Definitions
- the invention relates to a construction component, specifically a construction component for building retaining walls which comprises at least one visible side.
- Retaining walls are often assembled of gabions formed by wire-stone building elements and used for ground pressure transmission, as well as a fortification in stabilizing the banks of modified watercourses or, for example, on the faces of bridge structures and culverts. They are also used in garden architecture or as walls instead of fencing.
- a gabion design usable for fencing which consists of steel mesh filled with aggregates.
- This gabion structure is formed from at least one module, with each module having the steel mesh bent into a U-shape forming the bottom, front and back sides.
- This U-shaped steel mesh structure is filled with aggregates and is arranged on each side in a steel pillar whose cross-section follows the U-shaped mesh, with the steel pillar being fixed in a concrete base.
- the disadvantage of this design is that it is of single purpose use and, due to its anchoring, it has a relatively low load-bearing capacity, which excludes its use for creating retaining walls.
- a gabion design for revitalizing railway substructure, in particular for extension of rail-bed substructure.
- This design includes a face, bottom, back, partitions and sides formed from steel mesh bent to 90° along its entire width into an L-shape or, the face, bottom and back are formed from a single piece of steel mesh bent to 90° along its entire width into a U-shape with both sides facing each other, with at least a portion of the mesh being 100 x 25 mm.
- the disadvantage is again its single purpose use.
- This gabion design however, has a high load-bearing capacity, but it is not possible to build retaining walls from it.
- an end-less gabion wall comprising first and second grating elements each forming an outer wall surface, connecting elements keeping the outer wall surfaces spaced apart, and a filling of aggregate, concrete, soundproofing material and/or other pieces of material, occupying a hollow space between the outer wall surfaces.
- the connecting elements comprise third grating elements spaced mutually apart from the outer wall surfaces, which comprise tensile connecting elements on their sides on the outer wall side, and the tensile connecting elements engage directly with the divided lattice bars of the opposing first and second grating elements forming the outer wall surfaces.
- These first or second grating elements always connect at their vertical edges into one end-less outer wall surface.
- At least a portion of the horizontally linked lattice rods is made double, and in the overlapping region at the interfaces of the adjacent first and/or second grating elements one of each of the two horizontally linked lattice rods is alternately shorter than the other horizontally linked lattice rod.
- a construction component which comprises on its face a layer of lump material which is provided with a metal mesh made of stainless materials. It is a construction component design of relatively very small dimensions. The disadvantage is that this design solution is not usable for large building blocks, where under the pressure of the lump material there is a risk of destruction of the metal mesh and thus the destruction of the complete construction component.
- the object of the invention is the replacement of conventional gabion walls with structures that have a high load-bearing capacity, are stable, quick to assemble and universally applicable, all this with a long service life.
- a construction component specifically a construction component for building retaining walls, comprising at least one visible side comprising a layer of lump material arranged on a supporting block, according to the invention whose basis is that the visible side is provided with mesh connected to the supporting block, which holds the layer of lump material, with the mesh being simultaneously connected by at least one rod to the supporting block.
- the advantage is the high dimensional stability of the construction component, which allows very simple and fast assembly of retaining walls with high load-bearing capacity and long service life.
- the mesh provides stable connection of the lump material layer to the supporting block with the possibility of creating a visible side with appearance and functionality with respect to a particular application.
- the great advantage of using a rod is that the rod prevents the lump material from rolling out, which is arranged so that it is essentially held only by the mesh.
- the lump material layer at the point of contact with the supporting block is provided with a sheet-like retention means, which is most preferably a non-woven fabric.
- a sheet-like retention means which is most preferably a non-woven fabric.
- the supporting block comprises at least one first connecting side which contains shaped locks.
- the advantage is that the shaped locks make it possible to establish a firm connection with the surroundings of the construction component.
- the supporting block comprises at least one second connecting side which comprises shaped recesses.
- the advantage is that the shape recesses, like the above-mentioned shaped locks, allow a firm connection with the surroundings of the construction component. It is to greatest advantage that the shaped locks and the shaped recesses of adjacent construction components are connected. It is also to great advantage if the construction component further comprises at least one catch means embedded in the first connecting side of the supporting block, with the greatest advantage being that the catch means is a bearing bolt. The advantage is the possibility of very simple and precise manipulation of the construction component.
- the construction component also comprises at least one drainage means connecting the surface of the visible side and the surface of the opposite side.
- the advantage is the possibility to easily drain excess moisture from the inside of the retaining wall.
- At least one grating is mounted and extends from the surface of the opposite side to the visible side of the construction component, with this grating entering the surrounding material and being fixed therein, holding the construction component and the retaining wall erected therefrom in a static position.
- the supporting block has a bulk density of at least 150 kg/m 3 .
- the advantage is the possibility of creating a load-bearing wall with stability with respect to a specific application. In the case of higher bulk weights, with the help of the high weights of the individual construction components stacked on each other, a very strong connection can be created
- the supporting block is made of concrete.
- the advantage is very simple production and long service life.
- the lump material is aggregate. In individual applications, it may be to further advantage if the lump material is pieces of concrete or soundproofing material and/or other lump material with properties suitable for the specific requirements of a particular application.
- a retaining wall composed of at least two construction components comprising at least one visible side, which comprises a layer of lump material arranged on a supporting block according to the invention whose principle is that at least two construction components are arranged on top of one another so that the supporting block of the lower construction component with its first connecting side abutting the second connecting side of the supporting block of the upper construction component, while at least one shaped lock is arranged on the first connecting side of the supporting block of the lower construction component and engages in at least one shaped recess arranged on the second connecting side of the supporting block of the upper construction component.
- the advantage of such a retaining wall is its high strength and spatial stability.
- shaped connecting elements such as the above-mentioned shaped locks and shaped recesses are provided on the side connecting surfaces of the construction components as well.
- the main advantage of the construction components and retaining walls according to the invention is that they enable simple and fast assembly of a high-strength and load-bearing, space-stable retaining wall with a long service life.
