Abstract
본 발명에 따른 LPWAN용 리피티 시스템은 사용자의 선택에 따라 송신용 또는 수신용 안테나가 될 수 있는 제 1 안테나 및 제 2 안테나, 상기 제 1 안테나와 제 2 안테나 각각에 커플링된 스위치, 상기 제 1 안테나 및 제 2 안테나와 상기 스위치를 통해 연결되는 RF 송신단 및 RF 수신단, 상기 스위치의 스위칭을 제어하고 RF송신단 및 RF 수신단을 제어하는 제어부를 포함하고, 상기 제 1안테나는 다수의 지향성을 가지는 다이폴 안테나이고, 제 2 안테나는 하나의 지향방향으로 신호를 수신 및 송신하는 지향성 안테나를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
Description
본 발명은 무선 네트워크를 위한 LPWAN(Low-Power Wide-Area Network)용 리피터(Repeater) 시스템 및 그 제어방법에 관련되며, 더 상세하게는 패치안테나를 활용하는 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템 및 그 제어방법에 관련된 것이다.
리피터는 무선 디바이스와 셀 타워와 같은 무선 통신 액세스 포인트간이 무선 통신의 품질을 향상시키도록 사용될 수 있다. 리피터는 무선 디바이스와 무선통신 액세스 포인트간에 통신되는 신호를 업링크 및 다운링크하기 위해 증폭, 필터링, 및/또는 다른 처리 기술을 적용함으로써 무선 통신의 품질을 개선시킬 수 있다.
저전력 장거리 통신 네트워크인 LPWAN(Low-Power Wide Area Network) 대역을 위한 리피터는 LPWAN 대역 기지국의 수신 커버리지의 임계 지점에 설치함으로써 기지국의 수신 커버리지를 확장하는 효과가 있다.
또한, LPWAN 대역 기지국의 수신 커버리지와 음영 지역의 임계 지점 및 기지국의 수신 커버리지의 약전계에 리피터를 설치함으로써 음역 지역에 대한 서비스 또는 약전계에 대한 LPWAN 대역 업링크 메시지에 대한 서비스를 가능하게 한다.
이외에 실제적으로 내장형 안테나를 사용하는 LPWAN 대역 장치는 단독으로 설치되어 LPWAN 대역 업링크 메시지를 전송하는 경우, 기지국에서 업링크 메시지를 수신도 한다. 특히, LPWAN 대역을 사용하는 SIGFOX 시스템에서 사용되는 장치의 경우 Broadcasting 방식으로 데이터를 전송하기 때문에 전송 데이터가 확실하게 수신 장치에 수신되었다는 것을 확인할 수 없다.(SIGFOX: 프랑스의 SigFox사에서 Ultra narrow-band 모듈레이션 기술을 활용하여 데이터 사용량이 낮은 사물 전용 네트워크를 구축하고 플랫폼 및 솔루션)
따라서, SIGFOX 시스템에 리피터를 설치하는 경우 업링크 메시지를 리피터가 받아서 증폭한 후 기지국으로 전송함으로써 보다 수신확률을 높일 수 있다.
그러나, 여러 통신 장치들이 섞여있는 환경에서 LPWAN 대역을 이용하는 장치들만의 통신이 신뢰성 있게 진행되게 하기 위한 방법이 필요하다.
현재 사용인 LPWAN용 리피터의 경우, 송수신용 다이폴 안테나가 사용되고, 이 경우 LPWAN용 리피터가 수신 받기를 허용하는 장치 외에 더 큰 신호 세기를 가지고 있는 주변 다른 장치의 신호가 리피터를 통해 리피팅되어 전송되고, 정작 LPWAN 대역용 리피터 시스템이 수신 받아야 할 대상 기기로부터의 신호는 수신할 수 없는 문제점이 생길 수 있다.
이에 대해 LPWAN용 리피터에서 수신되기를 허용하는 디바이스와의 통신 성능을 향상시키기 위한 리피터용 안테나의 새로운 제안이 필요하다고 볼 수 있다.
이에 본 발명의 기술적 과제는 이러한 점에서 착안된 것으로, 본 발명의 목적은 통신 환경에 맞추어 더 높은 송/수신 감도를 제공할 수 있는 무선 통신 네트워크에서 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템의 수신기, 송신기용 안테나 구성을 제공하고자 한다.
상기한 본 발명의 목적을 실현하기 위한 일 실시예에 따른 LPWAN(Low Power Wide-Area-Network)용 리피터 시스템은 사용자의 선택에 따라 송신용 또는 수신용 안테나가 될 수 있는 제 1 안테나 및 제 2 안테나; 상기 제 1 안테나와 제 2 안테나 각각에 커플링된 스위치; 상기 제 1 안테나 및 제 2 안테나와 상기 스위치를 통해 연결되는 RF 송신단 및 RF 수신단; 상기 스위치의 스위칭을 제어하고 RF 송신부 및 RF 수신단을 제어하는 제어부를 포함하고, 상기 제 1 안테나는 다수의 지향성을 가지는 다이폴 안테나이고, 제 2 안테나는 하나의 지향방향으로 신호를 수신 및 송신하는 패치 안테나인 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 제어부는 제 2 안테나의 지향 방향을 제어하는 페이즈 컨트롤러부를
포함할 수 있다.

Signal Strength Indicator)를 분석하는 분석부; 및 상기 제 2 안테나의 위치 각도를 허용각도만큼 n차 변경하도록 제어신호를 생성하여 제 2안테나의 위치 각도를 변경 후에 응답요청 메시지를 포함하는 Pilot 메시지를 업링크 방향으로 송신하도록 하고, 분석부에서 분석된 정보를 기반으로 상기 제 2 안테나의 지향방향을 제어하기 위한 제어 신호를 생성하는 생성부를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 제어부의 페이즈 컨트롤러부에서 제 2 안테나의 지향 방향을 결정하는 과정은 제 2안테나의 지향 방향 자동 결정모드로 전이하는 제 1단계; 제 2 안테나의 지향방향을 초기화하여 응답요청 메시지를 포함하는 Pilot 메시지를 업링크 방향으로 송신하는 제2 단계; 일정 기간 후 상기 Pilot 메시지에 대한 응답 메시지가 수신되었을 때 제어부의 분석부에서 응답메시지의 RSSI를 분석하는 제 3 단계; 상기 제어부의 생성부에서 제 2 안테나의 위치 각도를 허용각도만큼 n차 변경하도록 제어신호를 생성하여 제 2안테나의 위치 각도를 변경 후에 제 2단계에서 제 3단계까지를 n차 반복하는 제 4단계; 상기 n차 반복 후에 제어부의 분석부에서 응답메시지의 RSSI가 가장 높은 방향으로 분석되는 방향을 결정하는 제 5단계; 상기 분석부의 결정을 기반으로 제어부의생성부에서 상기 제 2 안테나 지향방향 결정하기 위한 제어 신호를 생성하는 제6단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.

사용자 설정에 의하여 제 1안테나가 송신 안테나 또는 수신 안테나로 결정되면, 송신주기 또는 수신 주기 동안 송신 또는 수신을 수행할 수 있다.
본 발명은 무선 통신 네트워크를 위한 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템의 수신기, 송신기용 안테나 구성을 제공함으로써, 통신 환경에 맞추어 더 높은 송/수신 감도를 제공할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
또한, 여러 통신 장치들이 섞여있는 환경에서 LPWAN 대역을 이용하는 장
치들만의 통신이 신뢰성 있게 진행되게 하는 효과가 있다.
다만, 본 발명의 효과는 상기 효과들로 한정되는 것이 아니며, 본 발명의 사상 및 영역으로부터 벗어나지 않는 범위에서 다양하게 확장될 수 있을 것이다.
도 1은 상용되는(기존) LPWAN용 리피터 시스템의 구조를 나타낸 도면이다.
도 2는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템의 구조를 보여주는 도면이다.

이하, 도면들을 참조하여 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예들을 보다 상세하게 설명하기로 한다.
본 발명은 다양한 변경을 가할 수 있고 여러 가지 형태를 가질 수 있는 바, 특정 실시예들을 도면에 예시하고 본문에 상세하게 설명하고자 한다. 그러나, 이는 본 발명을 특정한 개시 형태에 대해 한정하려는 것이 아니며, 본 발명의 사상 및 기술 범위에 포함되는 모든 변경, 균등물 내지 대체물을 포함하는 것으로 이해되어야 한다.
도 1은 상용되는(기존) LPWAN용 리피터 시스템의 구조를 나타낸 것이다. 도면을 참조하면, 다이폴 안테나 하나로써, 수신/송신 안테나로서의 역할을 교대로 진행하게 됨을 알 수 있다. 즉, 리피터 시스템의 수신단(Receiver)에서 업링크 데이터를 수신 받는 동안 리피터 시스템의 송신단(Transceiver)에서는 송신이 진행되지 않는다.
또한, 리피터 시스템의 수신단(Receiver)에서 업링크 데이터를 수신 받아 리피터의 송신단(Transceiver)에서 기지국으로 송신이 진행되는 동안, 리피터 시스템의 수신단에서는 수신이 진행되지 않는다. 이러한 단방향 송수신 특성으로 인해 LPWAN 대역용 리피터 시스템은 저가이면서 소형으로 구현된다.
본 특허는 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템의 특성을 유지하면서 보다 고성능 및 업링크 데이터의 전송 성공율을 향상시키기 위한 방안을 제시하고자 한다.
도 2는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템의 구조를 보여주는 도면이다.
LPWAN용 리피터 시스템(200)은 제 1 안테나(202), 제 2 안테나(204), 상기 제 1 안테나(202)와 제 2 안테나(204) 각각에 커플링된 스위치(206), 상기 제 1 안테나 모듈 및 제 2 안테나 모듈과 상기 스위치를 통해 연결되는 RF 송신단(208), RF 수신단(210) 및 상기 스위치(206)의 스위칭을 제어하고, 상기 RF 송신단(208) 및 RF 수신단(210)을 제어하기 위한 제어부(212)를 포함한다.
상기 제어부(212)는 제 1안테나(202) 및 제 2 안테나(204)를 각각 커플링된 상기 스위치(206)를 통해 RF 송신단(208)에 연결되는 제 1 송신 경로 혹은 제 2 송신 경로 및 RF 수신단(210)에 연결되는 제 1 수신 경로 혹은 제 2 수신경로를 통해 제 1 신호 및 제 2 신호를 송신 혹은 수신하도록 하는 제어회로를 포함한다.
상기 제 1 안테나(202)는 다수의 지향성을 가지는 다이폴 안테나이고, 제 2 안테나(204)는 하나의 지향방향으로 신호를 수신 및 송신하는 패치 안테나이다. 상기 제 1 안테나(202) 및 제 2 안테나(204)는 사용자의 선택에 의해 스위칭(206)을 통하여 송신 안테나 또는 수신 안테나로 각각 설정될 수 있다.
상기 송신용 제 1 안테나(202) 및 제 2 안테나(204)는 스위치(206)를 적용하여 사용 환경에 따라 송신 및 수신 안테나 적용을 가변하기 위한 것이다. 특히 음영 지역 또는 특정 지역에 대해서만 송신을 하고자 하는 경우, 지향성 패치 안테나인 제 2 안테나(204)를 송신 또는 수신 안테나로 선택하면, 보다 높은 S/N으로 신호를 송수신하는 것이 가능하다.
도 3은 상기 리피터 시스템에서 제2 안테나의 지향방향을 결정하기 위한 제어부(212)의 기능 블록도를 나타낸 도면이다.
도 3을 참조하면, 상기 제어부(212)는 상기 제 2 안테나(204)의 지향 방향을 제어하는 페이즈 컨트롤러부(212a)를 포함한다.
상기 페이즈 컨트롤러부(212a)는 LPWAN 대역에서 허용되는 장치로부터의 신호가 오는 방향을 분석하는 분석부(212b), 및 상기 제 2 안테나(204)의 지향방향을 제어하기 위한 안테나 제어 신호를 생성하는 생성부(212c)를 포함한다.
즉, 상기 페이즈 컨트롤러부의 분석부(212b)는 응답요청 메시지를 포함하는 Pilot 메시지에 대한 응답으로 수신된 신호의 RSSI를 분석하는 역할을 한다.
상기 분석부(212b)는 LPWAN 대역에서 허용되는 장치로부터 오는 신호의 방향 혹은 음영지역이 있는지 판단하는 역할을 하게 되고, 수신 신호의 지향방향을 상기 방향으로 결정한다.
상기 페이즈 컨트롤러부의 생성부(212c)는 제2 안테나의 위치 각도를 허용각도만큼 n차 변경하도록 제어신호를 생성하여 제 2안테나의 위치 각도를 변경 후에 응답요청 메시지를 포함하는 Pilot 메시지를 업링크 방향으로 송신하도록 하고, 분석부에서 분석된 정보를 기반으로 상기 제 2 안테나의 지향방향을 제어하기 위한 제어 신호를 생성하는 역할을 한다.
도 4는 도 3의 제어부(212)의 페이즈 컨트롤러부(212a)에서 제 2 안테나(204)의 지향 방향을 결정하기 위한 플로우챠트를 나타낸 것이다.
제 2안테나(204)의 지향 방향 자동 결정모드로 전이한다(제 1단계, 401). 제 2 안테나(204)의 지향방향을 초기화하여 응답요청 메시지를 포함하는 Pilot 메시지를 업링크 방향으로 송신한다(제2 단계, 403).
일정 기간 후 상기 Pilot 메시지에 대한 응답 메시지가 수신되었을 때 제어부의 분석부(212b)에서 응답메시지의 RSSI를 분석한다(제 3 단계, 405).
상기 제어부의 생성부(212c)에서 제 2 안테나(204)의 위치 각도를 허용각도 만큼 n차 변경하도록 제어신호를 생성하여 제 2안테나(204)의 위치 각도를 변경 후에 제 2단계에서 제 3단계까지를 n차 반복한다(제 4단계, 407).
상기 n차 반복후에 제어부(212)의 분석부(212b)에서 응답메시지의 RSSI가 가장 높은 방향으로 분석되는 방향을 결정한다(제 5단계, 409).
상기 분석부의 결정을 기반으로 제어부(212)의 생성부(212c)에서 상기 제 2 안테나(204) 지향방향 결정하기 위한 제어 신호를 생성한다(제6단계, 411).
제 2 안테나(204)를 상기 제어신호에 맞추어 틸팅한 후에 남은 수신 또는 송신모드 동안 신호들을 수신한다.
상기 리피터 시스템(200)에서 스위치(206)를 이용하여 제 2 안테나(204)를 송신단 혹은 수신단 안테나로 설정한 경우 모두 위에서 언급된 방식으로 제 2 안테나(204)의 지향방향을 결정해야 한다.
도 5는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템(200)의 동작 과정을 나타낸 플로우 차트이다.
본 발명의 실시예에 따른 리피터 시스템(202)은 사용자의 선택에 따라 송신용 또는 수신용 안테나가 될 수 있는 제 1 안테나(202) 및 제 2 안테나(204), 상기 제1 안테나(202)와 제 2 안테나(204) 각각에 커플링된 스위치(206), 상기 제 1안테나(202) 및 제 2 안테나(204)와 상기 스위치(206)를 통해 연결되는 RF 송신단(208) 및 RF 수신단(210), 상기 스위치의 스위칭(206)을 제어하고 RF 송신단(208)및 RF 수신단(210)를 제어하는 제어부(212)를 포함한다.
상기 리피터 시스템(200)의 동작 과정은 사용자 설정에 의하여 제 1안테나(202) 또는 제 2 안테나(204)를 각각 송신 안테나 또는 수신 안테나로 결정한다(제1 단계, 501).
만약 제 2안테나(204)가 송신 또는 수신 안테나로 결정되었다면, 제 2안테나(204)의 지향 방향 자동 결정모드로 전이한다(제2단계, 503).
제 2 안테나(204)의 지향방향을 초기화하여 응답요청 메시지를 포함하는 Pilot 메시지를 업링크 방향으로 송신한다(제3 단계, 505).
일정 기간 후 상기 Pilot 메시지에 대한 응답 메시지가 수신되었을 때 제어부의 분석부(212b)에서 응답메시지의 RSSI를 분석한다(제 4 단계, 507).
상기 제어부(212)의 생성부(212c)에서 제 2 안테나의 위치 각도를 허용각도만큼 n차 변경하도록 제어신호를 생성하여 제 2안테나의 위치 각도를 변경 후에 제 3단계에서 제 4단계까지를 n차 반복한다(제5단계, 509).
상기 n차 반복 후에 제어부의 분석부에서 응답메시지의 RSSI가 가장 높은 방향으로 분석되는 방향을 결정한다(제6단계, 511).
상기 분석부의 결정을 기반으로 제어부의 생성부(212c)에서 상기 제 2 안테나(204) 지향방향 결정하기 위한 제어신호를 생성한다(제7단계, 513).
상기 제어 신호에 맞추어 제 2 안테나(204)를 틸팅한 후에 신호들을 송신 또는 수신한다(제8 단계, 515).
상기 송신 또는 수신모드가 끝나면 제어 신호에 따라 그 다음 주기인 수신 또는 송신 모드로 전이한다(제9단계, 517).
사용자 설정에 의하여 제 1안테나(202)가 송신 안테나 또는 수신 안테나로 결정되면, 송신주기 또는 수신 주기 동안 송신 또는 수신을 수행할 수 있다.
상기 리피터 시스템(200)는 이와 같은 프로세스로 여러 통신 장치들이 섞여 있는 환경에서 LPWAN 대역에서 허용되는 장치로부터의 신호에 대해 제 2 안테나(204)의 지향성 안테나를 사용하여 수신 강도를 높일 수 있다.
상기 리피터 시스템(200)의 제어부(212)는 Pilot 신호의 응답 신호로 수신되는 성능을 기반으로 최적의 지향성 안테나의 지향방향을 결정하여 LPWAN 대역에서의 통신 효율을 높일 수 있다.
따라서, 종래보다 수신강도를 높이면서도 송신 효율을 높일 수 있는 리피터 시스템을 구성한 것이라고 할 수 있다.
이상 실시예를 참조하여 설명하였지만, 해당 기술 분야의 숙련된 당업자는 하기의 특허 청구의 범위에 기재된 본 발명의 사상 및 영역으로부터 벗어나지 않는 범위 내에서 본 발명을 다양하게 수정 및 변경시킬 수 있음을 이해할 수 있을 것이다.

Claims (6)
- 사용자의 선택에 따라 송신용 또는 수신용 안테나가 될 수 있는 제 1 안테나 및 제 2 안테나;상기 제 1 안테나와 제 2 안테나 각각에 커플링된 스위치; 상기 제 1 안테나 및 제 2 안테나와 상기 스위치를 통해 연결되는 RF 송신단 및 RF 수신단; 상기 스위치의 스위칭을 제어하고 RF 송신단 및 RF 수신단을 제어하는 제어부;를 포함하고,상기 제 1안테나는 다수의 지향성을 가지는 다이폴 안테나이고, 제 2 안테나는 하나의 지향방향으로 신호를 수신 및 송신하는 지향성 안테나를 포함하는 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 제어부는 제 2 안테나의 지향 방향을 제어하는 페이즈 컨트롤러부를 포함하는 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 제어부의 페이즈 컨트롤러부는 응답요청 메시지를 포함하는 Pilot 메시지에 대한 응답으로 수신된 신호의 RSSI를 분석하는 분석부, 및 상기 제 2 안테나의 위치 각도를 허용각도만큼 n차 변경하도록 제어신호를 생성하여 제 2안테나의 위치 각도를 변경 후에 응답요청 메시지를 포함하는 Pilot 메시지를 업링크 방향으로 송신하도록 하고, 상기 분석부에서 분석된 정보를 기반으로 상기 제 2 안테나의 지향방향을 제어하기 위한 제어 신호를 생성하는 생성부를 포함하는 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 제어부에서 제 2안테나의 지향 방향 자동 결정모드로 전이하는 제 1단계, 제 2 안테나의 지향방향을 초기화하여 응답요청 메시지를 포함하는 Pilot 메시지를 업링크 방향으로 송신하는 제2 단계,일정 기간 후 상기 Pilot 메시지에 대한 응답 메시지가 수신되었을 때제어부의 분석부에서 응답메시지의 RSSI를 분석하는 제 3 단계,상기 제어부의 생성부에서 제 2 안테나의 위치 각도를 허용각도만큼 n차변경하도록 제어신호를 생성하여 제 2안테나의 위치 각도를 변경 후에 제 2단계에서 제 3단계까지를 n차 반복하는 제 4단계,상기 n차 반복 후에 제어부의 분석부에서 응답메시지의 RSSI가 가장 높은방향으로 분석되는 방향을 결정하는 제 5단계,상기 분석부의 결정을 기반으로 제어부의 생성부에서 상기 제 2 안테나 지향방향 결정하기 위한 제어 신호를 생성하는 제6단계를 포함하는 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템.
- 사용자의 선택에 따라 송신용 또는 수신용 안테나가 될 수 있는 제 1 안테나 및 제 2 안테나, 상기 제 1 안테나와 제 2 안테나 각각에 커플링된 스위치, 상기 제 1 안테나 및 제 2 안테나와 상기 스위치를 통해 연결되는 RF 송신단 및 RF 수신단, 상기 스위치의 스위칭을 제어하고 RF 송신단 및 RF 수신단을 제어하는 제어부를 포함하는 리피터 시스템에서,사용자 설정에 의하여 제 1안테나 또는 제 2 안테나를 각각 송신 안테나 또는 수신 안테나로 결정하는 제1 단계;만약 제 2안테나가 송신 또는 수신 안테나로 결정되었다면, 제 2안테나의 지향 방향 자동 결정모드로 전이하는 제 2단계;제 2 안테나의 지향방향을 초기화하여 응답요청 메시지를 포함하는 pilot 메시지를 uplink 방향으로 송신하는 제3 단계;일정 기간 후 상기 Pilot 메시지에 대한 응답 메시지가 수신되었을 때 제어부의 분석부에서 응답메시지의 RSSI를 분석하는 제 4 단계;상기 제어부의 생성부에서 제 2 안테나의 위치 각도를 허용각도만큼 n차 변경하도록 제어신호를 생성하여 제 2안테나의 위치 각도를 변경 후에 제 3단계에서 제 4단계까지를 n차 반복하는 제5단계;상기 n차 반복 후에 제어부의 분석부에서 응답메시지의 RSSI가 가장 높은 방향으로 분석되는 방향을 결정하는 제6단계;상기 분석부의 결정을 기반으로 제어부의 생성부에서 상기 제 2 안테나 지향방향 결정하기 위한 제어 신호를 생성하는 제7단계;상기 제어 신호에 맞추어 제 2 안테나를 틸팅한 후에 신호들을 송신 또는 수신하는 제8단계;상기 송신 또는 수신모드가 끝나면 제어 신호에 따라 그 다음 주기인 수신 또는 송신 모드로 전이하는 제9단계;를 포함하는 것을 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템 제어 방법.
- 제 5항에 있어서,사용자 설정에 의하여 제 1안테나가 송신 안테나 또는 수신 안테나로 결정되면, 송신주기 또는 수신 주기 동안 송신 또는 수신을 수행하는 LPWAN용 리피터 시스템 제어 방법
