Definitions
- the present invention relates to a technology for determining a state of health (SOH) of a battery while the battery is idle.
- SOH state of health
- the battery repeatedly goes through a cycle period in a cycle state and an idle period in the idle state.
- the cycle state refers to a state in which charging and discharging of the battery proceeds.
- the idle state refers to a state in which charging and discharging of the battery is blocked (interrupted), that is, a state in which battery current does not flow.
- the state of charge (State Of Charge, hereinafter may be referred to as 'SOC') of the battery is essential.
- a method based on the battery current such as a current integration method (which may also be referred to as 'ampere counting') or a Kalman filter is useful.
- OCV- which is data that defines the correspondence between the open circuit voltage (hereinafter referred to as 'OCV') of the battery and the SOC, rather than the current integration method or Kalman filter. It is suitable to determine the SOC of the battery based on the SOC curve.
- the OCV-SOC curve is for the case where the hysteresis of the battery is completely eliminated, in the related art, it is only after a certain period of time (eg, 2 hours) required for battery stabilization has elapsed from the transition from the cycle state to the idle state.
- the SOC of the battery is determined using the OCV-SOC curve. Therefore, before a certain time elapses from the transition from the cycle state to the idle state, the SOC of the OCV-SOC curve Lover battery cannot be determined or the accuracy is inevitably reduced.
- the battery voltage and the battery current which are information required for determining the SOC of the battery, are measured by the voltage sensor and the current sensor, respectively.
- the accuracy of the SOC may be deteriorated.
