The invention is "One-Way Exhaust Hood". It relates to human necessities subfields domestic articles and life-saving. It's an apparatus for solving the life-threatening problem i.e. "reverse flow of fume of indoor gas burner in effect of wind". It consists of a Tee canal with two exit paths and a rotating assembly that rotates clockwise and counter clockwise inside the apparatus to switch paths from open to closed and vice versa. The wind closes the same side path to block the way in. This consequently opens the opposite side path to conduct the fume out. Both exits are never shut simultaneously.
Description
Description
" One-Way Exhaust Hood Technical field
It relates to human necessities , subfields domestic articles and life-saving . Background art
Different kinds of prior art such as chamber hood , helmet like hood and H-type hood (figurel ,A-C) have no sufficient mechanism for blocking the inward air flow which is caused by wind that blows to the outdoor hood of indoor gas burner specially when it is installed on side wall of building . When the wind hits the conventional exhaust hood , it penetrates inside the hood and consequently reverse flow of fume occurs in windy conditions .
Disclosure of invention
The existing problem relates to the safety of emitting the emissions of indoor fl ued gas burner in windy conditions .When the wind hits the exhaust hood , it penetrates inwards through the outlet of flue and consequently causes a reverse flow of fume which is toxic and life threatening There is no mechanism in conventional kinds of exhaust hood for blocking the inward wind.
On the other hand the out way must remain open constantly for fume discharge . Hence the invented hood is designed to turn the primary exit path into two contralateral exit paths so that the active part of the apparatus can manage differently on each path, shutting one and opening the other. The solution is based on the mechanism of instant reaction to the wind by minor rotation of the functional part of the apparatus that switches between gates built in the apparatus. When the wind hits the invented hood , it closes the prior path and opens the latter simultaneously.
The apparatus is designed to react to the least amount of air movement by balancing the rotating assembly around its axis of rotation , elongating the effort arm(65) of the active part, minimising the diameter of the axis of rotation , m inimising the scope of rotation (826) , minimising the friction of contact surfaces and lightening the moving components .
Further more by these facilities the function of apparatus do not depend on direction of installation . It means that it is not necessary to be i nstalled exactly in upright position .
The outcome is constant confident outflow of fume free of any reverse flow .

Description of embodiments
The invention is an apparatus configured of a body (61) a rotating assembly (64) , and several accessory parts .
The body is a Tee canal configured of a longitudinal canal (63) on proximal side and a transverse canal (62) on distal side attached and sealed together for tu rning primary exit path into two contralateral paths and holding other parts of apparatus .
The longitudinal canal (63) has two openings . The proximal opening to be installed on installation site on the wall of the building e.g. outdoor outlet of indoor gas bu rner(1022) and distal opening to be attached to the transverse canal.
There are several grooves on proximal edge of the longitudinal canal to let it be constricted by means of a clamp (616) and secured on installation site (1022) .
There are two perforations on frontal and dorsal walls of the longitudinal canal to let a pin (413) pass across the longitudinal canal which forms the axis of rotation of the rotating assembly and is perpendicular to frontal plane of the apparatus his axis of rotation is also located on medial (mid-sagittal) plane of the apparatus The position of the axis (925) makes the rotating assembly able to rotate parallel to the frontal plane of the transverse canal in determined scope of rotation (826) and makes bonnets sit exactly on embedded gates (617) inside the transverse canal .
There are two separate stops (319/419) on i nternal walls of proximal part of the longitudinal canal in a distance with the proximal edge , to limit the coupling (e.g. 1022) enter the apparatus at the time of installation, for preventing interaction with rotating assembly They can be inward extensions of the body , buttons , screws , rivets or welded pieces of metal .
The transverse canal (62) has two open ends on right and left and an opening at the middle which receives the distal end of the longitudinal ca nal. There are two proximal bevels on right and left ends of the transverse canal to prevent accumulation of snow and blockage of exits .
The transverse canal is divided to th ree chambers by two perforated plates (617), limited to the internal surface of the transverse canal , positioned on two sagittal planes on right and left sides of middle opening with equal distance to medial (mid-sagittal) plane of apparatus, providing two gates for outgoing fume (outgoing air flow).
The rotating assembly (64) consists of two reciprocal bonnets (610), a connecting arm (65) and three balancing weights (611 and 612) .
The connecting arm consists of a longitudina l bar (66), a distal transverse bar (67) a proximal transverse bar (68) ,and an axial bar (69).Two transverse bars are parallel and perpendicular to the longitudinal bar The axial bar is positioned in mid-sagittal plane of the apparatus in line with axis line(925) and perpendicular to the longitudinal bar and the transverse bars . The bars and canals can be round, rectangular or oval .
The longitudinal bar(66) is the basic bar of the connecting arm(64) The distal transverse bar(67) is a bar attached at its middle to the distal end of longitudinal bar and perpendicular to it . There is a bevel cut (618) on each end of the distal transverse bar ( the surface for attaching the bonnets ) to compensate the angle between the perforated plate (617) and the back of the bonnet in closed status because of the tilt of rotating assembly at the end of the scope of rotation (826) . The bevel cut makes the bonnets match completely on the gates . The proximal transverse bar (68) crosses at its centre the longitudinal bar in a distance with the proximal end of the longitudinal bar and is perpendicular to longitudinal bar and parallel to the distal transverse bar .The axial bar (69) crosses at its centre the longitudinal bar at the same point of crossing of the proximal transverse bar and is perpendicular to the longitudinal bar and the proximal transverse bar here is a round cut along the centre line of the axial bar. A metal pin (613) is passed through said cut and reciprocal said foramens on the longitudinal canal to act as axis of rotation of the rotating assembly.
Two balancing weights (612) are attached to the right and left ends of the proximal transverse bar with equal distance to the longitudi nal bar for neutralising the tendency of rotating assembly for positioning horizontally along its longitudinal bar .
Another balancing weight (611) is attached to the proximal end of the longitudinal bar for neutralising the torque of distal part of rotating assembly , beyond the axis of rotation according to the rule of levers ( Fl x Dl = F2 x D2 ) ( F stands for the force/weight and D stands for the distance to the axis/fulcrum).
Balancing weights are responsible for balancing the rotating assembly to let it rotate freely with no tendency to any direction by itself This makes the apparatus able to react properly to the least amount of air movement.
Two reciprocal bonnets (610) with the same shape , size and weight are attached at the centre of their backside to the both ends of the distal transverse bar of the connecting arm in equal distance to the centre of the bar by means of welding , screw , rivet or any attaching means so that when rotating assembly rotates inside the apparatus ,the back of one bonnet completely sits on embedded gate in the transverse canal (617) to shut the same side path and the opposite bonnet moves away from the opposite gate to open it for fume discharge (figure 8). The gates are never closed both together The bevel cuts(618) on both ends of the distal transverse bar, equal to the half of the degree of rotation of the rotating assembly make the back of bonnets sit exactly on gates in transverse canal at the end of scope of rotation (826).
There are several accessory parts in the apparatus as follows :
A metal pin (413/613) passes through a cou ple reciprocal foramens of the longitudinal canal and the round cut of axial bar of rotating assembly , holds the rotating assembly in position and acts as the axis of rotation of the rotating assembly .
Two retainers retain the axial pin(413) in its position inside the longitudinal canal so that the pin can rotate freely in the body foramens on frontal and dorsal walls . The retainers can be washers fixed on both ends of the pin or caps (615)attached by screw , rivet or welding and sealed by a sealant or rubber washer between the cap and the body of apparatus , non-fixed on the pin.
Alternatively the axial pin can be configu red of two separate pins each permanently attached to the internal surface of a retainer cap and perpendicular to it, forming a pin-cap assembly (524) so that the pin is inserted to each side of round cut of axial bar of rotating assembly non-fixed in it and the cap is fixed with screws on couple foramens on frontal and dorsal walls of the longitudinal canal and sealed on the body by rubber washer or glue or any sealant ,to act as axis of rotation of rotating assembly that is adjustable by loosening screws , manual adjustment of the said assembly and tightening back the screws for minor adjustment of rotating assembly at the time of manufacturing and also act as cover for foramens to prevent inward penetration of water.
A clamp (616) around the proximal end of the longitudinal canal to constrict it and secu re the apparatus on the site of installation .
Two uniform asymmetric funnels (614) inside the transverse canal on right and left sides of the middle opening so that the wide neck is attached to the internal surface of the transverse canal by welding, screw, rivet or any attaching means and narrow neck positioned medially to focus the inward wind on the bonnets . There is a bevel cut (720) on distal side of the narrow neck of the funnel and a deviation in the axis of the funnel to proximal side (721) as showed in figu re 7 .The centre of narrow neck is positioned proximally rather to the centre of wide neck of the funnel .
Two pieces of net mesh at the entrance of both sides of the transverse canal hinder birds and beetles entering the apparatus .
Generally when the wind hits the invented hood from right or left (only ways to exchange air) it acts directly on the bonnet of the same side and closes the prior gate. This blocks the inward flow and also indirectly moves the opposite bonnet and opens the opposite gate for safe discharge of fume . Blowing the apparatus from both sides at the same moment is what that never happens .
Industrial applicability
The apparatus is made by domestic appliance industry , and is used as outdoor exhaust hood for indoor flued gas heater , water warmer and fireplace to prevent reverse flow of fume caused by adverse wind .
Also it can be used as overhead exhaust hood on outlet of any kind of vent on buildings such as kitchen hood and powerhouse vent to block inward air flow and provide one-way outgoing current.
