En pratique, on constate qu’après prélèvement il peut rester des traces de peinture sur le bout sphérique de la valve au niveau du trou de passage et de l’obturateur. En séchant, ces salissures risquent de boucher le trou de passage et donc de provoquer des problèmes de dosage liés à une valve dont le trou de passage serait partiellement ou complètement bouché. A cela s’ajoutent les projections de peinture provenant d'éclaboussures au moment de l'éjection de la dose de peinture dans le récipient collecteur, qui peuvent venir souiller la valve. En particulier, de telles projections sont susceptibles de poser des problèmes de fonctionnement du dispositif par encrassement du conduit de valve au niveau de la bobine, pouvant causer des collages, voire même des arrachements de valve. Dans ce cas, l’enceinte de nettoyage est stationnaire et disposée sur la trajectoire suivie par les valves. Cette enceinte de nettoyage est le plus souvent constamment ouverte, ce qui entraîne un risque de pollution de l’atmosphère autour de l’enceinte et/ou du contenu de l’enceinte.
