Abstract
Description
そこで、鮮明な画像の看板をより簡単に製作するために、パーソナルコンピュータ上で創作したデザインを直接基材に印刷できるインクジェット方式を利用する試みが行なわれている。
それに加えて、最近では、印刷幅が2,000mm以上の超ワイドフォーマットのインクジェットプリンターも登場し、これまで貼り合わせで対応してきた大判の印刷物が、一挙に印刷可能となるなど、ますます簡単に看板の製作ができるようになっている。
一般に、看板広告に用いられるポリマーシートとしてはターポリンがよく利用される。なお、ターポリンはポリエステルやポリアミドを芯材として、表裏にポリ塩化ビニルやエチレン-酢酸ビニル共重合体等のビニル系重合体を積層した複合シートである。
このため、有機溶剤としてアルキレングリコールモノエーテルモノエステルと環状エステルを利用すること(特許文献1参照)、バインダー樹脂としてビニル系重合体、有機溶剤として環境に優しいポリアルキレングリコールジアルキルエーテルを特定量含有する有機溶剤を使用すること(特許文献2参照)、有機溶剤としてジエチレングリコールエチルメチルエーテル及びプロピレンカーボネートを特定量含有すること(特許文献3参照)が公知である。
しかし、近年、印字速度の高速化が要求されるようになっており、従来の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物(特に環境に優しい有機溶剤を使用した非水性インクジェット用インク組成物)を印字した場合、ベタ部の埋まり(以下、「ベタ埋まり」という。)が十分でない、インクはじき防止性、吐出安定性、メンテナンス性に劣る、又はモタリングが発生するという問題が生じていた。
すなわち、本発明は、
1.アクリル系樹脂、顔料、顔料分散剤、及び有機溶剤を含有する非水性インクジェット用インク組成物であって、
前記有機溶剤として、
プロピレンカーボネートをインク組成物中に1.0~20.0質量%、
ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルを含有し、プロピレンカーボネートに対するジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルの含有量が、質量比で、ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル/プロピレンカーボネート=9.0~20.0であり、
テトラエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルをインク組成物中に5.0~25.0質量%含有する非水性インクジェット用インク組成物。
2.前記ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルが、ジエチレングリコールエチルメチルエーテル及び/又はジエチレングリコールジエチルエーテルである1に記載の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物。
3.前記アクリル系樹脂が、ガラス転移温度90~110℃、質量平均分子量2万~8万のアクリル系樹脂(A)と、ガラス転移温度65~85℃、質量平均分子量5万~8万のアクリル系樹脂(B)を、(A)/(B)=70~90/10~30の割合で含有してなる1又は2に記載の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物。
4.塩化ビニル・酢酸ビニル系樹脂を含有する1~3のいずれかに記載の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物。
これにより、インク組成物として引火点が十分に高く、安全性に優れ、かつ白抜けが生じることがなく、ベタ埋まり、モタリング発生防止性及びメンテナンス性も良好であって、インクジェット用プリンターのノズルからの吐出安定性が良好である効果を発揮することができる。
本発明の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物に含有されるアクリル系樹脂としては、有機溶剤に可溶な(メタ)アクリレートからなる重合体及びその共重合体などが挙げられる。そのような(メタ)アクリレートとしては、例えば、エチル、プロピル、またはブチル(メタ)アクリレートなどのアルキル(メタ)アクリレート;ヒドロキシメチル、ヒドロキシエチル、ヒドロキシプロピル、ヒドロキシブチル、ヒドロキシペンチル(メタ)アクリレートなどのヒドロキシアルキル(メタ)アクリレートなどが挙げられる。
一例として、三菱ケミカル社製のBR-60(Tg:75℃)、BR-64(Tg:55℃)、BR-75(Tg:90℃)、BR-77(Tg:80℃)、BR-83(Tg:105℃)、BR-87(Tg:105℃)、BR-88(Tg:105℃)、BR-90(Tg:65℃)、BR-93(Tg:50℃)、BR-95(Tg:80℃)、BR-105(Tg:50℃)、BR-106(Tg:50℃)、BR-107(Tg:50℃)、BR-108(Tg:90℃)、BR-113(Tg:75℃)、BR-115(Tg:50℃)及びBR-116(Tg:50℃)等が挙げられる。
このようなアクリル系樹脂としては、ガラス転移温度90~110℃、質量平均分子量2万~8万のアクリル系樹脂(A)と、ガラス転移温度65~85℃、質量平均分子量5万~8万のアクリル系樹脂(B)を、質量比で好ましくは(A)/(B)=70~90/10~30、より好ましくは75~90/10~25、更に好ましくは75~85/15~25の割合となるように含有する。
アクリル系樹脂の含有量が1.0質量%未満では基材との定着性が充分でなく、一方15.0質量%を超えると固形分が増え過ぎるため、吐出安定性が低下する。
なお、性能が低下しない範囲内で、上記アクリル系樹脂以外の樹脂、例えば、塩化ビニル系樹脂、塩化ビニル-酢酸ビニル系樹脂及びエチレン-酢酸ビニル系樹脂、スチレン-アクリル系樹脂、スチレン-マレイン酸系樹脂、ロジン系樹脂、ロジンエステル系樹脂、石油樹脂、クマロンインデン系樹脂、テルペンフェノール系樹脂、フェノール樹脂、ウレタン樹脂、メラミン樹脂、尿素樹脂、エポキシ系樹脂、セルロース系樹脂、キシレン樹脂、アルキッド樹脂、脂肪族炭化水素樹脂、ブチラール樹脂、マレイン酸樹脂、フマル酸樹脂等を併用することも可能である。
そして特に塩化ビニル・酢酸ビニル系樹脂を併用する場合には、アクリル系樹脂100質量部に対して、好ましくは塩化ビニル・酢酸ビニル系樹脂を1~15質量部、より好ましくは2~12質量部、更に好ましくは3~10質量部配合できる。
その塩化ビニル・酢酸ビニル系樹脂として、塩化ビニル85%・酢酸ビニル15%の塩化ビニル・酢酸ビニル系樹脂を使用することが好ましい。
本発明の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物に含有される顔料としては、従来から非水性インクジェット用インク組成物に使用されている公知の無機顔料や有機顔料等を使用することができる。
その無機顔料の具体例としては、カーボンブラック、酸化チタン、亜鉛華、酸化亜鉛、トリポン、酸化鉄、酸化アルミニウム、二酸化ケイ素、カオリナイト、モンモリロナイト、タルク、硫酸バリウム、炭酸カルシウム、シリカ、アルミナ、カドミウムレッド、べんがら、モリブデンレッド、クロムバーミリオン、モリブデートオレンジ、黄鉛、クロムイエロー、カドミウムイエロー、黄色酸化鉄、チタンイエロー、酸化クロム、ピリジアン、コバルトグリーン、チタンコバルトグリーン、コバルトクロムグリーン、群青、ウルトラマリンブルー、紺青、コバルトブルー、セルリアンブルー、マンガンバイオレット、コバルトバイオレット、マイカ等が例示できる。
また有機顔料の具体例としては、アゾ系、アゾメチン系、ポリアゾ系、フタロシアニン系、キナクリドン系、アンスラキノン系、インジゴ系、チオインジゴ系、キノフタロン系、ベンツイミダゾロン系、イソインドリン系、イソインドリノン系等の有機顔料が挙げられ、具体的な例をカラーインデックスで示すと、ピグメントブラック7、ピグメントブルー15、15:1、15:3、15:4、15:6、60、ピグメントグリーン7、36、ピグメントレッド9、48、49、52、53、57、97、122、149、168、177、178、179、206、207、209、242、254、255、ピグメントバイオレット19、23、29、30、37、40、50、ピグメントイエロー12、13、14、17、20、24、74、83、86、93、94、95、109、110、117、120、125、128、137、138、139、147、148、150、151、154、155、166、168、180、185、ピグメントオレンジ36、43、51、55、59、61、71、74等が挙げられる。
これら顔料は、1種もしくは2種以上を混合して用いることができ、その使用量は、非水性インクジェット用インク組成物全量に対して1.0~10.0質量%であり、より好ましくは2.0~7.0質量%である。顔料の使用量が1.0質量%より少ないと着色力が充分でない傾向があり、一方10.0質量%より多くなると粘度が上昇し、インクの流動性が低下する傾向がある。
本発明の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物に含有される顔料分散剤としては、イオン性または非イオン性の界面活性剤や、アニオン性、カチオン性またはノニオン性の高分子化合物等が使用できる。
中でも高分子化合物であるものが好ましく、例えば、特開2004-083872号公報、国際公開WO2003/076527号公報、国際公開WO2004/000950号公報に記載されているカルボジイミド系化合物、塩基性官能基含有共重合物であるアジスパーPB821、822(味の素ファインテクノ社製)(酸価及びアミン価が共に10~20mgKOH/g)、ソルスパース56000(ルーブリゾール社製)、ソルスパース39000(ルーブリゾール社製)、DISPERBYK(ビックケミー社製)等が好ましい。これら顔料分散剤は1種または2種以上を混合して使用できる。
中でもアミン価が10~40mgKOH/gの塩基性官能基含有共重合物が好ましい。
なお、上記顔料分散剤は、顔料の種類、使用する有機溶剤の種類に応じて適宜選択して使用する。
本発明の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物に含有される有機溶剤としては、まず、プロピレンカーボネートをインク組成物中に1.0~20.0質量%、更に及びテトラエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルである。
更に、ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルは、プロピレンカーボネートの含有量に対してジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル/プロピレンカーボネート=9.0~20.0となるように使用されることが必要であり、好ましくは10.0~18.0であり、更に好ましくは12.0~16.0、最も好ましくは13.0~15.0である。
ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル及びプロピレンカーボネートをこの範囲で使用することにより、高速印字を行った場合においても、濡れ性、定着性、ベタ埋まりに優れ、且つ吐出安定性にも優れたものになる。
また、好ましくは、ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルを非水性インクジェット用インク組成物中に40.0~80.0質量%、及びプロピレンカーボネートを非水性インクジェット用インク組成物中に4.0~20.0質量%、印刷画質をより向上させる点において更に好ましくは3.0~18.0質量%、特に好ましくは、5.0~15.0質量%を使用できる。
また、非水性インクジェット用インク組成物中にテトラエチレングリコールアルキルエーテルを含有することが必要であり、その含有量としては5.0~25.0質量%、好ましくは10.0~20.0質量%、より好ましくは12.0~18.0質量%、更に好ましくは13.0~18.0質量%である。
テトラエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルとしては、2つのアルキル基がそれぞれ独立して、好ましくは炭素数12以下のアルキル基であるもの、更に好ましくは炭素数6以下のアルキル基であるもの、より好ましくは炭素数3以下のアルキル基であるものを採用できる。
このような引火点50~150℃のアルキレングリコール誘導体としては、トリエチレングリコールジメチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールジエチルエーテル、(ポリ)エチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル、プロピレングリコールジメチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールジエチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールジメチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールジエチルエーテル、テトラプロピレングリコールジエチルエーテル、テトラプロピレングリコールジメチルエーテル等の(ポリ)プロピレングリコールジアルキルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノエチルエーテル等の(ポリ)プロピレングリコールモノアルキルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、プロピレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート、ジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、ジプロピレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、ジプロピレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート等の(ポリ)プロピレングリコールモノアルキルエーテルモノアルキルエステル、エチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、テトラエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル等の(ポリ)エチレングリコールモノアルキルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、エチレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート、ジエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、トリエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート等の(ポリ)エチレングリコールモノアルキルエーテルモノアルキルエステル、エチレングリコールジアセテート、ジエチレングリコールジアセテート、トリエチレングリコールジアセテート等の(ポリ)エチレングリコールジエステル、エチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、エチレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート、ジエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、ジエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、ジエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート、ジエチレングリコールモノプロピルエーテルアセテート、トリエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、トリエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、トリエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート等の(ポリ)エチレングリコールモノエーテルモノエステル等が例示できる。
引火点50~150℃のアルキレングリコール誘導体の内で、好ましくは、ジエチレングリコールエチルメチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールジエチルエーテルが挙げられる。
引火点50~150℃のアルキレングリコール誘導体の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物中の含有量は、好ましくは、45.0~78.0質量%、特に好ましくは、50.0~75.0質量%である。
さらに、ラクトン系溶剤を配合することができ、中でもγ-ブチロラクトンが好ましい。ラクトン系溶剤の含有量は、全インク組成物中において好ましくは0.3~3.0質量%であり、より好ましくは0.5~2.0質量%であり、更に好ましくは1.0~1.7質量%である。
また、溶媒全体の引火点を大きく変更しない範囲において、引火点が50~150℃の範囲内ではない、エチレングリコールジエチルエーテル、エチレングリコールジメチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート等を併用しても良い。
また、有機溶剤の総量は、全インク組成物中において80.0~98.0質量%を占める量であることが好ましい。上記総量が98.0質量%を超える場合には、得られるインクの印字適性が低下し、一方、総量が80.0質量%未満の場合にはインクの粘度上昇を誘引し、ノズルからのインクの吐出性が低下する傾向があるので好ましくない。
さらに、本発明の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物には、必要に応じて、界面活性剤、可塑剤、表面調整剤、紫外線防止剤、光安定化剤、酸化防止剤等の種々の添加剤を使用することができる。
次に、これらの材料を用いて本発明の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物を製造する方法について説明する。
本発明の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物は、例えば、湿式サーキュレーションミル、ビーズミル、ボールミル、サンドミル、アトライター、ロールミル、DCPミル、アジテータ、ヘンシェルミキサー、コロイドミル、超音波ホモジナイザー、高圧ホモジナイザー(マイクロフルイダイザー、ナノマイザー、アルティマイザー、ジーナスPY、DeBEE2000等)、パールミル等の分散機を使用して分散混合し、非水性インクジェット用インク組成物の粘度が2~10mPa・sとなるように調整することによって得ることができる。
本発明の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物中における全有機溶剤の含有量は、インク組成物全量から、バインダー樹脂、顔料、顔料分散剤、必要により使用するその他の添加剤の合計量を差し引いた量であるが、インク粘度が前記範囲内になるように適宜変更するのが好ましい。
このようにして得られた本発明の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物は、少なくとも表面層が塩化ビニル系重合体やエチレン-酢酸ビニル系共重合体からなる基材に、インクジェット用プリンターを用いて使用できる。
本発明の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物は周知の用途に使用することができるが、中でも非吸収性材料からなる基材の表面層に対して使用する場合に適している。非吸収性材料としては金属、樹脂、セラミック等があるが、中でも樹脂を基材とする表面層に対して使用すること、さらに、該樹脂として塩化ビニル系重合体またはエチレン-酢酸ビニル系共重合体からなる表面層を対象にして使用することが、ベタ埋まり、ベタ付き等の印刷性等の点において好ましい。
以下の実施例、比較例で使用した材料は次の通りである。溶剤以外の成分は全て固形分含量である。
表中の顔料、分散剤、樹脂、溶剤及び合計の欄の数値の単位は「質量%」である。

<非水性インクジェット用インク組成物の製造>
表1の配合(各材料の配合比率は質量%)に従い、各材料を撹拌混合して実施例1~12及び比較例1~4の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物を得た。
市販のインクジェット用プリンターに実施例1~12及び比較例1~4の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物を装填し、ポリ塩化ビニルシートに高速印字モードにてベタ印刷を行い、実施例1~12及び比較例1~4の印刷物を得た。
これらの印刷物について下記の特性を測定・評価した。
下記評価において、A、Bは実用レベルといえる評価に含まれ、C、Dは未だ実用レベルとはいえない評価に含まれる。
実施例1~12、比較例1~4の各非水性インクジェット用インク組成物の25℃における粘度を、粘度計(東機産業社製 RE100L型)を用いて測定した。
実施例1~12、比較例1~4の各非水性インクジェット用インク組成物を用いてポリ塩化ビニルシート(商品名:MPI1000シリーズ、Avery Dennison社製)に高速印字モードでベタ印刷を行い、ベタ部の埋まりについて、画像に白抜けがあるかどうか、つまりベタ埋まりが良好かについて目視にて評価した。
評価基準
A:白抜けがない
B:白抜けが少しある
C:白抜けが多い
実施例1~12、比較例1~4の各非水性インクジェット用インク組成物を用いてポリ塩化ビニルシート(商品名:MPI1000シリーズ、Avery Dennison社製)に標準モードで単色、混色(赤、青、緑)のベタ印刷を行い、ベタ部形成の程度について目視で評価した。
評価基準
A:単色、混色でインクはじきがなく、ベタ部を形成している
B:混色ではインクはじきがなく、ベタ部を形成しているが、単色ではイン
クはじきが発生し、ベタ部を形成できていない
C:単色、混色で共にインクはじきが発生し、ベタ部を形成できていない
実施例1~12、比較例1~4の各非水性インクジェット用インク組成物を用いてポリ塩化ビニルシート(商品名:MPI1000シリーズ、Avery Dennison社製)に標準モードで混色(赤、青、緑)のベタ印刷を行い、画像についてモタリング(まだら模様)の発生の有無について目視で評価した。
評価基準
A:モタリングがない
B:モタリングが少しある
C:モタリングが多い
実施例1~12、比較例1~4の各非水性インクジェット用インク組成物を用いてポリ塩化ビニルシート(商品名:MPI1000シリーズ、Avery Dennison社製)に印刷を行い、印刷されない部分が発生する枚数で評価した。
評価基準
A:印刷されない部分が71枚目以降に発生するか、印刷されない部分が1
00枚目までは発生しない
B:印刷されない部分が51枚目~70枚目で発生する
C:印刷されない部分が31枚目~50枚目で発生する
D:印刷されない部分が30枚目までに発生する
実施例1~12、比較例1~4の各非水性インクジェット用インク組成物を内径5ミリメートル、長さ20センチメートルのシリコンチューブ内に注入後、25℃で5日間放置し、チューブ内でインク固化物を作成した。次に、再びチューブ内に各インク組成物を注入し、固化物が再溶解してインクが流れ出るか、以下の基準で評価した。
評価基準
A:インクが速やかに流れ出る
B:インクが流れ出るまで時間を要する
C:インクが一部流れ出る
D:閉塞が回復しない
これに対して、ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル/プロピレンカーボネートが高すぎる比較例1によれば、インクはじき防止性とモタリング発生防止性の2点の評価がBに留まった。ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル/プロピレンカーボネートが低すぎる比較例2によれば、ベタ埋まり性及び吐出安定性の評価がBであり、モタリング発生防止性の評価がCに留まった。
また、テトラエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルの含有量が低い比較例3によれば、特にインクはじき防止性とメンテナンス性に劣っていた。テトラエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルの含有量が高すぎる比較例4によれば、特にモタリング発生防止性に劣っていた。
Claims (4)
- アクリル系樹脂、顔料、顔料分散剤、及び有機溶剤を含有する非水性インクジェット用インク組成物であって、
前記有機溶剤として、
プロピレンカーボネートをインク組成物中に1.0~20.0質量%、
ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルを含有し、プロピレンカーボネートに対するジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルの含有量が、質量比で、ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル/プロピレンカーボネート=9.0~20.0であり、
テトラエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルをインク組成物中に5.0~25.0質量%含有する非水性インクジェット用インク組成物。 - 前記ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテルが、ジエチレングリコールエチルメチルエーテル及び/又はジエチレングリコールジエチルエーテルである請求項1に記載の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物。
- 前記アクリル系樹脂が、ガラス転移温度90~110℃、質量平均分子量2万~8万のアクリル系樹脂(A)と、ガラス転移温度65~85℃、質量平均分子量5万~8万のアクリル系樹脂(B)を、(A)/(B)=70~90/10~30の割合で含有してなる請求項1又は2に記載の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物。
- 塩化ビニル・酢酸ビニル系樹脂を含有する請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の非水性インクジェット用インク組成物。
