The present invention relates to a portable electric grill (1) comprising two barbecue units (2) with cooking zones (B) that can be used together or separately, each having a body (5) whereon a wire grid (3) and/or a plurality of skewers (4) supporting the foodstuffs to be cooked are placed; a plurality of radiant heaters (6) that are arranged in the body (5) and that enable the foodstuffs on the wire grid (3) and the skewers (4) to be cooked, and a tray (7) that is disposed at the lower part of the body (5), wherein the barbecue units (2) are connected to each other by means of at least one hinge (8) by positioning the bodies (5) thereof side by side on a horizontal surface.
Description
The present invention relates to a portable electric grill.
In portable electric grills, foodstuffs spitted on skewers or placed on the wire grid are roasted by means of heaters disposed in the body. The use of the electric grills with a plurality of cooking zones on a single body and hence with an increased cooking capacity are known in the state of the art. Due to the large bodies of the electric grills with higher cooking capacity, but not modular structures, difficulties in transportation, cleaning and usage are encountered and storage problems arise when not in use.
In the International Patent Applications No. WO2017005548 (A1), WO2017044060 (A1), WO2017061965 (A1) and WO2017097649 (A1), electric grills are disclosed, that have a plurality of cooking zones on a single body.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a portable electric grill with a modular structure and an increased usage area.
The barbecue units that form the electric grill realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention and that comprise separate cooking zones have modular structures and are detachably attached to each other side by side by means of hinges. Either one or both of the barbecue units are activated and the cooking is performed as per the user preference. In case the electric grill is not in use, a barbecue unit together with the wire grid, skewers and the tray on the body thereof can be folded on top of the other barbecue unit by being rotated around the axis of the hinge.
Each barbecue unit forming the electric grill has two sockets that are positioned symmetrically. By plugging a power transmission apparatus connected to the power source to the sockets that are close to each other on the two side by side barbecue units, the heaters in both barbecue units or, as per the user preference, only the heaters in one of the barbecue units are powered.
Furthermore, in the electric grill, structural measures are taken to prevent the wire grid, skewers and the tray from dislodging when a barbecue unit is folded on top of the other.
The electric grill realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

B: Cooking zone
The electric grill (1) comprises two barbecue units (2), each having a cooking zone (B), wherein the cooking zones (B) can be used together or separately.
Each barbecue unit (2) comprises a body (5) whereon a wire grid (3) supporting the foodstuffs to be cooked and/or a plurality of, preferably three, skewers (4) are placed; a plurality of heaters (6), preferably radiant heaters (6) also called as infrared radiation sources, that are arranged in the body (5) and that enable the foodstuffs on the wire grid (3) and the skewers (4) to be cooked, and a tray (7) that is disposed at the lower part of the body (5) and that collects the grease dripping from the foodstuffs being cooked.
The electric grill (1) of the present invention comprises the barbecue units (2)
- that are connected to each other by means of at least one hinge (8) by positioning the bodies (5) thereof side by side on a horizontal surface,
- wherein, when not in use (closed position), either one of the side by side bodies (5) together with the wire grid (3), the skewers (4) and the tray (7) can be placed on top of the other body (5) by being rotated around the axis of the hinge (8).
The barbecue units (2) that form the electric grill (1) of the present invention are modular and are connected to each other by means of the hinge (8) by being positioned side by side so as to be assembled and disassembled by the user. In the operational position wherein the heaters (6) are powered, either one or both of the barbecue units (2) are activated and the cooking is performed as per the user preference. In case the electric grill (1) is not in use, a barbecue unit (2) together with the wire grid (3), the skewers (4) and the tray (7) on the body (5) thereof can be folded on top of the other barbecue unit (2) by being rotated around the axis of the hinge (8).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the electric grill (1) comprises at least one socket (9) in each barbecue unit (2), and a power transmission apparatus (11) that has two on/off switches (10) that enable the power to be transmitted from the power source to the heaters (6) in both barbecue units (2) or, as per the user preference, to the heaters (6) in only one barbecue unit (2) by being connected to the sockets (9) that are close to each other on two side by side barbecue units (2).
Each barbecue unit (2) comprises two sockets (9) that are provided on the left and right sides of the body (5). When the two barbecue units (2) are positioned side by side, the power transmission apparatus (11) is connected to the right hand side socket (9) of one of the barbecue units (2) and the left hand side socket (9) of the other barbecue unit (2). When both barbecue units (2) are intended to be used, both on/off switches (10) on the power transmission apparatus (11) are turned on. The two sockets (9) provided on each barbecue unit (2) are electrically connected in parallel. All the heaters (6) in the barbecue unit (2) can be operated even when the electric connection is provided through only one socket (9). When two barbecue units (2) are positioned side by side to form a single unit, the power is supplied by connecting the power transmission apparatus (11) to two adjacent sockets (9) and the two barbecue units (2) can be operated separately or together. As each barbecue unit (2) has two symmetrical sockets (9), the barbecue units (2) are identical and can be produced as a single type of product. Each barbecue unit (2) comprises a protective cover (12) that is produced from plastic and that enables the unused socket (9) to be covered to ensure user safety when the barbecue units (2) are positioned side by side and powered.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the barbecue unit (2) comprises at least one wire grid holder (13) that is disposed on the wire grid (3) or on the body (5) and that enables the wire grid (3) to be held on the body (5) during the folding of the barbecue unit (2).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the barbecue unit (2) comprises at least one skewer holding extension (14) that is disposed on the wire grid (3) or on the body (5) and that holds the skewers (4) and preventing the skewers (4) from falling during the folding of the barbecue unit (2).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the barbecue unit (2) comprises at least one magnet (15) that is arranged between the base of the body (5) and the tray (7) and that holds the tray (7) and preventing the same from dislodging during the folding of the barbecue unit (2).
In the electric grill (1) of the present invention, the cooking capacity is increased by joining the two barbecue units (2). By means of the modular and detachable barbecue units (2), the production of only one type of barbecue unit (2) is required to produce an electric grill (1) and the user can join the two barbecue units (2) easily. When a barbecue unit (2) is folded onto the other, the wire grid (3) and the skewers (4) do not dislodge and the space occupied by the electric grill (1) when not in use is decreased.
