본 출원은 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지 및 그 제조 방법에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는, 무기산화물 표면의 경화성 관능기와, 가교성 물질이 결합되어 형성된 레진, 및 상기 레진 상에 분산된 양자점으로 구성된 광변환층을 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지 및 그 제조 방법에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로, 양자점은 유기-발광체 및 무기-발광체보다 수 백배 이상의 높은 휘도를 가진다. 또한, 양자점은 크기에 따라 발광되는 빛의 파장을 비교적으로 용이하게 조절할 수 있다. 이러한 양자점의 장점을 활용하기 위해, 양자점을 단독으로 사용하거나, 양자점을 다른 발광체와 결합한 디스플레이, 또는 조명소자가 활발하게 개발 중이다. 특히, 현재 주로 사용되는 발광다이오드(LED)의 경우, 색재현의 한계가 있어, 양자점과의 결합이 필수적이라고 할 수 있다.

상술된 바에 따라, 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지는 상기 발광다이오드(140), 및 상기 발광다이오드(140)에서 방출되는 빛을 다른 파장의 빛으로 변환시키는 상기 광변환층(150)을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 광변환층(150)은 상기 무기산화물(156) 표면의 상기 경화성 관능기와, 상기 가교성 물질(158)이 결합되어 형성된 상기 레진(154), 및 상기 레진(154) 상에 분산된 상기 양자점(152)을 포함할 수 있다. 이 경우, 상기 레진(154)은 내부에 분산된 상기 양자점(152)에 광안정성 및 열안정성을 제공할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 상기 레진(154)은 상기 양자점(152)이 광 또는 열에 의해 열화되는 현상을 방지할 수 있다. 따라서, 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지는 상기 발광다이오드(140), 및 상기 광변환층(150)이 직접적으로 맟닿는 구조로 제조될 수 있다. 또한, 상기 레진(154)은 투습 및 투산소 방지 특성을 가질 수 있고, 이에 따라, 상기 양자점(152)이 상기 산소 분자, 및 물 분자와 반응하여 분해되는 현상을 방지할 수 있다. 즉, 상기 양자점(152)은 상기 양자점(152)을 감싸는 상기 레진(154)에 의해 안정성이 향상될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 광변환층(150)은 상기 경화성 관능기로 표면 개질된 상기 무기산화물(156), 상기 가교성 물질(158), 및 상기 양자점(152)이 혼합된 상기 양자점 잉크를 경화시켜 제조될 수 있다. 이 때, 상기 양자점 잉크는 상기 발광다이오드(140)가 형성된 오목홈 내에 도포된 이후, 상기 발광다이오드(140)에서 방출되는 빛에 의해 경화될 수 있다. 즉, 상기 양자점 잉크를 경화시키는 단계는 추가적인 장비없이 제조될 수 있고, 이에 따라, 상기 광변환층(150)의 제조 공정이 단순화될 수 있고, 상기 제조 공정의 비용이 절감될 수 있다.
이하, 본 발명의 구체적인 실험 예에 따른 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 제조 방법 및 특성 평가 결과가 설명된다.
실험 예 1 내지 4에 따른 양자점 잉크의 제조
상기 가교성 물질로 디펜타에리트리톨펜타아크릴레이트(DPPA), 상기 경화성 물질로 3-메타아크릴 옥시프로필 트리메톡시실란, 무기 산화물로 실리콘 산화물(고형분 40%의 88%, 평균 입경 20nm, 일리노이주 나퍼빌 소재의 날코 코포레이션 사의 '날코 2327'을 사용), 및 상기 양자점으로 CdSe@ZnS를 준비하였다.
상기 디펜타에리트리톨 펜타아크릴레이트(DPPA) 65g을 49℃의 온도에서 가열한 후, 상기 실리콘 산화물 100g을 첨가하여 제1 혼합물을 제조하였다.
상기 제1 혼합물에 상기 3-(트리메톡시실릴)프로필 메타아크릴레이트(MSPM) 15g을 혼합하여 제2 혼합물을 제조하였다.
상기 제2 혼합물에 상기 광안정제인 상기 2(3)-t-부틸-4-하이드록시톨루엔(BHT) 0.3g 및 또 다른 상기 광안정제인 페노티아진 0.04g를 첨가하여 제3 혼합물을 제조하였다.
상기 제3 혼합물을 50 내지 54℃의 온도 범위에서 80 내지 120mmHg의 압력 범위로 약하게 진공 증류하여, 상기 제3 혼합물에 포함된 대부분의 물 및 메탄올을 제거하여 건조된 생성물을 제조하였다.
상기 건조 공정이 종료될 즈음, 이소프로필알코올(IPA) 및 증류수를 14:1의 중량비로 혼합된 혼합 용매로 고형분 함량이 50%가 되도록 희석시켰다.
상기 고형분 햠량 50%의 혼합물에 상기 혼합 용매를 다시 제공하여, 고형분 햠량이 25%가 되도록 희석시켰다.
클로로포름 용매에 적색-발광의 상기 양자점을 상기 아크릴로일 포르폴린(ACMO)을 사용하여 분산시켰다.
고형분 함량 25%의 혼합물에 상기 양자점이 분산된 용액, 및 상기 (1-하이드록시사이클로헥실)(페닐)메타논(HCPM) 1.5g을 혼합하여, 실험 예 1 내지 실험 예 4에 따른 양자점 용액을 제조하였다.
실험 예 5에 따른 양자점 용액의 제조
상술된 실험 예 1에 따른 양자점 용액을 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트(PET) 기재 상게 2.5mm 두께로 코팅하였다.
코팅된 상기 기재를 공기 순환 오븐에서 60℃의 온도로 2.5분 동안 플래쉬 건조시켜, 대부분의 상기 이소프로필알코올을 제거하여 제거시켰다.
상기 건조 공정 이후, 고압 수은 램프(일리노이주 플래인필드 소재의 피피지 인더스트리즈의 'QC 1202'를 사용)를 제공하여, 건조된 상기 코팅을 경화시켰다. 이 때, 상기 경화 조건은 20m/min, 400V, 100mJ/cm2, 및 공기 분위기이다.
상기 경화 공정 이후, 상기 기재 상에 투명한 상기 벌크 캡슐 구조체가 제조되었다.
상기 벌크 캡슐 구조체를 필름 스크래핑 공정으로 상기 기재 상에서 제거한 후, 분쇄과정을 거쳐 마이크로캡슐양자점이 제조되었다.
상기 양자점 마이크로캡슐을 상기 디클로로벤젠 용매 내에 제공하여, 나노캡슐양자점이 제조되었다.
다시 상술된 실험 예 1과 동일하게 제조하되, 상기 CdSe@ZnS 양자점 대신 상기 나노캡슐양자점을 제공하여, 실험 예 5에 따른 양자점 잉크를 제조하였다.
상술된 실험 예 1 내지 실험 예 5에 따른 양자점 잉크의 조성비가 아래의 <표 1>에 작성되었다.

도 4 내지 도 6는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 제조 공정을 촬영한 사진이다.도 4을 참조하면, 도 1 및 도 2를 참조하여 상술된 바와 같이, 상기 패키지 본체는 상기 오목홈의 반대면 상에 전극을 포함하였다. 이에 따라, 도 4에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 패키지 본체는 상기 전극을 연결하는 구조체를 더 포함하였다. 상기 구조체는 다수의 상기 발광다이오드가 제공될 수 있고, 상기 발광다이오드의 양극, 및 음극이 병렬 연결되는 구조를 가졌다. 도 4의 (b)에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 구조체는 동일한 극끼리 병렬 연결되도록 전선을 납땜하여 제조하였다. 상기 납땜 공정 이후, 상기 전선의 양단에 전원을 연결하여, 상기 발광다이오드의 상기 양극, 및 상기 음극을 통해 전기 에너지가 제공될 수 있다.
도 5의 (a)에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 구조체 상에 상기 금속 전극, 및 상기 발광다이오드가 형성된 패키지 본체가 제공되었다. 상기 패키지 본체가 제공된 이후, 도 5의 b)에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 발광다이오드를 덮도록 상기 양자점 잉크가 제공되었다.
도 6의 (a)에 도시된 바와 같이, 다수의 상기 발광다이오드에 상기 양자점 잉크가 제공되었다. 상기 양자점 잉크를 제공한 후에, 도 6의 (b)에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 발광다이오드가 작동되고 동시에 상기 양자점 잉크가 경화되었다.
도 7 내지 도 11은 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 0.5W-LED를 이용한 온-칩 적용결과를 촬영한 사진이다.
도 7 내지 도 11을 참조하면, 0.5W의 발광다이오드를 포함하는 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 온-칩 테스트 결과를 나타낼 수 있다. 도 6 내지 도 10에 도시된 비교 예 1, 실험 예 1 내지 실험 예 3, 및 실험 예 5에 따른 양자점 잉크의 경화 조건이 아래의 <표 2>에 작성되었다.

도 7에 도시된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지(비교 예 1)는 상기 광변환층을 포함하지 않을 수 있다. 즉, 상기 광변환층을 형성하는 단계 전까지, 제조된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지일 수 있다.도 8 및 도 10을 참조하면, 상기 양자점 잉크 내의 상기 양자점의 농도에 따른 결과를 확인할 수 있다. 이 때, 상기 양자점 잉크는 적색 발광 양자점을 포함할 수 있다. 도 8의 (a) 및 도 10의 (a)에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 발광다이오드를 작동시키기 전에는 모두 적색을 나타내는 것을 알 수 있다. 반면, 도 8의 (b) 및 도 10의 (b)에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 발광다이오드를 작동시키는 경우, 상기 양자점의 농도가 높을수록, 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 발광색이 적색에 가까운 것을 알 수 있다. 이에 따라, 상기 광변환층은 상기 발광다이오드에서 방출되는 빛 중에서 일부는 투과시키고, 나머지 일부는 상기 양자점에서 흡수하는 것을 알 수 있다.도 9 및 도 10을 참조하면, 상기 양자점 잉크는 동일하되, 상기 양자점 잉크를 경화시키는 방법을 달리하여 제조된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지가 촬영되었다. 도 9의 (b)에 도시된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지(실험 예 2)는 상기 양자점 잉크에 자외선을 조사하여, 경화시킨 후, 상기 발광다이오드를 작동시켰다. 반면, 도 10의 (b)에 도시된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지(실험 예 3)는 상기 양자점 잉크를 코팅한 후, 상기 발광다이오드를 작동시켜, 상기 양자점 잉크를 경화시켰다. 도 9 및 도 10에 도시된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 발광색이 전영역에서 실질적으로 동일한 것을 확인하였다. 이에 따라, 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지는 상기 양자점 잉크를 도포한 후, 상기 자외선 조사와 같은 전처리없이, 상기 발광다이오드를 작동시키는 단순한 공정으로도 용이하게 제조될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
도 10 및 도 11을 참조하면, 상기 양자점 잉크의 농도는 동일하되, 도 11에 도시된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 상기 양자점은 표면에 캡슐층을 더 포함할 수 있다. 즉, 도 10에 도시된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지(실험 예 3)는 코어-쉘 구조의 상기 양자점을 포함하고, 도 11에 도시된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지(실험 예 5)는 코어-쉘 구조의 상기 양자점 표면에 캡슐층을 더 포함할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 실험 예 5에 따른 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지는 실험 예 3에 따른 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지보다 낮은 농도의 코어-쉘 구조의 상기 양자점을 포함할 수 있다. 따라서, 도 10의 (a) 및 도 11의 (a)에 도시된 바와 같이, 실험 예 5에 따른 양자점 잉크를 이용한 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지는 실험 예 3에 따른 양자점 잉크를 이용한 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지3)보다 도 7에 도시된 비교 예 1에 따른 양자점 잉크를 이용한 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지와 더 가까운 색을 나타내는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한, 도 10의 (b) 및 도 11의 (b)에서도, 도 10의 (a) 및 도 10의 (b)와 실질적으로 동일한 결과를 확인할 수 있다.
도 12 및 도 13은 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 8W-LED를 이용한 온-칩 적용결과를 촬영한 사진이다.
도 12 및 도 13을 참조하면, 도 7 및 도 10에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 온-칩 테스트 결과를 나타내되, 상기 발광다이오드의 전력이 10W인 것을 사용하여, 상기 온-칩 테스트 결과를 촬영하였다. 도 12 및 도 13에 도시된 비교 예 2, 및 실험 예 4에 따른 양자점 잉크의 경화 조건이 아래의 <표 3>에 작성되었다.

도 12를 참조하면, 도 7을 참조하여 상술된 바와 같이, 상기 광변환층이 제조되기 전의 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 발광 전과 후가 촬영되었다.도 13의 (a)를 참조하면, 도 10을 참조하여 상술된 바와 같이, 코어-쉘 구조의 적색 발광 양자점, 및 개질된 상기 무기산화물과 상기 가교성 물질의 비율이 1:10인 상기 양자점 잉크가 상기 도 12에 도시된 상기 오목홈 상에 주입되었다. 도 13의 (b)에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 발광다이오드를 작동시켜, 상기 양자점 잉크를 경화시켰다. 이 때, 도 10을 참조하여 상술된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지(실험 예 3)과 달리, 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지(실험 예 4)는 상기 발광다이오드의 전력이 높고, 이에 따라, 상기 양자점 잉크가 시간에 따라 증발되는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서, 상기 양자점 잉크는 0.5W의 저전력에서 용이하게 경화되는 것을 확인하였다.
도 14는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 0.2W 청색 Bare LED를 이용한 온-칩 적용결과를 촬영한 사진이고, 도 15는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 0.2W 청색 Bare LED의 20mA 입력 전류에서 얻은 발광스펙트럼을 나타내는 도면이다.
도 14를 참조하면, <표 1>을 참조하여 상술된 실험 예 3 및 실험 예 4와 동일한 상기 양자점 잉크 조성비를 갖되, 0.2W의 청색 발광 다이오드를 포함하는 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지가 촬영되었다. 즉, 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지는 0.2W의 청색 발광 다이오드에 의해 상기 양자점 잉크가 경화되었다.
도 15를 참조하면, 도 14를 참조하여 제조된 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 발광 스펙트럼이 확인되었다.
도 15에 도시된 바와 같이, 온-칩 되기 전, 0.2W의 상기 청색 발광다이오드는 약 380nm에서 발광 피크를 갖는 것을 알 수 있다.
반면, 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지는 약 620nm에서 발광 피크를 갖는 상기 적색-발광 양자점을 갖는 상기 광변환층을 포함하였고, 이에 따라, 상기 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지는 상기 청색 발광다이오드의 발광 피크, 및 상기 적색-발광 양자점의 발광 피크를 모두 나타내는 것을 확인하였다.
이상, 본 발명의 바람직한 실시 예를 사용하여 상세히 설명하였으나, 본 발명의 범위는 특정 실시 예에 한정되는 것은 아니며, 첨부된 특허청구범위에 의하여 해석되어야 할 것이다. 또한, 이 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 습득한 자라면, 본 발명의 범위에서 벗어나지 않으면서도 많은 수정과 변형이 가능함을 이해하여야 할 것이다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지 및 그 제조 방법은, 생활용 조명, 자동차용 조명, 건축용 조명, 농업 및 어업용 조명, 의료 및 미용 기구, 신호등 등 다양한 산업 분야에 활용될 수 있다.

Claims (12)

  1. 오목홈이 형성된 패키지 본체;
    상기 오목홈의 하부면 상에 배치된 금속 기판;
    상기 오목홈의 측면 상에 배치된 반사판;
    상기 금속 기판 상에 배치된 발광다이오드; 및
    상기 발광다이오드를 덮는 광변환층을 포함하되,
    상기 광변환층은,
    무기산화물 표면의 경화성 관능기와, 가교성 물질이 결합되어 형성된 레진; 및
    상기 레진 상에 분산된 양자점을 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지.
  2. 제1 항에 있어서,
    상기 발광다이오드는, 플립-칩 타입의 발광다이오드를 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지.
  3. 제1 항에 있어서,
    상기 광변환층은, 상기 발광다이오드에서 방출되는 빛 중의 일부를 변환시켜 백색광을 방출하는 것을 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지.
  4. 제1 항에 있어서,
    상기 발광다이오드는, 청색 발광다이오드를 포함하고,
    상기 광변환층은, 적색 발광 양자점 및 녹색 발광 양자점을 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지.
  5. 제1 항에 있어서,
    상기 발광다이오드는, 청색 발광다이오드를 포함하고,
    상기 광변환층은, 상기 청색 발광다이오드에서 방출되는 빛을 백색광으로 변환시키는 황색 발광 양자점을 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지.
  6. 제1 항에 있어서,
    상기 광변환층은, 상기 발광다이오드의 발광 피크 파장보다 장파장의 영역에서 발광 피크 파장을 갖는 적어도 하나 이상의 양자점을 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지.
  7. 제1 항에 있어서,
    상기 양자점은, CdS, CdSe, CdTe, ZnS, ZnSe, ZnTe, ZnO, HgS, HgSe, HgTe, GaN, GaP, GaAs, GaSb, AlN, AlP, AlAs, AlSb, InP, InAs, 또는 InSb 중에서 적어도 어느 하나를 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지.
  8. 제1 항에 있어서,
    상기 광변환층은, 광산란제를 더 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지.
  9. 제8 항에 있어서,
    상기 광산란제는, 에어 버블, 유리 비드 또는 중합체 비드 중에서 적어도 어느 하나를 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지.
  10. 오목홈이 형성된 패키지 본체, 상기 오목홈의 하부면 상에 배치된 금속 기판, 상기 오목홈의 측면 상에 배치된 반사판, 및 상기 금속 기판 상에 배치된 발광다이오드를 포함하는 예비 패키지 구조체를 준비하는 단계; 및
    상기 예비 패키지 구조체의 상기 발광다이오드를 덮는 광변환층을 형성하는 단계를 포함하되,
    상기 광변환층은, 무기산화물 표면의 경화성 관능기와, 가교성 물질이 결합되어 형성된 레진, 및 상기 레진 상에 분산된 양자점을 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 제조 방법.
  11. 제10 항에 있어서,
    상기 광변환층을 형성하는 단계는,
    상기 양자점, 경화성 관능기를 갖는 무기산화물, 및 가교성 물질을 포함하는 양자점 잉크를 준비하는 단계;
    상기 양자점 잉크를 상기 발광다이오드가 형성된 상기 오목홈 상에 주입하는 단계; 및
    상기 발광다이오드에서 방출되는 빛으로 상기 경화성 관능기, 및 상기 가교성 물질이 가교된 레진을 형성하고, 상기 레진 내에 분산된 상기 양자점을 포함하는 상기 광변환층을 형성하는 단계를 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 제조 방법.
  12. 제11 항에 있어서,
    상기 가교성 물질은, 올리고 아크릴레이트, 실록잔계 아크릴레이트, 폴리 실라잔, 또는 실리콘 고분자 수지 중에서 적어도 어느 하나를 포함하는 양자점 발광다이오드 패키지의 제조 방법.
