  • the uprights 40 can also be made of another type of material, provided that it has suitable mechanical characteristics.

  • the uprights 40 are inserted, with their lower end portion 40B, into corresponding seats 20 provided in the box-like pavement element 2, and are made integral with the latter by a subsequent casting, into the interstices between the end portions 40B and the aforesaid seats 20, of fast solidifying fastening material.
  • the aforementioned fastening material can be cement mortar, whereas if said element 2 is made of cast iron, the fastening material can be epoxy adhesive or equivalent.
  • the uprights 40 can be fastened to the box-like pavement element 2, no matter how it is built, by a perforated anchor plate, not shown, provided at the base of each of them, designed to be blocked to the aforementioned box-like pavement element 2 by means of screws or expansion plugs.
  • a substantially vertical protection 41 integral with the uprights 40, extends downwards starting from said predetermined height level of the parapet 4.
  • Said protection 41 can be made in many variants; in the example shown in the enclosed figures, it is composed of a plurality of horizontal bar elements 42 made of metal, preferably of tubular shape, arranged at different heights.
  • the protection 41 is formed by a panel structure made, at least partially, of metal, for example vertical laths, or a solid or perforated sheet metal.
  • the protection 41 is formed by a panel structure with wire mesh.

  • the mutual fixing of the protections 41 can also act as a coupling device 3 of the whole pavement element 2 and the subsequent one, if these elements are arranged in succession leaning one against another.
  • the parapet 4 shown in the figures includes a vertical foot stopping wall 44, provided from the upper horizontal side 2A of the box like pavement element 2, or from the walking surface 10, extending upwards with a predetermined height and having longitudinal extension equal to that of the box-like pavement element 2.
  • the vertical foot stopping wall 44 is necessary in environments where occupational safety regulations apply: actually, the protected functional pavement 100, in the illustrated embodiment, is particularly suitable for being placed beside a roadbed M on which the tracks of the railway lines are located.
  • the protected functional pavement 100 can include two parapets 4, on both sides of the walking surface 10 with or without the foot stopping walls 44.
  • heating means are provided inside each box-like pavement element 2 to raise the temperature of the walking surface 10 or parts thereof.
  • heating means are advantageously installed inside the box-like pavement element 2, preferably just below the horizontal side 2a of the pavement element, which is a part of the walking surface 10.
  • the heating means can be provided inside the through longitudinal channelling 12. If more than one channelling are provided, they may also be installed inside all or some of the aforesaid channelling 12.
  • Check and control means are provided to activate the heating means after a minimum threshold temperature has been reached, for example the temperature below which a coat of ice tends to form on the walking surface 10, i.e. about zero degrees centigrade.
  • the heating means are electric and include one or more resistive heaters, suitably connected to each other and to an electrical system specifically designed to power them, through sockets and safety plugs of known type.
  • the heating means are formed by the heat exchanging circulating fluid. Consequently, they are made up of pipes, suitably equipped with hydraulic inlet and outlet connectors to connect the various 1 modules close to each other, inside which the aforementioned heat exchanging fluid can circulate.
  • the fluid may consist of water or other compounds, for example containing antifreeze substances.
  • a thermal power station equipped with a heat generator and delivery pumps to make the heat exchanging fluid circulate between the generator and pipes.
  • the advantageous function of the above mentioned heating means is to clear the walking surface from snow or ice, which can be dangerous for the users safety and is particularly advantageous in installations of the protected functional pavement according to the invention in sites with harsh climate, at least in the coldest period of the year.
  • the protected functional pavement 100 of the invention comprises, for its whole or partial extension, a safety life line, or at least a set of components necessary to set a fall arrest system for the protected pavement 100 users under situations of risk.
  • a safety life line is advantageous if a section of the protected pavement 100 is installed at a cliff, a bridge, or any other site where a real fall risk exists for people operating outside the same protect pavement 100 for repair or maintenance interventions, or the like.
  • the module 1 comprises one or more eyebolts - items consisting of a suitably sized ring, and a support stem extending therefrom, both made of steel or other material having suitable mechanical features - arranged near the side parapet 4, and preferably outside it.
  • the eyebolts are embedded in the upper side of the box-like pavement element 2, or otherwise secured to the same element 2 by a plate, mounted at the eyebolt support stem end and bolted to the pavement surface.
  • the eyebolts provided with modules 1 are suitably spaced so as to comply, when several modules 1 are installed, the laws and regulations in force, that set a distance lower than 2 meters between two consecutive fall arrest elements.
  • a person who has to word in a situation of risk outside of the side parapet 4 can therefore hook a safety carabiner connected to his harness to the eyebolt, and unfasten it only after being secured to the subsequent eyebolt with a second carabiner.
  • the protected functional pavement 100 can provide for means for mounting a conventional safety life line.
  • the module 1 is provided with anchoring means, fit to fasten a suitable steel cord, that is fixed to the aforesaid anchoring means of every module 1 of the pavement 100 section, subsequently to its installation.
  • a module 1 of the pavement section can be provided with a gate, made in its side parapet 4 according to known techniques.
  • each module is self-supporting, so the preparation of the "bed” is reduced to a simple levelling and, if necessary, to the laying of filler material such as gravel or similar. If the bottom is already levelled and sufficiently resistant, such as asphalt or other structure, the modules can be laid in direct contact.

  • the reduced production costs together with the rapidity of installation, makes the modules suitable for pavements for single events such as concerts, trade fairs, sporting events or the like, with the possibility of removing them easily at the end of the event and reuse them, even in another site.

Abstract

Selon l'invention, une chaussée fonctionnelle protégée (100) est constituée de modules (1) qui sont combinés dans la direction longitudinale par des moyens de couplage (3), et agencés simplement sur un sol horizontal (S). Chaque module (1) comprend un élément de chaussée en forme de boîte (2), dont le côté horizontal inférieur (2B) est en contact avec ledit sol (S), tandis que le côté horizontal supérieur (2A) définit une partie correspondante de la surface de marche (10) de ladite chaussée fonctionnelle protégée (100). Un parapet latéral (4) s'élève à partir de l'élément de chaussée en forme de boîte (2). Le parapet latéral a une hauteur prédéterminée, suffisante pour retenir le corps d'une personne afin d'empêcher sa chute au-dessous. L'épaisseur de l'élément de chaussée en forme de boîte (2) définit une canalisation longitudinale traversante (12), dans laquelle peuvent être logés des câbles électriques et/ou des tuyaux de transport de fluide. La chaussée fonctionnelle protégée (100) offre diverses applications y compris, en particulier, celle à côté des plateformes (M) sur lesquelles sont situés les rails des voies de chemin de fer.
