Definitions

  • This invention relates to a system and method for reverse charge calling and more particularly, but not exclusively, to reverse charge calling using mobile telephones.
  • one system includes a caller sending a "short message service” (sms) message to a callee asking the callee to "please call me".

  • the sms is sent free of charge to the caller as it includes advertisement information. The sms was thus paid by the advertiser.
  • One disadvantage of this system is that it is time consuming. The sms must first be received by the callee and the callee must then dial the caller. This time delay is problematic in emergency situations.
  • reverse call charge systems include reversing the charge or apportioning a charge in favour of different charge rates in different geographical areas or as offered by different service providers.

This dynamic rate adaptation permits truly per-call rate adaptation in a manner which allows end users to more flexibly allocate costs.
