. There is, however, no end-to-end vertical integration of all industries involved in a C2C circular economy.

  • information can in turn be stored, for example, which relates to this further processing operation, for example on which machine the further processing took place or which other materials (such as labels or a sterilization medium) were used.
  • This respective information can be followed up during the entire life cycle of the consumer product and ultimately even during the recycling steps of the respective product.
  • the product can be tracked through the product cycle and information on each individual product can be called up and / or changed.
  • the invention offers the advantage of a transparency of the system and a common C2C target focus and thus allows an optimization of efficiency and effectiveness for all participants.
  • the quality of the materials can also be significantly improved, since it can be controlled at every point and manipulation is therefore unattractive. Error monitoring can also be carried out more easily in this way, since information relating to certain materials, for example a sterilizing agent used, can also be stored, for example.

  • a Cradle-to-Cradle certificate can also increase the competitiveness of plastic packaging. It is also possible to position a technology solution that is integrated for a circular economy with associated digitization. In this way, a closed circulation system for beverage packaging as a full-service provider can be offered on the market, which includes, for example, steps such as the manufacture of a consumer product, further processing (such as the expansion of a plastic preform into a plastic container, the filling of a plastic bottle, recycling steps, and so on) like that.
  • a consumable product is understood to mean a product which can preferably be further processed after its manufacture and which can preferably also be partially destroyed and / or recycled.

At another company such as a converter, such plastic bottles can be filled with a liquid. Recycling steps can in turn be carried out by other companies. However, the information that is linked to the product via the marking can preferably be passed on to all of these companies. In this way, the product can be monitored over its entire service life and beyond, for example for recycling steps.
  • a large number of containers or general my consumable products are produced and further processed.
