이하, 실시 예에 의한 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B) 및 이 장치(200, 200A, 200B)를 포함하는 전자 기기(1000)를 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 다음과 같이 설명한다. 편의상, 데카르트 좌표계(x축, y축, z축)를 이용하여 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B) 및 이를 포함하는 전자 기기(1000)를 설명하지만, 다른 좌표계에 의해서도 이를 설명할 수 있음은 물론이다. 데카르트 좌표계에 의할 경우, x축, y축 및 z축은 서로 직교하지만, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 즉, x축, y축 및 z축은 서로 직교하지 않고 교차할 수도 있다.
이하에서 설명되는 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)란, 지문 센서부(230, 240) 위에 배치되는 오염 방지층(260)을 포함하는 어느 장치도 해당할 수 있다. 또한, 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)는 사용자의 손가락의 지문을 감지하는 것으로 설명하지만, 사용자의 지문 대신에 스타일러스 펜의 터치를 센싱할 수도 있으며, 그 센싱 대상에 국한되지 않는다.
또한, 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)는 다양한 전자 기기에 적용될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)는 사용자 인증이 필요한 분야에서 이용될 수 있다. 사용자 인증이 필요한 경우는 예를 들어, 언로킹(unlocking), 온라인 거래를 인정하거나 부인을 방지(Non-repudiation), 웹 사이트들 및 이메일을 포함한 디바이스 시스템들 및 서비스들에 대한 액세스, 패스워드 및 PIN들의 교체, 도어락(door lock) 등과 같은 물리적 액세스, 시간 및 출석관리 시스템들에서 각종 증명, 모바일 폰들 및 게이밍(gaming)을 위한 손가락 기반 입력 디바이스들/내비게이션, 또는 손가락 기반 단축키(shortcuts)의 사용 등이 있다. 이와 같이, 사용자 인증, 등록, 결재 또는 보안 등 다양한 분야에서 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)가 사용될 수 있다.
전술한 바와 같이 다양한 분야에 적용될 수 있는 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)를 포함하는 전자 기기는 예를 들어 휴대폰, 스마트폰, 휴대 정보 단말기(PDA:Personal Digital Assistant), 휴대용 멀티미디어 플레이어(PMP:Portable Multimedia Player), 노트북 또는 테블릿(tablet) 개인용 컴퓨터(PC:Personal Computer) 등과 같은 휴대용 단말기일 수 있으나, 실시 예는 특정한 전자 기기에 국한되지 않는다.
또한, 실시 예에 의한 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)는 패키지화 또는 모듈화되어 전자 기기(1000)에 포함될 수 있으나, 실시 예는 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)가 전자 기기(1000)에 포함되는 특정한 형태에 국한되지 않는다.
또한, 실시 예에 의한 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)의 이해를 돕기 위해, 도 1에 도시된 바와 같은 전자 기기(1000)를 예를 들어 설명하지만, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 즉, 실시 예에 의한 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)는 도 1에 도시된 전자 기기(1000)와 다른 다양한 형태의 전자 기기에 포함될 수 있음은 물론이다.

도 1을 참조하면, 실시 예에 의한 전자 기기(1000)는 커버 유리(100), 지문 센싱 장치(200) 및 디스플레이부(300)를 포함할 수 있다.
커버 유리(100)는 디스플레이부(300)를 보호하며 전자 기기(1000)의 전면(front surface)에 배치된다. 디스플레이부(300)는 터치 스크린의 역할을 수행할 수 있다.
지문 센싱 장치(200)는 사용자의 지문을 센싱하거나 사용자의 손가락의 움직임을 센싱하거나 스타일러스의 접촉을 센싱하여 포인터를 조작할 수 있도록 할 수 있다. 도 1의 경우, 지문 센싱 장치(200)는 전자 기기(1000)에서 디스플레이부(300)의 아래쪽에 배치된 것으로 예시되어 있지만, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 다른 실시 예에 의하면, 도 1에 도시된 바와 달리, 지문 센싱 장치(200)는 디스플레이부(300)의 위쪽이나 측부쪽에 배치될 수도 있다. 즉, 실시 예는 지문 센싱 장치(200)가 전자 기기(1000)에서 배치되는 위치에 국한되지 않는다.
도 2는 도 1에 도시된 지문 센싱 장치(200)를 I-I'선을 따라 절개한 일 실시 예(200A)에 의한 단면도를 나타내고, 도 3은 도 1에 도시된 지문 센싱 장치(200)를 I-I'선을 따라 절개한 다른 실시 예(200B)에 의한 단면도를 나타낸다.
도 2 및 도 3에 도시된 지문 센싱 장치(200A, 200B)는 베이스 기판(210A, 210B), 지문 센서부(230, 240), 기능층(250), 오염 방지층(260) 및 제2 프라이머(primer)층(270)을 포함할 수 있다.
지문 센서부(230, 240)의 구성이 다르고 베이스 기판(210A, 210B)과 지문 센서부(230, 240)의 연결 형태가 다름을 제외하면, 도 2 및 도 3에 도시된 지문 센싱 장치(200A, 200B)는 서로 동일한 구조를 갖는다.
베이스 기판(210A, 210B)은 인쇄 회로 기판(PCB:Printed Circuit Board) 예를 들어 전체가 유연한 특성을 갖는 연성(flexible) PCB 또는 비연성(rigid) PCB일 수 있으나, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다.
베이스 기판(210A, 210B)은 지문 센서부(230, 240)를 외부 장치(미도시)와 연결시키거나 통신하도록 돕는 역할을 수행할 수 있다. 또한, 베이스 기판(210A, 210B)은 지문 센서부(230, 240)를 구동하는 역할을 수행할 수 있다. 따라서, 전기 신호나 이와 관련된 정보를 지문 센서부(230, 240)로 전달하기 위해, 베이스 기판(210A, 210B)은 지문 센서부(230, 240)와 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다.
일 실시 예에 의하면, 도 2에 도시된 바와 같이 지문 센서부(230)는 베이스 기판(210A)과 와어어(239)에 의해 전기적으로 연결될 수 있지만, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 즉, 와이어(239)를 사용하지 않고 지문 센서부(230)는 베이스 기판(210A)과 다양한 방법으로 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다.
다른 실시 예에 의하면, 도 3에 도시된 바와 같이 지문 센서부(240)는 솔더부(247)에 의해 베이스 기판(210B)과 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다.
실시 예는 지문 센서부(230, 240)와 베이스 기판(210A, 210B)이 서로 전기적으로 연결되는 특정한 형태에 국한되지 않는다.
또한, 도시되지는 않았지만, 베이스 기판(210A, 210B)의 아래에 리드 프레임(미도시)이 더 배치될 수 있다. 리드 프레임은 베이스 기판(210A, 210B)의 하부에 표면 실장 기술(SMT:Surface Mounting Technology)에 의거하여 부착될 수 있다.
한편, 지문 센서부(230, 240)는 반도체 칩(chip) 형태로 베이스 기판(210A, 210B) 위에 배치되어 지문을 센싱하는 역할을 수행한다. 예를 들어, 도 2에 도시된 바와 같이, 지문 센서부(230)는 표면 실장 기술(SMT)에 의해 베이스 기판(210A) 위에 배치될 수 있다.
또한, 지문 센서부(230, 240)는 픽셀이 어레이 형태로 배치된 센싱 영역을 갖는 지문 센서를 포함할 수 있다. 지문 센서부(230, 240)는 손가락 지문의 산(ridge)과 골(valley)의 형상에 따른 높이 차에 의한 정전 용량의 차이를 찾을 수 있으며, 이를 위해 손가락이 이동함에 따른 지문의 이미지를 스캐닝하여 지문 이미지를 만들어낼 수 있다. 예를 들어, 지문 센서부(230, 240)는 지문을 센싱하여 단편적인 지문 영상들을 읽어 들인 후, 단편 지문 영상을 하나의 영상으로 정합하여 온전한 지문 영상을 구현할 수 있다.
또한, 이러한 지문 센서부(230, 240)는 지문의 특징점(예를 들어, Y지점과 같이 지문이 갈라지는 부분 등)에 대한 정보를 사전에 미리 저장해 두고, 지문 영상으로부터 획득한 특징점을 기 저장된 정보와 비교하여 지문의 일치 여부 등을 감지할 수 있다.
또한, 지문 센서부(230, 240)는 지문 감지의 기능뿐만 아니라 손가락의 존재 여부나 손가락의 움직임을 추적할 수 있으며, 이를 통해 커서와 같은 포인터를 움직이거나 사용자로부터 원하는 정보 또는 명령을 제공받을 수도 있다.
전술한 동작을 위해, 지문 센서부(230, 240)는 구동 신호를 사용자의 지문을 향해 송출하는 구동 전극(미도시) 및 사용자의 지문을 거친 신호를 수신하는 수신 전극(미도시)을 포함할 수 있다. 구동 전극은 도전성 폴리머로 이루어져서 구동 신호의 송출의 역할을 달성함과 동시에 다양한 형상과 색상으로 구현될 수 있다.
실시 예는 지문 센서부(230, 240)에서 지문을 센싱하는 방식에 국한되지 않는다. 즉, 지문 센서부(230, 240)는 동작 원리에 따라 구분되는 초음파 방식, 적외선 방식 또는 정전용량 방식 지문 센서일 수 있다.
또한, 실시 예는 지문 센서부(230, 240)의 특정한 구조에 국한되지 않는다. 이하, 지문 센서부(230, 240)의 예시적인 구성을 살펴보면 다음과 같다.
일 실시 예에 의하면, 도 2에 도시된 바와 같이 지문 센서부(230)는 몰딩부(231), 접착부(233), 지문 센서(235), 보호필름(237) 및 와이어(239)를 포함할 수 있다.
접착부(233)는 지문 센서(235)와 베이스 기판(210A) 사이에 배치될 수 있다. 접착부(233)는 지문 센서(235)를 베이스 기판(210A)에 접착시켜 고정하는 에폭시 접착제일 수 있다. 그러나, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 즉, 다른 실시 예에 의하면, 지문 센서부(230)는 접착부(233)를 포함하지 않을 수 있으며, 이 경우 예를 들어 지문 센서(235)와 베이스 기판(210A)은 끼워 맞춤식으로 서로 결합 또는 체결될 수도 있다.
지문 센서(235)는 사용자의 지문을 거친 신호를 수신하며, 어레이 형태로 배치된 픽셀을 포함할 수 있다. 지문 센서(235)는 사용자의 손가락의 지문의 골과 산의 형상에 따른 높이 차에 의한 정전 용량의 차이를 찾을 수 있으며, 손가락이 이동함에 따른 지문의 전기 신호의 차이를 수신하는 부분으로서, 구동 전극 및 수신 전극을 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 지문 센서(235)는 지문 이미지를 센싱하고 처리하는 역할을 하며, 집적화된 IC일 수 있다.
보호 필름(237)은 몰딩부(231)로부터 지문 센서(235)를 보호하는 역할을 수행하기 위해, 지문 센서(235)의 상부면과 몰딩부(231) 사이에 배치될 수 있다. 경우에 따라, 지문 센서부(230)에서 보호 필름(237)은 생략될 수 있다.
와이어(239)는 지문 센서(235)를 베이스 기판(210A)에 전기적으로 연결하는 역할을 수행할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 와이어(239)는 금(Au)을 포함할 수 있다.
몰딩부(231)는 지문 센서(235)와 와이어(239)를 감싸면서 베이스 기판(210A) 상부에 배치될 수 있다. 몰딩부(231)는 사출 또는 몰드(mold)로 만들어질 수 있다. 몰딩부(231)는 액상의 폴리머를 사용하여 구현될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 몰딩부(231)는 에폭시 몰드 컴파운드(EMC:Epoxy mold compound), 에폭시 수지, 퍼티(putty) 또는 PPA(Polyphthalamide) 레진 중 적어도 하나를 포함할 수 있다. 몰딩부(231)를 제조할 때 열 경화 시에 플라스틱 수축을 줄이거나 없애기 위해, 몰딩부(231)는 실리카겔을 포함할 수 있다. 몰딩부(231)로서 사용되는 EMC는 일반 사출로 형성된 PC 계열보다 단단하여 공차를 미연에 방지할 수 있고, 평탄도를 더 개선시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 고열의 공정을 거친 후에도 일반 사출에서 나타난 칩 마크(chip mark)를 줄일 수 있다. 또한, 몰딩부(231)는 지문 센서부(230)를 베이스 기판(210A)의 바닥면에 밀착시킴으로써, 지문 센서부(230)의 신뢰성을 높이는 데 기여할 수도 있다.
다른 실시 예에 의하면, 도 3에 도시된 바와 같이 지문 센서부(240)는 센서 기판(241), 지문 센서(243), 패드(245), 솔더부(247), 제1 및 제2 하부층(또는, underfill layer)(248, 249)를 포함할 수 있다.
센서 기판(241)은 제1 및 제2 면(241A, 241B)을 포함할 수 있다. 센서 기판(241)의 제1 면(241A)은 베이스 기판(210B)과 마주하는 면에 해당하고, 제2 면(241B)은 제1 면(241A)의 반대측 면에 해당한다.
센서 기판(241)은 사용자의 손가락의 지문의 골과 산의 전기 신호의 차이를 수신하는 부분으로서, 구동 전극 및 수신 전극을 포함할 수 있으나, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 즉, 센서 기판(241)에 구동 전극과 수신 전극이 반드시 동시에 포함되지 않을 수 있다.
지문 센서(243)는 지문 이미지를 센싱하고 처리하는 역할을 하며, 집적화된 IC일 수 있다.
도 2에 도시된 지문 센서부(230)의 지문 센서(235)는 도 3에 도시된 센서 기판(241)과 지문 센서(243)의 역할을 모두 수행한다. 반면에, 도 3에 도시된 센서 기판(241) 및 지문 센서(243)는 도 2에 도시된 지문 센서(235)의 역할을 서로 분담하여 수행할 수 있다. 따라서, 도 2에 도시된 지문 센싱 장치(200A)를 일체형 지문 센싱 장치라 칭하고, 도 3에 도시된 지문 센싱 장치(200B)를 분리형 지문 센싱 장치라고 칭할 수 있다.
패드(245)는 지문 센서(243)와 센서 기판(241)의 제1 면(241A)을 전기적으로 연결하는 역할을 한다. 이를 위해, 패드(245)는 지문 센서(243)와 센서 기판(241)의 제1 면(241A) 사이에 배치된다. 패드(245)는 도전형 물질로 구현될 수 있으며, 실시 예는 패드(245)의 특정 재질에 국한되지 않는다.
솔더부(247)는 센서 기판(241)의 제1 면(241A)과 베이스 기판(210B) 사이에 배치되어, 센서 기판(241)과 베이스 기판(210B)을 서로 전기적으로 연결하는 역할을 수행할 수 있다. 따라서, 솔더부(247)는 도전형 물질로 구현될 수 있으며, 실시 예는 솔더부(247)의 특정 재질에 국한되지 않는다.
제1 하부층(248)은 지문 센서(243)와 센서 기판(241)의 연결 부위를 감싸며 배치될 수 있다. 따라서, 패드(245)는 제1 하부층(248)에 의해 감싸져서 외부로부터 보호될 수 있다.
제2 하부층(249)은 센서 기판(241)의 제1 면(241A)과 베이스 기판(210B) 사이에 배치되어, 솔더부(247), 지문 센서(243) 및 제1 하부층(248)을 감싸도록 배치될 수 있다.
제1 및 제2 하부층(248, 249)의 재질은 서로 동일할 수도 있고, 서로 다를 수도 있다. 제1 및 제2 하부층(248, 249) 각각은 액상 EMC를 경화시켜 제조될 수 있으나, 실시 예는 제1 및 제2 하부층(248, 249) 각각의 특정한 재질에 국한되지 않는다. 또한, 제1 또는 제2 하부층(248, 249) 중 적어도 하나는 생략될 수도 있다.
한편, 기능층(250)이 지문 센서부(230, 240) 위에 배치될 수 있다. 도 2의 경우 기능층(250)은 지문 센서부(230)의 몰딩부(231) 위에 배치되고, 도 3의 경우 기능층(250)은 센서 기판(241)의 제2 면(241B) 위에 배치된다.
기능층(250)은 제1 프라이머층(252), 컬러층(254) 또는 보호층(256) 중 적어도 하나를 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 기능층(250)은 생략될 수도 있다.
예를 들어, 도 2 및 도 3에 도시된 바와 같이 기능층(250)은 제1 프라이머층(252), 컬러층(254) 및 보호층(256)을 포함할 수 있다.

실시 예는 기능층(250)에 포함되는 층의 종류와 기능층(250)의 존재 여부에 국한되지 않는다. 기능층(250)에 포함될 수 있는 각 층에 대해 세부적으로 살펴보면 다음과 같다.
먼저, 제1 프라이머층(252)은 지문 센서부(230, 240)와 컬러층(254)의 사이에 배치될 수 있다. 제1 프라이머층(252)은 베이스층의 역할을 수행하며, 반사 소재의 코팅일 수 있으며, 실버 코팅으로 구현될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 베이스층은 나노 분자로 분쇄된 도료와 은(Ag) 입자를 포함하여 구현될 수 있다. 베이스층은 지문 센서부(230, 240)의 상부에서 빛을 반사함으로써 지문 센서부(230, 240)의 색상이 외부로 노출되지 않도록 할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 도 2를 참조하면, 베이스층(252)은 몰딩부(231)의 색상이 외부로 노출되지 않도록 할 수 있다. 이와 같이, 베이스층은 몰딩부(231)에 대한 은폐력을 향상시키는 역할을 수행할 수 있다. 또한, 베이스층은 몰딩부(231)의 제작시 몰드 금형의 공차 등으로 인하여 간혹 발생될 수 있는 칩 마크도 외관적으로 표시되지 않도록 할 수 있어, 칩 마크 불량에 대한 은폐 효과도 제공할 수 있다.
또한, 제1 프라이머층(252)은 컬러층(254)의 안정적인 도포를 돕는 일종의 접착제의 역할을 수행할 수도 있다.
컬러층(254)은 제1 프라이머층(252)과 보호층(256) 사이에 배치될 수 있다. 만일, 기능층(250)이 제1 프라이머층(252)을 포함하지 않을 경우, 컬러층(254)은 지문 센서부(230, 240)와 보호층(256) 사이에 배치될 수 있다.
컬러층(254)은 지문 센싱 장치(200A, 200B)의 색상을 그(200A, 200B) 주변과 일치시키거나 유사하게 만드는 역할을 한다. 예를 들어, 도 2를 참조하면, 컬러층(254)은 몰딩부(231)의 색상이 보통 검정색이므로 이를 은폐하기 위해 별도의 색상을 재현하는 역할을 한다.
컬러층(254)은 나노 분자로 분쇄된 도료와 컬러 피그먼트(pigment)를 포함하여 이루어질 수 있다. 컬러층(254)을 구성하는 나노 분자로 분쇄된 도료는 제1 프라이머층(252)을 구성하는 나노 분자로 분쇄된 실리콘 도료와 동일한 물질일 수 있으며, 실리콘 계열의 소재일 수 있으나, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 컬러층(254)은 나노 분자로 분쇄된 도료와 나노 크기의 컬러 피그먼트가 혼입되어 조색됨으로써, 이를 통해 색상을 가질 수 있다. 여기서, 컬러 피그먼트는 티타늄 산화물(TiO2) 또는 니켈 산화물(NiO2) 중 적어도 하나를 포함할 수 있으나, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 컬러층(254)에서 구현하고자 하는 색상에 따라 컬러 피그먼트를 적절하게 선택할 수 있다.
또한, 보호층(256)은 구현하고자 하는 질감에 따라 다양한 형태로 구현될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 보호층(256)에는 헤어 라인(hairline)이 패터닝될 수 있다. 헤어 라인은 가는 실선의 형태일 수 있으며, 일정한 간격으로 패터닝될 수 있다. 그 밖에 보호층(256)은 다양한 패턴을 가질 수도 있다.
또한, 보호층(256)의 코팅 시에 펄(pearl) 소재 등과 같은 질감을 나타낼 수 있도록 별도의 소재가 더 추가될 수 있다.
보호층(256)은 자외선(UV) 경화 도료를 이용하여 형성될 수 있다. UV 경화 도료는 UV에 의해 경화되는 도료로서 수지 또는 저중합체(oligomer)를 주 골격 수지로 하고, UV 경화성 모너머(주로 아크릴), 광개시제, 기타 첨가제를 포함할 수 있다. 여기서, 광개시제는 자외선를 받아 중합을 할 수 있는 상태로 만들어 주는 역할을 한다. 안료를 넣을 경우, UV 통과가 어려워 투명으로 쓰는 경우가 대부분이며 안료를 가미한 경우는 매우 얇은 도장에만 국한된다. UV 경화 도료는 단시간에 경화됨으로써 모든 면에서 경제적이고, 저온 경화가 가능하다. 또한, UV 경화 도료는 실온보다 10℃ 정도 높은 온도에서 조절되므로, 열이 약한 제품에도 적합하며, 경도가 높고 내마찰성이 우수하다. UV 경화 도료는 무용제형, 용제형 모두 가능하고 광택이 높아 평판 도장에 적합하다.
또한, 전술한 기능층(250)은 코팅된 형태를 가질 수 있지만, 실시 예는 기능층(250)의 특정한 형태에 국한되지 않는다.

상부층(264A, 264B, 264C)은 결합 가교층(262A, 262B, 262C) 위에 배치되며 불소 함유 탄소 화합물을 포함할 수 있다. 상부층(264A, 264B, 264C)은 외부의 오염이 부착됨을 방지하는 역할을 한다. 예를 들어, 상부층(264A, 264B, 264C)에 포함될 수 있는 불소 함유 탄소 화합물은 불소 고분자(fluoride resin layer) 또는 탄화 불소(fluorocarbon) 중 적어도 하나를 포함할 수 있으나, 실시 예는 상부층(264A, 264B, 264C)의 특정한 구성 물질에 국한되지 않는다.

이하, 도 4 및 도 5에 도시된 상부층(264A, 264B)의 특징에 대해 다음과 같이 살펴본다. 이를 위해, 상부층(264A, 264B)의 상부면(264T)을 분당 25회의 횟수로, 스틸 울(steel wool)을 사용하여 일정한 면적 예를 들어 가로 x 세로가 10㎜ x 10㎜인 면적에 대해 1kgf의 압력을 가하면서, 상부면(264T)의 마모 횟수를 증가시키면서, 상부층(264A, 264B)의 특징을 살펴보면 다음과 같다.
도 7은 도 4에 도시된 상부층(264A)의 마모 횟수에 따른 접촉각을 나타내고, 도 8은 도 5에 도시된 상부층(264B)의 마모 횟수에 따른 접촉각을 각각 나타낸다. 각 그래프의 횡축은 상부층(264A, 264B)의 마모 횟수를 나타내고, 종축은 상부층(264A, 264B)의 접촉각을 각각 나타낸다.
여기서, 접촉각은, 액체와 기체가 고체 표면 위에서 열역학적으로 평형을 이룰 때 이루는 각을 의미한다. 코팅된 오염 방지층(260A, 260B, 260C)의 상부층(264A, 264B, 264C) 표면에 지문이나 각종 오염의 부착이 적어지고, 이 표면은 부착된 오염이 간단히 제거될 수 있는 발수 및 발유의 특성을 가지며, 이는 물 접촉각의 수치로 특성 확인이 가능할 수 있다. 즉, 고체면에 대학 액체의 접촉각이 크다는 것은 그만큼 액체가 고체와의 친화력이 작다는 것을 의미하므로 만일 사용 액체가 물이라면 고체면이 그만큼 소수성 및 발수성(hydrophobic)을 갖는다고 간주할 수 있다.
본 발명에서는 "Contact Angle Analyzer(KRUSS/DSA100S)"라는 장비를 이용하여 접촉각을 측정하였다(Range of contact angle:0~ 180°± 0.1°).
도 7을 참조하면, 도 4에 도시된 오염 방지층(260A)의 순수 접촉각은 110° 내지 115°에 속할 수 있으나, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 또한, 도 8을 참조하면, 도 5에 도시된 오염 방지층(260B)의 순수 접촉각은 100° 내지 110°의 범위에 속함을 알 수 있다. 순수 접촉각은 오염 방지층(260)의 발수성을 나타내는 지표로서, 오염 방지층(260)은 우수한 발수성을 가짐을 알 수 있다.
전술한 바와 같이, 오염 방지층(260A, 260B)의 순수 접촉각은 오염 방지층(260A, 260B)의 결합 관계에 따라 달라짐을 알 수 있으나, 실시 예는 순수 접촉각의 특정한 값에 국한되지 않는다.
또한, 오염 방지층(260A, 260B)의 n-hexadecane의 접촉각은 64° 내지 70°일 수 있으나, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 즉, 오염 방지층(260A, 260B)의 발유성은 n-hexadecane의 접촉각을 통해 알 수 있다.
또한, 오염 방지층(260)의 두께(T1)가 너무 두꺼울 경우, 지문 센서부(230, 240)의 지문 센싱 감도가 저하될 수 있고, 두께(T1)가 너무 얇을 경우 제3 하부층(400)의 오염을 방지하는 역할이 제대로 수행되지 않을 수도 있다. 예를 들어, 오염 방지층(260)의 두께(T1)는 10㎚ 이하일 수 있으나, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다.
또한, 도 4 및 도 5에 도시된 결합 관계를 갖는 오염 방지층(260A, 260B)의 동마찰 계수(μ)는 0.12 이하일 수 있으나, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 예를 들어, 도 4에 도시된 오염 방지층(260A)의 동마찰 계수는 0.12이며, 도 5에 도시된 오염 방지층(260B)의 동마찰 계수는 0.05 내지 0.1로서 0.12 이하임을 알 수 있다.
한편, 전술한 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)에서 지문이 터치되는 부분은 손가락의 형상에 유사한 오목한 형상을 가질 수 있다. 이와 같이, 오목한 형상을 가질 경우, 지문과 터치되는 부분의 면적이 넓어져서 많은 지문 영상을 획득할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 기능층(250)이 생략될 경우, 몰딩부(231)의 상부면이 손가락과 접촉 면적이 넓어지도록 오목한 형상을 가질 수 있다. 또는 기능층(250)이 생략되지 않을 경우, 기능층(250), 또는 기능층(250)과 몰딩부(231)가 모두 오목한 형상을 가질 수도 있다. 그러나, 실시 예는 기능층(250)과 몰딩부(231)의 특정한 형상에 국한되지 않는다.
이하, 도 2 및 도 3에 도시된 지문 센싱 장치(200A, 200B) 각각의 제조 방법을 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 다음과 같이 살펴본다. 이때, 설명의 편의상, 제2 프라이머층(270)은 도시되지 않았지만, 제1 프라이머층(252)이 생성되는 방법과 동일한 방법으로 제2 프라이머층(270)이 형성될 수 있다.
도 9a 내지 도 9d는 도 2에 도시된 지문 센싱 장치(200A)의 제조 방법을 설명하기 위한 공정 단면도를 나타낸다.
도 9a를 참조하면, 베이스 기판(210A) 위에 지문 센서부(230)를 형성한다. 구체적으로 살펴보면, 접착부(233)를 이용하여 지문 센서(235)를 고정시킨다. 접착부(233)는 에폭시 접착제일 수 있으나, 실시 예는 접착부(233)의 특정한 재질에 국한되지 않는다.
지문 센서(235)는 반도체 칩 형태로 베이스 기판(210A) 위에 형성될 수 있다. 이후, 지문 센서(235) 위에 보호 필름(237)을 형성한다. 보호 필름(237)의 형성은 생략될 수 있다. 이후, 지문 센서(235)와 베이스 기판(210A)을 와이어(239)에 의해 전기적으로 서로 연결시킨다.
이때, 와이어(239)가 형성된 이후에 보호 필름(237)이 형성될 수도 있고, 보호 필름(237)의 형성은 생략될 수도 있다.
이후, 도 9b에 도시된 바와 같이, 지문 센서(235)와 와이어(239)를 감싸면서 베이스 기판(210A)의 상부에 몰딩부(231)를 형성한다. 몰딩부(231)는 사출 또는 몰드(mold)로 만들어질 수 있다. 몰딩부(231)는 액상의 폴리머를 사용하여 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 몰딩부(231)는 에폭시 몰드 컴파운드(EMC), 에폭시 수지, 퍼티(putty) 또는 PPA 레진 중 적어도 하나를 이용하여 형성될 수 있다. 몰딩부(231)를 제조할 때 열 경화 시에 플라스틱 수축을 줄이거나 없애기 위해, 몰딩부(231)는 실리카겔을 포함할 수 있다.
이후, 도 9c를 참조하면, 몰딩부(231) 위에 기능층(250)을 형성한다. 구체적으로 살펴보면, 몰딩부(231) 위에 제1 프라이머층(252)을 형성하고, 제1 프라이머층(252) 위에 컬러층(254)을 형성하고, 컬러층(254) 위에 보호층(256)을 형성한다. 이러한 기능층(250)의 코팅은 도장 및 인쇄 등의 공법에 의해 실현될 수 있으나, 실시 예는 기능층(250)의 특정한 형성 방법에 국한되지 않는다.
도 10은 실시 예에 의한 오염 방지층(260)의 제조 방법(500)을 설명하기 위한 플로우차트이다.
도 9c에 도시된 바와 같이, 기능층(250)을 형성한 이후, 오염 방지층(260)을 형성하기 이전에 기능층(250)의 상부면(250T) 즉, 오염 방지층(260)이 장착될 표면(이하, ‘장착 표면’이라 함)을 세정한다(제510 단계). 예를 들어, 장착 표면(250T)을 IPA(Indole Pyruvic Acid) 초음파 또는 순수 초음파를 이용하여 유분을 제거하는 등 탈지 세정할 수 있다. 장착 표면(250T)에 먼지, 유분, 손자국(또는, 수적) 등이 존재할 경우, 오염 방지층(260)의 밀착성이 저하될 수 있다. 따라서, 이러한 밀착성의 저하를 방지하고 개선하기 위해, 제510 단계를 수행한다.
이후, 제510 단계 후에, 세정된 장착 표면(250T)에 대한 표면 처리 작업을 수행한다(제520 단계). 예를 들어, 장착 표면(250T)에 진공 플라즈마를 조사하거나 자외선(UV)과 오존을 사용하는 광 표면 처리 기술을 이용하여 장착 표면(250T)에 대한 표면 처리 작업을 수행할 수 있다.
이후, 제520 단계 후에, 장착 표면(250T)의 순수 접촉각이 소정 각도 이하인가를 검사한다(제530 단계). 예를 들어, 소정 각도는 15°일 수 있으나, 실시 예는 이에 국한되지 않는다. 만일, 장착 표면(250T)의 순수 접촉각이 15°이하가 아닐 경우 제520 단계를 다시 수행한다. 이와 같이, 장착 표면(250T)의 순수 접촉각이 15°이하가 될 때까지, 제520 단계는 반복적으로 수행될 수 있다.
만일, 장착 표면(250T)의 순수 접촉각이 15°가 될 때, 도 9d에 도시된 바와 같이 장착 표면(250T) 위에 오염 방지층(260)을 형성한다(제540 및 제550 단계).
구체적으로 살펴보면, 오염 방지층(260) 형성용 물질을 장착 표면(250T) 상에 형성한다(제540 단계). 예를 들어, 오염 방지층(260) 형성용 물질을 솔, 침적(dipping), 스핀 코팅(spin coating) 또는 플로코팅 등 다양한 방법으로 장착 표면(250T)에 도포할 수 있다.
오염 방지층(260) 아래에 배치된 제3 하부층(400) 즉, 기능층(250)의 최상위 층인 보호층(256)이 유리, 도기 또는 금속일 경우, 오염 방지층(260)을 장착 표면(250T)에 직접 도포한다. 그러나, 보호층(256)이 유리나 도기나 금속이 아닌 물질 예를 들어 플라스틱일 경우, 보호층(256) 위에 제2 프라이머층(270)(도 9d에서는 미도시)을 도포한 이후에, 오염 방지층(260) 형성용 물질을 제2 프라이머층(270) 상부에 도포할 수 있다.
또한, 오염 방지층(260) 형성용 물질은 1회 또는 복수 횟수만큼 장착 표면(250T) 상에 도포될 수 있다. 이와 같이, 오염 방지층(260) 형성용 물질을 복수 횟수만큼 도포할 경우 도포된 부분의 얼룩이 생기지 않거나 얼룩이 줄어들 수 있다.
제540 단계 후에, 오염 방지층(260) 형성용 물질이 도포된 결과물을 건조시키고 양생시킨다(제550 단계). 도포된 결과물은 환기가 잘되는 환경에서 실온으로 건조할 수 있다. 제3 하부층(400) 예를 들어, 보호층(256)이 유리나 도기일 경우, 도포된 오염 방지층(260) 형성용 물질의 끈적거림이 없어질 때까지 건조한 이후 제1 소정 기간 예를 들어, 90분 정도 양생시킨 이후에 오염 방지층(260)의 형성이 완성될 수 있다.
또한, 제2 프라이머층(270)이 보호층(256) 상부에 형성되고, 제2 프라이머층(270) 위에 오염 방지층(260)이 형성될 경우, 밀착성을 개선시키기 위해, 도포된 오염 방지층(260) 형성용 물질의 끈적거림이 없어질 때까지 건조한 이후 제2 소정 기간 예를 들어, 8시간 내지 24시간 정도 양생시킨 이후에 오염 방지층(260)의 형성이 완성될 수 있다.
또한, 오염 방지층(260) 형성용 물질을 도포한 이후에, 도포된 결과물을 소정 온도로 가열할 경우 양생에 소요되는 제1 또는 제2 소정 기간을 단축시킬 수 있다. 예를 들어, 소정 온도가 60℃일 경우 제1 또는 제2 소정 기간은 90분 정도로 단축되고, 소정 온도가 100℃일 경우 제1 또는 제2 소정 기간은 60분 정도로 단축되고, 소정 온도가 120℃일 경우 제1 또는 제2 소정 기간은 20분 정도까지 단축될 수 있다.
도 11a 내지 도 11d는 도 3에 도시된 지문 센싱 장치(200B)의 제조 방법을 설명하기 위한 공정 단면도를 나타낸다.
도 11a를 참조하면, 센서 기판(241)의 제1 면(241A) 위에 지문 센서(243)를 형성한다. 이때, 지문 센서(243)와 센서 기판(241)을 서로 전기적으로 연결하는 패드(245)를 센서 기판(241)과 지문 센서(243) 사이에 형성할 수 있다. 지문 센서(243)는 반도체 칩 형태로 센서 기판(241) 위에 형성될 수 있다. 이후, 지문 센서(243)와 센서 기판(241)의 연결 부위에 제1 하부층(248)을 형성한다.
이후, 도 11a에 도시된 결과물을 뒤집은 후, 도 11b에 도시된 바와 같이 솔더부(247)를 이용하여 센서 기판(241)을 베이스 기판(210B)에 전기적으로 연결시킨다. 예를 들어, SMT를 이용하여 솔더부(247)를 베이스 기판(210B) 위에 형성할 수 있다.
이후, 도 11c를 참조하면, 센서 기판(241)과 베이스 기판(210B) 사이에서 제1 하부층(248), 지문 센서(243) 및 솔더부(247)를 감싸도록 제2 하부층(249)을 형성한다.
제1 및 제2 하부층(248, 249) 각각은 액상 EMC를 경화시켜 제조될 수 있다. 또한, 제1 및 제2 하부층(248, 249)은 서로 다른 물질이나 서로 동일한 물질로 형성될 수 있다.
이후, 도 11d를 참조하면, 센서 기판(241)의 제2 면(241B) 위에 기능층(250)을 형성한다. 여기서, 기능층(250)의 형성은 도 9c에 도시된 기능층(250)의 형성과 동일하므로 중복되는 설명을 생략한다.

전술한 바와 같이, 실시 예에 의한 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)는 오염 방지층(260)을 포함하기 때문에, 손가락의 지문이나 오염이 부착되지 않거나 오염이 부착되는 량이 줄어들 수 있고, 오염이 부착된다고 하더라도 쉽게 제거할 수 있다. 오염 방지층(260)은 고밀착성 피막이기 때문에, 티슈 등을 이용하여 오염물을 제거한 이후에도 계속해서 오염이 부착됨을 방지하는 기능을 수행할 수 있다.
또한, 오염 방지층(260)의 표면의 동마찰 계수가 0.12 이하로서 낮기 때문에, 오염 방지층(260)의 표면은 우수한 윤활성을 가질 수 있다. 이와 같이 우수한 윤활성을 가질 경우, 오염 방지층(260)의 표면에 오염이 부착될 확률이 감소하거나 오염이 부착되지 않을 수 있다.
또한, 제3 하부층(400)이 유리나, 플라스틱이나 금속 등의 각종 재질을 가질 경우, 오염 방지층(260) 형성용 물질을 도포한 이후 상온에서 건조함으로써 제3 하부층(400)과 오염 방지층(260)이 화학 결합하도록 하여, 오염 방지층(260)의 밀착성과 경도를 증가시킬 수 있다.
또한, 제3 하부층(400)이 유리나 금속 이외의 재질 예를 들어 플라스틱일 경우, 오염 방지층(260)을 형성하기 이전에 제3 하부층(400)의 상부에 제2 프라이머층(270)을 형성함으로써, 오염 방지층(260)의 밀착성과 경도를 개선시킬 수 있다.
또한, 오염 방지층(260)의 두께는 10㎚ 이하이기 때문에, 지문 센싱 장치(200, 200A, 200B)의 외관을 해치지 않으며 지문 센싱된 결과의 감도를 저하시키지 않고 오염 방지층(260)이 박리되지 않아, 외관의 상태를 저해하지 않는다.
또한, 오염 방지층(260)의 전술한 발수성과 발유성을 고려할 때, 오염 방지층(260)은 우수한 액체 제거성을 가지므로, 우수한 동적 발수성과 발유성을 갖고 낮은 활낙각과 높은 후퇴 접촉각을 가질 수 있다.
도 12a 내지 도 12d는 비교 례 및 실시 예에 의한 지문 센싱 장치의 외관을 나타낸다.
도 12a에 도시된 비교 례에 의한 지문 센싱 장치에서 지문이 터치되지 않은 상부면(600)은 깨끗하지만, 수회 반복적으로 사용된 이후에는 도 12b에 도시된 바와 같이 상부면(610)이 오염되어 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한, 도 12c에 도시된 바와 같이 비교 례에 의한 지문 센싱 장치를 1회 사용하였음에도 불구하고 그의 상부면(620)은 오염되거나 손가락 지문의 흔적이 남아 있음을 알 수 있다. 반면에, 실시 예에 의한 지문 센싱 장치의 경우 지문이 닿은 면이 오염 방지층(630)이므로 도 12d에 도시된 바와 같이 1회 사용하였을 때, 도 12c보다 상부면(630)에 오염이 적고 손가락 지문의 흔적이 남지 않음을 알 수 있다.
이상에서 실시 예를 중심으로 설명하였으나 이는 단지 예시일 뿐 본 발명을 한정하는 것이 아니며, 본 발명이 속하는 분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 본 실시 예의 본질적인 특성을 벗어나지 않는 범위에서 이상에 예시되지 않은 여러 가지의 변형과 응용이 가능함을 알 수 있을 것이다. 예를 들어, 실시 예에 구체적으로 나타난 각 구성 요소는 변형하여 실시할 수 있는 것이다. 그리고 이러한 변형과 응용에 관계된 차이점들은 첨부된 청구 범위에서 규정하는 본 발명의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 할 것이다.
발명의 실시를 위한 형태는 전술한 "발명의 실시를 위한 최선의 형태"에서 충분히 설명되었다.
실시 예에 의한 지문 센싱 장치는 휴대폰, 스마트폰, 휴대 정보 단말기(PDA:Personal Digital Assistant), 휴대용 멀티미디어 플레이어(PMP:Portable Multimedia Player), 노트북 또는 테블릿(tablet) 개인용 컴퓨터(PC:Personal Computer) 등과 같은 휴대용 단말기 같은 다양한 전자 기기에 이용될 수 있다.
Claims (20)
- 베이스 기판;상기 베이스 기판 위에 배치된 지문 센서부; 및상기 지문 센서부 위에 배치되며, 불소 함유 탄소 화합물을 포함하는 오염 방지층을 포함하는 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제1 항에 있어서, 상기 오염 방지층은결합 가교층; 및상기 결합 가교층 위에 배치되며 상기 불소 함유 탄소 화합물을 포함하는 상부층을 포함하는 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제2 항에 있어서, 상기 결합 가교층은 실리콘 산화물을 포함하는 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제3 항에 있어서, 상기 상부층은 상기 불소 함유 탄소 화합물과 상기 실리콘 산화물이 망상으로 결합된 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제3 항에 있어서, 상기 불소 함유 탄소 화합물은 불소 고분자 또는 탄화 불소 중 적어도 하나를 포함하는 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제5 항에 있어서, 상기 상부층은 상기 불소 고분자를 포함하고, 상기 불소 고분자 하나마다 실리콘 원자가 결합된 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제6 항에 있어서, 상기 오염 방지층의 순수 접촉각은 110° 내지 115°인 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제5 항에 있어서, 상기 상부층은 상기 탄화 불소를 포함하고, 상기 탄화 불소의 각 단부에 실리콘 원자가 고리 형태로 결합된 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제8 항에 있어서, 상기 오염 방지층의 순수 접촉각은 100° 내지 110°인 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제6 항 또는 제8 항에 있어서, 상기 오염 방지층의 n-hexadecane의 접촉각은 64° 내지 70°인 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제6 항 또는 제8 항에 있어서, 상기 오염 방지층의 두께는 10㎚ 이하인 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제6 항 또는 제8 항에 있어서, 상기 오염 방지층의 동마찰 계수는 0.12 이하인 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제12 항에 있어서, 상기 오염 방지층의 동마찰 계수는 0.05 내지 0.1인 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제1 항에 있어서, 상기 지문 센서부와 상기 오염 방지층 사이에 배치된 기능층을 더 포함하는 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제14 항에 있어서, 상기 기능층은상기 지문 센서부 위에 배치된 제1 프라이머층;상기 제1 프라이머층 위에 배치된 컬러층; 또는상기 컬러층 위에 배치된 보호층 중 적어도 하나를 포함하는 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제1 항에 있어서, 상기 지문 센서부와 상기 오염 방지층 사이에 배치된 제2 프라이머층을 더 포함하는 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제14 항에 있어서, 상기 기능층과 상기 오염 방지층 사이에 배치된 제2 프라이머층을 더 포함하는 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제1 항에 있어서, 상기 지문 센서부는지문 센서;상기 지문 센서를 상기 베이스 기판에 접착시켜 고정하는 접착부;상기 지문 센서를 상기 베이스 기판에 전기적으로 연결하는 와이어; 및상기 지문 센서와 상기 와이어를 감싸면서 상기 베이스 기판과 상기 오염 방지층 사이에 배치된 몰딩부를 포함하는 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제1 항에 있어서, 상기 지문 센서부는상기 오염 방지층 아래에 배치되며, 제1 면 및 상기 제1 면의 반대측이고 상기 오염 방지층과 대향하는 제2 면을 갖는 센서 기판;상기 센서 기판의 상기 제1 면 상에 배치되는 지문 센서;상기 지문 센서와 상기 센서 기판의 상기 제1 면을 전기적으로 연결하는 패드;상기 센서 기판을 상기 베이스 기판에 전기적으로 연결하는 솔더부;상기 지문 센서와 상기 센서 기판의 연결 부위를 감싸며 배치된 제1 하부층; 및상기 센서 기판의 상기 제1 면과 상기 베이스 기판 사이에 배치되어, 상기 솔더부, 상기 지문 센서 및 상기 제1 하부층을 감싸도록 배치된 제2 하부층을 포함하는 지문 센싱 장치.
- 제1 항 내지 제9 항 및 제14 항 내지 제19 항 중 어느 한 항에 기재된 상기 지문 센싱 장치를 포함하는 전자 기기.
