 本発明は上記問題に鑑みてなされたものであり、給電状態によらず高い検出精度を得ることのできる金属異物検出装置を提供することを目的とする。
 本発明による金属異物検出装置は、交番磁界を用いて電力伝送を行うワイヤレス電力伝送システムに用いられる金属異物検出装置であって、磁界または電流を受けて振動信号を発生する複数のアンテナコイルと、前記複数のアンテナコイルのそれぞれと共振回路を形成する1以上のコンデンサと、前記複数のアンテナコイルを順次使用して金属異物の検出を行う検出部とを備え、前記検出部は、前記共振回路のそれぞれ異なる特性の変化に基づいて金属異物の有無を検出する複数の検出モードを有し、前記ワイヤレス電力伝送システムの給電状態及び前記複数のアンテナコイルそれぞれの位置の少なくとも一方に応じて前記複数の検出モードから1つを選択して、選択した検出モードにより金属異物の検出を行うことを特徴とする。
 本発明によれば、給電状態及び複数のアンテナコイルそれぞれの位置の少なくとも一方に応じて金属異物の検出のために参照する特性を変えることができるので、給電状態によらず高い検出精度を得ることが可能になる。
 上記各金属異物検出装置において、前記複数の検出モードは、前記共振回路から出力される振動信号に対応する信号の波形の積分値の変化に基づいて金属異物の有無を検出する第1の検出モードと、前記共振回路から出力される振動信号に対応する信号の1より大きい所定波数分の振動に要する時間の長さを示す振動時間長の変化に基づいて金属異物の有無を検出する第2の検出モードと、を含むこととしてもよい。これによれば、磁界がない状態であれば高い精度で金属異物の検出を行うことができる検出モード(積分値を参照する第1の検出モード)と、交番磁界の影響があっても精度があまり低下しないという特徴を有する検出モード(振動時間長を参照する第2の検出モード)とを、切り替えながら利用することが可能になる。
 上記金属異物検出装置において、前記複数のアンテナコイルのそれぞれに発生する電圧を検出する電圧検出部をさらに備え、前記検出部は、前記電圧検出部により検出された電圧値が予め設定された基準電圧値を下回る場合に、当該アンテナコイルに関して前記第1の検出モードを選択することとしてもよい。これによれば、局所的にあまり磁界の影響がないアンテナコイルについて、磁界がない状態で高い精度を得ることのできる検出モードを利用することが可能になるので、より高い検出精度を得ることが可能になる。
 上記各金属異物検出装置において、前記検出部は、前記第1の検出モードでは、前記共振回路から出力される振動信号に対応する信号の波形の積分値と、金属異物が無いときの前記積分値である基準積分値とを比較することによって前記積分値の変化を検出し、前記積分値と前記基準積分値とは、同一の波数の波形を積分して得られることとしてもよい。これによれば、第1の検出モードにおける誤検出の可能性を低減することができる。
 上記各金属異物検出装置において、前記検出部は、前記第2の検出モードでは、前記共振回路から出力される振動信号に対応する信号の1より大きい所定波数分の振動に要する時間の長さを示す振動時間長と、金属異物が無いときの前記振動時間長である基準時間長とを比較することによって前記振動時間長の変化を検出し、前記振動時間長と前記基準時間長とは、同一の波数の波形から得られることとしてもよい。これによれば、第2の検出モードにおける誤検出の可能性を低減することができる。
 本発明によるワイヤレス給電装置は、給電コイルから受電コイルにワイヤレスにて電力伝送するワイヤレス給電装置であって、前記給電コイルと、上記各金属異物検出装置のいずれかとを備えることを特徴とする。本発明によれば、給電中における金属異物の検出精度を高めた金属異物検出装置を備えるワイヤレス給電装置を得ることができる。
 本発明によるワイヤレス受電装置は、給電コイルから受電コイルにワイヤレスにて電力伝送するワイヤレス受電装置であって、前記受電コイルと、上記各金属異物検出装置のいずれかとを備えることを特徴とする。本発明によれば、給電中における金属異物の検出精度を高めた金属異物検出装置を備えるワイヤレス受電装置を得ることができる。
 本発明によるワイヤレス電力伝送システムは、給電コイルから受電コイルにワイヤレスにて電力伝送するワイヤレス電力伝送システムであって、前記給電コイルを有するワイヤレス給電装置と、前記受電コイルを有するワイヤレス受電装置と、を備え、前記ワイヤレス給電装置および前記ワイヤレス受電装置の少なくとも一方は、上記各金属異物検出装置のいずれかを備えることを特徴とする。本発明によれば、給電中における金属異物の検出精度を高めた金属異物検出装置をワイヤレス給電装置およびワイヤレス受電装置の少なくとも一方に備えるワイヤレス電力伝送システムを得ることができる。
 本発明によれば、給電状態によらず高い検出精度を得ることのできる金属異物検出装置を提供することが可能になる。

 以下、添付図面を参照しながら、本発明の実施の形態について詳細に説明する。なお、以下で説明する内容により、本発明が限定されるものではない。また、以下に記載した構成要素には、当業者が容易に想定できるもの、実質的に同一のものが含まれる。さらに、説明において同一要素または同一機能を有する要素には同一符号を用いることとし、重複する説明は省略する。
(第1の実施の形態)
 図1は、本発明の第1の実施の形態に係るワイヤレス電力伝送システム1の概略構成と、このワイヤレス電力伝送システム1に接続される負荷2とを示す図である。同図に示すように、ワイヤレス電力伝送システム1は、ワイヤレス給電装置10と、ワイヤレス受電装置20とを有して構成される。負荷2は、ワイヤレス受電装置20に接続される。
 ワイヤレス電力伝送システム1は、例えば、二次電池の電力を利用する電気自動車(EV: Electric Vehicle)やハイブリッド自動車(HV: Hybrid Vehicle)などの移動体への給電用に用いられるシステムである。この場合、ワイヤレス給電装置10は地上に配設される給電設備内に搭載され、ワイヤレス受電装置20は車両に搭載されることになる。以下では、ワイヤレス電力伝送システム1が電気自動車への給電用のものであるとして説明を続ける。
 図2は、ワイヤレス給電装置10及びワイヤレス受電装置20それぞれの内部回路構成を示す図である。以下、図1に加えてこの図2も適宜参照しながら、初めにワイヤレス電力伝送システム1の構成の概略を説明し、その後、本発明に特徴的な構成について詳しく説明する。
 ワイヤレス給電装置10は、図1及び図2に示すように、直流電源11、電力変換器12、給電コイル部13、金属異物検出装置14、及びノイズ検出部15を有して構成される。なお、本実施の形態では、ワイヤレス給電装置10内に金属異物検出装置14を設けることとして説明するが、ワイヤレス受電装置20内に金属異物検出装置14を設けることとしてもよい。
 直流電源11は、電力変換器12に直流電力を供給する役割を果たす。直流電源11の具体的な種類は、直流電力を供給できるものであれば特に限定されない。例えば、商用交流電源を整流・平滑した直流電源、二次電池、太陽光発電した直流電源、又はスイッチングコンバータなどのスイッチング電源を、直流電源11として好適に用いることが可能である。
 電力変換器12は、直流電源11から供給された直流電力を交流電力に変換し、それによって給電コイル部13に、図2に示す交流電流I1を供給するインバータである。具体的には、図2に示すように、複数のスイッチング素子SW1~SW4がブリッジ接続されてなるスイッチング回路(フルブリッジ回路)と、スイッチ駆動部120とを有して構成される。なお、ここでは電力変換器12内のスイッチング回路をフルブリッジ回路により構成する例を示しているが、他の種類のスイッチング回路を用いることも可能である。
 スイッチング素子SW1~SW4は、スイッチ駆動部120からそれぞれのゲートに供給される制御信号SG1~SG4によって、互いに独立してオンオフ動作を行うよう構成される。スイッチング素子SW1~SW4の具体的な種類としては、MOSFET(Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor)又はIGBT(Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor)を用いることが好適である。
 スイッチ駆動部120は、スイッチング素子SW1~SW4からなるスイッチング回路の出力電圧が所定周波数の交流電圧となるよう、制御信号SG1~SG4の生成を行う信号生成部である。したがって、後述する給電コイルL1には、この所定周波数の交流電圧が供給されることになる。以下では、この所定周波数を電力伝送周波数fpと称する。電力伝送周波数fpの具体的な値は、例えば20〔kHz〕~200〔kHz〕に設定される。
 給電コイル部13は、図2に示すように、直列に接続された給電側コンデンサC1及び給電コイルL1によって構成される共振回路(給電側共振回路)であり、電力変換器12から供給される交流電圧に基づいて交番磁界を生成する役割を果たす。給電コイル部13を構成する給電側共振回路の共振周波数は、上述した電力伝送周波数fpと同一又はそれに近い周波数に設定される。なお、給電側コンデンサC1は、給電コイルL1と並列に接続してもよい。
 給電コイルL1は、例えばφ0.1(mm)の絶縁された銅線を2千本程度撚り合わせたリッツ線を数ターンから数十ターン程度、平面状に巻回することによって形成されたスパイラル構造のコイルであり、例えば地中または地面近傍に配置される。電力変換器12から給電コイルL1に交流電圧が供給されると、給電コイルL1に図2に示す交流電流I1が流れ、それによって交番磁界が発生する。この交番磁界は、給電コイルL1と後述する受電コイルL2との間の相互インダクタンスM12によって受電コイルL2内に起電力を発生させ、それによって電力の伝送が実現される。
 金属異物検出装置14は、給電コイルL1に接近する金属異物の有無を検出する機能を有する装置であり、図2に示すように、それぞれアンテナコイルL3及び金属異物検出装置用コンデンサC3を含む複数の共振回路RCと、各共振回路RCに接続された検出部140とを有して構成される。なお、図2に示した抵抗R3は、アンテナコイルL3の直列抵抗を明示したものである。
 金属異物検出装置14を設置する目的は、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2との間にある金属異物を検出することにある。そこで金属異物検出装置14の少なくとも一部(より具体的には各アンテナコイルL3)は、図1に示すように、給電コイルL1の受電コイルL2との対向面上に、すなわち給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2の間に配置される。なお、金属異物検出装置14と給電コイルL1とは、一体のユニットとして構成してもよいし、別々のユニットとして構成してもよい。金属異物検出装置14の詳細については、後述する。
 ノイズ検出部15は、電力伝送周波数fpよりも高い周波数のノイズを検出可能に構成される。ノイズ検出部15の具体的な構成は特に限定されないが、例えば、給電コイルL1に流れる電流波形を検出する電流検出回路と、その出力信号から高周波数成分のみを取り出すハイパスフィルタと、ハイパスフィルタの出力信号の振幅が所定値を上回っている場合に、すなわち高周波成分の発生期間に同期信号を発する同期信号生成部とによって、ノイズ検出部15を構成することが好適である。電流検出回路に代え、抵抗分圧回路などの電圧検出回路を用いてもよい。また、ハイパスフィルタのカットオフ周波数は、電力伝送周波数fpよりも高い周波数に設定することが好ましい。他に、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2の間にホール素子や磁気抵抗効果素子等の磁気センサを配置することによって、ノイズ検出部15を構成することも可能である。
 次に、ワイヤレス受電装置20は、図1及び図2に示すように、受電コイル部21と、整流器22とを有して構成される。
 受電コイル部21は、図2に示すように、直列に接続された受電側コンデンサC2と受電コイルL2とによって構成される共振回路(受電側共振回路)を有して構成され、給電コイルL1から伝送された交流電力をワイヤレスにて受電する受電部としての役割を果たす。受電コイル部21を構成する受電側共振回路の共振周波数も、上述した電力伝送周波数fpと同一又はそれに近い周波数に設定される。なお、受電側コンデンサC2は、受電コイルL2と並列に接続してもよい。
 受電コイルL2は、給電コイルL1と同様に、例えばφ0.1(mm)の絶縁された銅線を2千本程度撚り合わせたリッツ線を数ターンから数十ターン程度、平面状に巻回することによって形成されたスパイラル構造のコイルである。一方、受電コイルL2の設置位置は、給電コイルL1とは異なり、例えば電気自動車の車両下部となる。給電コイルL1によって生成される磁束が受電コイルL2に鎖交すると、電磁誘導作用による起電力が受電コイルL2に生じ、図2に示す交流電流I2が流れる。この交流電流I2は、整流器22により直流電流に変換されたうえで、負荷2に供給される。これにより、負荷2に対して直流電力を供給することが実現される。
 整流器22は、受電コイル部21から出力された交流電流を直流電流に整流することにより、負荷2に対して直流電力を供給する機能を有する回路である。具体的には、図2に示すように、4つのダイオードD1~D4がブリッジ接続されてなるブリッジ回路と、このブリッジ回路と並列に接続された平滑用キャパシタC0とによって構成される。
 負荷2は、図示しない充電器及びバッテリーを含んで構成される。このうち充電器は、整流器22から出力された直流電力に基づいてバッテリーを充電する機能を有する回路である。この充電は、例えば定電圧定電流充電(CVCC充電)により実行される。バッテリーの具体的な種類は、電力を蓄える機能を有するものであれば特に限定されない。例えば、二次電池(リチウムイオン電池、リチウムポリマー電池、ニッケル電池など)や容量素子(電気二重層キャパシタなど)を、負荷2を構成するバッテリーとして好適に用いることが可能である。
 次に、図3~図5を参照しながら、金属異物検出装置14の詳細について説明する。図3は、金属異物検出装置14の機能ブロックを示す略ブロック図であり、図4(a)~図4(f)は、金属異物検出装置14に関わる各種信号等の波形を示す図であり、図5(a)は、給電コイルL1とアンテナコイルL3の位置関係を示す平面図であり、図5(b)は、図5(a)のA-A線に対応する給電コイルL1及びアンテナコイルL3の断面図である。
 初めに図5(a)及び図5(b)を参照すると、上述した複数の共振回路RCは、平面的に見て給電コイルL1の内側に相当する領域内にマトリクス状に並べて配置される。このような共振回路RCの配置は、表面に導電性のコイルパターンが形成されたプリント基板(図示せず)を給電コイルL1上に設置することによって、実現できる。
 この配置により、給電コイルL1において上述した交番磁界(電力伝送周波数fpで振動する磁界)が発生すると、図2に示した給電コイルL1と各アンテナコイルL3との間の相互インダクタンスM13、及び、受電コイルL2と各アンテナコイルL3との間の相互インダクタンスM23によって、各アンテナコイルL3に起電力が誘起される。この起電力は、各アンテナコイルL3に振動信号を発生させる。つまり、本実施の形態によるアンテナコイルL3は、磁界を受けて振動信号を発生するものとなっている。
 各アンテナコイルL3に発生する振動信号は、交番磁界の周波数である電力伝送周波数fpの成分に加え、各共振回路RCの共振周波数frの成分を含む信号となる。共振周波数frの具体的な値は、アンテナコイルL3のインダクタンスとコンデンサC3のキャパシタンスとを調整することにより、電力伝送周波数fpよりも桁違いに高い単一の値に設定される。具体的な例では、fr=3,000〔kHz〕とすることが好ましい。なお、コンデンサC3のキャパシタンスは、数百から数千〔pF〕程度の値とすることが好ましい。
 図4(a)には、電力伝送周波数fpで振動する信号Vaを示し、図4(b)には、各共振回路RCに発生する振動信号Vbを示している。これらの図から理解されるように、振動信号Vbは、電力伝送周波数fpで振動する信号Vaに共振周波数frの成分が重畳された信号となる。詳しくは以下で説明するが、金属異物検出装置14の検出部140は、振動信号Vbからこの共振周波数frの成分のみを取り出し、その変化を利用して、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2との間に存在する金属異物の検出を行う。
 ここで、本実施の形態では、各アンテナコイルL3と直列又は並列にコンデンサC3を設置することによって共振回路RCを形成しているが、コンデンサC3を設けず共振回路RCを形成しないこととしてもよい。この場合、図4(b)に示した振動信号Vbではなく、図4(a)に示した信号Vaが検出部140への入力となるので、検出部140は、金属異物の検出を行うために共振周波数frの成分の変化を利用することができない。そこで、この場合の検出部140は、電力伝送周波数fpの成分の変化を利用して、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2との間に存在する金属異物の検出を行う。
 次に図3を参照すると、検出部140は機能的に、検出切替スイッチ141、モード切替スイッチ142、制御回路143、フィルタ回路150、整流回路151、積分回路152、判定回路153、波数検出回路154、フィルタ回路160、二値化回路161、カウンタ回路162、振動時間長計測回路163、及び判定回路164を有して構成される。このうち波数検出回路154は、波形整形回路154a及びカウンタ回路154bを有して構成される。
 検出部140は、共振回路RCのそれぞれ異なる特性の変化に基づいて金属異物の有無を検出する複数の検出モードを有して構成される。本実施の形態では、この複数の検出モードの具体的な例として、共振回路RCから出力される振動信号Vbに対応する信号Vdの波形の積分値の変化に基づいて金属異物の有無を検出する第1の検出モードと、共振回路RCから出力される振動信号Vbに対応する振動信号Vcの振動時間長の変化に基づいて金属異物の有無を検出する第2の検出モードとの2つを例示する。なお、振動時間長は、1より大きい所定波数分の振動信号Vbの振動に要する時間の長さである。第1の検出モードには、交番磁界がない状態であれば第2の検出モードに比べて高い精度で金属異物の検出を行うことができるが、交番磁界の影響を受けて精度が低下しやすいという特徴がある。一方、第2の検出モードには、交番磁界がない状態の第1の検出モードに比べれば低い精度でしか金属異物の検出を行えないが、交番磁界の影響があっても精度があまり低下しないという特徴がある。
 本実施の形態による制御回路143は、ワイヤレス電力伝送システム1の給電状態に応じて、上記複数の検出モードから1つを選択するよう構成される。検出部140は、こうして選択された検出モードにより、金属異物の検出を行う。以下、検出部140に設けられる各機能部について、詳細に説明する。
 検出切替スイッチ141は、モード切替スイッチ142に接続された共通端子と、各共振回路RCに接続された複数の選択端子とを有する1回路多接点のスイッチであり、制御回路143の制御に応じて、いずれか1つの選択端子を共通端子に接続するよう構成される。検出切替スイッチ141として具体的には、半導体スイッチやマルチプレクサを使用することが好適である。
 制御回路143は、検出切替スイッチ141の切り替え制御を行うことにより、等しい時間間隔で1つずつ順次、各アンテナコイルL3をモード切替スイッチ142に接続していく役割を果たす。最後のアンテナコイルL3を接続した後には、最初のアンテナコイルL3に戻って動作を繰り返す。
 ここで、制御回路143は、ユーザによる設定等に応じて、複数のアンテナコイルL3のうちのいくつかを上記接続の対象から外せるように構成されてもよい。こうすれば、金属異物の検出対象となる領域を限定することが可能になるとともに、すべてのアンテナコイルL3を用いる場合に比べ、1つ1つのアンテナコイルL3による金属異物の検出時間を長くすることができる。
 また、本実施の形態では、アンテナコイルL3ごとにコンデンサC3を設置しているが、全体で1つだけコンデンサC3を設置し、検出切替スイッチ141によってモード切替スイッチ142に接続されたアンテナコイルL3のみが、このコンデンサC3と共振回路RCを構成することとしてもよい。こうすれば、コンデンサC3の数を減らすことができるので、金属異物検出装置14の部品点数を削減することが可能になる。なお、アンテナコイルL3ごとにコンデンサC3を設置する場合、それぞれの共振回路RCごとにアンテナコイルL3とコンデンサC3の接続を切り替えるスイッチを設け、金属異物の検出時において、検出切替スイッチ141によってモード切替スイッチ142に接続されたアンテナコイルL3以外のアンテナコイルL3とコンデンサC3との接続を切り離すように構成しても構わない。こうすれば、金属異物の検出動作時において、検出切替スイッチ141によってモード切替スイッチ142に接続されたアンテナコイルL3と他のアンテナコイルL3との磁気的な結合が抑制され、金属異物の検出精度を一層向上させることが可能になる。
 モード切替スイッチ142は、検出切替スイッチ141に接続された共通端子と、それぞれフィルタ回路150,160に接続された2つの選択端子とを有する1回路2接点のスイッチであり、制御回路143の制御に応じて、いずれか一方の選択端子を共通端子に接続するよう構成される。モード切替スイッチ142としても、半導体スイッチやマルチプレクサを使用することが好適である。
 制御回路143は、ワイヤレス電力伝送システム1の給電状態に応じて上記複数の検出モードから1つを選択し、その結果に応じてモード切替スイッチ142の切り替え制御を行うことにより、検出部140による金属異物の有無の検出モードを切り替える。具体的には、検出切替スイッチ141とフィルタ回路150を接続することによって検出部140を第1の検出モードとし、検出切替スイッチ141とフィルタ回路160を接続することによって検出部140を第2の検出モードとする。
 ワイヤレス電力伝送システム1の給電状態として、本実施の形態では、給電中と給電停止中の2つの状態を利用する。制御回路143は、例えば図2に示した交流電流I1を参照することによって、ワイヤレス電力伝送システム1が給電中であるか、それとも給電停止中であるかを判定する。そして、給電停止中であると判定した場合には、検出切替スイッチ141とフィルタ回路150を接続することによって、検出部140を第1の検出モードとする。上記したように、第1の検出モードでは、交番磁界がない状態であれば第2の検出モードに比べて高い精度で金属異物の検出を行うことができるので、このような制御回路143の制御により、給電停止中に高い精度で金属異物の検出を行うことが可能になる。一方、給電中であると判定した場合には、検出切替スイッチ141とフィルタ回路160を接続することによって、検出部140を第2の検出モードとする。上記したように、第2の検出モードは交番磁界の影響があっても精度があまり低下しないという特徴を有するので、このような制御回路143の制御により、給電中であっても、比較的高い精度で金属異物の検出を行うことが可能になる。
 以下、第1及び第2の検出モードのそれぞれに関わる検出部140の構成及び動作について、順に説明する。
 第1の検出モードは、フィルタ回路150、整流回路151、積分回路152、判定回路153、及び波数検出回路154によって実現される。
 フィルタ回路150は、検出切替スイッチ141を介して接続されているアンテナコイルL3において発生した振動信号Vbから電力伝送周波数fpの成分を取り除くことにより、図4(c)に示す振動信号Vcを生成する回路である。具体的には、共振周波数frと同じ帯域の周波数を取り出すバンドパスフィルタにより、フィルタ回路150を構成することが好適である。一方、コンデンサC3を設けず、共振回路RCを形成しない場合は、電力伝送周波数fpと同じ帯域の周波数を取り出すバンドパスフィルタにより、フィルタ回路150を構成すると好適である。
 整流回路151は、フィルタ回路150から出力される振動信号Vcを整流することにより、図4(d)に示すパルス状の信号Vdを生成する回路である。整流回路151として具体的には、ダイオード、ダイオードブリッジ回路、又は半導体スイッチなどのスイッチング素子を使用することが好適である。図4(d)に示す信号Vdは整流回路151を半波整流回路により構成した場合の例であるが、整流回路151を全波整流回路あるいはその他の整流回路により構成することとしてもよい。
 積分回路152は、整流回路151が生成した信号Vdの波形の積分値IVを得る回路である。信号Vdが上述したようにパルス状の信号であることから、信号Vdが発生している間、積分回路152の積分値IVは、図4(e)に示すように階段状に上昇することになる。積分回路152による積分の開始及び終了は、制御回路143によって制御される。
 波数検出回路154は、振動信号Vcの波数を検出する回路である。具体的に説明すると、まず波形整形回路154aにより、振動信号Vcから図4(f)に示す二値信号CKを生成し、次いでカウンタ回路154bによりこの二値信号CKの波数をカウントすることによって、振動信号Vcの波数を検出する。以下、それぞれの回路の動作について詳しく説明する。
 波形整形回路154aは、フィルタ回路150から出力される振動信号Vcの閾値判定を行うことにより、二値信号CKを生成する。この閾値判定で用いる閾値としては、予め設定された基準電圧値を用いることが好適である。基準電圧値の具体的な値は、例えば、金属異物がない場合の振動信号Vcの振幅中心電圧(例えば0V)に設定される。二値信号CKは、閾値判定の結果が閾値以上である場合にハイとなり、閾値判定の結果が閾値未満である場合にローとなる信号である。したがって、二値信号CKの周期は、共振回路RCの共振周波数frの逆数と一致する。なお、本実施の形態では、振動信号Vcの閾値判定により二値信号CKを生成しているが、波形整形回路154aは、整流回路151が生成した信号Vdの閾値判定を行うことにより、二値信号を生成してもよい。
 カウンタ回路154bは、波形整形回路154aにより生成された二値信号CKをクロックとしてカウント動作を行い、その結果を示すデジタル値(カウント値)を生成する回路である。カウンタ回路154bによるカウントの開始及び終了のタイミングは、制御回路143によって制御される。カウンタ回路154bによって生成されるカウント値は振動信号Vcの波数に等しくなるので、波数検出回路154は、このカウント値を振動信号Vcの波数の検出結果として出力するよう構成される。
 制御回路143は、積分回路152及びカウンタ回路154bの制御を行う。具体的には、アンテナコイルL3の選択を切り替える都度、検出部140が第1の検出モードであることを条件として、所定の波数検出開始信号を供給することによって波数検出回路154に波数の検出を開始させる(具体的には、カウンタ回路154bにカウントを開始させる)とともに、所定の積分開始信号を供給することによって積分回路152に積分を開始させる。その後、波数検出回路154による波数の検出結果(具体的には、カウンタ回路154bが出力するカウント値)を監視し、該検出結果が所定値(以下、「積分対象波数」と称する)に達した場合に、所定の積分終了信号を供給することによって積分回路152に積分を終了させるとともに、所定の波数検出終了信号を供給することによって、波数検出回路154に波数の検出を終了させる(具体的には、カウンタ回路154bにカウントを終了させる)。積分回路152は、こうして積分が終了した時点での積分値IVを判定回路153に供給するよう構成される。
 ここで、制御回路143が波数検出回路154に波数の検出を開始させるタイミングと積分回路152に積分を開始させるタイミングとは、同時であってもよいし、異なっていてもよい。後者の場合の例としては、初めに波数検出回路154に波数の検出を開始させ、検出された波数が所定値に達した場合に、積分回路152に積分を開始させることが挙げられる。積分値IVと後述する基準積分値CIVとで同一波数分の波形を積分するという観点からは、この例による積分の開始のさせ方が適している。
 制御回路143はまた、積分値IVの基準となる基準積分値CIVを得るための動作も行う。基準積分値CIVは、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2の間に金属異物が存在しないときの積分値IVであり、制御回路143は、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2の間に金属異物が存在しないことが保証される状態で上記制御を実行することにより、基準積分値CIVを取得する。このとき、制御回路143は、上述した積分対象波数について、通常動作で積分値IVを取得するときと同じ値を使用する。したがって、積分値IVと基準積分値CIVとは、同一波数分の波形を積分したものとなっている。制御回路143は、取得した基準積分値CIVを判定回路153に出力し、記憶させる。
 判定回路153は、積分回路152から供給される積分値IVと、制御回路143から予め供給され、記憶していた基準積分値CIVとに基づいて、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2の間における金属異物の有無を検出する回路である。具体的には、積分値IVと基準積分値CIVの差の絶対値が所定値以内であれば金属異物はないと判定し、そうでなければ金属異物があると判定する。
 判定回路153による判定の結果は、制御回路143に供給される。制御回路143は、金属異物が検出されたとの判定結果が供給された場合、図2に示したスイッチ駆動部120に対し、電力変換器12による電力の変換を停止するよう指示する。この指示を受けたスイッチ駆動部120は、電力変換器12から交流電力が出力されないよう、図2に示した制御信号SG1~SG4を調整する。これにより、ワイヤレス給電装置10による給電動作が停止するので、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2の間に生ずる交番磁界に起因して金属異物に渦電流が発生し、それによって金属異物が発熱することを防止することが可能になる。
 次に、第2の検出モードは、フィルタ回路160、二値化回路161、カウンタ回路162、振動時間長計測回路163、及び判定回路164によって実現される。
 フィルタ回路160は、フィルタ回路150と同様の構成を有する回路であり、検出切替スイッチ141を介して接続されているアンテナコイルL3において発生した振動信号Vbから電力伝送周波数fpの成分を取り除くことにより、図4(c)に示す振動信号Vcを生成する。なお、フィルタ回路150,160を1つのフィルタ回路により共通化してもよい。
 二値化回路161は、フィルタ回路160から出力される振動信号Vcの電圧値と、予め設定された基準電圧値(例えば0V)とを比較することにより、図4(f)に示す二値信号Veを生成する回路である。二値信号Veは、振動信号Vcの電圧値が基準電圧値以上である場合にハイレベルとなり、振動信号Vcの電圧値が基準電圧値より小さい場合にローレベルとなる二値の信号であり、図4(f)からも理解されるように、二値信号CKと実質的に同一の波形を有する。
 カウンタ回路162は、二値化回路161から出力される二値信号Veの波数をカウントすることにより、振動信号Vcの波数をカウントする機能を有する。カウンタ回路162がカウントを開始するタイミングは、制御回路143によって指示される。
 振動時間長計測回路163は、1より大きい所定波数分の振動信号Vcの振動に要する時間の長さを示す振動時間長TLを計測する回路である。なお、ここでいう波数は、周期と言い換えることも可能である。振動時間長計測回路162による振動時間長TLの計測の開始点、及び、振動時間長TLを計測するために参照する振動信号Vcの具体的な波数はそれぞれ任意に調整可能とされており、具体的には制御回路143によって調整される。振動時間長計測回路163による振動時間長の計測は、具体的には、制御回路143から計測の開始を指示された後のカウンタ回路162のカウント値の増分が、制御回路143から指示された波数分に達するのに要する時間を計測することによって実行される。
 制御回路143は、カウンタ回路162及び振動時間長計測回路163の制御を行う。具体的には、アンテナコイルL3の選択を切り替える都度、検出部140が第2の検出モードであることを条件として、所定の波数検出開始信号を供給することによってカウンタ回路162にカウントを開始させるとともに、所定の計測開始信号を供給することによって振動時間長計測回路163に振動時間長の計測を開始させる。その後、カウンタ回路162が出力するカウント値を監視し、該検出結果が所定値(以下、「振動時間長計測対象波数」と称する)に達した場合に、所定の計測終了信号を供給することによって振動時間長計測回路163に計測を終了させるとともに、所定の波数検出終了信号を供給することによって、カウンタ回路162にカウントを終了させる。振動時間長計測回路163は、こうして計測した振動時間長TLを判定回路164に供給するよう構成される。
 ここで、制御回路143がカウンタ回路162に波数の検出を開始させるタイミングと振動時間長計測回路163に計測を開始させるタイミングとは、同時であってもよいし、異なっていてもよい。後者の場合の例としては、初めにカウンタ回路162にカウントを開始させ、カウント値が所定値に達した場合に、振動時間長計測回路163に計測を開始させることが挙げられる。振動時間長TLと後述する基準時間長CTLとを同一波数の波形から得るという観点からは、この例による計測の開始のさせ方が適している。
 制御回路143はまた、振動時間長TLの基準となる基準時間長CTLを得るための動作も行う。基準時間長CTLは、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2の間に金属異物が存在しないときの振動時間長TLであり、制御回路143は、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2の間に金属異物が存在しないことが保証される状態で上記制御を実行することにより、基準時間長CTLを取得する。このとき、制御回路143は、上述した振動時間長計測対象波数について、通常動作で振動時間長TLを取得するときと同じ値を使用する。したがって、振動時間長TLと基準時間長CTLとは、同一波数分の波形を計測した結果として得られたものとなっている。制御回路143は、取得した基準時間長CTLを判定回路164に出力し、記憶させる。
 判定回路164は、振動時間長計測回路163から供給される振動時間長TLと、制御回路143から予め供給され、記憶していた基準時間長CTLとに基づいて、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2の間における金属異物の有無を検出する回路である。具体的には、振動時間長TLと基準時間長CTLの差の絶対値が所定値以内であれば金属異物はないと判定し、そうでなければ金属異物があると判定する。
 判定回路164による判定の結果は、制御回路143に供給される。この結果を受けた制御回路143の動作は、第1の検出モードの例と同一である。すなわち、金属異物が検出されたとの判定結果が供給された場合、制御回路143は、図2に示したスイッチ駆動部120に対し、電力変換器12による電力の変換を停止するよう指示する。この指示を受けたスイッチ駆動部120は、電力変換器12から交流電力が出力されないよう、図2に示した制御信号SG1~SG4を調整する。これにより、ワイヤレス給電装置10による給電動作が停止するので、給電コイルL1と受電コイルL2の間に生ずる交番磁界に起因して金属異物に渦電流が発生し、それによって金属異物が発熱することを防止することが可能になる。
 以上説明したように、本実施の形態による金属異物検出装置14によれば、ワイヤレス電力伝送システム1の給電状態に応じて、金属異物の検出のために参照する特性を変えることができる。具体的には、給電停止中であれば、積分値を参照する金属異物の検出(第1の検出モード)を行うことができ、給電中であれば、周期を参照する金属異物の検出(第2の検出モード)を行うことができる。したがって、給電状態によらず、高い検出精度を得ることが可能になる。
(第2の実施の形態)
 次に、本発明の第2の実施の形態に係るワイヤレス電力伝送システム1について、説明する。本実施の形態に係るワイヤレス電力伝送システム1は、図3に示した制御回路143の動作が異なる点でのみ、第1の実施の形態によるワイヤレス電力伝送システム1と相違する。その他の点では第1の実施の形態によるワイヤレス電力伝送システム1と同様であるので、以下では、第1の実施の形態と同様の構成については同一の符号を付し、第1の実施の形態との相違点にのみ着目して説明する。
 再び図3を参照すると、本実施の形態による制御回路143は、図5(a)に示したマトリクス状の配置の中における個々のアンテナコイルL3の位置を示す情報を予め記憶している。そして、この情報に基づき、複数のアンテナコイルL3ごとに、該アンテナコイルL3の位置にも応じて、複数の検出モードから1つを選択するよう構成される。
 また、本実施の形態では、ワイヤレス電力伝送システム1の給電状態として、給電停止中、給電中(電力低)、給電中(電力高)の3つの状態を利用する。制御回路143は、例えば図2に示した交流電流I1の閾値判定を行うことによって、現在の給電状態が3つの状態のうちのいずれであるかを判定する。つまり、交流電流I1が所定の第1の閾値(例えば0A)以下である場合には給電停止中であると判定し、第1の閾値より大きく、かつ、第1の閾値より大きい所定の第2の閾値以下である場合には給電中(電力低)であると判定し、第2の閾値より大きい場合には給電中(電力高)であると判定すればよい。
 図6~図8はそれぞれ、給電停止中、給電中(電力低)、給電中(電力高)における各アンテナコイルL3への検出モードの割り当て状況を示す図である。各図においては、アンテナコイルL3ごとに付された丸の中の数字が、そのアンテナコイルL3に関して制御回路143が選択する検出モードを表している。
 まず図6に示すように、現在の給電状態が給電停止中であると判定した制御回路143は、すべてのアンテナコイルL3に関して、第1の検出モードを選択する。これにより、給電停止中に高い精度で金属異物の検出を行うことが可能になる。
 次に図8に示すように、現在の給電状態が給電中(電力高)であると判定した制御回路143は、すべてのアンテナコイルL3に関して、第2の検出モードを選択する。これにより、給電中であっても、比較的高い精度で金属異物の検出を行うことが可能になる。
 次に図7に示すように、現在の給電状態が給電中(電力低)であると判定した制御回路143は、最外周にあるアンテナコイルL3に関して第1の検出モードを選択し、それ以外のアンテナコイルL3に関して第2の検出モードを選択する。給電中であっても給電電力が低い場合には、最外周にあるアンテナコイルL3に鎖交する磁束の量はさほど多くなく、したがって最外周にあるアンテナコイルL3に関しては、第1の検出モードの方が第2の検出モードよりも検出精度が高くなる。これに対し、内側にあるアンテナコイルL3については、給電電力が低くても多量の磁束が鎖交するので、第2の検出モードの方が第1の検出モードよりも検出精度が高くなる。したがって、上記のようにアンテナコイルの位置に応じて異なる検出モードを選択することにより、より高い精度で金属異物の検出を行うことが可能になる。
 以上説明したように、本実施の形態による金属異物検出装置14によれば、金属異物の検出のために参照する特性を、給電状態だけでなく、アンテナコイルL3ごとにその位置にも応じて変えることができる。具体的には、給電停止中であれば、すべてのアンテナコイルL3について積分値を参照する金属異物の検出(第1の検出モード)を行うことができ、給電中(電力低)であれば、最外周にあるアンテナコイルL3については積分値を参照する金属異物の検出(第1の検出モード)を行える一方、それ以外のアンテナコイルL3については周期を参照する金属異物の検出(第2の検出モード)を行うことができ、給電中(電力高)であれば、すべてのアンテナコイルL3について周期を参照する金属異物の検出(第2の検出モード)を行うことができる。したがって、第1の実施の形態に比べて、より高い検出精度を得ることが可能になる。
 なお、本実施の形態では、給電中(電力低)に第1の検出モードとするアンテナコイルL3を最外周にあるものとしたが、実際にどのアンテナコイルL3を第1の検出モードとするのかは、実験やシミュレーションによって適宜決定することが好ましい。また、給電状態として4つ以上の状態を利用し、この4つ以上の状態ごとに、各アンテナコイルL3で使用する検出モードを決定することとしてもよい。
 また、本実施の形態では、給電状態と各アンテナコイルL3の位置との両方に応じて、金属異物の検出のために参照する特性を変えることとしたが、制御回路143は、給電状態を参照せず、各アンテナコイルL3の位置のみに応じて、金属異物の検出のために参照する特性を変えることとしてもよい。例えば、各アンテナコイルL3で使用する検出モードを、給電状態によらず、図7に示したものに固定することとしてもよい。
(第3の実施の形態)
 次に、本発明の第3の実施の形態に係るワイヤレス電力伝送システム1について、説明する。本実施の形態に係るワイヤレス電力伝送システム1は、図3に示した制御回路143が各アンテナコイルL3の両端電圧に基づいて検出モードの選択を行う点でのみ、第1の実施の形態によるワイヤレス電力伝送システム1と相違する。その他の点では第1の実施の形態によるワイヤレス電力伝送システム1と同様であるので、以下では、第1の実施の形態と同様の構成については同一の符号を付し、第1の実施の形態との相違点にのみ着目して説明する。
 図9は、本実施の形態による金属異物検出装置14の機能ブロックを示す略ブロック図である。同図に示すように、本実施の形態による制御回路143は、複数のアンテナコイルL3のそれぞれに発生する電圧を検出する電圧検出部として機能する。そして、検出された電圧値が予め設定された基準電圧値を下回るアンテナコイルL3については、第1の実施の形態で説明した制御によれば第2の検出モードを選択すべき場合(すなわち、給電中である場合)であっても、第1の検出モードを選択する。こうすることで、たとえ給電中であったとしても、局所的にあまり磁界の影響がないアンテナコイルL3について、給電中であっても、磁界がない状態で高い精度を得ることのできる第1の検出モードを利用することが可能になる。
 以上説明したように、本実施の形態による金属異物検出装置14によれば、局所的にあまり磁界の影響がないアンテナコイルL3について、給電中であっても、磁界がない状態で高い精度を得ることのできる第1の検出モードを利用することが可能になる。したがって、第1の実施の形態に比べて、より高い検出精度を得ることが可能になる。
 以上、本発明の好ましい実施の形態について説明したが、本発明はこうした実施の形態に何等限定されるものではなく、本発明が、その要旨を逸脱しない範囲において、種々なる態様で実施され得ることは勿論である。
 例えば、上記各実施の形態では、各アンテナコイルL3は磁界を受けて振動信号を発生するものとしたが、各アンテナコイルL3は、電流を受けて振動信号を発生するものとしてもよい。具体的には、金属異物の検出を行う都度、アンテナコイルL3に瞬間的に電流を印加し、その電流によって生ずる減衰振動信号に基づき、金属異物の検出を行うこととしてもよい。この場合においても、上記各実施の形態で説明したようにして検出モードを制御することで、高い検出精度を得ることが可能になる。
 また、上記各実施の形態では、積分値を参照する第1の検出モードと、周期を参照する第2の検出モードとを例示したが、これらの検出モードに加えて、或いは、これらの検出モードの一方又は両方に代えて、Q値などの他の回路特性を参照することによって金属異物を検出する検出モードを利用することとしてもよい。ただし、この場合においても、交番磁界がない状態で高い検出精度を得ることのできる検出モードと、交番磁界の影響があっても精度があまり低下しない検出モードとの2つの検出モードを利用することが好ましい。

Claims (8)

  1.  交番磁界を用いて電力伝送を行うワイヤレス電力伝送システムに用いられる金属異物検出装置であって、
     磁界または電流を受けて振動信号を発生する複数のアンテナコイルと、
     前記複数のアンテナコイルのそれぞれと共振回路を形成する1以上のコンデンサと、
     前記複数のアンテナコイルを順次使用して金属異物の検出を行う検出部とを備え、
     前記検出部は、前記共振回路のそれぞれ異なる特性の変化に基づいて金属異物の有無を検出する複数の検出モードを有し、前記ワイヤレス電力伝送システムの給電状態及び前記複数のアンテナコイルそれぞれの位置の少なくとも一方に応じて前記複数の検出モードから1つを選択して、選択した検出モードにより金属異物の検出を行うことを特徴とする金属異物検出装置。
  2.  前記複数の検出モードは、前記共振回路から出力される振動信号に対応する信号の波形の積分値の変化に基づいて金属異物の有無を検出する第1の検出モードと、前記共振回路から出力される振動信号に対応する信号の1より大きい所定波数分の振動に要する時間の長さを示す振動時間長の変化に基づいて金属異物の有無を検出する第2の検出モードと、を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の金属異物検出装置。
  3.  前記複数のアンテナコイルのそれぞれに発生する電圧を検出する電圧検出部をさらに備え、
     前記検出部は、前記電圧検出部により検出された電圧値が予め設定された基準電圧値を下回る場合に、当該アンテナコイルに関して前記第1の検出モードを選択することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の金属異物検出装置。
  4.  前記検出部は、前記第1の検出モードでは、前記共振回路から出力される振動信号に対応する信号の波形の積分値と、金属異物が無いときの前記積分値である基準積分値とを比較することによって前記積分値の変化を検出し、
     前記積分値と前記基準積分値とは、同一の波数の波形を積分して得られることを特徴とする請求項2又は3に記載の金属異物検出装置。
  5.  前記検出部は、前記第2の検出モードでは、前記共振回路から出力される振動信号に対応する信号の1より大きい所定波数分の振動に要する時間の長さを示す振動時間長と、金属異物が無いときの前記振動時間長である基準時間長とを比較することによって前記振動時間長の変化を検出し、
     前記振動時間長と前記基準時間長とは、同一の波数の波形から得られることを特徴とする請求項2乃至4のいずれか一項に記載の金属異物検出装置。
  6.  給電コイルから受電コイルにワイヤレスにて電力伝送するワイヤレス給電装置であって、
     前記給電コイルと、
     請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の金属異物検出装置と
     を備えることを特徴とするワイヤレス給電装置。
  7.  給電コイルから受電コイルにワイヤレスにて電力伝送するワイヤレス受電装置であって、
     前記受電コイルと、
     請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の金属異物検出装置と
     を備えることを特徴とするワイヤレス受電装置。
  8.  給電コイルから受電コイルにワイヤレスにて電力伝送するワイヤレス電力伝送システムであって、
     前記給電コイルを有するワイヤレス給電装置と、
     前記受電コイルを有するワイヤレス受電装置と、を備え、
     前記ワイヤレス給電装置および前記ワイヤレス受電装置の少なくとも一方は、請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の金属異物検出装置を備えることを特徴とするワイヤレス電力伝送システム。
