Detailed Description of the Invention
Healthy skin flora is ensured by means of the multi-purpose activity of probiotics through the formulation of the inventive probiotic wet wipes with a wetting solvent comprising Lactobacillus fermente at the rate of 0.00075% to 3% by weight, Lactobacillus at the rate of 0.0002% to 0.8% by weight, extract of Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) at the rate of 0.00005% to 0.2% by weight, ethylhexylglycerin at the rate of 0.001% to 1.5% by weight and purified water at the rate of 94.5% to 99.998% as a solvent .
In an embodiment of the invention, the wetting solvent comprises a mixture of 2% (in total) Lactobacillus fermente, Lactobacillus and Cocos Nucifera (coconut) extract.
In the wetting solvent that the wet wipes comprise, Lactobacillus and Lactobacillus fermente are used as probiotics. The Lactobacillus fermente provides efficiently the antibacterial effect of Lactobacillus and the antifungal effect of Cocos Nucifera (coconut) . The Lactobacillus fermente is a probiotic- based component, that is formed through the fermentation of Lactobacillus in a certain growth medium and certain conditions. Lactobacillus is one of the microorganisms that are used in obtaining the fermented products being kimchi of pickled cabbage and a Korean diet fiber. Lactobacillus may limit the growth of other microorganisms by acidifying its medium just as most members of the lactic acid bacteria family. Furthermore, Lactobacillus also produces new antimicrobial peptides that provide protection against bacteria.
The product gains cellular viability increasing feature and skin moisturizing feature by means of Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) extract in the wetting solvent.
Ethylhexylglycerin, being another component, is used as the wetting material in the invention. It is introduced to increase the moisturizing effect of the formulation and to soften the skin. Another function thereof is to be protective.
Modern fermentation and bioprocess technology are utilized in the preparation of the inventive probiotic wet wipes with natural components. Natural probiotics, purified water and a product with organic components are obtained by fermenting Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) with Lactobacillus.
Firstly, the Lactobacillus fermente, Lactobacillus, and Cocos Nucifera (coconut) extract are mixed in the preparation of the wetting solvent of the inventive probiotic wet wipes. Then, the
purified water is taken into the container and afterward, the mixture of the Lactobacillus fermente, Lactobacillus, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) extract is introduced. Then, it is mixed and ethylhexylglycerin is added after mixing and the mixing process is performed again. The wipe is immersed into the wetting solvent and the solved is absorbed and then, the prepared wet wipes are packaged .
A sample formulation for the wetting solvent of the inventive probiotic wet wipes is given in Table 1. Furthermore, the formulation on Table 1 comprises the Lactobacillus fermente, Lactobacillus and Cocos Nucifera extract such that its rate is 2% by weight, constituting an example for an embodiment of the invention .
Table 1: Sample formulation of the wetting solvent
The inventor conducted an in-vivo study in a period of four weeks to evaluate the benefits of moisturizing the inventive probiotic wet wipes. 10 people were enrolled in the study between the ages of 23-45. The moisturizing experiment was conducted to evaluate the moisturizing capability of the product, wherein the results thereof are given graphics of Figure 1 and Figure 2.
10 volunteers between the ages of 23-45 without any known skin pathology were enrolled. A DermaLab Corneometer was used to measure moisture levels of the volar forearm of subjects. Corneometer is a device to measure the water amount on the skin.
Therefore, the higher the moisture level is, the higher the reading through the Corneometer will be. On the first day of the study, basal moisturizing readings were taken. After the first measurements, it was asked from all subjects to apply 2mg of each test material on their volar forearms. Measurements were taken immediately after the application of test materials and once a week throughout four weeks. The test material is comprised of a mixture of 2% Lactobacillus fermente, Lactobacillus, Cocos nucifera (coconut) extract in the base lotion. In Figure 1, the lotion containing a mixture of 2% Lactobacillus fermente, Lactobacillus, Cocos nucifera (coconut) extract, the base lotion, and the unprocessed control samples were compared in terms of the moisturizing increase depending on time. In the graph, average impedance values in 24 hours (T24), in the first week (Tl), in the second week (T2), in the third week (T3), in the fourth week (T4) are respectively illustrated through columns in terms of the lotion containing a mixture of 2% Lactobacillus fermente, Lactobacillus, Cocos nucifera (coconut) extract, the base lotion, and the unprocessed control samples. Result values are given in Table 2 and Table 3 in detail.
Table 2
The results for the comparative moisturizing in the study are given in Figure 2. Referring to Figure 2, the moisture levels were increased by 42.42% after 24 hours (T24) and by 63% at the fourth week (T4) compared to the unprocessed control as evidence of the four- weeks efficiency study of the inventive lotion containing a mixture of 2% Lactobacillus fermente, Lactobacillus, Cocos nucifera (coconut) extract. When compared to the base lotion, it was observed to increase the moisturizing by 14,38% after 24 hours (T24) and by 25% after four weeks (T4) . The results exhibit that the inventive product is capable of increasing the moisturizing when compared to both the unprocessed control and the base lotion. This study confirms that the product may ensure a significant moisturizing and benefits in skin hydration when added to the cosmetic applications. Depending on the results,
adding this innovative product ensures the formulator to benefit from both the natural antimicrobial features of the product and the capability of introducing a significant moisturizing effect into the cosmetic formulation. Furthermore, these features are ideal for applications on various skin and scalp conditions. The results exhibit that the product is capable of increasing significantly the moisturizing compared to the control.
