Definitions
- the present invention relates to a protection cap for brush of the type specified in the preamble of the first claim.
- the present invention relates to a protection cap for brush mainly used to cover cosmetic brushes.
- a brush is a tool used to paint or, sometimes, to write, and in general to spread liquid or viscous substances over a surface.
- Consisting of a substantially elongated shape it comprises a portion suitable to be gripped and a portion including hair or bristles or other material that is to come into contact with the viscous substances with which to do the job.
- document EP-B-1677645 discloses a bristle protection system comprising a deformable sleeve sized and shaped to be slidably inserted on the brush, the sleeve being inserted at the end of the brush defining the handgrip and shifted until it surrounds the bristles completely and at least part of the handgrip.
- the sleeve is therefore made of a material suitable for allowing the passage of air and viscous elements by evaporation through its own walls.
- Patent application JP-A-2016077357 instead, discloses a covering protecting the bristled part of a brush, consisting of a sheet that can be rolled up like a cylinder around the bristled part so as to protect the tip of the brush and apply a force towards the inside of the cylinder so formed to maintain the shape of the brush.
- Patent application US-A-2012024734 discloses a container adapted to contain the bristled part of a brush, comprising a hollow body formed by two openings designed to be placed around the brush by inserting the latter inside one of the two openings, and comprising a guide and security means.
- the guide is, for example, a zip or an object adapted to close at least one of the two ends by means of the security means and on command.
- the devices disclosed in the above-mentioned patent applications describe devices that can only partially solve the problem of the residues left on the bristled portion of the brush.
- Patent applications EP-B-1677645 and JP-A-2016077357 describe means that wrap the bristles of the brush, but in which one of their containment ends is open. In this case, it is possible, for example for cosmetic objects contained in a bag, that a certain amount of viscous liquid leaks outside of said means.
- the technical task underlying the present invention is to devise a brush protective cap, which is capable of substantially obviating at least some of the above-mentioned drawbacks.
- a major object of the invention is to obtain a brush protective cap, which is able to ensure the containment of the residual viscous liquid substances commonly found on the bristled portion of a brush.
- Another important object of the invention is to provide a brush protective cap, which is able to attain the above advantage automatically.
- a further object of the invention is to provide a brush protective cap capable of meeting the aesthetic requirements that are essential, for example, for the cosmetics market.
- Fig. 1 shows a brush and the protective cap according to the invention in perspective
- Fig. 2 illustrates a section of the protective cap comprising an applicator

- Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the application of the protective cap onto a brush;
- Fig. 5 shows an alternative configuration of the protective cap;
- Fig. 6 is a sectional detail of the application of the protective cap in a stopper configuration onto a brush
- Fig. 7a shows an alternative configuration of the protective cap's closing wall when the cap is closed
- Fig. 7b shows an alternative configuration of the protective cap's closing wall when the cap is open.
- the measures, values, shapes and geometric references when associated with terms like “about” or other similar terms such as “almost” or “substantially”, are to be understood as unless measurement errors or inaccuracies due to production and/or manufacturing defects and, especially, unless a slight difference from the value, the measure, the shape, or the geometric reference with which it is associated.
- these terms if associated with a value, preferably indicate a difference not exceeding 10% of the value itself.
- the protective cap according to the invention is indicated as a whole by the numeral 1.
- the protective cap 1 is adapted to be placed on a brush 2.
- the brush 2 can be any type of brush: in fact, it may be a brush for painting, or drawing, and more.
- the brush 2 is a brush suitable to be used for putting on make-up.
- the brush 2 is for example suitable to be used for spreading liquid or solid cosmetic products, such as powdered products, defining make-up.
- the brush 2 defines a major development axis 2a.
- This major development axis 2a is, for example, the longitudinal axis of the brush 2 that substantially describes its length.
- the brush 2 comprises an application portion 20 and a grip portion 21.
- the application portion 20 substantially corresponds to the part of the brush to be put into contact with the cosmetic products and/or paints. It is therefore defined by a bundle of bristles or other materials, which are adapted to become impregnated with a substance and can for example be spongy materials.
- the grip portion 21 is substantially opposite to the application portion 20 along the major development axis 2a and is intended to allow a user to grip the brush 2.
- the protective cap 1 therefore defines a main axis 1a and a containment wall 11.
- the containment wall 1 1 is preferably wound around the main axis 1 a, and defines an inner volume 12.
- the inner volume 12 is therefore preferably substantially tubular and for example cylindrical, although alternative shapes, for example rounder and spherical shapes, are provided.
- the containment wall 1 1 also comprises a first opening 13 and a second opening 14.
- the first opening 13 and the second opening 14 can have different shapes and sizes, for example they may be square, or jagged, and more.
- the openings 13, 14 have a circular shape.
- the containment wall 1 1 is preferably a cylindrical duct with a regular shape, or it may be a diverging duct.
- the containment wall 1 1 can take figurative forms representing floral or other elements.
- the first opening 13 and the second opening 14 are also, for example, opposite to each other with respect to the main axis 1 a.
- At least one of the walls 13, 14 is elastically deformable and capable of trapping at least part of the brush 2.
- the containment wall 1 1 is preferably made of a polymeric material.
- the containment wall is made of a silicone material.
- the containment wall could also be made of metal materials or materials that are more rigid than polymers and elastomers.
- the protective cap 1 therefore comprises at least one closing wall 15. Most suitably, the protective cap 1 preferably comprises a single closing wall 15.
- Such closing wall 15 is a curvilinear, planar or differently shaped wall.
- the closing wall 15 is oblique with respect to the containment wall 1 1 .
- the edges of the closing wall 15 are not continuous, but form an angle with the area of the containment wall 1 1 to which they are bound.
- the containment wall 1 1 can be in one piece with the containment wall 1 1 , or be a surface that can be attached to it.
- the closing wall 15 may comprise a stopper configuration whereby the protective cap 1 can be closed or opened, preferably manually, as shown in Fig. 7a and 7b.
- the stopper can be removably attached to the containment wall 1 1 by means of a tongue.
- the closing wall 15 is preferably substantially made of the same material as the containment wall 1 1 , or may be of a different material to be chosen among the types previously described for the containment wall 1 1 .
- the closing wall 15 can be positioned in the protective cap 1 according to different configurations.
- the closing wall 15 can be arranged near at least one of the openings 13, 14, and the protective cap 1 therefore take the form of a stopper, or be present on both of the openings.
- the closing wall 15 divides the inner volume 12 into two separate portions 12a, 12b. Therefore, the closing wall 15 is, for example, substantially incident to the main axis 1 a.
- the closing wall 15 is perpendicular to the main axis 1 a.
- the separate portions 12a, 12b may have the same volume or may have different sizes.
- At least one of the separate portions 12a, 12b is adapted to contain at least part of the brush 2.
- at least one of the separate portions 12a, 12b is adapted to contain, in detail, the application portion 20 of the brush 2 when the protective cap 1 is on the brush 2.
- the main axis 1 a and the major development axis 2a are substantially incident, with an angle of less than 90°.
- the main axis 1 a and the major development axis 2a are substantially aligned.
- the closing wall 15 further comprises a notch 16.
- the notch 16 is preferably a line or curve of discontinuity on the closing wall 15, the notch 16 obviously predominantly extending over the major development surface of the closing wall 15.
- the notch 16 defines wall portions 15a on the closing wall 15.
- the wall portions 15a are preferably capable of elastically deforming when the brush 2 passes through the closing wall 15 so as to allow the passage of at least part of the brush 2 through the inner volume 12.
- the wall portions 15a form a movable barrier that can be automatically opened and closed by contact with a body.
- the wall portions 15a elastically return into the closed configuration.
- the closing wall 15 defines a closed volume when at least one of the openings 13, 14 traps part of the brush 2.
- the wall portions 15a can therefore have different shapes and sizes depending on the notch 16.
- the notch can be V-shaped and define two wall portions 15a, one triangular and the other disc-shaped complementary to the triangle.
- the notch 16 can be a straight line and define two substantially semicircular wall portions 15a.
- the notch 16 is substantially cross-shaped.
- the notch 16 defines three wall portions 15a, which are substantially congruent and triangular in shape.
- the protective cap 1 is preferably aligned with the brush 2, and the closing wall 15 is pushed against the grip portion 21 on the side of the wall, if the brush cover 1 is in the form of a stopper, or on the side corresponding to the small separate portion 12a, 13a.
- the closing wall 15 opens by means of the deformable wall portions 15a, defined by the notch 16, which are pushed in a direction opposite to the movement of the brush cover 1 relative to the brush 2.
- the protective cap 1 can slide like a slider along the brush in a direction aligned with the major development axis 2a.
- the wall portions 15a return to their original position, and preferably, the opening 13, 14 comprising the closing portions 21 of the brush 2 entraps the brush 2.
- the closing wall 15 is again a barrier, and with the containment wall and the brush 2 defines a closed volume.
- the protective cap 1 is preferably and substantially adapted to allow the entry and the exit of the brush 2 into/from the inner volume 12 by means of a constant displacement along the major development axis 2a.
- the protective cap 1 achieves important advantages.
- the protective cap 1 allows the application portion of a brush 2 to be covered with a single movement, and at the same time, the brush 2 to be released with the same simple movement.
- the protective cap 1 automatically closes, without the need for additional gestures, the applicator of a brush 2 inside a closed volume.
- the protective cap 1 prevents any liquid or viscous residues present in the bristles of the applicator from being released, for example, in the bag containing the brush 2. Moreover, the protective cap 1 prevents any external substances from being deposited on the brush. These external substances may in fact pose risks due to lack of hygiene, and in particular if the brush is used for cosmetics.
- the protective cap 1 has such a simplified structure that it can allow the manufacture of more captivating or aesthetic shapes in line with the market demands, for example for cosmetics.
- the containment wall 11 can have a different shape, such as that of other flowers.
- the protective cap 1 can have two closing walls 15, each arranged at the openings 13, 14 so as to allow its use on brushes of the most varied shapes and sizes.
- the materials, shapes and dimensions may be any materials, shapes and dimensions.
