- the RS used as a reference signal (RS) for measuring a beam is referred to as a BRS, but may be referred to as another name.
- the synchronization signal or the xPBCH may be transmitted by applying all the analog beams in the analog beam group so that any terminal can receive it well.
- Compression sensing based transmission and reception techniques can be considered as a candidate technology for achieving low complexity compared to massive connectivity and its connectivity.
- the UE performs CSI feedback (eg, CQI, PMI) by using an implicit feedback method, and the UE operates in the closed-loop MIMO mode through the CSI feedback.
- the NR considers that the number of antennas in the base station gNB and the terminal increases.
- Method to allow the terminal to transmit explicit feedback eg, pure channel or channel covariance matrix or eigenvalue / eigenvector
- explicit feedback increases feedback overhead, it is desirable to deliver accurate information while reducing feedback bits as much as possible.

- FIG. 5 illustrates an example of sparsity of each domain of a Tx channel covariance matrix when configured as 256 antennas in mmWave.
- Channel sparsity can be used for efficient mmWave channel estimation due to the characteristics of millimeter channels with very few valid paths.
- the mmWave channel is characterized by having a very small number of effective paths, and thus, it is effective to use a compression sensing technique that detects a rare signal from a small number of observations. Is expected to be.
- a compression sensing technique for mmWave channel estimation is applied.

- y feedback information vector (UE and gNB)
- H channel matrix (or vector) measured by the UE from the DL reference signal
- DFT Discrete Fourier Transform
- vec_sel vectorization of matrix with selection.
- the terminal measures a DL channel using an RS (eg, CSI-RS) transmitted from a base station.
- the terminal may perform digital feedback to the base station through the following steps based on the measured DL channel estimation value.
- Step 1 The terminal expresses the measured channel matrix as X.
- X may be a covariance matrix of a channel or a channel matrix itself. Also, for the sake of explanation, assume that the size of matrix X is M by K.
- X is regarded and described as a covariance matrix, but it has been described above that it may be the channel matrix itself.
- Step 2 The UE obtains the matrix V1 by multiplying the left and right sides of X by the transformation matrices T1 and T2 (T1 and T2 may be different or the same).
- the size of the transformation matrix eg, the DFT matrix
- the matrix on the left side may be a transformation matrix T1 (e.g., DFT matrix) of M by M size
- the matrix on the right side may be a transformation matrix T2 (e.g., DFT matrix) of size K by K.
- channel sparsity operation can be considered in two ways.
- Step 5 The UE may construct a vector having R elements from V3 to vec_sel (V3), that is, a predetermined pattern from elements of the matrix.
- R may include all matrix elements of V3 as M x K, or when X is a Hermitian matrix, R may include only upper triangular elements.
- the terminal may configure a vector by selecting only a predetermined specific part associated with the channel sparsity part.
- the element multiplication may be performed on the masking matrix, that is, only the desired elements are 1 and the rest are 0 before giving channel sparsity.
- the UE can multiply the identity matrix in the form of an element product by limiting only to diagonal elements. Then, the terminal may configure a vector corresponding to the size of only the diagonal in the process of step 5.
- A size P by R
- y may also be obtained in the form of an integer or a natural number. Accordingly, the terminal may be transmitted to the base station by configuring a bit. Where P is the observation size (the size of y), and the total amount of feedback is P x (quantized bit per element).
- the M, K, R, A, and Q functions may be determined or set according to the system environment, and are values previously known to the terminal and the base station.
- Step 1 The base station may obtain a y value from the feedback (for example, PUCCH payload) transmitted by the terminal. Thereafter, the base station calculates an estimated value of V3 based on the y value and the sensing matrix A, and obtains hat_V3 by performing a reverse process of vec_sel ⁇ ( ⁇ 1), that is, vec_sel.
- Step 2 The base station obtains hat_V2 from hat_V3 through M ⁇ (-1) (the reverse process of quantization).
- Step 3 The base station can obtain the final hat_X (ie, an estimate of X) by multiplying the matrix matrix hat_V2 by the left and right sides of the matrix, and T1 ⁇ H and T2 ⁇ H.
- A, the quantization method M, the channel sparsity operation Q, and the method of vec_sel () may be a method previously promised by the base station and the terminal or may be adaptively changed through signaling.
- the sensing matrix A may generate the same A for every feedback by sharing the seed number.
- the seed number may be transmitted by the base station to the terminal as an RRC signal or a higher layer signal.
- the P value may be transmitted through RRC signaling or system information broadcasting.
- a terminal wants to transmit a Tx covariance matrix of a channel to a base station.
- the channel is represented by the matrix H, and it is assumed that the size is (the number of Rx ports of the terminal and the number of Tx ports of the base station), that is, 4 x 256.
- the size is (the number of Rx ports of the terminal and the number of Tx ports of the base station), that is, 4 x 256.
- the maximum size of the element of X may be limited through CQI or the like.
- Step 5 Since only the diagonal elements are limited, vec_sel (V3) from V3 is composed of a vector having a total of 256 elements. As a result, in a 256-length vector, four elements with values of [63, 19, 8, 3] are at the element position, or index, of the particular vector, and the rest are all zeros.
- the base station receiving the feedback performs the following procedure.
- Step 1 The base station obtains y from the payload and obtains an estimate of vec_sel (V3) through A used by the terminal (the same A is known by an appointment). That is, since the channel sparsity is sufficient, the base station can obtain a value of [63, 19, 8, 3] at four indexes from 256 sized vectors. After that, the base station obtains the hat_V3 from the vector through the reverse process of vec_sel ().
- Step 2 The base station acquires hat_V2 using hat_V3.
- the value since the value has already been quantized from natural to natural, there is no additional performance. However, for example, if the technique of quantizing complex values using the PSK method has to be reversed.
- Step 3 Use F x hat_V2 x F ⁇ H to find the final hat_X of the final X.
- Method 1 The sparsity operation converts all elements of the V1 matrix to 0 except for the larger L elements.
- Method 2 The channel sparsity operation converts the remaining elements to zero except for elements exceeding a certain threshold value in each element size value of the V1 matrix.
- FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating a method of quantizing a non-zero value of V2.
- the magnitude and angle of the complex value can be obtained, and then the magnitude and angle can be obtained through the quantization bits.
- the size is 3.2 and the angle is (1.2) / 4 * 2pi
- the size is quantized to 2 bits, that is, the angle is 4 bits with one of the values 1,2,3,4 in 16 steps.
- the base station can be interpreted as 52 and has a size of 3 and 1 ⁇ 4 * 2pi.
- Method 3 If an element has only a real value, the maximum element size can be quantized only with a real value.
- the diagonal element has only a real value and the off-diagonal value is a complex value
- the real value may give a quantization error if the elements are quantized with the same bit.
- the quantization technique can be applied to have the same resolution as the diagonal element by doubling the quantization size of the off-diagonal term.
- the base station may inform the terminal of P and each element quantization level through RRC signaling or higher layer signals or system information block (SIB) information.
- the base station may inform the terminal of the sparsity L through the RRC signaling.
- the UE may report the L detected after performing the Q ( ⁇ ) to the base station. Receive performance can be improved by accurately recognizing L at the receiving side.
- the embodiment of the present invention described above can significantly reduce the feedback overhead by performing feedback with only the dominant elements using the channel sparsity property rather than feeding back all the elements of X.
- each component or feature is to be considered optional unless stated otherwise.
- Each component or feature may be embodied in a form that is not combined with other components or features. It is also possible to combine some of the components and / or features to form an embodiment of the invention.

Some components or features of one embodiment may be included in another embodiment or may be replaced with corresponding components or features of another embodiment. It is obvious that the claims may be combined to form an embodiment by combining claims that do not have an explicit citation relationship in the claims or as new claims by post-application correction.
