본 발명은 가열된 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서 발생할 수 있는 악취 및 미세먼지 등을 포함하는 유해 성분들이 발생하는 것을 방지하기 위하여, 중질유분 내에 존재하는 다수의 악취 및 미세먼지 등을 포함하는 유해성분을 유발하는 물질들을 미리 제거하는 제조하는 방법 및 그 시스템에 관한 것이다. 상기 제조방법은 중질유분 개질반응조 내부에 저장되어 있는 중질유분을 개질 반응온도까지 가열하는 중질유분 가열단계; 상기 중질유분 개질반응조 내부에 저장되어 있는 가열된 중질유분 내로 운반기체를 분산시켜 공급하는 운반기체 공급단계; 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부에서 가열된 중질유분 내 악취유발 및 유해성분이 운반기체와 함께 중질유분 개질 반응조 외부로 배출되는 악취유발 및 유해성분 배출단계;을 포함하며, 상기 시스템은 악취유발 및 유해성분 저감된 중질유분 제조방법 및 중질유분 개질 반응조; 운반기체 공급부; 운반기체 분산부; 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부를 포함한다.

Description

악취유발 및 유해증기가 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법 및 그 시스템
본 발명은 중질유분의 악취 유발 및 유해성분을 저감하기 위한 방법 및 시스템에 대한 것으로, 정유 또는 석유화학공정에서 발생하는 고비점 중질유분 내 잔존하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 미리 제거함으로써 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서 발생할 수 있는 악취 및 미세먼지 등의 유해물질의 배출 문제를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있는 고품질 중질유분의 제조 방법 및 그 시스템에 관한 것이다.
중질유분은 자연에서 얻어지거나 정유, 석유화학, 철강 산업의 공정 하류 등에서 얻어지는 API도 기준 29 이하 고비점 탄화수소물이 대다수로 구성된 잔사유를 칭한다. 중질유분 내 구성성분은 극성이 높은 아스팔텐이 응집된 형태로 중심에 위치하고, 레진이 제한적으로 이들을 둘러쌓아 비극성 탄화수소물로부터 경계층을 형성하는 core-shell 구조의 콜로이드 형태(colloidal state)를 이루며 상기 core-shell 구조의 콜로이드 내에는 높은 극성을 갖는 레진 및 아스팔텐과 같은 거대분자뿐만 아니라, 매우 다양한 저비점 화학물들 또한 상당 수 갇혀있는 것으로 알려져 있다.
이러한 구조를 이루고 있기 때문에 중질유분을 원료로 활용하기 위한 후속(downstream) 공정, 예로서 중질유분 중의 하나인 아스팔트를 아스콘으로 제조하기 위한 가열 공정에서처럼 중질유분을 가열하게 되면 상기 코어-쉘 구조의 콜로이드 내에 갇혀 있던 저비점 화학물들이 제한적인 속도로 배출되면서 악취 등 환경 오염을 유발하게 되며, 이로 인해 중질유분이 사용되는 산업 주변의 환경적 사회적 갈등을 유발하는 주 요인이 되고 있다.
따라서, 중질유분으로부터 상기 악취 등 환경오염 유발 물질을 제거하여 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정의 대기오염원 배출량을 근본적으로 저감할 수 있는 기술적 해결책이 필요하다.
상기 악취 유발 물질을 제거하는 기술과 관련하여 미국등록특허 5271767호(1993.12.21. 공개)에서는 중질유분의 일종인 아스팔트를 가열하는 과정에서 발생하는 악취를 제거하기 위하여 아스팔트에 식물성 기름 및 D-limonene의 혼합물을 투입하며, 상기 식물성 기름과 D-limonene의 분산을 위해 실리콘 오일을 도입하고 있다.
중국공개특허 CN 109651831호(2019.04.19. 공개)에서는 분산제, 정화제(air cleaning agent)로서 ethyoxyl stearamide, 점착제(tackifier) 등을 포함한 악취 제거제를 아스팔트에 투입하여 악취을 제거하는 기술구성이 공지되어 있다.
그러나, 상기 선행문헌들에서는 악취유발 물질을 미리 분리 제거하는 방식이 아니라, 악취를 마스킹하거나, 흡착하여 악취 유발 물질의 증발을 억제하는 기술로서 악취 등을 포함한 유해성분의 제거에 미흡한 점이 있었다.
한국등록특허공보 KR 0779070호(2007.11.28. 공고)에서는 아스팔트를 원료로 사용하는 아스콘 제조과정에서 악취와 분진을 제거하기 위해서 아스콘 제조 시, 믹서 내부에 발생하는 악취를 흡입하는 흡기팬을 설치하여 분진 및 악취를 제거하는 방법이 기재되어 있고, 한국등록특허공보 KR 1187221호(2012.10.02. 공고) 및 한국등록특허공보 KR 1273329호(2013.06.11. 공고)에서는 아스콘의 제조부 혹은 아스콘을 트럭에 상차하는 과정에서 발생하는 기타 유해분진을 강제 흡입하여 하단의 호퍼, 원심력 집진부, 여과필터, 응축기 등으로 처리하여 아스콘 제조시 발생되는 분진 및 악취를 제거하기 위한 기술이 기재되어 있다. 이러한 방법들은 아스팔트를 가열하는 과정에서 발생하는 유해물질의 일부 만을 단순 포집, 정화하는 간접적 대기오염원 처리 기술에 해당할 뿐이어서 대기오염 확산 방지에 한계가 존재하며, 근본적 해결책이 될 수 없다. 본 발명은 이와 같이 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서 발생하는 악취유발 및 미세먼지를 포함한 유해성분들이 주로 중질유분 자체로부터 발생하는 저비점 화합물들인 점에 착안하여, 상기 저비점 화합물들을 미리 제거하여, 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서의 유해성분의 발생을 원천적으로 차단할 수 있는 방법을 제공하고자 한다.
또한, 본 발명은 상기 중질유분 내의 저비점 화합물들은 아스팔텐을 포함한 중질분자들의 착물(complex) 형태인 상기 core-shell 구조의 콜로이드 내에 상당수 포집되어 있으므로 상기 저비점 화합물들의 아스팔텐을 고분산할 수 있는 첨가제를 부가하여 저비점 화합물들의 제거를 용이하게 하는 방안 및 상기 첨가제로서 폐유의 증류 잔사물을 활용하는 기술을 제공하고자 한다.
폐유는 통상 폐식용유 등과 같은 식품 부산물, 높은 폴리클로리네이티드비페닐을 함유하는 유분, 그 외 정제를 통하여 연료유로 재생이나 회수가 어려운 유분을 포함하지 않는다. 국가별 차이는 있으나, 일반적으로 폐윤활유가 폐유의 75% 이상의 비중으로 배출되며, 연마유, 절삭유, 연료유, 아스팔트유, 전기절연유, 그리스, 방청유 등을 포함하기도 한다.
상기 폐유는 그대로 폐기하기에는 환경적 폐해가 크므로, 증류 등의 분리방법을 통해 연료유로 회수될 수 있는 부분을 최대한 회수한 뒤 폐기 처리하는 것이 일반적이다.
상기 폐유 정제와 관련하여 유럽등록특허 0708174호(1996.04.24. 공개)에서는 240℃이하에서 수분이 제거된 폐유를 증류하고 증류 잔사유를 용매추출에 의해 추가 분리하여 후단에 위치한 수소첨가 전처리(hydrotreating) 공정을 통해 수득율과 회수된 유분의 품질을 향상하는 예를 제시하였다. 미국등록특허 9932530호(2015.12.17. 공개)에서는 수분이 제거된 폐유를 한개 또는 복수의 수소첨가 전처리 반응공정을 통해 폐윤활유를 고급 품질의 기유를 제조하는 공정에 대한 예를 제시하고 있다.
상기 폐유로부터 연료유 등을 회수하고 남은 증류 잔사유에는 고비점의 고형 탄화수소물 및 무기물들뿐만 아니라, 열분해가 되지 않은 대부분의 유기화합물 또는 유기금속 첨가제가 탑하부 기류에 축적될 수 있다. 이들의 비점분포는 정유공정의 최하류에서 발생하는 감압 잔사유와 유사한 고비점 특성을 가지며, 높은 농도의 아스팔텐 분산제가 잔존하기 때문에, 이를 정량하여 아스팔텐 분산을 위한 첨가제로 사용하면 가열된 중질유분의 악취 유발 및 유해물질 저감을 위한 개질공정에 효율적으로 적용될 수 있다.
가열된 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서 발생할 수 있는 악취 및 미세먼지 등을 포함하는 유해 성분들의 발생을 방지하기 위하여, 중질유분 내에 존재하며 대기에 높은 확산계수를 갖는 다수의 악취 및 미세먼지 등을 포함하는 유해 증기 또는 이를 유발하는 다수의 저비점 물질들을 미리 제거하는 방법을 제공하고자 한다.
또한, 본 발명은 중질유분에서의 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 포함된 증기를 제거하는 데 있어서, 폐유의 정제과정에 발생하는 증류 잔류분을 사용하여 중질유분을 개질함과 동시에 폐유의 유용한 활용처를 제공하고자 한다.
상기 과제를 해결하기 위하여 본 발명은 내부에 저장되는 중질유분을 가열하는 가열 수단을 포함하며, 내부로 공급되는 운반기체가 가열된 중질유분 내 악취유발 및 유해 성분과 함께 외부로 배출되는 중질유분 개질 반응조; 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부로 운반기체를 공급하는 운반기체 공급부; 상기 운반기체 공급부에서 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부로 공급되는 운반기체를 분산시키는 운반기체 분산부; 및 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조에서 배출되는 운반기체로부터 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 분리하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 시스템을 제공한다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부에서 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 분리된 운반기체를 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조로 재공급하는 운반기체 순환부;를 더 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조는, 상기 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서의 조업온도 이상 및 330 ℃ 이하의 범위로 중질유분을 가열시키는 것을 특징으로 한다. 또한, 운반기체가 중질유분 개질 반응조 외부로 배출되기 전에 운반기체에 포함되어 있는 중질유분 미립자를 필터링하는 디미스터;를 추가적으로 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부는, 흡착제, 스크러버, 분리막, 냉각기 중 적어도 하나 이상의 수단을 이용하여, 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조에서 배출되는 운반기체로부터 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 분리하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부 후단과 중질유분 개질반응조의 입구 사이에 폐촉매, 분자체, NaOH 중에서 선택된 하나 이상이 추가로 위치한 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 중질유분은, 감압 잔사유, 열분해유, 석탄 건류 콜타르, 아스팔트, 천연 역청 중 선택된 하나 이상일 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명은 상기 중질유분 제조 시스템 및 상기 중질유분 제조 시스템에서 얻어진 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 아스팔트와 골재를 혼합하는 아스콘 믹싱부;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 아스콘 제조 시스템을 제공한다.
또한, 본 발명은 (a) 중질유분 개질반응조 내부에 저장되어 있는 중질유분을 개질 반응온도까지 가열하는 중질유분 가열단계; (b) 상기 중질유분 개질반응조 내부에 저장되어 있는 가열된 중질유분 내로 운반기체를 분산시켜 공급하는 운반기체 공급단계; (c) 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부에서 가열된 중질유분 내 악취유발 및 유해성분이 운반기체와 함께 중질유분 개질 반응조 외부로 배출되는 악취유발 및 유해성분 배출단계;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 아스팔트 제조 방법을 제공한다.
본 발명의 제조방법의 다른 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 제조 방법은 (d) 중질유분으로부터 분리 탈기된 악취유발 및 유해성분을 상기 운반기체로부터 분리하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리 단계;를 더 포함하며, (d) 중질유분으로부터 분리 탈기된 악취유발 및 유해성분을 상기 운반기체로부터 분리하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리 단계;를 더 포함하며, 상기 (d) 단계에서의 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 분리된 운반기체를 상기 (b)단계로 되돌릴 수 있다.
본 발명의 제조방법의 다른 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 (a) 단계의 중질유분은 아스팔텐 분산제가 첨가된 것을 특징으로 한다. 상기 아스팔텐 첨가제는, 극성 그룹의 쌍극자 모멘트는 1.1 디바이 이상이고, 상기 비극성 그룹의 쌍극자 모멘트는 0.5 디바이 이하인 양극성 첨가제 및/또는 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제일 수 있으며, 상기 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제는 폐유에서 고형분과 수분을 제거하고, 재생 가능한 탄화수소를 회수하고 난 뒤의 증류탑 잔사물일 수 있다.
본 발명의 제조방법의 다른 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 양극성 첨가제의 상기 극성그룹은, 아민(amine), 이미드(imide), 아미드(amide), 알코올, 페놀, 에스테르, 메타아크릴레이트(methacrylate) 중에서 선택되는 적어도 하나를 포함하며, 상기 비극성 그룹은 에틸렌, 프로필렌, 이소부틸렌, 디엔(diene), 스타이렌(styrene)중 어느 하나 또는 조합으로부터 유도되는 고분자를 포함하며, 상기 양극성 첨가제의 수평균 분자량 (The number average molecular weight)으로 100 내지 500,000인 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명의 제조방법의 다른 일 실시예에 있어서, 상기 중질유분은, 감압 잔사유, 열분해유, 석탄 건류 콜타르, 아스팔트, 천연 역청 중 선택된 하나 이상일 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명은 상기 중질유분이 아스팔트이고, 본 발명의 상기 중질유분 제조방법에 의해서 제조된 아스팔트와 골재를 혼합하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 아스콘 제조 방법을 제공한다.
본 발명의 개질방법에 따라 처리된 중질유분은 유분 내 포함된, 악취 및 미세먼지 등의 유해물질을 야기할 수 있는 유해성분이 저감된 상태이므로, 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 산업에서의 작업환경의 개선 및 상기 산업에서의 유해물질 발생을 크게 저감할 수 있다.
본 발명은 기체분배장치를 이용하여 개질 반응조 내부에 운반기체를 골고루 분산시켜 제공함으로써, 중질유분 내 저비점 성분의 기체상 물질전달을 촉진하고 이로부터 악취유발 및 유해성분이 포함된 증기의 분리 속도를 향상시킬 수 있으며, 분산제를 사용하여 상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분의 분리 속도를 더욱 향상시킬 수 있는 효과가 있다
본 발명의 방법에 따라 개질된 중질유분은 소량의 저비점 성분만 분리되고, 유분 내 분자구조들의 열분해나 화학적 반응이 지배적으로 일어나지 않기 때문에 중질유 원료로써의 특성에 큰 영향을 나타내지 않는다.
또한, 본 발명에서는 폐유의 정제과정에서 발생하는 저가 분리물인 폐기물 고형연료(Refuse-derived Fuel)를 상기 중질유분의 유해성분을 제거하기 위한 분산제로 사용하므로 중질유분 개질 공정의 경제성 향상 및 폐유의 처리 비용을 절약할 수 있다.

이하 바람직한 실시예를 통하여 본 발명을 상세히 설명하기로 한다. 이에 앞서, 본 명세서 및 청구범위에 사용된 용어나 단어는 통상적이거나 사전적인 의미로 한정해서 해석 되어서는 안되며, 발명자는 그 자신의 발명을 가장 최선의 방법으로 설명하기 위해 용어의 개념을 적절하게 정의할 수 있다는 원칙에 입각하여 본 발명의 기술적 사상에 부합하는 의미와 개념으로 해석되어야만 한다. 따라서, 본 명세서에 기재된 실시예의 구성은 본 발명의 가장 바람직한 예들에 불과할 뿐이고 본 발명의 기술적 사상을 모두 대변하는 것은 아니므로, 본 출원시점에 있어서 이들을 대체할 수 있는 다양한 균등물과 변형예들이 있을 수 있음을 이해하여야 한다.
본 발명에서 ‘악취유발 및 유해 성분’이라 함은 악취를 유발하는 물질 및 악취를 유발하지는 않으나 유해한 물질을 모두 포괄하여 일컫는 것이며, 중질유분을 원료로 하는 공정 중에서 발생하는 직접적인 미세/초미세 먼지(PM2.5 및 PM10) 및 상기 미세/초미세 먼지를 발생시키는 물질도 포함된다.
본 발명에서는 가열 중질유분이 원료로 적용되는 공정에서 발생하는 악취나 유해성분들은 아스팔텐을 포함한 중질분자들의 착물(complex)에 포함된 저분자량 화합물로부터 발생한다는 사실에 주목하여, 중질 원료 내 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 포함된 증기를 미리 효과적으로 제거하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 크게 저감된 중질유분의 제조 방법에 관한 것이다.
상기 중질유분은 대표적인 예로서, 원유 정제공정 중 감압 증류탑(예를 들면, 약 25 내지 100 mmHg에서 얻어지고, 약 813.15 K 이상의 대기압 등가 비점을 가짐)의 바닥 유분인 감압 잔사유(vacuum residue), 석유화학산업에서 발생하는 열분해유(pyrolysis fuel oil), 석탄의 건류로부터 발생하는 콜타르(coal tar) 등 각종 산업의 하류에서 발생 또는 최종적으로 남는 물질 중 하나이거나, 상온에서 검은색의 반고체 혹은 액체 상태로 존재하는 아스팔트 혹은 자연에 존재하는 천연 역청(bitumen) 등을 예로 들 수 있다.
특히 아스팔트는 도로포장재부터 지붕 방수재와 같은 소규모 소재에 이르기까지 각종 산업에 널리 쓰이는데, 도로포장을 위해서는 모래, 자갈 등의 골재를 아스팔트와 섞은 아스팔트 콘크리트(아스콘)의 형태로 사용된다. 이러한 아스콘 소재를 생산함에 있어서는 중질유분인 아스팔트를 가열하여 흐름성이 있는 상태로 골재와 혼합하게 되는데, 이때 가열된 중질유분, 즉, 아스팔트로부터 악취유발 및 유해 증기 성분이 다량 그리고 연속적으로 발생하게 된다.
상기 악취 유발 및 유해 증기 성분은 주로 휘발성 유기화합물(VOCs)로써, 아스팔트 저장조에서 발생하는 휘발성 유기화합물은 BTX를 포함한 다환방향족 탄화수소물(PAHs), 황화물(티오에테르(R-S-R`)나 알킬메르캅탄 (R-SH), 황화수소, 설파이드 등), 각종 산화물(알데하이드, 아세테이트, 케톤류), 그 외 질소화합물 등이 될 수 있다. 본 발명에서는 중질유분 내의 상기 악취 유발 및 유해 증기 성분들을 미리 제거하여 상기 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서 악취유발 및 유해 증기 성분의 발생을 원천적으로 차단할 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법은 (a) 중질유분 개질반응조 내부에 저장되어 있는 중질유분을 개질 반응온도까지 가열하는 중질유분 가열단계; (b) 상기 중질유분 개질반응조 내부에 저장되어 있는 가열된 중질유분 내로 운반기체를 분산시켜 공급하는 운반기체 공급단계; (c) 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부에서 가열된 중질유분 내 악취유발 및 유해성분이 운반기체와 함께 중질유분 개질 반응조 외부로 배출되는 악취유발 및 유해성분 배출단계;를 포함한다.
본 발명의 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법은 상기 (c) 단계 후, (d) 중질유분으로부터 분리 탈기된 악취유발 및 유해성분을 상기 운반기체로부터 분리하는 분리 단계;를 더 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 (d) 단계에서 분리된 운반기체는 다시 상기 (b)단계로 되돌려, 중질유분 내의 악취유발 및 유해성분을 분리 탈기시키기 위한 운반기체로 재사용하는 운반기체 순환 단계가 더 포함될 수 있다.
이하 구체적으로 상기 단계를 설명한다.
상기 (a) 단계는 중질유분을 적절한 개질 온도로 가열하여 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 휘발될 수 있도록 하는 단계이다. 상기 개질온도는 개질 반응조 내 중질유분이 융해되어 고상에서 액상의 흐름이 발생되기 시작하는 온도 이상, 중질유분의 구성성분이 열분해되기 시작하는 온도 이하의 범위인 것이 바람직하며, 더 바람직하게는 상기 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서의 공정 조업 온도 이상, 중질유분의 변성온도 이하의 범위이다. 예로서, 상기 중질유분이 아스콘 제조시 사용되는 아스팔트인 경우, 아스콘을 제조 공정에서의 아스팔트 가열온도가 180℃ 이면, 상기 개질 온도의 하한은 180℃ 이며, 아스팔트는 330℃를 초과하는 온도에 노출될 경우, 심각한 열분해 반응에 의해 아스팔트의 물리적 특성이 달라질 수 있으므로, 상기 개질 설정온도는 330℃ 이하의 온도로 둘 수 있으며, 공정 효율 및 물성 측면에서 바람직하게는 200 ~ 325℃의 범위, 더욱 바람직하게는 250 ~ 315℃의 범위일 수 있다.
또한, 상기 (a) 단계에서 중질유분과 함께, 중질유분 내 구성 물질들의 분산제를 첨가하여 중질유분 내 악취유발 및 유해성분의 분리를 더욱 가속화 시킬 수 있다.
전술한 바와 같이 중질유분 내 구성성분은 극성이 높은 아스팔텐이 응집된 형태로 중심에 위치하고, 레진이 제한적으로 이들을 둘러쌓아 비극성 탄화수소물로부터 경계층을 형성하는 core-shell 구조의 콜로이드 형태(colloidal state)를 이루며 상기 core-shell 구조의 콜로이드 내에는 높은 극성을 갖는 레진 및 아스팔텐과 같은 거대분자뿐만 아니라, 매우 다양한 저비점 화학물들 또한 상당 수 갇혀 있으며, 중질유분을 활용하기 위한 후속 공정, 예로서 중질유분 중의 하나인 아스팔트를 아스콘으로 제조하기 위한 가열 공정에서처럼 중질유분을 가열하게 되면 상기 코어-쉘 구조의 콜로이드 내에 갇혀 있던 저비점 화학물 들이 제한적인 속도로 배출되면서 악취 등 환경 오염을 유발하게 된다.
이때, 상기 중질유분에 아스팔텐 분산제로서 양극성 첨가제 혹은 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제를 첨가하게 되면, 중질유분 내 구성 물질들의 분산이 개선된 상태에서 악취유발 및 유해 성분 등을 운반기체를 이용하여 중질유분으로부터 탈기시키게 되므로, 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 더욱 효과적으로 제거할 수 있다.
상기 양극성 첨가제는 1.1 디바이 (Debye) 이상의 쌍극자 모멘트를 갖는 극성 그룹과 쌍극자 모멘트가 0.5 디바이 (Debye) 이하인 비극성 그룹을 동일 분자 내 갖는 것이어야 바람직하며, 이들 그룹이 구조적으로 대칭을 이루어 알짜 쌍극자 모멘트의 상쇄가 일어나지 않는 것이 바람직하다. 알짜 상극자 모멘트는 0.6 디바이 이상이 바람직하다. 이러한 첨가제의 적용 대상 원료가 소수성(hydrophobic)을 띄는 중질유분이므로, 물질 자체의 성질은 소수성 또는 친유성(oil soluble)을 갖도록 하는 것이 바람직하다.
더욱 상세하게는 극성 그룹의 쌍극자 모멘트는, 이에 한정되지 않으나, 1.1 디바이 이상, 또는, 1.1 디바이 내지 10 디바이, 1.1 디바이 내지 7 디바이, 1.1 디바이 내지 5 디바이, 또는 1.1 디바이 내지 3 디바이 일 수 있다. 비극성 그룹의 쌍극자 모멘트는 정의에 따라 0에 근사한 값을 갖고, 이에 한정되지 않으나, 극성그룹의 쌍극자 모멘트의 상대 세기에 따라 0.5 디바이 이하, 0.1 디바이 이하 또는 0.01 디바이 이하 일 수 있다. 양극성 첨가제의 알짜 쌍극자 모멘트는, 이에 한정되지 않으나, 0.6 디바이 이상일 수 있으며, 0.6 디바이 내지 10 디바이, 0.6 디바이 내지 5 디바이 또는, 0.6 디바이 내지 2 디바이 일 수 있다.
상기 양극성 첨가제의 극성 그룹은 질소나 산소로부터 유도되는 작용기를 예로 들 수 있고, 비극성 그룹은 선형 또는 다분산 지수(polydispersity index, P.I.; Mw/Mn)가 1에 가까운 고분자 형태의 사슬형 탄화수소 또는 이로부터 유도된 형태의 구조를 예로 들 수 있다. 이러한 양극성 첨가제는 중질유분의 성상이나 기능에 영향을 주지 않는 것이 바람직하며 원료 대비 소량을 사용하여도 중질유분 내 극성 분자들의 분산 효과가 두드러지게 나타나는 것이 바람직하다. 이는 중질유분 전체에 분산이 잘되지만 극성분자에 선택적인 상호인력이 두드러지지 않는 물질(예: 친유성 분산촉매)이나, 친수성(hydrophilicity)과 친유성(hydrophobicity)을 동시에 갖고 있는 물질(예: 계면활성제)과는 달리 구분될 수 있다. 극성 기능기와 비극성 기능기가 직접 결합된 형태일 수도 있으나, 연결그룹 (connecting group 또는 link)에 의해 수식된 형태일 수도 있다.
상기 양극성 첨가제는, 예로서, 아민(amine), 이미드(imide), 아미드(amide), 알코올, 페놀, 에스테르, 메타아크릴레이트(methacrylate) 등의 단일 또는 복수 조합으로 이루어지는 단분자 또는 고분자로부터 선택된 1종 이상의 극성 그룹과 에틸렌, 프로필렌, 이소부틸렌, 디엔(diene), 스타이렌(styrene)으로부터 유도되고 수평균 분자량 (The number average molecular weight)으로 100 내지 500,000을 갖는 단독중합체(homo-polymer) 또는 공중합체(co-polymer) 중 선택된 1종 이상의 비극성 그룹의 조합으로 이루어진 고분자 형태로 준비될 수 있다.
구체적으로, 상기 양극성 첨가제는 폴리알킬렌 호박산 이미드; 알킬 페놀계 분산제; 폴리아크릴계 분산제; 우레아, 이미다졸린, 이미다졸, 테트라졸, 테트라졸린, 테트라졸론, 락탐, 술탐, 티오우레아, 트리아졸, 트리아졸린, 피리돈, 피리미돈, 디하이드로피리미딘, 테트라하이드로피리미딘, 피라졸, 이미다졸린, 디하이드로피리미디논, 트리아진, 디하이드로트리아진, 테트라하이드로트리아진, 옥사디아졸, 티아디아졸, 디하이드로옥사디아졸, 디하이드로티아디아졸, 살리실레이트 등의 형태를 띄는 극성 헤드그룹(head group) 중 어느 하나 이상을 포함하는 고분자; 중 적어도 어느 하나 이상을 포함할 수 있다.
한편, (a) 단계에서 첨가되는 아스팔텐 분산제는 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제일 수 있다. 상기 폐유 유래의 아스팔텐 분산제는 폐유의 증류과정으로부터 얻어지는 탑하부 잔사물로, 투입된 폐유를 기준으로 5 내지 50 중량%에 해당할 수 있으며, API degree는 5 내지 30일 수 있다. 얻어진 탑하부 잔사물은 상기 전처리 후 혹은 전처리 없이 중질유분의 흐름성이 유지될 수 있는 30℃ 내지 200℃의 온도 범위에서 중질유분과 혼합하여 아스팔텐을 고분산하기 위한 첨가제로 사용된다.
상기 폐유 유래의 아스팔텐 분산제를 얻는 방법에 대하여 도 1을 참고하여 설명한다.
상기 폐유는 통상 폐식용유 등과 같은 식품 부산물, 높은 폴리클로리네이티드비페닐을 함유하는 유분, 그 외 정제를 통하여 연료유로 재생이나 회수가 어려운 유분을 포함하지 않는다. 일반적으로 폐윤활유가 폐유 총량 중 75% 이상의 비중으로 배출되며, 연마유, 절삭유, 연료유, 아스팔트유, 전기절연유, 그리스, 방청유 등을 포함하기도 한다.
도 1에서, 공급 폐유(1)는 원심분리나 여과와 같은 물리적인 방법을 통해 고형분을 물리적으로 분리하는 공정(20)을 거친다. 분리된 고형분(2)은 기계적 마찰이나 유분의 산화에 의해 형성되는 고체 형태를 띄는 물질로써, 거대화된 고분자, 염, 금속 등을 포함할 수 있다. 고형분이 제거된 폐유 흐름(3)은 240℃ 이하로 유지되는 저온 증류기(30)를 통해 수분이 제거되고 탑 하류를 통해 고온 증류기(40)로 공급 된다. 원료의 연속적인 처리가 요구되지 않을 때는 비점을 달리하는 온도 구간에 따라 수분의 제거와 탄화수소 유분의 분리가 단일 증류기 내에서 가능하다.
고온 증류기(40)에서는 240℃ 내지 590℃의 비점 분포를 갖는 유분의 분리가 이루어지도록 하는 것이 바람직하며, 에너지를 저감하기 위해 감압 하에서 증류를 실시하는 것이 효율적이다. 이때 고온 증류기(40) 탑 상부의 탄화수소 증기 흐름(6)은 컨텐서(50)을 거쳐 액체 유분으로 회수(7)되며 이는 유분의 특성에 따라 대체 연료유, 재생 기유 등으로 활용될 수 있다. 탑 하부의 흐름(8)은 고비점의 탄화수소 유분을 포함하는 잔사 성분으로서, 투입된 폐유를 기준으로 5 내지 50 중량%가 되도록 증류를 실시한다.
상기 얻어진 탑 하부의 흐름(8)인 폐유 증류 잔사물을 그대로 본 발명의 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제로 사용할 수도 있으나, 필요에 따라 신규의 분산제를 추가로 공급(9)하여 흐름성을 갖도록 30℃ 내지 200℃의 온도로 승온된 교반조(60)에서 혼합한 후 잘 분산된 형태의 혼합 첨가제의 형태로 수득(10)할 수 있다. 상기 신규의 분산제는 전술한 양극성 첨가제 일 수 있다.
상기 (a) 단계에서 분산제를 중질유분과 혼합 할 경우, 필요에 따라 교반을 실시하여 분산제가 중질유분 내로 고르게 분산되도록 한다. 이때 교반은 당 기술 분야에 공지된 수단을 사용할 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 중질유분으로부터 악취유발 및 유해성분의 제거 과정에서의 분산제의 효과를 중질유분이 아스팔트인 경우를 예시로 하여 설명한다.
아스팔트는 아스콘을 구성하는 유기성 원료로 점착성이 있으며, 80℃ 이상으로 가열하면 유동성을 갖지만 상온에서는 매우 높은 점도를 갖는 흑색 또는 흑갈색의 반고체 물질로써 천연 또는 석유의 정제공정으로부터 얻어지며 고비점 화합물이 다량 포함된 중질 유분이다.
해당 유분은 고비점 화합물 이외에도 매우 다양한 화학종으로 구성된 혼합물로서, 그 구성성분은 주로 SARA (Saturates, Aromatics, Resins, Asphaltenes)로 크게 분류 할 수 있다.
상기 구성성분 중 아스팔텐은 분자량이 크고, 높은 극성을 띄고 있으며, 악취를 직접적으로 유발할 수 있는 이종원자(heteroatom; 황 및 질분)의 대부분을 구성하고 있다. 또한, 상기 아스팔트 내 구성성분들은 도 2의 좌측에 도시된 바와 같이 극성이 높은 아스팔텐이 응집된 형태로 중심에 위치하고, 레진이 제한적으로 이들을 둘러쌓아 비극성 탄화수소물로부터 경계층을 형성하는 코어-쉘(core-shell) 구조의 콜로이드 형태(colloidal state)를 띄는 것으로 알려지고 있다.
이와 같이 아스팔텐 등이 클러스터를 형성하게 되면, 상기 클러스터 내에 악취유발 및 유해 성분 등이 상기 클러스터 내에 존재할 수 있으므로 단순 가열로는 아스팔트로부터 분리, 탈기되기 어려울 수 있다.
그러나 상기 분산제로서 양극성 첨가제 혹은 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제를 첨가하게 되면, 도 2의 우측에 도시된 바와 같이 아스팔텐의 고분산이 유도될 수 있으며, 아스팔텐이 군집체(cluster)로 존재하지 않고 분산되게 되면, 군집체(cluster) 내에 존재하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 용이하게 탈기 될 수 있게 된다.
따라서, 상기 (a) 단계에서 중질유분에 아스팔텐 분산제를 첨가하게 되면, 분산제 미 첨가시에 비하여 악취 유발 및 유해성분의 제거가 더욱 용이해지는 효과가 있다.
상기 아스팔텐 분산제의 첨가량은 중질유분과 아스팔텐 분산제가 혼합된 혼합물 중 아스팔텐 분산제의 함량이 0.01wt% 내지 5wt%가 되도록 할 수 있다. 아스팔텐 분산제의 함량이 0.01wt% 미만으로 존재하게 되면 원료 내 극성 분자들이 충분히 분산되지 않아 효과가 미미할 수 있으며, 중량비로 5wt%를 초과하면 사용량 대비 분산 효과가 감소하며, 중질유 원료의 물성이 달라질 수 있다. 아스팔텐 분산제가 폐유 유래 분산제만을 포함할 경우에는 아스팔텐 분산제의 함량은 0.1wt% 내지 5wt% 일 수 있다.
상기 (b) 단계는 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부에 저장되어 있는 가열된 중질유분으로 운반기체를 분산시켜 공급하는 운반기체 공급단계이다.
상기 (b) 단계에서 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부로 분산 유입된 운반기체는 중질유분 내로 버블링 되면서, 레진 및 아스팔텐 등 중질분자들과 함께 상호인력에 의해 형성된 거대 콜로이드 상(colloidal cluster)으로부터 저비점 성분의 탈기 및 물질전달을 촉진하게 되며, 운반기체 내로 확산 및 포화된 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 포함된 유증기는 운반기체와 혼합기체 형태를 이루며, 상기 혼합기체의 자연 및 강제대류에 의해 다음단계인 (c) 단계에서 더욱 빠른 속도로 개질 반응조 외부로 배출되어, 원료 내 악취유발 및 유해 성분의 잔존량을 급격히 감소시키게 된다. 상기 (b) 단계에서는 상기 운반기체로 인해 거대 콜로이드 상(colloidal cluster)으로부터 탈기된 저비점 성분이 다시 주변의 레진이나 아스팔텐들과 상호 인력에 의해 거대 콜로이드 상내로 재병합되기 전에 운반기체에 의해 운반되므로 중질유분으로부터 비가역적으로 분리될 수 있게 된다.
상기 운반기체로는 중질유분의 산화를 방지하기 위하여 활성이 없는 불활성 기체인 것이 바람직하며, 주로 헬륨, 아르곤, 질소 가스 등으로 이루어질 수 있으나, 개질 과정 중 연속적으로 공급하는 방식이 아닌, 개질 과정이 적용되기 이전 또는 초기 단계에 일회성으로 제공하여 폐쇄된 시스템 내에서 운반기체가 재순환되는 경우 산소가 포함된 공기를 사용하여도 무방하다.
상기 (c)단계는 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부에서 가열된 중질유분 내 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 운반기체와 함께 중질유분 개질 반응조 외부로 배출되는 악취유발 및 유해 성분 배출단계이다. 이때, 상기 배출단계에서 운반기체 내에는 중질유분의 미립자가 동반될 수 있으므로 디미스터 등을 사용하여 중질유분 미립자는 미리 포집하여 과도하게 중질유분이 손실되는 것을 방지할 수 있다.
상기 (d) 단계는 중질유분으로부터 분리 탈기된 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 상기 운반기체로부터 분리하는 분리 단계일 수 있다.
상기 (d) 단계에서의 분리수단은 통상적인 수단을 사용할 수 있으며, 예로서, 흡착이나, 산화, 스크러빙, 혹은 냉각 방식을 사용하여 운반기체로부터 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 분리할 수 있다.
상기 (d) 단계에서 분리된 운반기체는 상기 (b)단계의 중질유분 개질 반응조로 되돌려 재사용할 수 있다.
상기 개질 (b) 단계 및 (c)단계의 지속시간은 지속시간은 중질유분의 양과 운반기체의 공급량 등에 따라 달라질 수 있으나 대체적으로 1~24시간 동안 지속될 수 있다.
또한 본 발명은 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분을 제조하는 제조 시스템을 제공한다.
본 발명의 제조 시스템은 내부에 저장되는 중질유분을 가열하는 가열 수단을 포함하며, 내부로 공급되는 운반기체가 가열된 중질유분 내 악취유발 및 유해 성분과 함께 외부로 배출되는 중질유분 개질 반응조; 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부로 운반기체를 공급하는 운반기체 공급부; 상기 운반기체 공급부에서 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부로 공급되는 운반기체를 분산시키는 운반기체 분산부; 및 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조에서 배출되는 운반기체로부터 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 분리하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부; 를 포함하여 구성된다.
또한, 본 발명의 제조 시스템은 상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부에서 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 분리된 운반기체를 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조로 재 공급하는 운반기체 순환부;를 더 포함하여 구성될 수 있으며, 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조는, 운반기체가 중질유분 개질 반응조 외부로 배출되기 전에 운반기체에 포함되어 있는 중질유분 미립자를 필터링하는 디미스터를 추가적으로 포함할 수 있다.
상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부는, 운반기체로부터 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 분리하기 위한 것으로, 흡착제, 스크러버, 분리막, 냉각기 중 적어도 하나 이상의 수단을 이용하여, 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조에서 배출되는 운반기체로부터 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 분리할 수 있다.
도 3은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따라 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분을 제조하는 시스템을 설명하기 위한 도면이다.
도 3에 도시되어 있는 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따른 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 시스템은, 중질유분 개질 반응조(100), 운반기체 공급부(120), 운반기체 분산부(110), 악취 성분 및 유해 성분 분리부(130)를 포함하여 구성되며, 운반기체 순환부(140)를 더 포함하여 구성될 수 있다.
상기 중질유분 개질 반응조(100)는 내부 공간에 중질유분이 위치하며, 위치된 중질유분으로부터 악취유발 및 유해성분이 포함된 물질을 탈기하기 위해, 가열 수단(103), 운반기체 유입구(101) 및 운반기체 배출구(102)를 포함하여 구성된다.
보다 구체적으로는, 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조(100)에서는, 상기 가열 수단(103)에 의해 내부에 위치된 중질유분 혼합물이 가열되어 중질유분 내부 콜로이드 상으로부터 저비점 성분의 분리와 물질 전달이 촉진되며, 이는 다시 개질 반응조(100) 내부로 공급되는 운반기체에 의해 증기상 형태로 이송된다. 유동화된 중질유분 내부로부터 탈기된 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 포함된 유증기는 운반기체에 의해 반응기 외부로 연속적으로 배출된다.
이때, 상기 개질 반응조의 중질유분에 아스팔텐 분산제로 양극성 첨가제 및/또는 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제를 미리 정량하여 가한 뒤 혼합된 혼합액을 투입하거나 개질 반응조(100) 내에 중질유분 원료와 상기 아스팔텐 분산제를 함께 투입한 후 가열 수단(103)에 의해 내부에 위치된 중질유분 혼합물을 가열하게 된다. 이렇게 아스팔텐 분산제가 더 투입될 경우, 분산제에 의하여 중질유분 내의 아스팔텐이 고분산 되므로 악취유발 및 유해 성분의 분리는 더욱 가속화 될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조(100)는, 가열 수단(103)에 의해 개질 조건을 제공하는 데 있어서, 중질유분이 흐름성을 유지하면서도, 상기 중질유분의 특성 변화가 지배적으로 발생하지 않으며, 중질유분으로서 기능할 수 있는 최대한의 온도 이하의 범위로 유지되도록 하는 것이 유리하다. 바람직하게는, 상기 중질유분의 개질 온도를 상기 중질유분이 원료로 사용되는 공정에서 설정 필요 온도 이상으로 가열함으로써, 상기 중질유분이 원료로 사용되는 공정 또는 이를 활용하는 현장에서 발생할 수 있는 유증기(악취 유발 및 유해 성분)를 미리 제거할 수 있다. 상기 중질유분의 개질을 고온에서 실시하면 악취 유발 및 유해성분의 제거 정도 및 제거 속도는 커질 수 있으나 중질유분을 구성하는 다수의 탄화수소물이 분해 변성될 수 있으므로, 지배적인 열분해가 일어나지 않으나 악취 유발 및 유해성분을 이루는 저비점 성분의 물리적 탈기가 일어날 수 있을 정도의 높은 온도를 유지하도록 하여야 한다.
상기 개질반응의 지속시간은 악취 유발 및 유해성분의 목표 제거량에 도달할 때까지 지속한다. 상기 지속시간은 개질하여야 하는 중질유분의 양과 운반기체의 공급량 등에 따라 달라질 수 있으나 대체적으로 1~24시간 동안 지속될 수 있다.
상기 운반기체 공급부(120)는, 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조(100) 내부로 운반기체를 공급하는 수단으로, 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 기술을 사용하여 구성할 수 있다. 상기 운반기체를 선택함에 있어서 산소를 포함하는 경우는 가열된 원료의 부분적 산화반응에 의해 특성 변화가 일어날 수 있다. 따라서 중질유분의 산화를 방지하기 위하여 활성이 없는 불활성 기체인 것이 바람직하며, 주로 헬륨, 아르곤, 질소 가스 등으로 이루어질 수 있으나, 개질 과정 중 연속적으로 공급하는 방식이 아닌, 개질 과정이 적용되기 이전 또는 초기 단계에 일회성으로 제공하여 폐쇄된 시스템 내에서 재순환되는 경우 공기를 사용하여도 무방하다. 이러한 운반기체 공급부(120)는 고압의 가스를 저장할 수 있는 압력용기 등의 장치가 사용될 수도 있다.
또한, 상기 운반기체 분산부(110)는 개질 반응조(100) 내부로 공급되는 운반기체를 넓은 영역에 걸쳐 분산시키는 것으로, 이에 의해 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조(100) 내부로 분산된 운반기체가 유분 내에 골고루 분산되어 버블링 되면서, 중질유분 내부에서 기화되는 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 포함한 유증기를 더욱 효과적으로 개질 반응기 외부로 이송, 배출할 수 있게 한다.
이와 같이 상기 운반기체가 중질유분 내부로부터 기화되는 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 포함한 유증기를 운반하여 이송함으로써, 극성이 높은 아스팔텐이나 레진과 같은 거대 분자들과 함께 콜로이드 상을 구성하여 중질 유분으로부터 탈기가 쉽게 일어나지 않으며, 고온이더라도 매우 제한적인 속도와 조성의 일부만 분리될 수 있는 상기 유해 성분들을 공정적으로 유의미한 시간 내에 제거할 수 있게 된다.
이를 위하여 상기 분산부(110)는 다수의 기공(perforated hole)이 형성된 분산판 형태(distributor), 하나의 운반기체 공급 코일로부터 다수개의 분사 노즐(orifice nozzle)로 구성된 형태 (sparger) 등 통상적인 기체 분산수단 중 적어도 하나 이상의 수단을 사용하여 구성될 수 있다. 또한, 탈기를 돕기 위해 반응조 내에 위치한 원료 유분을 직접 유동시키거나 물리적으로 교반하는 방법을 동시에 적용할 수 있다.
상기 운반기체 분산부(110)에서 분사되는 운반기체의 유량은 중질유분의 종류에 따라 달라질 수 있으나, 중질유분 원료 단위 질량 당 표준상태 유량의 비로 0.05 내지 90 sccm/(g of feedstock), 바람직하게는 0.1 내지 10sccm/(g of feedstock)으로 할 수 있다.
한편, 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조(100)는 내부에 디미스터(104)를 추가적으로 포함할 수 있으며, 상기 디미스터(104)를 이용하여, 운반기체가 중질유분 개질 반응조(100) 외부로 배출되기 전에 운반기체에 포함될 수도 있는 미립자를 필터링하거나 개질 과정 중 발생할 수 있는 원료의 비등으로부터 고비점 성분의 지나친 유실을 방지할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 분리하기 위한 악취유발 및 유해성분 분리부(130)는 상기 개질 반응조(100)에서 배출되는 운반기체로부터 악취유발 및 유해 성분의 분리하거나 분해하여 제거하는 것으로, 흡착제, 산화제, 스크러버, 분리막, 냉각기 등의 통상적인 분리수단 중 적어도 하나 이상의 수단을 이용하여, 상기 개질 반응조(100)에서 배출되는 운반기체로부터 악취 및 유해성분이 포함된 유증기를 제거한다.
더욱 상세하게는, 상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부(130)는 운반기체 내 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 스크러버(scrubber)를 이용하여 흡수하거나, 촉매 또는 흡착제를 이용하여 흡착하거나, 냉각기를 이용하여 액화하는 방식을 통해 운반기체 내 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 포함된 유증기를 분리 제거할 수 있다.
본 발명은 상기와 같은 분리 수단 중 흡착제를 이용하여 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 흡착하는 데 있어서, 폐촉매를 이용할 수도 있다. 이때 사용되는 폐촉매로 화학산업 중에서 배출되는 알루미나계 또는 제올라이트계 촉매 등을 사용할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부(130)는, 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 분리 제거하는 것 외에도, 산화 촉매를 적용하여 상기 아스팔트 개질 반응조(100)에서 배출되는 운반기체부터 발생하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 포함된 물질을 덜 유해하거나 보다 높은 비점을 갖는 물질로 직접 화학 전환하도록 구성될 수도 있다.
상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부(130)는 분리된 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 연속적으로 배출하는 배출구를 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 운반기체 순환부(140)는 상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부(130)에서 유증기가 분리 또는 제거된 운반기체를 상기 개질 반응조(100)로 재공급하는 것으로, 상기 구성을 통하여 상기 운반기체 분산부(110)에 의해 공급된 운반기체는 계외로 배출되지 않고 상기 운반기체 순환부(140)에 의해 개질 반응조(100)와 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부(130)를 순환할 수 있게 되므로 외부로부터 지속적으로 운반기체를 공급받지 않아도 되며, 운반기체로서 공기를 사용하더라도 운반기체 순환 과정 초반에 공기 중에 존재하는 산소는 원료의 매우 극소량과 산화반응을 통해 소모되고, 질소 만이 잔존하게 되므로 운반기체로서 공기만을 적용하여도 본 발명에 따르는 개질의 성능 및 효과가 나타날 수 있다.
본 발명에서의 중질유분이 아스팔트이고, 상기 아스팔트가 아스콘의 원료로서 사용되는 경우, 본 발명의 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법은 아스콘 제조 공정, 예컨대 아스팔트를 골재와 혼합하는 아스콘 혼합부를 포함하여 구성될 수 있다.
이하, 실험예, 실시예 및 비교예를 통하여 본 발명을 더욱 상세히 설명한다.
<실시예 1~10 및 비교예 1~4>
상기 실시예 및 비교예들은 본 발명의 개질방법 중 아스팔텐 분산제를 사용하지 않은 개질방법의 효과를 보여주기 위한 것이다.
상기 실시예 및 비교예 들에서는 중질유분으로 아스콘 제조 원료로 사용되는 에쓰오일사로부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 중질유분을 원료로 하여 실험하였으며, 아스팔텐 분산제를 중질유분에 첨가하지 않은 상태로 개질반응을 실시하였다.
에쓰오일사로부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 중질유분의 특성은 표 1에 제시된 바와 같다. 원료의 특성 분석을 위해 구성 유기원소 및 그 함량을 원소분석기(모델명: Thermo Scientific Flash EA-2000 Organic Elemental Analyzer, 감지기: Thermal Conductivity Detector)를 사용하여 분석하였고, SARA(Saturates, Aromatics, Resins and Asphaltenes) 함량분석은 SARA Analyzer (모델명: Latroscan MK6s), 비점분포는 ASTM D7169 (GC-Simdis) 방법을 사용하고, 난분해성 잔류 탄소량 (Conradson carbon residue; CCR)은 ASTM D189 방법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 아스팔트 원료는 상온에서 고체 상태이며, 원료를 정량하여, 특성을 분석하거나 악취유발 및 유해 성분의 발생량을 측정하거나, 개질 반응의 원료로 공급함에 있어서 밀폐된 용기 내에 담아 80℃이상으로 예열된 오븐에 3시간 이상 방치하여 흐름성을 유지하도록 한 후 사용하였다.

<실험예 1> 가열 중질유분에서 발생하는 악취 유발 및 유해 성분의 분석(평형조성법)
중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정, 예로서, 아스콘의 제조 시 발생하는 악취 유발 및 유해 성분을 수집 및 분석을 위해 본 발명에 따른 개질 전 또는 개질 후 아스팔트 원료 100g을 180℃로 유지되는 250ml 반응기에 담아 최대 5시간까지 두었다. 상기 플라스크의 상부 기상 공간(headspace)에는 저비점을 갖는 유증기가 확산되어 유증기 농도가 형성되며, 일정 시간 경과 후에는 액상과 평형상태를 갖는 농도의 유증기가 존재하게 된다. 상기 유증기는 응축 방지를 위해 180℃ 이상으로 가열된 6-port 밸브에 장착된 샘플 루프(1 ml) 내에 머무르게 한 후, 측정 시점에 유로를 변경하여 질량 스펙트럼 검출기가 연결된 기체크로마토그래피 (GC-MS; gas chromatography w/ mass spectrum detector and HP 50+ column)에 주입하여 성분들의 머무름 특성을 분석하였으며, 불꽃이온화 검출기(FID)가 장착된 별도의 기체크로마토그래피를 이용하여 동일한 분석조건(HP 50+ column) 하 각각의 성분에 대한 정량 분석을 실시하였다. 기상 성분의 농도는 Refinery Gas Analyzer (RGA; Agilent 5184-3538, 5184-3543) 표준가스를 사용하여 검량하였다.
<실험예 2> 중질유분 개질 반응
중질유분의 개질 반응은 500ml 용량의 SUS Liner가 장착될 수 있는 갖는 고온, 고압 반응기 (제작사: Ari Instrument, 모델: SCH reactor 500 w/ data gathering tool)를 개질 반응조로 사용하였다. 개질온도는 열전쌍을 사용하여 감지하였으며 내부 개질 반응조의 온도를 근접하여 탐침하도록 보호관(thermowell)에 삽입하여 측정하였다. 내부 개질온도는 외벽을 통해 열전달이 일어날 수 있는 가열로를 통해 열원 공급이 이루어졌으며 다중루프 PID 제어 프로그램을 이용하여 원료의 개질 단계에서 제어 온도가 ±1℃ 이내로 유지되도록 하였다. 초기온도(80℃)에서 개질온도에 도달하는데 최대 20분이 소요되었으며, 목적 온도에 도달하는 시점부터 운반기체를 공급하여 개질을 실시하였다. 운반기체는 질소 기체를 외부에서 제공하거나, 초기 기체가 연속적으로 재순환 공급이 가능하도록 기체이송펌프 (모델명: KNF N022ATE)를 설치하여 폐쇄루프(closed loop) 내에서 공급하였으며, 공급기체의 유량 조절은 질량유량제어기(mfc)를 사용하여 제어하였다. 개질 반응조 내로 유입되는 기체는 하부에 위치한 다공성 기체 분산관(sparger)를 이용하여 분산 공급하였다. 반응기의 상부로부터 유증기와 운반기체가 혼합 형태로 기상이 배출되였으며, 고비점 유분의 유실을 방지하기 위해 SUS316 소재의 디미스터를 위치하였다. 혼합 기체는 외부관을 통해 -10℃이하의 냉각액이 외부에서 연속적으로 흐르도록 설계된 이중자켓 구조의 기상 응축기 및 수집용기의 내부를 통과하여 액화된 유증기만 농축, 수집할 수 있도록 하였으며, 분리된 비활성 운반기체는 반응기 내부로 기체이송펌프를 통해 재공급될 수 있도록 구성 하였다. 개질반응에 사용된 아스팔트 원료는 80℃ 이상으로 가열하여 150g을 반응조에 투입하고, 마그네틱 드라이브에 의해 원료를 50rpm의 속도로 초기에 교반하였으며, 목적하는 개질 온도 도달 시점에 교반속도를 300rpm으로 변경 유지하였다.
<실험예 3> 중질유분의 열분해 온도 결정
중질유분 원료로부터 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 제거하기 위해서는 고온의 개질조건이 유리할 수 있으나, 지나치게 고온조건을 적용하게 되면 원료의 열분해 반응이 지배적으로 일어나므로 개질 후 원료의 비가역적 특성 변화가 크게 일어날 수 있다. 중질유분이 고온으로 가열되어 열분해 반응이 진행될 경우, 일반적으로 아스팔텐 및 레진과 같은 중질분자 외곽의 알킬 사슬구조(side alkyl chain)의 분해가 점진적으로 일어나며, 저분자량 라디칼 간 재결합(recombination)에 의해 탄소수가 4 이하이며 상온에서 기상으로 존재하는 포화탄화수소물들이 다량 생성된다. 한편, 열분해로부터 발생하는 높은 분자량의 라디칼들은 중축합(polycondensation)에 의해 고체 부산물에 해당하는 코크(coke; toluene insoluble) 또는 코크 전구체에 해당하는 고비점 화합물의 생성을 유발할 수 있으며, 생성량이 매우 소량이라도 원료의 특성을 크게 변화할 수 있다. 따라서, 열분해가 일어나지 않는 온도영역을 규명하고, 이로부터 원료 개질 조건의 탐색이 선행되어야 한다. 이를 위하여 하기와 같은 실험을 실시하였다.
상기 개질 전 중질유분 150g(에쓰오일사로부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 중질유)을 실험예 2의 개질반응기에 넣고 각 315℃, 330℃, 350℃로 유지하면서 운반기체를 사용하지 않은 상태로 12시간 방치한 후 각 생성물의 변화량을 관찰하였다.
액상 제품의 비점 특성은 ASTM D7169 (GC-Simdis)에 따라 비점 분포를 측정하여 나타낸 것이고, 기상제품의 특성은 열분해 시 생성되는 기체에 의한 압력 변화량 (ΔP; 초기 압력 대비 기체 분압의 생성률)의 측정과 함께 기체크로마토그래피에 의해 정량 분석 하였으며, 그 결과를 표 2에 나타내었다.

315℃ 이하 온도에서는 원료의 비점분포 변화만 일부 관찰되었으며, 열분해가 진행되지 않았다. 반면, 개질온도가 315℃까지는 열분해에 의한 제품 성상의 변화가 나타나지 않았으며, 330℃에서는 일부 분해 기체가 관측되며, 350℃에서는 기체의 발생량뿐만 아니라, 액상의 비점 분포 역시 상당량 변화가 관찰되었다. 이로 보아 개질은 330℃ 이하, 바람직하게는 325℃이하, 더욱 바람직하게는 315℃ 이하에서 이루어져야 원료의 성상에 큰 변화 없이 악취 및 유해성분을 저감할 수 있음을 알 수 있다.
또한, 상기 에쓰오일사로부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 중질유분 100g을 250ml의 고온고압 오토클래이브(Parr 4576A)에 채우고, 설정된 일정 온도로 유지하여 초기 압력 대비 8시간 후 압력의 증가량을 관찰하였으며, 상기 실험의 결과를 도 4에 나타내었다.
도 4에 나타난 바와 같이 원료에 가해지는 온도가 300℃ 이하에서는 압력 변화가 전혀 관찰되지 않았으며, 이러한 온도 범위에서는 원료의 가열 및 냉각을 반복하여도 열분해와 같은 화학적 반응이 진행되지 않아 동일한 특성의 아스팔트 원료 회수가 가능하다. 한편, 315℃로 유지되는 조건에서는 0.1bar의 압력변화가 발생하기 시작하며, 온도를 315℃ 이상 더 고온으로 증가시킴에 따라 급격한 압력증가가 관찰된다. 이러한 압력 변화는 다환방향족 화합물의 곁가지 사슬구조(side-chain)의 열분해에 따른 결과이며, 분해된 포화 탄화수소 조각(fragment)은 기상 화합물을 생성하며, 액체 또는 고체 형태의 원료와 상분리된 형태로 존재하게 되어 구성 성분의 일부는 비가역적 특성을 갖게 된다. 위 결과로부터 상기 AP-5 등급의 중질유분의 경우에는 원료 특성을 유지하기 위해서는 개질 온도를 300℃ 이하로 설정하는 것이 가장 바람직함을 알 수 있다.
<실시예 1~7 및 비교예 1~4>
상기 에쓰오일사로부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 개질 전 중질유분 원료 150g을 실험예 2에 따라 개질함에 있어서, 개질 반응조의 온도와 기상의 운반기체로서 공기 또는 질소의 유량속도를 표 3의 조건으로 유지하고는 12시간 동안 개질을 수행하였다. 이후 상기 운반기체의 순환을 멈추고, 계를 밀폐시킨 상태에서 상기 개질 반응조 내의 온도가 상온이 되도록 하였다.
개질 반응에 의한 영향을 분석하기 위하여 상기 상온의 시료를 실험예 2의 방법으로 분석하였으며, 그 결과는 표 3에 나타내었다.
표 3에서 운반기체 공급방식이 외부 공급으로 표시된 경우에는 외부에서 운반기체를 연속 공급하며, 개질 반응조로부터 배출된 혼합 증기로부터 유증기를 냉각기로 수집, 분리한 후, 운반기체를 개질 반응조로 재순환하지 않고 외부로 배출하였다.
비교예 2에서 재순환 유량속도를 0 sccm으로 표기된 것은 공기나 질소 흐름과 같은 운반기체의 공급이 없는 경우를 의미한다.

표 3은 개질 조건 별 회수되는 원료의 질량 및 유증기의 상대 발생량을 비교하여 나타낸 것이다. 원료 회수량은 초기 원료 투입 대비, 개질 반응조로부터 회수되는 개질 중질유분의 양으로 계산하였다. 유증기의 상대 발생량은, 개질 전 중질유분 원료 및 각각의 개질 조건에 따라 준비된 중질유분을 동일한 과정(실험예 1)으로부터 측정되는 유증기 질량의 상대적인 비를 백분율로 환산하여 나타낸 것이다.
비교예 1과 실시예 1 내지 실시예 4의 결과를 비교하면 개질에 적용된 온도가 중질유분 내 악취유발 및 유해 성분의 제거 성능에 미치는 영향을 알 수 있다. 개질 온도가 상기 중질유분이 원료로 사용되는 아스콘의 제조 온도보다 더 낮은 온도, 예컨대 비교예 1에서처럼 150℃로 유지된 상태에서 개질을 수행했을 경우, 매우 제한적인 악취유발 및 유해 성분의 저감이 가능하며 개질 전 원료 대비 유증기의 발생 감소량이 3%이하로 그 효과가 매우 미미한 편이다. 반면, 개질에 적용된 온도가 아스콘의 제조 온도 보다 높게 유지되는 경우, 특히 300℃ 이상의 개질 온도를 적용한 실시예 3과 실시예 4에 따라 제조된 개질 아스팔트의 경우, 실험예 1의 과정으로부터 포집된 유증기 발생량은 거의 없었으며 기체크로마토그래피를 사용하여 정량분석 하였을 때 악취유발 및 유해 성분의 특성 피크들 또한 두드러지게 관찰되지 않았다.
동일한 개질 조건을 유지하되, 내부 기상의 재순환에 따른 폐쇄 루프에 의해 개질을 실시한 경우(실시예 4), 그리고 비활성 운반기체의 외부 공급 및 배출을 통해 유증기 성분을 연속적인 흐름에 의해 분리하는 개방 루프(open-loop)가 적용된 경우(실시예 5)의 개질 성능을 비교해 보면, 초기 투입 원료 대비 극히 미미한 원료 회수율 (0.5 wt.% 미만) 차이가 관찰 되었으나, 측정된 유증기 발생량은 두 경우 모두 기상 생성물의 질량이 개질 전 원료의 기체 발생량 대비 0.1% 이내의 극히 소량만 배출됨을 알 수 있었다.
한편, 운반기체의 유속에 따른 개질 성능의 변화를 파악하기 위해 개질 온도를 315℃로 고정하고, 개질 공정의 운반기체의 유량을 변화하여 반복 실험(비교예 2 내지 비교예 4 및 실시예 4 내지 실시예 7)을 수행하였다. 운반기체의 흐름이 존재하지 않는 경우(비교예 2) 혹은 매우 느린 유속으로 유지되는 경우(비교예 3)에 원료의 질량 변화가 거의 없었으며, 유증기 발생량 저감에 있어서도 큰 효과가 발현되지 않아, 요구되는 정도까지 유증기를 저감하기 위해서는 매우 긴 시간이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 반면에 본 발명에 따른 실시예에서는 비교적 짧은 처리 시간인 12시간의 개질반응에 의해서도 유증기의 상대 발생량을 매우 큰 폭으로 저감시킬 수 있었다. 한편, 지나치게 높은 운반기체가 공급되는 경우(비교예 4), 많은 양의 원료가 외부로 배출 되었으며, 개질조 외부에 위치한 유증기 수집부 내로 응축된 탄화수소 성분 또한 많은 양의 고비점 성분을 포함하고 있어서, 해당 조건 하 아스팔트 원료의 개질이 타당하게 진행되었거나 악취유발 및 유해 성분만의 제거가 효과적으로 일어난 것으로 보기 어려웠다.
<개질 공정으로부터 분리된 악취유발 및 유해 성분의 조성 분석>
표 4와 표 5는 비교예 1과 실시예 4에 따라 개질을 수행함에 있어서 개질조 외부에 위치한 기상 성분의 저온 분리부로부터 회수된 유증기를 질량 스펙트럼 검출기가 장착된 기체크로마토그래피를 이용하여 각각의 성분과 조성에 대해 분석하고, 이로부터 초기 투입 중질유분 질량 중 추출된 각 성분의 농도를 물질수지에 기초하여 환산한 후 도표화 한 것이다.
상기 추출된 각 성분은 악취유발 및 유해성분외에도 포화탄화수소, 벤젠고리를 포함하지 않는 (알데히드, 케톤, 알콜, 카르복실산 등) 산화물 등 다양한 종류가 있으나, 유해성분으로 판단되는 방향족과 악취유발 성분인 황화물들만을 기재하였다.
하기 표 4는 비교예 1에서 분리된 유증기 내 존재하는 황분을 포함하는 화합물 및 방향족 화합물의 대표적 성분 및 농도를 나타낸 것이다.

총 23종이 검출되었으며, 악취유발을 하는 주요 물질(황화합물)은 1종 이상, 유해성 방향족 화합물은 5종 이상이 검출되었으며, 원료 대비 각각 7.1 ppm 및 227.1 ppm의 매우 소량만이 분리 회수될 수 있었다.

성분분석결과, 총 85종 이상이 검출 되었으며, 이들 중 악취를 유발하는 황화합물은 7종 이상으로 원료 대비 2,630 wppm을 분리할 수 있었으며, 주요 유해성분으로 구분될 수 있는 방향족 화합물은 8종 이상으로 4,385ppm의 농도가 원료로부터 분리될 수 있었다.
상기 표 4와 표 5를 대비하면 표 4에서는 낮은 온도로 인해 분리되는 악취유발 물질 및 유해성분의 종류도 많지 않으며, 동일한 시간동안(12시간) 저감된 유증기의 양도 크게 차이가 남을 알 수 있다.
이로 미루어 본원의 방법을 통한 아스팔트 원료의 개질을 통해 악취유발 및 유해성분이 크게 저감될 수 있음을 확인할 수 있다.
하기 표 6 에서, IBP(initial boiling point)는 초기비점을, FBP(final boiling point)는 최종비점을 의미한다.

표 6은 개질 온도를 달리하여 개질 공정을 적용하고, 이로부터 제조된 개질 전 또는 개질 후의 중질유분이 갖는 비점 분포 및 원소 비 구성의 차이를 나타낸 표이다. 실시예 1과 실시예 4에서 중질유분들은 상기 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 아스콘의 제조 공정 조건에 노출되어도, 악취유발 또는 유해 성분이 포함된 증기가 거의 발생하지 않는 반면, 개질에 따른 비점 분포의 변화는 크게 관찰되지 않음을 알 수 있다. 또한, 개질 전 초기 원료와 실시예에 따라 개질된 중질유분 원료의 원소분석 결과, 조성비의 큰 변화가 관찰되지 않았다. 다만, 유증기의 감소량이 매우 큰 실시예 4의 경우 황함량이 소폭 감소함을 알 수 있었는데, 이러한 결과들로부터, 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서 발생하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분들은 매우 소량이고, 유분 내에서는 느린 분리 속도를 가지며 대기 내에서는 빠른 확산 속도를 갖는 저비점 성분들로 예상할 수 있다. 또한, 본원 발명의 방법에 따라 중질유분을 개질할 경우, 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정, 예로서, 아스콘 제조공정 등에서 발생할 수 있는 악취유발 성분, 즉 저비점 영역의 황화합물만 선택적으로 제거됨을 알 수 있다.
따라서, 유분 내 분리 속도를 촉진 시키고, 발생하는 유증기를 외부에서 별도로 분리 농축하는 과정을 포함하는 본 발명의 중질유분 개질 방법은 악취유발 및 유해 성분들이 효과적으로 저감 되었거나 완전히 제거된 중질유분의 제공이 가능하다.
한편, 개질된 중질유분은 개질에 의해 중질 유분의 구성에 큰 변화가 발생되지 않아야 한다. 중질유를 구성하는 중질분자들의 조성 및 함량(아스팔텐이나 레진의 농도)이 개질 과정 중 화학적 반응에 의해 일부 변화가 발생하면 점도의 변화폭이 더욱 민감하게 달라지는 것이 일반적이다. 이로부터, 중질유분의 물리적 특성 변화를 관찰하기 위한 척도로 온도에 따른 점도 변화를 관찰할 수 있다.

표 7은 개질 전 초기 원료 및 개질을 수행한 원료들에 대해 110~170℃의 온도 범위에 걸친 점도 변위를 레오미터(제조사: Thermo Scientific, 모델: HAAKE RheoStress 6000)로 측정하여 나타낸 결과이다.
원유의 정제공정으로부터 제조되는 중질유분으로서, 아스팔트는 침입도에 따라 AP-5(침입도 60~80), AP-3(침입도 80~100)로 구분한다. 개질 전 원료는 AP-5 등급에 해당하는 아스팔트로서 100℃ 이상 온도로 가열 후, 점도 특성 변화가 20% 이하의 원료인 경우, 공용성 등급(performance grade)을 기준으로 하는 AP-5 등급의 원료 조건을 충족할 수 있다.
온도 변화에 따른 개질 전 원료 및 개질에 따른 원료들의 온도별 점도 변화를 관찰하면, 등급 변화를 가져올 정도의 편차가 보여주지 않는다.
한편, 일부 또는 전체 구성성분의 열분해가 발생하진 않았으나 고온 개질된 원료의 경우(표 7의 실시예1 및 실시예4) 온도에 따른 점도 편차가 소폭 감소하는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 이는 중질유분이 아스팔트로서, 아스콘의 제조 원료로 사용될 경우, 아스콘의 도로포설 후 계절성에 따른 포장재의 강도와 물성 변화가 보다 일정하게 유지될 수 있어서 개질된 원료가 보다 유리한 원료로 사용될 수 있음을 나타낸다.
또한, 등록특허 KR20120128914A 및 인용된 국내외 다수의 문헌보고에 따르면 아스팔트 혼합물을 포설 후 다짐되는 과정에서 다짐 온도 130~160℃에서 150~300 mPa·s가 될 때 최적의 균질 코팅이 되고, 300~400 mPa·s에서 다짐(Compaction)이 가장 잘되는 것으로 보고되고 있는데, 본원 발명에 따라 아스팔트를 개질할 경우, 해당 온도범위로 가열되었을 때의 점도가 다짐 특성을 개선할 수 있는 범위로 소폭 낮아지는 것이 예측된다. 이에 따라 본원 발명에 따라 아스팔트를 개질하여 아스콘 제조 공정에 적용하면 작업성 및 시공 후 도로 포장재의 특성도 개선할 수 있을 것으로 예상할 수 있다.
<개질 성능 개선을 위한 저비점 유증기 분리 향상 기술 적용>
중질유분 원료의 개질 과정 중 발생하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분들은 대부분 저비점 화합물로 구성되어 있으며, 운반기체의 재순환 시 개질 반응조로 재유입 되는 것을 방지하기 위해 폐촉매, 흡착제, 흡수제, 산화제, 스크러버, 분리막 등을 추가적으로 위치시킬 수 있다.
<실시예 8>
G사로부터 공급받은 석유 정제용 폐촉매 (Ni(5.2 wt.%)-Mo(24.8 wt.%)/alumina) 100g을 악취유발 및 유해성분 분리부와 운반기체 유입구 사이에 추가로 위치한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 4와 동일한 조건으로 개질하였다.
<실시예 9>
분자체 13X(제조사: Acros, Code #: 197305000) 100g을 운반기체 순환부에 추가로 위치한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 4와 동일한 조건으로 개질하였다.
<실시예 10>
NaOH 분말(흡수제) 100g을 운반기체 순환부에 추가로 위치한 것을 제외하고는 실시예 4와 동일한 조건으로 개질하였다.
표 8은 상기 실시예 4 및 실시예 8~10에 따라 개질조 내로 재순환되는 운반기체에 일부 존재할 수 있는 저비점 성분을 제거한 후, 중질유분 개질 성능의 변화를 관찰하여 나타낸 것이다.

상기 표 8에서 보이듯이 실시예 4와 동일하게 실험하되 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부와 운반기체 유입구 사이에 석유정제용 폐촉매나 분자체 13X 혹은 NaOH를 추가로 설치한 실시예 8 내지 10의 경우에 원료 회수량은 큰 변화가 없으면서도 유증기의 상대 발생량은 0으로 나타났다.
상기와 같은 상대 발생량의 변화는 실질적으로 악취 등은 매우 적은 양의 유발물질이 존재하는 경우에도 악취를 호소하는 경우가 많다는 점을 감안하면 매우 유의미한 결과를 보여주는 것이며, 상대적으로 짧은 시간에 유증기의 발생량을 줄일 수 있는 방안이 될 수 있음을 의미한다.
<실시예 11 및 비교예 5>
실시예 11 및 비교예 5는 본원 발명에 따른 악취유발 및 유해성분 저감 방법 중 아스팔텐 분산제로서 양극성 첨가제를 사용한 경우의 효과를 보여주기 위한 것이다.
실시예 11 및 비교예 5에서 사용된 중질유분은 SKE로부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 중질유분이 사용되었다.
<실시예 11>
SKE로부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 아스팔트 150g에 폴리이소부테닐 호박산 이미드가 성분의 일부로 포함된 양극성 첨가제(제조사: 이맥솔루션, 모델명: ESCA)를 1000 wppm 첨가하고, 이를 상기 실험예 2의 방법에 따라 개질 반응을 실시함에 있어서, 개질 반응조의 온도를 300℃로 유지하고 기상의 운반기체로서 외부에서 연속적으로 공급되는 질소를 사용하여 사용하였으며, 기체의 유량은 200 sccm으로 유지하면서 6시간 동안 개질을 수행하였다. 이후 상기 운반기체의 순환을 멈추고, 계를 밀폐시킨 상태에서 상기 개질 반응조 내의 온도가 상온이 되도록 하였다.
개질 반응에 의한 상대적인 유증기 발생량을 정량하기 위하여 상기 개질 반응 전과 개질 반응 후의 시료를 실험예 1과 동일한 측정 방법으로 분석하였고, 시간별 측정된 유증기의 농도 결과를 표 9에 나타내었으며, 개질 전 원료를 지속적으로 5시간 동안 가열한 후 채취된 유증기의 기상크로마토그램은 도 5(b)에, 개질 후 시료에 대한 동일 측정 조건 하 채취된 유증기의 기상크로마토그램은 도 6(b)에 나타내었다.
<비교예 5>
상기 실시예 11에서 양극성 첨가제를 첨가하지 않을 것을 제외하고 실시예 11과 동일하게 진행하였고, 개질 반응에 의한 영향을 분석하기 위하여 상기 개질 반응 전과 개질 반응 후의 시료를 실험예 1과 동일한 측정 방법으로 분석하여 표 9에 나타내었으며, 개질 전 원료를 지속적으로 5시간 동안 가열한 후 채취된 유증기의 기상크로마토그램은 도 5(a)에, 개질 후 시료에 대한 동일 측정조건 하 채취된 유증기의 기상크로마토그램은 도 6(a)에 나타내었다.
하기 표 9에서의 평형시간은 상기 실험예 1에서 플라스크를 180℃에서 가열한 시간을 의미하며, 각 평형시간별 측정된 값은 기상공간에 형성된 유증기 성분의 전체 농도를 질량비로 백만분의 일(wppm)단위로 환산한 것이다.

상기 표 9는 첨가제 도입에 따른 개질 전 및 후의 원료에 대한 유해증기 발생량을 비교한 도표이다. 먼저, 개질 공정을 적용하지 않은 중질유분에 첨가제를 전혀 가하지 않은 원료(비교예 5)와 양극성 물질을 가한 원료(실시예 11)를 180℃로 가열 유지하였을 때, 유증기의 탈기 거동의 차이(유증기 발생 속도 및 양)를 비교 관찰하였다. 양극성 물질이 존재하는 원료 내에서는 아스팔텐 구조체에 갇혀있을 것으로 예상되는 저비점 성분들이 초기(2시간 이내)에 매우 빠르게 유증기화 되며 탈기되는 질량 또한 매우 높은 양으로 관측되는 것을 알 수 있다. 첨가제가 없는 단순 원료를 장시간 동안 180℃에 노출시킬 경우 유증기의 농도가 높은 농도로 유지되는 반면, 양극성 물질이 원료 내에 존재할 경우 유증기 내 탄화수소물의 농도가 감소하는 경향을 나타내며, 배출 속도 또한 낮아지는 것을 알 수 있다. 이는 폐쇄된 기상 공간 내 존재하는 유증기 성분은 가열된 아스팔트 원료 액상과 상호 물질전달이 지속적으로 이루어지고 있으나, 초기원료가 갖고 있는 아스팔텐 구조체 내 성분 형태와는 상이한 조성으로 열역학적 평형조건을 유지하고 있음을 유추할 수 있다. 한편, 개질 공정을 통해 악취 및 유해 성분이 저감된 아스팔트 개질 원료를 제조함에 있어서, 양극성 물질의 첨가는 매우 극적인 효과를 가져오는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 도 5, 6의 크로마토그램으로 나타난 바와 같이 300℃의 개질 공정에 의하여 실시예 및 비교예 모두 개질 후 유증기 발생량이 줄어들고 있으나, 본 발명의 실시예 11에서와 같이 양극성 첨가제를 첨가한 경우 첨가하지 않은 비교예 5에 비하여 개질 후의 유증기 발생량이 약 1/60 정도로 줄어드는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 이는 개질전 중질유분에서 발생하는 유증기의 발생량 대비 1/300 (비교예 5의 개질 전 원료 및 실시예 11의 개질 후 원료의 유증기 발생량 비교) 정도이며, 가열된 폐쇄 기상공간의 농도도 100wppm 이하의 수준으로 발생 유증기의 양이 현저히 감소되어, 실제, 180℃이상의 고온으로 가열되고 있는 원료를 대기에 개방하여도 감지할 수 있을 만큼의 악취가 발생하지 않음을 알 수 있다.
양극성 첨가제를 첨가한 후 원료를 개질 공정에 적용하였을 경우 매우 효과적으로 악취 및 유해물질을 유발하는 저비점 유증기가 저감된 중질원료를 제조할 수 있었다. 한편, 동일한 개질 조건하, 개질을 통해 분리되는 유해증기 성분의 양(원료 단위 질량 당 분리 유증기 질량; m vap)은 첨가제를 적용한 경우(실시예11) 0.0152 (g/g feed)이 얻어졌으며, 첨가제를 적용하지 않은 경우(비교예5) 얻어지는 양 0.0127 (g/g feed) 대비 더 높은 수준으로 분리되었으나, 원료에 대한 상대 질량 편차는 크게 발생하지 않았다. 이는 아스팔텐의 분산도, 즉 중질 거대분자가 이루고 있는 콜로이드 상의 구조 제어를 통해, 거대분자 응집체로부터 저비점 유증기 성분들만 선택적으로 분리될 수 있는 환경이 제공되었음을 알 수 있다. 즉, 양극성 첨가제와 물질전달을 촉진하는 개질 조건을 조합하여 적용하면, 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정, 예로서, 아스콘의 제조공정에서 지속적으로 발생할 수 있는 유해 성분을 미리 효과적으로 제거할 수 있음을 설명하는 결과이다.
<개질에 따른 중질유분의 특성 변화>
하기 표 10은 비교예 5와 실시예 11에 따라 개질을 실시 전 후의 중질유분의 원소 비 구성의 차이를 나타낸 표이다. 원료의 구성 유기원소 및 그 함량을 원소분석기(모델명: Thermo Scientific Flash EA-2000 Organic Elemental Analyzer, 감지기: Thermal Conductivity Detector)를 사용하여 분석 하였다. 표 10 에 의하면, 실시예 11과 비교예 5에 따라 개질된 중질유분들은 개질 전과 비교하여 원소 비에 있어서 거의 동일한 구성비를 나타내고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 이로 보아 본 발명의 방법에 따른 양극성 물질 첨가 후 개질에 의해서도 중질유분의 성상에 큰 변화가 발생하지 않음을 예측할 수 있다.

<실시예 12~14 및 비교예 6>
다음의 실험예 4~6, 실시예 12~14 및 비교예 6은 본원 발명에 따른 악취유발 및 유해성분 저감 방법 중 아스팔텐 분산제로서 폐유 유래 분산제를 사용한 경우의 효과를 보여주기 위한 것이다.
실시예 12~14 및 비교예 6에서 사용된 중질유분은 SKE로 또는 현대오일뱅크부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 중질유분이 사용되었다.
<실험예 4> 본 발명에 따른 폐유로부터의 아스팔텐 분산제 제조
도 1에 따른 폐유의 정제공정으로부터, 불순물과 수분이 분리된 흐름(30)을 고온 증류를 통하여 액화 탄화수소 유분 흐름(41)과 증류 잔사유 흐름(50)으로 분리하였다. 폐유는 회수 지역과 불순물 제거과정이 상이한 3개의 정제회사 제품을 취하여 분리를 실시하였다.
폐유 1은 증류 단계 이전 고형분을 제거함에 있어서 필터를 사용한 물리적 여과방법에 따라 준비된 것이고, 폐유 2는 원심분리를 통해 준비된 것이며, 폐유 3은 응집제인 황산을 투입한 후 염석출을 유도하고 디캔터를 사용하여 석출된 염이 포함된 슬러지를 제거함에 의해 준비된 것이다.
이를 다시 240℃ 이하로 유지되는 저온 증류기를 통해 수분을 제거한 뒤, 상기 불순물들이 제거된 폐유를 240℃에서 분당 10℃로 승온하면서 최대 590℃의 비점에 이르도록 하되, 정제된 폐유의 투입 질량을 기준으로 하여 액화 탄화수소 유분과 증류 잔사물을 중량비로 각각 80-90% 및 10-20%가 되도록 분리를 수행하였다. 폐유 1 내지 3으로부터 증류공정을 통해 탑하부 흐름으로 얻어진 잔사분을 취하여 시료 1 내지 시료 3으로 준비하였고, 탑상부 흐름으로부터 얻어진 증류분을 취하여 시료 4 내지 시료 6으로 준비하였다. 이들 시료에 대한 원소성분 및 그 함량을 원소분석(Elemental Analysis; 모델명: Thermo Scientific Flash 2000, 감지기: Thermal Conductivity Detector), X-선 형광분석(X-ray fluorescence analysis; 모델명: Thermo/ARL QUANT'X), inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES; 모델명: Thermo Fisher Scientific iCAP 6500Duo)를 사용하고, 비점분포는 ASTM D7169 (GC-Simdis)방법을 사용하고, 난분해성 잔류 탄소량 (Conradson carbon residue; CCR)은 ASTM D189 방법을 이용하여 분석한 결과를 아래 표 11에 나타냈다.

표 11을 참조하면, 불순물이 정제된 폐유를 증류하였을 때, 탑상부와 탑하부로부터 얻어진 각 분리물들은 유사한 유기원소(C,H,O,N,S) 분포를 갖고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 시료 1로부터 얻어진 탑상부 증류분과 탑하부 잔류분 각각에 대한 비점 분포를 ASTM D7169법에 따라 분석하였으며, 그 결과를 표 12에 나타내었다.
하기 표 12에서 질량%는 각 비점 이하에서 휘발된 성분의 누적 질량을 나타내며, IBP(initial boiling point)는 초기비점을, FBP(final boiling point)는 최종비점을 의미한다.

표 12에 나타낸 비점 분포를 보면, 탑상부 증류분은 상대적으로 좁은 비점분포 (230-585℃)를 갖는 반면, 탑하부 잔류분(190-700℃)은 상대적으로 높고 넓은 영역의 비점분포를 갖고 있음을 관찰할 수 있다. 특히, 탑하부 잔류분은 중질유분으로서의 아스팔트와 유사하게 500℃ 이상의 비점에 해당하는 다량의 탄화수소 화합물로 구성되어 있음을 알 수 있다.
폐유 중 탄화수소 화합물은 대부분 사용 전 오일의 기유 성분으로부터 시작되며 사용과정에서 물리화학적으로 안정한 탄화수소물 구조로 유지되기 때문에 비점분포의 변화가 크지 않을 수 있다. 기유는 원유로부터 얻어지는 고비점의 오일(감압 기체유)로서 수소화처리 과정 등의 정제공정을 거쳐 불포화 이중결합이나 고리화합물등을 제거하고 이성화반응을 거쳐 얻어지는 무색투명한 광유 또는 PAO (poly-α-olefin), 폴리올에스테르, 왁스크래킹 탄화수소 등 합성오일이 사용된다. 따라서, 상기 증류 잔사물인 탑하부 잔류분은 고비점 탄화수소물이 주요 구성성분이며 비점분포에 있어서도 중질유분들의 비점분포와 매우 흡사하기 때문에 첨가제로 혼합 사용하여도 원료의 특성 변화에 큰 영향을 미치지 않을 수 있다.
한편, 상기 탑하부 잔류분을 아스팔텐 분산제로 사용할 경우, 탑하부 잔류분내 코크(coke)와 같은 고형 탄화수소물이 존재할 경우, 중질유분의 점도나 흐름성에 영향을 줄 수 있으며, 상기 탑하부 잔류분을 ASTM D189로 측정하였을 때 난분해성 잔류 탄소량이 50% 이상인 경우 가열시 고형화될 수 있는 탄소 함량이 지나치게 높아 첨가제로써 활용이 어려워질 수 있다.
표 13은 상기 실험예 4에서의 증류 잔사물에 대해 난분해성 잔류 탄소량을 측정한 결과를 나타낸 것이다.

표 13을 참고하면, 상기 실험예 4에서 얻어진 탑하부 잔류분의 난분해성 잔류 탄소량은 가장 큰 경우에도 13.4 wt%일 뿐이어서, 중질유분의 첨가제로 활용될 수 있음을 알 수 있다.
한편, 전이금속을 포함한 무기 성분의 종류를 관찰하기 위해 증류 잔사물에 대해 X-선 형광분석을 실시하였으며, 검출된 성분의 상대 함량을 표 14에 나타내었다.

표 14를 참조하면, 분산제와 같은 윤활유의 첨가제에 기인하는 다양한 양이온(Na, Mg, K, Ca)들이 다량 포함되어 있다. 한편, 전이금속에 해당하는 몰리브데넘, 구리, 철, 아연 등이 존재하며, 유기금속 첨가제로부터 유도되는 것들로서 황화물, 인화물, 할로겐화물 형태로 고르게 분산되어 존재할 수 있다. 잔류물 내 농축된 이들 금속을 ICP-AES 분석에 의해 정량하였으며, 결정된 함량은 표 15에 나타내었다.

상기 분석법에 의해 정량된 증류 잔사물 각각을 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제, 즉 악취유발 및 유해증기 저감을 위한 중질유분 개질 방법에서의 첨가제로 준비하였다.
<실험예 5> 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제의 아스팔텐 분산 효과 측정
실험예 4에 따라 제조된 시료들 각각에 대해 ASTM D7061-04에 따라 Turbiscan(제조사: Formulation, 모델명 MA2000)을 이용하여 아스팔텐의 분산도를 측정한 결과를 아래 표 16에 나타냈다. ASTM D7061-04은 극성 용매에 녹인 중질유분을 비극성 용매인 n-heptane을 가하여 아스팔텐 침강이나 상분리에 따른 상대적 분산도를 광학적으로 측정한 후 이를 분리수(separability number)로 환산하여 유분의 동역학적인 안정성(stability)을 평가하는 표준화법이다. 분리수는 안정화 시간 15분까지 분마다 측정된 평균 투과도의 변화에 대한 표준편차 값으로 계산될 수 있다. 중질유분 원료는 현대오일뱅크로부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 중질유분이 사용되었으며, 상기 실험예 4에서의 증류 잔사물(탑하부 잔류분)을 중질유분에 5,000wppm이 되도록 첨가한 뒤, 그 분산효과를 관측하였다. 상기 중질유분의 특성을 분석하거나, 악취유발 및 유해 성분의 발생량을 측정하거나, 개질 반응의 원료로 공급하거나, 양극성 첨가제를 첨가할 경우에는 중질유분을 미리 밀폐된 용기 내에 담아 80℃ 이상으로 예열된 오븐에 3시간 이상 방치하여 흐름성을 유지하도록 한 후 사용하였다.

표 17은 실험예 4의 폐유 유래 분산제 중 시료 1의 첨가 농도에 따른 중질유분의 아스팔텐 분산도를 측정한 결과이다. 첨가제를 1,000wppm 이하의 농도로 희석한 경우에도 아스팔텐 분산의 부분적인 효과가 있었으나, 첨가제의 농도가 5,000wppm 이상인 경우 매우 극단적인 아스팔텐의 분산효과가 관찰되었다.
<실험예 6> 대용랑 중질유분의 개질
실험예 2와 동일한 원리로 구성한 개질 반응조를 사용하여 대용량의 악취 및 유해성분 저감이 저감된 중질유분 15kg을 제조 하였다. 개질 반응조로는 50L Hastelloy-C 재질의 고온고압의 반응기(제조사 Buchi Pilot Plant)가 사용되었으며, 열원 공급은 반응기의 외벽을 통해 흐르는 열매체유 (Dowtherm RP)를 통해 이루어졌으며, 기체이송펌프로 유량제어기가 구비된 공기압축기(air compressor; 최대유량공급속도 20L/min)를 사용하였으며, 응축기는 원통다관식 (Shell & Tube Type)열교환기를 사용한 것을 제외하고는 실험예 2의 방법에 따라 대용량 개질 반응을 실시하였다.
<실시예 12>
SKE로부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 아스팔트 150g에 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제(실험예 1의 시료1)를 5,000 wppm 첨가하고, 이를 상기 실험예 2의 방법에 따라 개질 반응을 실시함에 있어서, 개질 반응조의 온도를 230℃로 유지하고 기상의 운반기체로서 질소를 사용하였으며, 기체의 유량은 200 sccm으로 유지하면서 6시간 동안 개질을 수행하였다. 이후 상기 운반기체의 순환을 멈추고, 계를 밀폐시킨 상태에서 상기 개질 반응조 내의 온도가 상온이 되도록 하였다.
<실시예 13>
상기 실시예 12에서 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제(실험예 4의 시료1)를 10,000 wppm 첨가한 것을 제외하고 실시예 12와 동일하게 진행하였다.
<비교예 6>
상기 실시예 12에서 아스팔텐 분산제를 첨가하지 않을 것을 제외하고 실시예 12와 동일하게 진행하였다.
개질 반응에 의한 상대적인 유증기 발생량을 정량하기 위하여 상기 개질 반응 전과 개질 반응 후의 시료를 실험예 1과 동일한 측정 방법으로 분석하였고, 시간별 측정된 유증기의 농도 결과를 표 18에 나타내었다.
하기 표 18에서의 평형시간은 상기 실험예 1에서 플라스크를 180℃에서 가열한 시간을 의미하며, 각 평형시간별 측정된 값은 기상공간에 형성된 유증기 성분의 전체 농도를 질량비로 백만분의 일(wppm)단위로 환산한 것이다.

상기 표 18은 아스팔텐 분산제 도입에 따른 개질 전 및 후의 원료에 대한 유해증기 발생량을 비교한 도표이다. 개질 공정을 적용하지 않은 중질유분의 경우, 평형조성에 도달한 것으로 보이는 1시간 이후의 조건에서 기상 내 70,000 내지 80,000 wppm의 높은 유증기 농도가 형성되었으나, 본 발명에 따른 개질 공정을 거친 중질유 원료는 유증기의 발생량이 크게 저감됨을 알 수 있다. 아스팔텐 분산제를 전혀 가하지 않은 원료(비교예 6)와 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제를 각각 5,000 wppm (실시예 12) 및 10,000 wppm (실시예 13)를 가하여 개질된 중질유에 대해 유증기 발생량을 비교해보면, 첨가제를 첨가한 경우가 유증기 발생량 저감에 훨씬 효과적인 것을 알 수 있다. 특히, 중질유의 분리수 값이 0에 가까워지도록 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제를 10,000 wppm의 농도(실험예 5의 ASTM D7061-04에 의한 터비스캔 측정 결과)로 첨가한 후 개질을 실시한 실시예 13은 유증기의 발생량이 원료 대비 약 1/20 정도로 줄어드는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 이러한 결과는 아스팔텐을 고분산함에 따라 거대분자들의 응집체 내에 갇힌 저비점 유증기 성분들을 선택적으로 분리될 수 있는 환경이 제공되었기 때문으로 보여진다.
<개질에 따른 아스팔트 원료의 특성 변화>
하기 표 19는 개질 전 아스팔트 원료와 비교예 6과 실시예 12, 13에 따라 개질을 실시한 후의 아스팔트의 원소 비 구성의 차이를 나타낸 표이다. 원료의 구성 유기원소 및 그 함량을 원소분석기(모델명: Thermo Scientific Flash EA-2000 Organic Elemental Analyzer, 감지기: Thermal Conductivity Detector)를 사용하여 분석 하였다. 실시예 12, 13과 비교예 6에 따라 개질된 아스팔트들은 개질 전과 비교하여 원소 비에 있어서 거의 동일한 구성비를 나타내고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 이로 보아 폐유 증류 잔사물을 아스팔텐 분산제로 사용하는 본 발명의 방법에 따른 개질에 의해서도 아스팔트의 성상이 크게 변화하지 않을 것임을 예측할 수 있다.

<실시예 14>
대용량 개질 공정에 의하여도 악취 유발 및 유해성분이 포함된 유증기의 저감 효과가 동일하게 나타나는 것을 검증하기 위하여 다음과 같이 개질 반응을 실시하였다. 현대오일뱅크로부터 공급된 AP-5 등급의 아스팔트 약 15.3 kg에 폐유 유래의 아스팔텐 분산제(실험예 4의 시료1)를 5,000 wppm이 되도록 투입하고, 동시에 유사한 아스팔텐 분산 효과(동일한 환경에서 단독 사용시 실험예 2에 의해 측정한 분리수 값이 1.0이상) 를 갖고 있는 것으로 알려져 있는 유기첨가제 ESCA (제조사: 이맥솔루션)를 소량(500 wppm) 추가로 첨가한 후, 이를 상기 실험예 6의 방법에 따라 대량 개질 반응을 230℃에서 진행하였다. 기상의 운반기체로서 개질 반응조 내부에 갖힌 초기 기체를 연속적으로 공급하여 사용하였으며, 개질 반응조 내로 재순환 되는 흐름은 외부 컨덴서에 의해 악취 및 유해성분을 저온으로 농축, 분리하여 공급되었다. 기체의 유량은 5~20 slm으로 유지하면서 6시간 동안 원료 개질을 진행하였다. 이후 상기 운반기체의 순환을 멈추고, 계를 밀폐시킨 상태에서 상기 개질 반응조 내의 온도를 120℃ 이하로 낮춘 후 개질된 중질유 원료를 취하였다.
개질 반응에 의한 상대적인 유증기 발생량을 정량하기 위하여 상기 개질 반응 전과 개질 반응 후의 시료를 실험예 1과 동일한 측정 방법으로 분석하였고, 시간별 측정된 유증기의 농도 결과를 표 20에 나타내었으며, 개질 전 원료를 지속적으로 5시간 동안 가열한 후 채취된 유증기의 기상크로마토그램은 도 7(a)에, 개질 후 시료에 대한 동일 측정조건 하 채취된 유증기의 기상크로마토그램은 도 7(b)에 나타내었다.
하기 표 20에서의 평형시간은 상기 실험예 1에서 플라스크를 180℃에서 가열한 시간을 의미하며, 각 평형시간별 측정된 값은 기상공간에 형성된 유증기 성분의 전체 농도를 질량비로 백만분의 일(wppm)단위로 환산한 것이다.

개질 전,후 중질유분의 유증기 발생량은 큰 차이를 보였으며, 유증기의 발생량이 혼합 첨가제(폐유 유래의 아스팔텐 분산제와 유기합성에 의해 제조된 아스팔텐 분산제)를 사용한 경우, 유증기의 발생량이 개질 전 원료 대비 약 1/30 정도로 줄어드는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 이로부터 폐유 유래의 아스팔텐 분산제를 부분적으로 도입하여도 악취유발 및 유해물질 저감에 효과가 있음을 설명해주는 결과임을 알 수 있다.
한편, 표 21은 대용량 개질 전후의 원소의 구성비를 측정한 결과이다. 표 21에 의하면, 실시예 14에 따라 대량으로 개질된 아스팔트 원료는 개질 전과 비교하여 원소 비에 있어서 거의 동일한 구성비를 나타내고 있어, 본 발명의 방법에 따른 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제를 첨가한 개질에 의해서도 아스팔트의 성상이 크게 변화하지 않았음을 유추할 수 있다.

이로서, 본 발명에 따라 대용량으로 개질된 중질유분 역시 악취 유발 및 유해성분이 크게 감소하며, 개질에 의해서도 중질유분의 성상은 변화가 거의 없어, 아스콘 제조 공정에서와 같이 본 발명에 따라 제조된 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서 악취유발 및 유해 성분은 효과적으로 억제하면서도, 최종 제품의 물성은 동일하게 가져갈 수 있음을 알 수 있다.
이상으로 본 발명은 실시예 및 비교예를 참조하여 설명되었으나, 이는 예시적인 것에 불과하며, 당해 기술에 속하는 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 이로부터 다양한 변형 및 균등한 타 실시예가 가능하다는 것을 이해할 것이다. 따라서 본 발명의 기술적 보호범위는 아래의 특허청구 범위에 의해서 정하여져야 할 것이다.
본 발명은 석유화학공정 등에서 발생하는 중질유분의 악취유발 및 유해성분을 미리 제거함으로써, 상기 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서의 악취유발 및 유해성분의 발생을 미연에 방지할 수 있는 기술에 관한 것으로서, 산업상 이용가능성이 있다.
본 발명에 따르는 기술은 중질유분 내에 아스팔텐 분자를 제어하여 저비점 유해증기를 제거하는 것이다. 본 발명에 따르는 기술에 의하면 중질유는 개질 전후로 성상에 큰 변화가 없는 것으로 관찰되었으나, 에너지 및 물성 관리 측면에서는 정유공정 하류에서 생산되는 중질유분에 본 발명에 따르는 기술을 먼저 적용하고 각종 개질 첨가제를 첨가하여 AP-5 등급 아스팔트를 제조하는 방법이 산업적으로 더 유용할 수 있다.

Claims (16)

  1. 내부에 저장되는 중질유분을 가열하는 가열 수단을 포함하며, 내부로 공급되는 운반기체가 가열된 중질유분 내 악취유발 및 유해 성분과 함께 외부로 배출되는 중질유분 개질 반응조;
    상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부로 운반기체를 공급하는 운반기체 공급부;
    상기 운반기체 공급부에서 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부로 공급되는 운반기체를 분산시키는 운반기체 분산부; 및
    상기 중질유분 개질 반응조에서 배출되는 운반기체로부터 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 분리하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부;
    를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 시스템.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부에서 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 분리된 운반기체를 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조로 재공급하는 운반기체 순환부;를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 시스템.
  3. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 중질유분 개질 반응조는,
    상기 중질유분을 원료로 사용하는 공정에서의 조업온도 이상 및 330 ℃ 이하의 범위로 중질유분을 가열시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 시스템.
  4. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 중질유분 개질 반응조는,
    운반기체가 중질유분 개질 반응조 외부로 배출되기 전에 운반기체에 포함되어 있는 중질유분 미립자를 필터링하는 디미스터;를 추가적으로 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 시스템.
  5. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부는,
    흡착제, 스크러버, 분리막, 냉각기 중 적어도 하나 이상의 수단을 이용하여, 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조에서 배출되는 운반기체로부터 악취유발 및 유해 성분을 분리하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 시스템.
  6. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리부 후단과 중질유분 개질반응조의 입구 사이에 폐촉매, 분자체, NaOH 중에서 선택된 하나 이상이 추가로 위치한 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 시스템.
  7. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 중질유분은, 감압 잔사유, 열분해유, 석탄 건류 콜타르, 아스팔트, 천연 역청 중 선택된 하나 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 시스템.
  8. (a) 중질유분 개질반응조 내부에 저장되어 있는 중질유분을 개질 반응온도까지 가열하는 중질유분 가열단계;
    (b) 상기 중질유분 개질반응조 내부에 저장되어 있는 가열된 중질유분 내로 운반기체를 분산시켜 공급하는 운반기체 공급단계;
    (c) 상기 중질유분 개질 반응조 내부에서 가열된 중질유분 내 악취유발 및 유해성분이 운반기체와 함께 중질유분 개질 반응조 외부로 배출되는 악취유발 및 유해성분 배출단계;를
    포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 아스팔트 제조 방법.
  9. 제8항에 있어서,
    (d) 중질유분으로부터 분리 탈기된 악취유발 및 유해성분을 상기 운반기체로부터 분리하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분 분리 단계;를 더 포함하며,
    상기 (d) 단계에서의 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 분리된 운반기체를 상기 (b)단계로 되돌리는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법.
  10. 제8항에 있어서,
    상기 (a) 단계의 중질유분은 아스팔텐 분산제가 첨가된 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법
  11. 제10항에 있어서,
    상기 아스팔텐 분산제는, 극성 그룹의 쌍극자 모멘트는 1.1 디바이 이상이고, 상기 비극성 그룹의 쌍극자 모멘트는 0.5 디바이 이하인 양극성 첨가제 및/또는 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제인 것을 특징으로 하는 악취 유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법
  12. 제11항에 있어서,
    상기 폐유 유래 아스팔텐 분산제는 폐유에서 고형분과 수분을 제거하고, 재생 가능한 탄화수소를 회수하고 난 뒤의 증류탑 잔사물인 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법
  13. 제11항에 있어서,
    상기 양극성 첨가제의 상기 극성그룹은, 아민(amine), 이미드(imide), 아미드(amide), 알코올, 페놀, 에스테르, 메타아크릴레이트(methacrylate) 중에서 선택되는 적어도 하나를 포함하며,
    상기 비극성 그룹은 에틸렌, 프로필렌, 이소부틸렌, 디엔(diene), 스타이렌(styrene)중 어느 하나 또는 조합으로부터 유도되는 고분자를 포함하며,
    상기 양극성 첨가제의 수평균 분자량 (The number average molecular weight)으로 100 내지 500,000인 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법.
  14. 제8항에 있어서,
    상기 중질유분은, 감압 잔사유, 열분해유, 석탄 건류 콜타르, 아스팔트, 천연 역청 중 선택된 하나 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법.
  15. 제1항 내지 제7항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 시스템; 및
    상기 중질유분 제조 시스템에서 얻어진 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 아스팔트와 골재를 혼합하는 아스콘 믹싱부;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 아스콘 제조 시스템.
  16. 제8항 내지 제14항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 중질유분 제조 방법에 의하여 얻어진 아스팔트와 골재를 혼합하는 것을 특징으로 하는 악취유발 및 유해 성분이 저감된 아스콘 제조 방법.
