  • Melamine-formaldehyde core-shell particles were prepared having a shell of melamine- formaldehyde, a core containing a 15-component model fragrance, an average particle diameter of approximately 13pm and a zeta potential of approximately -20mV (when measured as described above). The particles were obtained in an aqueous slurry having a solids content of about 30 wt.%. A laundry liquid was separately prepared having ingredients shown in Table 1.
  • the aqueous particle slurry was diluted with water to reduce the solids content to about 10 wt.%.
  • a formulation according to the invention (Example 1 ) was prepared by first adding CTAC (cetyl trimethylammonium chloride) to the 10 wt% aqueous particle slurry and mixing for 30 minutes. A 1 ml aliquot of the CTAC-treated particle slurry so obtained was then mixed with 9ml of the laundry liquid to form the Example 1 formulation.
  • a control formulation was also prepared by adding a 1 ml aliquot of the 10 wt.% aqueous particle slurry (not mixed with CTAC) to 9ml of the laundry liquid.
  • test samples of the control and Example 1 formulations respectively were placed on a roller for 24 hours, followed by centrifugation for 30 minutes at 1 10OOrpm. The supernatant liquid was then removed and filtered through a 3.1 pm filter. 1 ml of the filtrate was then placed in a 20ml headspace vial. The headspace above the filtrate was measured after incubation for 10 minutes at 40°C on a CombiPAL autosampler. Sampling was achieved using a DMS/Carboxen/DVB fibre with an exposure time of 60 seconds. The fibre was then desorbed for 5 minutes at 270°C in the inlet of an Agilent 6890 gas chromatograph.
  • Example 1 demonstrate a significantly lower fragrance leakage percentage than the uncoated control particles when incorporated into laundry liquid.
  • the laundry liquid is diluted in a washing operation (typically 35ml liquid into 21 L water) the coating is removed.
  • the particles of the invention provide an improvement in the stability of the fragrance toward leakage in product, whilst providing an enhanced fragrance experience in the early stages post wash.

L'invention concerne une particule de distribution d'agent bénéfique présentant une structure cœur-écorce dans laquelle une écorce poreuse de matériau polymère piège un cœur contenant l'agent bénéfique ; dans laquelle les pores dans l'écorce sont au moins partiellement occlus par un revêtement éliminable par lavage disposé au niveau de la surface extérieure de l'écorce ; et caractérisée en ce que le revêtement éliminable par lavage est formé à partir de particules déposées d'un complexe d'un tensioactif cationique et d'un tensioactif anionique. L'invention concerne également une composition de traitement du linge comprenant une particule de distribution d'agent bénéfique telle que définie ci-dessus.
