当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤は、稲等の農作物が作付される土壌に混合されることでその土壌における農作物へのヒ素の吸収を抑制するヒ素吸収抑制剤である。当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤は、鉄を主成分とし、リン及び硫黄を含有する粒状体である。
当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤の主成分は鉄であり、リン及び硫黄を含有している。また、当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤は、鉄の全含有率を[T.Fe]質量%、金属鉄の含有率を[M.Fe]質量%とした場合に、下記式(1)を満たす。

当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤の主成分である鉄の全含有率[T.Fe]は、50質量%以上である。当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤における鉄とは、価数ゼロの状態の金属鉄並びに酸化鉄及び水酸化鉄等の価数が非ゼロの状態の鉄化合物を合計したものを示す。当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤の鉄の全含有率は、金属鉄の含有率を高めるために高いほど好ましく、100質量%未満である。鉄の全含有率の下限としては、80質量%が好ましく、90質量%がより好ましく、93.5質量%がさらに好ましい。鉄の全含有率が上記下限に満たないと、水分に溶解する金属鉄の量が不足することによりヒ素が不溶化されず、農作物へのヒ素の吸収が抑制されないおそれがある。
当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤は、農作物へのヒ素の吸収を抑制するために、46.5質量%以上の金属鉄を含有する。当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤の金属鉄の含有率[M.Fe]は、高いほど好ましく、100質量%未満である。金属鉄の含有率の下限としては、76.5質量%が好ましく、86.5質量%がより好ましく、90質量%がさらに好ましい。金属鉄の含有率が上記下限に満たないと、水分に溶解する金属鉄の量が不足することによりヒ素が不溶化されず、農作物へのヒ素の吸収が抑制されないおそれがある。
当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤は、金属鉄の水分への溶解を促進するためにリンを含有する。リンの含有率[P]の下限としては、0.005質量%が好ましく、0.01質量%がより好ましく、0.015質量%がさらに好ましい。一方、リンの含有率の上限としては、5質量%が好ましく、1質量%がより好ましく、0.1質量%がさらに好ましい。リンの含有率が上記下限に満たないと、金属鉄の水分への溶解が促進されないおそれがある。逆に、リンの含有率が上記上限を超えると、必要以上にコストが増大するおそれがある。
当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤は、金属鉄の水分への溶解を促進するために硫黄を含有する。硫黄の含有率[S]の下限としては、0.005質量%が好ましく、0.01質量%がより好ましく、0.015質量%がさらに好ましい。一方、硫黄の含有率の上限としては、5質量%が好ましく、1質量%がより好ましく、0.1質量%がさらに好ましい。硫黄の含有率が上記下限に満たないと、金属鉄の水分への溶解が促進されないおそれがある。逆に、硫黄の含有率が上記上限を超えると、土壌が酸性化するおそれがあるとともに、必要以上にコストが増大するおそれがある。
当該土壌は、稲等の農作物が作付される土壌であり、上述のヒ素吸収抑制剤が略均一に混合されている状態で用いられる。当該土壌としては、農作物を育成可能なものであればよく、例えば水田の土壌が用いられるが、特に限定されない。
当該栽培方法は、土壌にヒ素吸収抑制剤を混合する混合工程と、混合工程後の土壌に農作物を作付けする作付け工程とを有している。土壌としては、特に限定されないが、水田の土壌が用いられる。また、農作物としては、特に限定されないが、水稲が用いられる。

混合工程では、土壌に上述のヒ素吸収抑制剤を均一に混合する。この混合には公知の攪拌機が用いられるとよい。混合工程は、敷設された土壌上にヒ素吸収抑制剤を散布した後に攪拌機を用いて混合する工程であってもよいし、敷設前の土壌とヒ素吸収抑制剤とを攪拌機を用いて混合する工程であってもよい。また、土壌に対するヒ素吸収抑制剤の混合比は、上述の土壌と同様に、質量基準で0.1%以上10%以下であると好ましい。また、混合工程において、肥料がヒ素吸収抑制剤と併せて土壌に混合されてもよい。
作付け工程では、混合工程後の土壌に農作物を作付けする。具体的には、ヒ素吸収抑制剤が混合されかつ敷設された状態の土壌に対して農作物が作付けされる。作付けは、田植え機等の公知の農業機械を用いて行われてもよいし、人の手により行われてもよい。
当該ヒ素吸収抑制剤は、鉄を主成分とする粒状体であり、鉄の全含有率と金属鉄の含有率との差が小さいので、金属鉄が粒状体の表面に表出しやすく、金属鉄の土壌中の水分への溶解が酸化鉄等によって阻害されにくい。この作用は、鉄の全含有率と金属鉄の含有率との差が小さいことにより実現されるものであって、金属鉄の含有率が単に高いだけでは実現され難い。
本発明のヒ素吸収抑制剤、土壌及び栽培方法は、上記実施形態に限定されるものではない。
表1に示す化学成分及び粒度分布の鉄粉を土壌と混合する資材として準備した。表1の資材の化学成分は、以下の手法により分析した。金属鉄の含有率[M.Fe]は、エチレンジアミン四酢酸(ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid:EDTA)をキレート試薬として用いたキレート滴定で決定した。また、鉄の全含有率[T.Fe]は、金属鉄の定量操作で得られた残渣に融剤を加えて加熱し、加熱後の融成物に酸を加えて溶液化することで酸化鉄及び水酸化鉄等の価数が非ゼロの鉄を抽出し、原子吸光法を用いてこの抽出物中の鉄の含有率を決定し、さらに決定した鉄の含有率と上記金属鉄の含有率との和を算出することにより得た。また、リンの含有率[P]は、誘導結合プラズマ発光分光分析法により決定した。さらに、硫黄の含有率[S]は、燃焼赤外線吸収法により決定した。なお、表1のΔは、鉄の全含有率と金属鉄の含有率との差を示し、鉄の全含有率、リンの含有率及び硫黄の含有率を合計した上で100質量%に満たない残部は不可避的不純物である。また、粒度分布はJIS-Z8801-1(2006)の規格に準拠した試験用ふるいを用い、頻度分布を分析することにより決定した。
No.1~No.6の資材が持つ農作物へのヒ素の吸収を抑制する機能を検証するため、水稲(コシヒカリ)を栽培する栽培試験を行った。No.1~No.6の資材及び比較用に用意したNo.7の水酸化鉄の粉状体を土壌に混合する資材として用い、No.1~No.7の資材と土壌とを、表2に示す配合量で混合した。次に、No.1~No.7の資材を混合した土壌及びNo.8の資材を混合していない比較用の土壌を表面積が約200cm2のポットにそれぞれ充填した。また、統計精度を高めるために、これらを3セット分ずつ用意した。各ポットに充填されたNo.1~No.8の土壌に対し、窒素、リン酸及びカリをそれぞれ14質量%ずつ含有する化学肥料をポット当たり1.43gずつ混合した後、各ポットにおいて水稲を栽培した。収穫後の水稲から得られた玄米を硝酸及び過酸化水素で分解し、分解後の溶液を希釈した。そして誘導結合プラズマ質量分析計(ICP-MS)を用いてこの希釈液中のヒ素濃度を測定し、希釈率に基づき玄米のヒ素含有率を算出した。3セット分の玄米のヒ素含有率の平均値及び標準偏差を表2に示す。
資材を用いることによる水稲におけるヒ素の吸収の抑制効果と水管理との相関を検証するため、2種類の水管理を用いて水稲(コシヒカリ)の栽培試験を行った。表3において、No.9は、土壌に混合する資材として表1のNo.1のヒ素吸収抑制剤を用いた例であり、No.10は、土壌に混合する資材として水酸化鉄の粒状体を用いた例であり、No.11は、土壌に資材を混合しない例である。土壌に対する資材の配合量は表3に示す通りである。No.9及びNo.10については、土壌表面に資材を手で略均一に散布した後、土壌表面から深さ約15cmまでの土壌を耕運機で略均一に混合した。No.9~No.11の例では、それぞれの土壌を1区画の面積が3m×4mとなるように区画し、3区画分×2セット(2種類の水管理用)の土壌を水稲の栽培に用いた。また、No.9~No.11の土壌に対し、窒素、リン酸及びカリをそれぞれ15質量%ずつ含有する化学肥料を33.9g/m2混合した。
表4に示す化学成分及び粒度分布の鉄粉を、No.12~No.15の資材として準備した。表4の資材の化学成分の分析方法は、表1の資材の化学成分の分析方法と同様である。
Claims (6)
- 農作物が作付される土壌に混合されることでその土壌における農作物へのヒ素の吸収を抑制するヒ素吸収抑制剤であって、
鉄を主成分とし、リン及び硫黄を含有する粒状体であり、
鉄の全含有率を[T.Fe]質量%、金属鉄の含有率を[M.Fe]質量%とした場合に、下記式(1)を満たす。
0≦[T.Fe]-[M.Fe]≦3.5 ・・・(1) - 金属鉄の上記含有率[M.Fe]が90質量%以上である請求項1に記載のヒ素吸収抑制剤。
- リンの含有率を[P]質量%、硫黄の含有率を[S]質量%とした場合に、下記式(2)を満たす請求項1に記載のヒ素吸収抑制剤。
0.02≦[P]+[S] ・・・(2) - 請求項1、請求項2又は請求項3に記載のヒ素吸収抑制剤が混合されている土壌。
- 土壌に対する上記ヒ素吸収抑制剤の混合比が質量基準で0.1%以上である請求項4に記載の土壌。
- 農作物の栽培方法であって、
土壌にヒ素吸収抑制剤を混合する工程と、
上記混合工程後の上記土壌に農作物を作付けする工程と
を有し、
上記ヒ素吸収抑制剤が、
鉄を主成分とし、リン及び硫黄を含有する粒状体であり、
鉄の全含有率を[T.Fe]質量%、金属鉄の含有率を[M.Fe]質量%とした場合に、下記式(1)を満たす。
