Abstract
Ventilated umbrella comprising, in the first place, a central pole consisting of a hollow tubular body with through holes which allow the air to come into the hollow inner area thereof. Hollow tubular rods start out from the pole, and comprise respective through holes, and an impermeable and translucent fabric being linked to the rods. Inside the central pole there is a rotating longitudinal shaft, a motor, and an endless propeller integrally linked to the shaft, so as to create a stream of air circulating inside the pole and the rods. The ventilated umbrella comprises a resistance being linked to the motor for heating the stream of air circulating inside the pole and the rods.
Description
VENTILATED UMBRELLA
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The present invention may be included in the technical field of sun umbrellas, and it refers to an umbrella for protection against sun rays and weather conditions such as rain, comprising additional conditioning elements.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The need of providing utensils for protecting against sun rays or against inclement weather conditions has been known for long. Among those utensils umbrellas are very common, some of which have been modified or provided with additional conditioning elements.
For example, patent number US5349975 discloses the capacity of circulating an air stream so as to increase comfort. Another example is that being described in patent US517271 1 , comprising blades so as to generate an additional ventilation stream. Likewise, patent US7322208 describes a ventilation system using ice.
As it has been described, most of the modifications being made in umbrellas are directed to reduce the temperature of the air in the environment where these are located, but not to increase it. On the other hand, most of the disclosed devices use modifications having a great size regarding the umbrella proportions, limiting the folding capacity thereof and making transport and installation thereof difficult.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the present invention is to provide a traditional system for generating shade and protecting against rain, additionally comprising a ventilation system. In order to achieve that, an umbrella device is disclosed allowing air circulation
by adapting a unit driving the air through a central tube and through a side tubing system, the air being finally directed to the umbrella user.
The ventilation system is based on an endless propeller resting inside the main supporting tube of the umbrella, replacing the propeller system suggested in other inventions. This propeller is driven by a motor and an external power supply.
Another object of this invention is to heat the air by making it pass through a resistance system located at a distal end of the main tube comprising the endless propeller. Thus, using the umbrella will be also useful under cold weather conditions.
Modifying the dimensions thereof, this umbrella could also be used in outside environments such as refugee camps located in dessert areas, with important fluctuations of temperature between day and night.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 .- It shows a schematic view of a longitudinal section in the ventilated umbrella. Fig. 2.- It shows a detailed view of the upper end of a longitudinal section in the umbrella, wherein the direction of a possible air flow circulating inside said umbrella is additionally indicated.
Fig. 3.- It shows a detailed view of the lower end of a longitudinal section in the umbrella.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
The following is, with the help of the figures referred to above, a detailed explanation of a preferred embodiment of the object of the present invention.
The ventilated umbrella being described is formed by a central pole (1 ), consisting of a hollow tubular body, which has a lower end (2), intended to rest onto a surface, and an upper end (3), from which rods (4) start out being also hollow and tubular, supporting an impermeable and translucent fabric (5), as it is illustrated in figure 1 .
Both the central pole (1 ) and the rods (4) have a plurality of through holes (6) which allow air to pass towards the hollow inner area thereof. Inside the central pole (1 ) there is an endless propeller (7) integrally attached to a longitudinal shaft (8), which extends through the inner area of the central pole (1 ), between the upper (3) and lower (2) ends thereof.
As figure 2 shows, the inner area of the central pole (1 ) also comprises a resistance (9) integrally linked to the longitudinal shaft (8), which is intended to heat the air circulating inside said central pole (1 ). In this preferred embodiment, said resistance (9) is located near the upper end (3).
On the other hand, near the lower end (2) of the central pole (1 ) a power supply (10) is arranged, which in this case is a battery, being rechargeable through a cable (1 1 ). Said power supply (10) energises both the resistance (9), to which it is linked, and a motor (12), linked in turn to the transversal shaft (8) which it rotates, thus moving the endless propeller (7) which forces an air stream upwardly or downwardly through the respective holes (6) of the central pole (1 ) and the rods (4).
In case of wishing the air from said forced stream to be hot, the resistance (9) activation transmits heat to said air.
