Definitions
- the present invention relates to an optical film for a mini LED or micro LED backlight unit, and more particularly, to an optical film for diffusing and condensing the mini LED or micro LED light.
- LEDs light emitting diodes
- LEDs have the advantages of miniaturization, light weight and low power consumption. Accordingly, LEDs are actively utilized as light sources of various image display devices.
- a general backlight unit is classified into an edge type and a direct type according to the arrangement of the LED light sources.
- the edge type has a structure in which one or a pair of light sources are disposed at one side of the light guide plate, Two or two pairs of light sources have a structure that is disposed on both sides or four sides of the light guide plate, respectively.
- the direct type has a structure in which a plurality of light sources are disposed under the optical sheet.
- the direct type has a merit suitable for a large-area image display device because splitting is possible compared to the edge type, so that an image can be realized more delicately than the edge type, and the LED can be selectively turned on / off.
- the chip size of the LED light source is gradually miniaturized. As the LED light source becomes smaller, the power consumption of the image display device can be reduced, and the uniformity of light can be improved.

Description

백라이트 유닛(backlight unit)은 LCD(liquid crystal display)의 광원이다.
LED는 LED 칩의 크기에 따라, 대형(large) LED(칩의 크기: 1,000 ㎛ 이상), 중형(middle) LED(칩의 크기: 300 - 500 ㎛), 소형(small) LED(칩의 크기: 200 - 300 ㎛), 미니(mini) LED(칩의 크기 100 - 200 ㎛), 마이크로(micro) LED(칩의 크기: 100 ㎛ 이하)로 분류될 수 있다.
